Autos / 2014 Cars by eobaoja: 4:48pm On Jul 23, 2013
If you have been holding your breath in anticipation of the release of the newest iteration of your favorite car brand(s) and you haven't passed out (yet) from lack of oxygen then you are in luck because I have got the information you need.

After scouring the internet for a couple of hours, I was able to compile a list of release dates for upcoming 2014 vehicles. Please note that for some unreleased models the list is not precise on the month or the day of release. Don't despair, you now have a rough idea of when to expect its release.

See below for a list of 2014 car models and their release dates;

ACURA RLX

This brand new sedan will get Acura's new 3.5-liter V6 making 310 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque.

ACURA MDX
As a luxury crossover utility, the 2014 Acura MDX puts passenger comfort above rugged off-road ability. Its interior, with space for up to seven, is as comfortable and accommodating as those of full-size truck-based SUVs.

CADILLAC CTS
The CTS beauty is available with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 mated to a new eight-speed automatic in rear-wheel drive models or six-speed automatic with all-wheel drive to produce 321 hp.

CADILLAC ELR

The Cadillac ELR uses a 16.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack and can travel up to 35 miles in pure electric mode before the 1.4-liter gasoline-powered generator kicks in. The generator extends the range of the ELR to 300 miles.

CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7 STINGRAY
The all-new Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray incorporates an all-new frame structure and chassis, a new powertrain and supporting technologies, as well as completely new exterior and interior designs.

CHEVROLET IMPALA
The 2014 Impala is Chevy's all-new flagship sedan. It's nice looking, has a good ride and it's loaded with connectivity.

KIA FORTE
The all-new Forte significantly raises the bar, offering upscale amenities and eye-catching appeal.

KIA SORENTO
If the engine is to be considered the heart of any vehicle, it’s safe to assume the new 2014 Sorento has a powerful ticker beneath its sculpted hood; it is simply powerful.

KIA SOUL SHAKER ENGINE
The new Kia Soul Shaker (sounds like the name of a sword in an anime) will be offered with a choice of two engines; a 1.6-liter CRDi turbo-diesel and a 1.6 GDi petrol engine.

RANGE ROVER SPORT
The all-new Range Rover Sport, is the the fastest, most agile and responsive Land Rover ever.

LEXUS IS
The all-new IS kicks things up a notch with true sport sedan driving dynamics, state of the art onboard technologies, and an all-new design that makes it look fast even when it’s standing still.

MASERATI QUATTROPORTE
The Quattroporte is the first installment in Maserati's ambitious expansion plan to lift annual global sales from around 6,000 today to 50,000 by 2015.

MAZDA6
The mid-size sedan can be considered the bread-and-butter vehicle of the automotive industry. It’s not too big, not too small, but just right.

MERCEDES BENZ CLA CLASS
Its breathtakingly sporty proportions and powerfully dynamic design idiom featuring an interplay between concave and convex surfaces give this four-door coupé its unmistakable look.

MITSUBISHI MIRAGE
Making a triumphant return, the all-new 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage 5-door sub-compact is the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline vehicle available in America.

MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER
The Outlander offers a lot of features for its price point while blurring the line between sporty handling and sport utility.

NISSAN VERA NOTE
The Note's is designed to accomplish two things: provide enhanced aerodynamics to help improve fuel economy and to stand out from the crowd of entry-level competitors.
PORSCHE CAYMAN / CAYMAN S
The Germans have declared the Cayman to be a stand-alone car, one distanced from the roadster that shares its engines, transmissions, and architecture by virtue of being stiffer, more powerful, and sportier.

SUBARU FORESTER
The 2014 Forester debuts a bolder exterior design and roomier interior, along with improved performance and higher fuel economy across the line.

The above list is by no means exhaustive. There are a whole lot of car models not cataloged.

Literature / Re: The E-commerce Boom by eobaoja: 11:26am On Jul 01, 2013
deanawah:

Hello, just as it concerns the hurdles of making and receiving payments online, what's the best substitute for liberty reserve now that it's no more?

Would have said paypal but as Nigerians are blacklisted it is a tricky question. There is always debit, credit and master cards
Literature / The E-commerce Boom by eobaoja: 10:04am On Jun 28, 2013
As of August 2012 there were at least 70 E-commerce websites in Nigeria based on the list compiled by Techloy; one of Nigeria’s leading Technology blog (read here) It goes without saying that the Nigerian E-commerce industry has come a long way. These days there seems to be an E-commerce website for almost every item ranging from perfumes, sunglasses, food etc.

It is estimated that the E-commerce market in Nigeria will be worth about $5.6B in the next 5 years. (source). This means that the E-commerce market is very large and growing very fast too as more Nigerians become comfortable with buying online.

