Politics / Re: What Has Jonathan Achieved Since He Came Into Politics? by enny5: 11:55pm On Jul 20, 2013
gedtalks: OP... I think you should be asking how much has GEJ saved for Nigeria since the subsidy regime. Not this stupid question. Anyway I dont blame your ignorance all you have is common sense. There are terms like macro-economics mgt, sustainability planning, etc which YOU CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND with this your common sense.

Shar let me tell you this : a good manager PLANS FIRST (removal of subsidy), SAVES (u shld ask how much Nigeria has saved), then invests according to the plan.

I think you should pray that GEJ should remain so that the money being saved would be properly invested according to the planned SURE program- which includes ALL you have listed AND MUCH MORE.

U dont dont anythin about macro econs mgt. Jonathan didnt plan anytin. There are basic steps in mgt. PLAN -----> ACCOUNT FOR CONSTRAINTS------>ALLOCATE TIME FRAMES----->UNFREEZE & MAKE CHANGES----->PIN POINT LONG & SHORT TERM GOALS & TASK------->EXECUTES----->PROVIDE A MAINTENANCE PLAN----->MAKE IT STICK.
It is reli dat simple. and this is ow it is done. It is bcoz of pple like u who dont even know the right questions to ask that they keep thinking that we are all fooolss and dont know wat they are doing. PLZ go to school. your 1st step as a manager is to communicate ur long and short term goals to the employees/followers and show, over time that we are a team and we are still on track. Jonathan has none. NOw dat elections is in 2015 he is selling all d sectors of this country. What has he been doing since he got into office? The subsidy for fuel where is it? And u, mumu claiming he saved for nigeria, No1 did u see d savings accoutn? No2, we saved so why r we borrowing from china? or are we borrowing from china to save. bcoz dat enters d ledger as liabilities not assets. so whr is d saved money and when is he saving for? When God has come and gone? mstweeee. You are hungry and dying, u have 500 naira, you walk with ur hunger to the bank and go and save it. FOR WAT? Ur coffin when you die?

The truth is Nigerian's are really daft! Am sorry but i have to say it. That dey would think that building houses and getting foreign pple to open businesses here is economic development. MY GOD!! He is privatising all sectors of the economy, more foreign companies are coming in to sap from our little funds already, Jonathan has not achieved anything. Absolutely nithing. We are worse off coz bills are higher bcoz the providers of the basic necessities of life (food, water, shelter) are private or foreign, nothing is subsidised, the country is not producing or providing anything anymore for its citizens. The nigerian govt dosent give u clean water, (drinking or watever, an average nigerian has to get a bore hole or buy bags of pure water/ welcome cholera), it dosent give basic electricity or gas(you have to buy ur own gen), it dosent give a means of transportation (an average Nigerian has to buy a car) even the sectors that are working in education are not govt owned, they are privately owned. from primary to tertiary level. If dangote & obj ( private citizens, whose returns & profits has no biz with our cash flow) dosent produce food we wont eat in Nigeria. So what has he done exactly. I WANT SOME ONE TO PLEASE REPLY MY THREAD AND TELL ME JUST 1 SECTOR OF NIGERIA'S ECONOMY THAT JONATHAN HAS TRULY IMPROVED. AND PLEASE TELL ME HOW IT HAS IMPROVED THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF AN AVERAGE NIGERIAN. am so angry rit now

boneruns: OP,

Instead of you to ask what your avaricious and rapacious lawmakers representing your constituency do with their allocations, you only care about the achievements of GEJ.

Are you so daft to use google? Or are you blind to see the various transformations going in the country?

Before you label me a bottomlicker, I'm not a government apologist. I only state what I see.

