Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Why Is Life So Unfair? by enoconcernme: 7:48pm On Oct 07, 2018 |
I hope you get to read this. My advice is that you should start over. Trust me you are just 25 years old if you do start over in 5 years time you will definitely get your life back in track. I must point out that starting over in Nigeria is very difficult so here is my advice. Save a little money take GRE/GMAT depending on your area of study. Please study real hard for this exam and consult as many reading materials as possible. Join forums, engage with people that have done it and share their views and experience. With very good grade, good motivation letter and references your chance of getting a scholarship for a master degrees in the states is very high. Many schools in the states will overlook your short comings if your GRE/GMAT is very good couple with a great SOP. When you get there work really hard and with good grades at the end of your masters you would have reset your life and put yourself back in track. It may sound scary but I know a lot of people that have done it. NB: Should you succeed in getting admission with full funding please do not fall into the temptation of being distracted by the family drama back home. Please blank everyone and focus on graduating with a very good grade and with a good job thereafter you can pander to their needs. But if you chose to listen to their complaints and whining and get distracted you will wind up with a low grade and that will place you in a very difficult spot. You don't want to experience that again! Should you have any questions you can always ask me. Good luck in whatever decision you take. 1 Like |

obailala: Of course it doesn't but what I have learnt in my line of work is "verifying source to back up your claim or you just keep it to yourself, " if that makes any sense to you. Well it is NL from all indication most people are here to further an agenda, while the few "naive" ones like us are here hoping to learn something or at least engage others in conversation that impact both ways. Whichever way I will leave you to your task and thanks for keeping our conversations civil; because what I say on this site is mostly people throwing insults around in the name of doing whatever they think they are doing. |

Yyeske: I put that line knowing that you will say this. Bros you really need to understand the Spanish, French and Belgian culture/language to understand the complexities of the issues you just raised. Worse things have been said here and done here ( if not for the fact that the police and security agency are quick to arraign people and get sentenced immediately couple with the fact that cases like hardly get air time in the media so as not to heat the polity ), bro I am part and parcel of this community longer than you can imagine. If you understand Nederlands or French let me know I will point you to where you could listen to local news and hear things for yourself. To be fair to your point; so far non of the guys leading these movements within the past few decades had come out out-rightly to call for the head of others in ways that can not be denied in court. That I can agree with you. |

obailala: Bros when it comes to the issue of prayer you are exaggerating We had shops at Ogbete and New market and I have witnessed when Catholics call for their 12 noon devotion non-Catholics don't even get involved they just go about their normal businesses. No one has been labeled "ekwensu" or chased out of the market because of that. Please do not generalize ejoo. To be honest we never had shops in Aba or Onitsha and I have never been in any of these market places (Aba and Onitsha) when they call for prayers so I can't say what exactly happen there. As for that of Enugu I am sure of what I am saying. Let's assume you said that this was an inter-domination prayer by the market execos then if the rules says no one should open their store then that is the rule. In which case the issue will be is the rule acceptable in this age and time and if not why hasn't it changed? I have lived in the North as well and I know that during Friday prayers some highways are closed off by praying Muslims, Muslims and non-Muslims alike have to wait for the prayer to be over before they continue their journey. I am not saying that in this age and time that such practices should be condone. But trying to paint the issue you claimed above as if it is peculiar to a section of the country knowing the "place" of religion in the lives of present day Nigeria is just an attempt to give a dog a bad name so as to hang it. |

obailala: I asked for source you said all you have was testimonies and that I should take that as fact. I am of the opinion that your opinion or my opinion does not constitute as fact. That is the point bro! |

obailala: Okay chill bro! First and foremost I have friends and families living in the east; among them are friends and families that are originally from the East as well as friends and families that are not Igbos but that are working, schooling and living in the East as well. In addition I spent the greater part of my living in Nigeria in the East followed by Northern Nigeria and SW/SS the least. Yes at least once a week I do speak with a friend or family members that are residing in the East. I think telling someone that I can give them numbers to call does not suffice as evidence for me to make such a wide claim as you did. Don't you think it is better to post a link or rather not make a wide claim about issues based on what you said are testimonies by people you know? Testimonies which we can't by any means verify, testimonies that might be something you concocted. In the absence of concrete evidence I think the safest thing to do is not pander one's opinion as fact. I understand that no government would want to break up a country under their regime but that does not mean we as citizen should sit back and watch our government overstep the line of decency in an effort to keep our country together. This raises the questions at what point do we say, here is the line that can't be crossed ? From all indication it seems that that line as become blurred that our government could do whatever they want to achieve their aim. While those at the other side of the table will cheer and support eventually when the table turns those at the 'giving' side keeps pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable action to the detriment of those at the receiving end. And so does culture of oppression and counter-oppression being kept alive. 2 Likes |

Yyeske: Now you are beginning to shift the goal post 'from that calling for a break up is abominable in any of the western countries" to " those calling for it in those countries didn't call for the head of others". I like engaging in conversation because by the end of the day I sure will learn something new whether I accept it or not. So for us to engage in a meaningful conversation I would like you to point out if this conversation is : about how abhorrent it is to call for independence or how bad it is to call for the head of others hence the need to proscribe them terrorist? You choose how we are going to approach this so as to stay on point on one issues and be all over the places saying a lot without saying anything at the end. Your call bro! |
Politics / Re: IPOB September 14 Sit-At-Home Order: Police Speak, Vow To Arrest Lawbreakers by enoconcernme: 9:04am On Sep 11, 2018 |
Yyeske: "Still trying" is different from "you can't try" I guess you know the difference; because in your post you sounded as if it is an abomination to mention that in the west. Tell me why they have not been proscribed terrorist by the French government or why the Belgian government haven't declared the Flemish group clamoring for breaking away a terrorist or send troops to blockage them whenever they hold a rally ? 1 Like |

obailala: For the sake of prosperity please can you send us links of the so called miscreants harassing people in the past? At this age and time documentation is necessary. Secondly you shouldn't blame people that were 'boiling' over the report, for one the report was not explicit in terms of why the police is putting out the warning and that in itself opens it to different interpretation by all parties. In addition, most Nigerian have apathy towards the police and that comes into play when judging the intentions of any police officer in Nigeria. Please don't forget the source I asked for, thanks in advance. |

Career / Re: How To Build A Successful Career As A Data Scientist by enoconcernme: 9:54am On Sep 02, 2018 |
@Op as someone experienced in this field, SAS SPSS are waste of time when it comes to Data Science. SAS for one is expensive and rigid. To those interested in building a career as a Data Scientist, you should learn R and Python. Both tools are flexible, cost nothing and easy to deploy in production. 9 Likes |