A major advantage of E-commerce is the opportunity for entrepreneurship and job-creation. A lot of E-commerce companies have an Affiliate program where everyone interested can make money either by using their website, blogs or word of mouth. Affiliates earn money each time they refer customers to the company’s webpage and a sale is completed. This I believe is a very good way to make money on the side. Apart from the money which can be made, some E-commerce firms have an exquisite Affiliate club with several benefits for every member.

One of the challenges customers face with E-commerce websites is lack of access to a wide variety of products. Customers want the option of being able to choose from a wide variety and at reasonable prices. Customers also want excellent service delivery, product authenticity and swift delivery.

Some of the problems plaguing the E-commerce industry in Nigeria include logistics, payment and infrastructure problems. Logistics is a difficult task due to the complexity of our road network and house numbering system. The other issue with logistics is the inefficiency of our transport system.

There are a lot of things that I believe will contribute to the success of E-commerce companies in Nigeria, however there is one I believe should take precedence above them all. This is excellent customer service delivery. This to me will be the sole factor that will separate the “men from the boys”. It will determine which company will lead the pack. Every E-commerce business should invest in offering excellent service delivery above every other thing not just with lip-service.

One thing is for sure, E-commerce is here to stay and the opportunities are endless. As the years go by, if E-commerce companies in Nigeria get it right in the area of service delivery then the sky will be the takeoff point and not the limit.

Fashion/Clothing Market / Love And Shoes by eobaoja: 9:27am On Jun 28, 2013
Love and shoes!!
Hello People, its Peju here again the shoe lover….lol. It’s been so long since I wrote about my shoes. Being a wife and a career woman in Nigeria is tougher than I thought. Thank God I work for Obaoja, where I can occasionally run down to the warehouse and try on some shoes when no one is looking. It’s actually the best part of my day most days but yesterday just wasn’t. I found her, the perfect mustard shoe mixed with a leopard skin type color. With stars in my eyes I rummaged through the box looking for a size 10 but to
My dismay there was none. With a sad face and fueled with anger I snapped at everyone at work the rest of the day. So to that lucky size 8 girl out there, I hope you are worth this beauty because she deserves a good home.

Signing out…..

Health / Sunburn, Food And The Nigerian by eobaoja: 12:10pm On Jun 18, 2013
A few weeks ago I noticed the side of my face had grown a few shades darker and that it was painful to touch. On a typical day I wouldn’t have spared it a second thought and wouldn’t even realize when it heals but not anymore. Why then did i notice? Is there someone new. Don’t keep asking questions, just scroll down and get educated, I did a little research and turned over the info below.Enjoy!

The Sun in this part of the world is potent enough to boil eggs (or brains) yet most Nigerians do not pay sufficient attention to the parts of their bodies directly exposed to sun rays. Continuous exposure to sun rays can result in Sunburns and yes we get it. Sunburn is not a condition that plagues white people as most black people are led to believe (click here and here for more information). Sun burns are red (mine wasn’t red, must be because I’m black), painful skin that feels hot to the touch; it usually appears within a few hours after sun exposure and may take several days or longer to fade. Sunburn increases the risk of certain complications and related skin diseases these includes but is not limited to; dry, wrinkled skin, liver spots, melanoma and skin cancer.

The most popular preventive method against Sunburns is by using sun screens which is contained in several brands of body creams but seeing as a good number of men do not use body cream (as they do not have or are afraid to use their lady’s own for fear of loosing their skin. Bleaching! holla) so I decided to focus my research on dietary factors that play a major preventive role.

Food can influence susceptibility to sunburn, recovery from sunburn, and risk of secondary complications from sunburn. Below is a list of top rated food that serves perfectly in this capacity;

Potatoes
Overindulging in potatoes may be a no-no if you’re trying to lose weight, but keep a few on hand in case a sunburn strikes. The potato’s starchy compounds will help take the sting out of sunburn.

How: Cut a raw potato into slices and rub a piece on your most painful sunburned spots. For a more intensive treatment, grate a cold raw potato and apply it as a poultice. whole-and-sliced-raw-potatoes

OATMEAL

When your whole body is sunburned, oatmeal provides the best type of relief. I would rather eat it though than waste it on my face.

How: Grind up a cup of oatmeal in a food processor, add it to cool bathwater, and soak. You can also wrap dry oatmeal in cheesecloth or gauze, run cool water through it, and then toss the oatmeal and soak compresses in the liquid, applying every 2 to 4 hours

Fashion/Clothing Market / Jumpsuit Ankara by eobaoja: 11:57am On Jun 18, 2013
I actually made this jumpsuit myself some years ago and I still love it. I acquired this very cool fabric and decided to create something cool and different. In my opinion, jumpsuits are super cool and even better in a print. The fact that this one is in Tribal print (Ankara) makes it all the better. I loved the combination of the yellow and blue. This color combination makes it easy to match it with a ton of accessories. I used both sliver and gold accessories to compliment the cool print and in the spirit of mixing prints I tied my hair up with a pink skull print scarf.