It is obvious u r d daft one. If the returns from all this is not coming into nigeria's cash flow at the end of the year, we are getting worse off not better off. Even if he builds 150 houses or new buildings or constructs all d roads and even share rice 4 everybody, that is not the point. The right question is how these will work to improve the quality of life and per capita income of an average nigerian, how these would decrease spendings and increase savings, and where the returns from these factors of production are being put into. ANY THING JONATHAN IS DOING IS TRULY JUST A BIG CLICHE!! BCOZ THE RETURNS FROM WHATEVER HE IS DOING DOES NOT COME INTO NIGERIANS MONETARY CASH FLOW. EVEN THE PPLE U GUYS R CALLING FOREIGN INVESTORS ARE NOT BCOZ DEIR CASH RETURNS IS NOT IN NIGERIA'S CASH FLOW IT IS IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY'S. A DEY ON PRODUCE AND SELL HERE. so this is the process;

NIGERIANS WORK AT DIFF GOVT MINISTRIES--->NIGERIAN'S GET PAID FROM LOCAL ANNUAL CASH FLOW YEARLY BUDGET----->NIGERIANS SPEND SALARY BUYING AND PURCHASING FOREIGN COMPANY'S GOODS & SERVICES----->EXPECTED RETURNS INTO NIGERIAN'S ANNUAL FLOW RUNS AT A NEGATIVE-------> FOREIGN COMPANY TAKE PROFIT TO HOME BASED BRANCH-----> NEGATIVE CASH FLOW IN NIG'S BUDGET GOES INTO FOREIGN COUNTRY'S CASH FLOW.

Politics / Re: FG Signs Solar-Power Deal With India by enny5: 8:44pm On Jul 20, 2013
exxell: The biggest country in Africa that the United
Kingdom colonised is Nigeria. The biggest
country that the United Kingdom colonised in
Asia is India (which then comprised the pres
ent Pakistan and Bangladesh). When the UK came into Nigeria and India, like
all other countries they colonised, they brought
along their technology, religion (Christianity),
and culture: names, dressing, food, and
language, among others. Try as hard as the
British did, India rejected the British religion, names, dressing, food, and even language, but
they did not reject the British technology.
Today, 80.5 per cent of Indians are Hindus;
13.4 per cent Muslims; 2.3 per cent Christians;
1.9 per cent Sikhs; 0.8 per cent Buddhists,
among others. Hindi is the official language of the government of India, but English is used
extensively in business and administration and
has the status of a “subsidiary official
language.” Interestingly, it is rare to find an
Indian with an English name or dressed in suit. On the other hand, Nigeria embraced, to a large
extent, the British religion, British culture –
names, dressing, foods, and language – but,
ironically, rejected the British technology. The
difference between the Nigerian and the Indian
experiences is that while India is proud of its heritage, Nigeria takes little pride in its own
heritage, a situation that has affected the
nationalism of Nigerians and our development
as a nation. Before the advent of Christianity, the Arabs had
brought Islam into Nigeria through the North.
Islam also wiped away much of the culture of
Northern Nigeria. Today, the North has only
Sharia courts but no Customary courts. So from
the North to the South of Nigeria, the Western World and the Eastern World have shaped our
lives to be like theirs and we have lost much or
all of our identity. Long after the Whites and Arabs left Nigeria,
Nigeria has waxed strong in religion to the
extent that Nigerians now set up branches of
their home-grown churches in Europe, the
Americas, Asia and other African countries. Just
like the Whites brought the gospel to us, Nigerians now take the gospel back to the
Whites. In Islam, we are also very vibrant to
the extent that if there is a blasphemous
comment against Islam in Denmark or the US,
even if there is no violent reaction in Saudi
Arabia, the Islamic headquarters of the world, there will be loss of lives and destruction of
property in Nigeria. If the United Arab Emirates,
a country with 75 per cent Muslims, is erecting
the tallest building in the world and encouraging
the world to come and invest in its territory by
providing a friendly environment, Boko Haram ensures that the economy of the North (and by
extension that of Nigeria) is crippled with bombs
and bullets unless every Nigerian converts to
Boko Haram’s brand of Islam. We are indeed a
very religious people. Meanwhile, as we are building the biggest
churches and mosques, the Indians, South
Africans, Chinese, Europeans and Americans
have taken over our key markets: telecoms,
satellite TV, multinationals, banking, oil and gas,
automobile, aviation, and hospitality industries among others. Ironically, despite our exploits in religion, we are
a people with little godliness, a people without
scruples. It is rare to do business with a
Nigerian pastor, deacon, knight, elder, brother,
sister, imam, mullah, mallam, alhaji or alhaja
without the person laying landmines of bribes and deception on your path. We call it PR,
facilitation fee, processing fee, transport money,
financial engineering, deal, or whatever. But if it
does not change hands, no show. And when it
is amassed, we say it is “God’s blessings.” Some
people assume that sleaze is a problem of public functionaries, but the private sector seems to
be worse than the public sector these days. One would have assumed that the more
churches and mosques that spring up in every
nook and cranny of Nigeria, the higher the
morals in our society. But it is not so. The
situation is that the more religious we get, the
baser we become. Our land never knew the type of bloodshed experienced from religious
extremists, political desperadoes, ritual killers,
armed robbers, kidnappers, internet scammers,
university cultists, and lynch mobs. Life has
become so cheap and brutish that everyday
seems to be a bonanza. We import petrol even when we have crude oil
in abundance. We also import rice and beans
that our land can produce in abundance. We
even import toothpicks that primary school
children can produce with little or no effort. Yet,
we drive the best of cars and live in the best of edifices, visit the best places in the world for
holidays and use the most expensive electronic
and telecoms gadgets. It is now a sign of
poverty for a Nigerian to ride a saloon car. Four-
wheel drive vehicles are the in thing. Even
government officials, who were known to use only Peugeot products as official cars as a sign
of modesty, have upgraded to Toyota Prado as
official vehicle without any iota of shame, in a
country where about 70 per cent live below
poverty line. Private jets have become as
common as cars. A nation that imports toothpicks and pins flaunts wealth and wallows
in ostentation at a time its children are trooping
to Ghana, South Africa and the UK for
university education and its sick people are
running to India for treatment. India produces automobile and exports it to the
world. India’s medical care is second to none,
with even Americans and Europeans travelling
to the country for medical treatment. India has
joined the nuclear powers nations. India has
launched a successful mission to the moon. Yet bicycles and tricycles are common sights in
India. But in Nigeria, only the wretched of the
earth ride bicycles. I have intentionally chosen to compare Nigeria
with India rather than China, South Korea,
Brazil, Malaysia, or Singapore, because of the
similarities between India and Nigeria. But
these countries were not as promising as
Nigeria at the time of our independence. Some would say that our undoing is our size:
the 2012 United Nations estimate puts Nigeria’s
population at 166,000 million, while India has a
population of 1.2 billion. Some would blame it
on the multiplicity of ethnic groups: we have
250 ethnic groups, India has more than 2,000. Some would hang it on the diversity in religion:
we have two major religions — Christianity and
Islam; but India has many. Some would say it
is because we are young as an independent
nation: we have 52 years of independence;
India has 65 years. Apartheid ended in South Africa only in 1994. I am a Christian, and nothing can change me
from Christianity. But I think that our country
is daily sinking into religiosity to the detriment
of godliness. Our land is sick and needs healing.
“If my people who are called by my name will
humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I
will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin
and heal their land” is still a saying that is
germane to our current situation. We need
more godliness than religion; more work and
less of hope; and more action and less of words. Let everyone tidy up his or her corner first and
demand fervently that our leaders tidy their
areas of governance. Our nation is degenerating
at a fast pace and we need to save it now or it
may be too late. via PUNCH ====================== http://www.punchng.com/opinion/nigeria-
exports-religion-india-exports-cars/

Nice speech and write up. But Nigerians are a set of truly happy people. Although we have our religious diversity sometimes, Islams or Christians are not the real cause of these problems. We are just pawns for evil and ritualistic politicians who have decided to used that as a basis for change. We have been living peacfully as islams and christains over d decades and never had any issues of war. Infact there was a time wen we prayed together fro achievements of certain economic goals. It is just recently that politicians use this avenue as a means for causing war. d truth is WE KNOW THAT IT IS NEITHER THE CHRISTIANS OR MUSLIMS WHO ARE BOMBING AND KILLING PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, BUT WE KNOW THAT THEY ARE POLITICAL THUGS. some muslims or christains may fall victim to being used as pawns dosent mean der is a war between islam & Christianity. That is exactly what the politicians want and by even writing this, you re giving them what they want.

But i know muslims would start forming brotherhood things if he becomes president even though he himself dosent care about dose tins. A good idea also to answer to the police, but then he has to change the whole police system. becoz the present 1ce are corrupt, old, poverty stricken, unintelligent, unreliable, lazy, an absolutely redundant waste of public funds and they dont even have the intellectual skill set for that kind of job specification. The rent being paid on those building, where is that fund being directed to exactly? Public funds or private funds? Please i hate it when Nigerians cant ask the right questions? You do know that solar also means you have to use a batteries right for off grid applications. Solar does not work at night. batteries have their own environmental disadvantages. Solar is not 100% renewable since it only works half the time. The reason why solar is even an option in advanced economies is because most houses are still connected to the grid. solar can be used in households during the day (i.e. cost of electricity is greatest) and then convention power (from the utilities, electricity cost is less ) is used at night.

LMFAO!!!!!! Solar does not mean direct sun ooo. LMAO. cant stop lafin. Its just photovoltaic panels dat store solar power. Sun cloud or moon. This North-South divide continues to widen, and continues to devolve into violence.
May be someday -we don't know when- Northern Nigeria will realise this author tried to help her, by prodding her to take up a challenge with the South, and attempt to be better.

BTW, soon the Southern competitors, true to their spirit, will hijack this thread and make it into Yoruba vs Igbo.

Mods, I think a thread like this that attempts to solve a foundational problem, needs to get a wide readership. In other words, Front Page please!

The thread dosent make sense sorry. He is giving assumptions and forcing us to accept claims. The norths wanted to rare cows, they didnt want education so dis is not about education. if they use a budget allocation to set up the proposed skills training, are they goin to cut out education allocations from the north? if they would that is fine. If not there are 2 options, allocation of resources for skill set training TO ALL STATES, or the northerns should improve their educational sector with their allocated resources. They cant get more all in the name of skill set. Even if they give them nothing will come out of it. it has been like dis over the years. The north complain about education and 1 war arises form here.
Education / Re: The Harm Nigeria Does To The North - Azuka Onwuka by enny5: 9:45pm On Jul 09, 2013
Am really sorry but i dont think you are objective. Firstly, The nigerian system of education is fair and equal in all states. The northerns,THEMSELVES, moved against western education. You dont need education to succeed, i agree but if you dont want education, you have to come to terms with the fact that you might neva be in charge. There is always going to be a well educated person in charge.I think the major issue of the north is that they are going thru the 5 stages of grief. They are in the denial stage. They cant accept the new and upcoming nigeria where education is becoming a key necessity and a basic requirement. Education is not just about getting a degree. Infact the degree is the least benefit you get from school. The major benefits include Enlightenment of the mind bcoz true poverty and frustration is of the mind and is dependent on ur level of enligntenment. Also other benefits, it makes you openminded, ability to live properly and cohere with people from different backgrounds, ability to see an opportunity to tap from at every turn, teaches you creativity and innovation, confidence, organizational and management skills, teaches you to be objective and smart in thinking. it basically shapens you. The southerners did not get any special treatment as regards education over the years, and the cut off mark was reduced for the north bcoz dey wanted it that way. and they where still failing. If they want skills in rearing cows fine. but they have to be definite on wat dey want, skill allocation or education allocation bcoz dey cant have both.

If we do have proven reserves of coal in Nigeria, Then there should not be any debate about utilizing coal as a means electricity generation, as Nigeria is a developing country and we need to do whatever we can to aid our development.

Obsessing about the effects of coal on the environment should not be our major preoccupation as only developed first world countries can afford such frivolities.

Try telling China and India about powering their economy with coal, and see what their answer will be?
The question has already been answered by the above countries and the answer is that they are entitled to the use of coal to kick start their economy just like the first world countries did.

Nigeria should not be an exception. we are presently in a ditch when it comes to power generation we need to use what ever means to dig ourselves out of that ditch first.once we are out of the ditch like all the advanced countries have done, Then we can worry about clean coal technology which the Americans and the EU are contemplating even though experts tag such technology a phantom.

BTW all those so advanced nations are still utilizing the same Coal to power their nations as of today i haven't heard of any country that's closing down or downsizing their coal power plants. hence whose fooling who about environmental friendliness.

Lordave: nobody bribed me and I'm not a PDP thug. How am my even sure you're not an ACN political tool used to ridicule and belittle our dear presidents achievement. But one thing you should know is that neither APC nor ACN can do any more than GEJ, it's pellucid that you're lamenting about the state of this nation with inner motives.

I am an activist for the new generation! I am a youth of today. so i dont care about acn, pdp, northern leaders, religion or wateva u pple base ur fights on, i am with the younger generation that will eliminate all old hags clogging the presidency and take nigeria to the new information age.
