Life is not what many people think it is. It is not about financial or material abundance; neither is it about physical endowments. Life is definitely not about power, achievements or worldly wisdom. What then is life? Jesus answers this question in John 17:3:
"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."
True life is knowing God and Jesus Christ. In today's Bible reading, God instructs us not to boast of our wisdom, might or riches. He said if we want to boast, we should boast in what we know about Him. When you engage in such boasting, the essence is not to flaunt your knowledge like some people do today; rather, it is to rejoice in the fact that God has revealed Himself to you to that extent. Why should you take pleasure in knowing God? Why should knowing God be something you should be proud of? It is because knowing God can do certain powerful things in your life and in the lives of others around you.
"And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits."
Daniel 11:32
By the revelation of God given to Daniel, we are made to understand that knowing God produces strength and exploits. What kinds of exploits are being referred to here? When you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, and you daily increase in the knowledge of the Holy Trinity, you will not only have eternal life, but the life of God will also be channelled through you to others. For instance, you will lay your hands on the blind, and as the divine life flows through you to such a fellow, he will begin to see. THE NEW ANOINTING

MEMORISE:

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR :
ZEPHANIAH 1- 3 and MATHEW 13:1-23

MESSAGE:
The anointing launches a person into the realm of miraculous (Act 10:38). Maintaining the kind of anointing described in our memory verse requires the putting away of hindrance of its flow in our lives. Holiness is a prerequisite for the new anointing. When the new anointing came into the life of Peter, he began to experience tremendous changes. The anointing put an instant end to a monotonous routine of waking up, eating, going to fish, coming back home, eating and sleeping. With the presence of the new anointing, everything changed in his life. His life became full of excitement from the moment the new anointing directed him to launch out into the deep (Luke 5:2-. God will add new excitement to your life today in Jesus’ Name.

The new anointing also ushers in the beginning of joy, success, progress and divine assistance. With it, you are enabled to achieve everything God wants you to achieve in life. The one who has been written off and marked as causing shame will suddenly begin to bring glory to his family. With the presence of the new anointing, God goes beyond the ordinary to give you a miracle (2nd Kings 5:10-14). This anointing guarantees your protection from the evil of this world. God anointed David and promoted him at the same time; hence, David was able to rule in the midst of his enemies. This year, all your enemies will leave you alone, and right in their presence, you will reach your goal. Before their very eyes, you will eat and have abundance, because God will give you a crown that no one can take away. However, note that every sin in your life reduces your chance of overflowing in the new anointing. Therefore, avoid anything that will hinder your from experiencing the supernatural.

YOUR HORN SHALL BE EXALTED

MEMORISE:

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR :
Jeremiah 31:31-32:44, Acts 21:17-36

MESSAGE:
The word “horn” is used both literally and symbolically in the Bible. It is used to describe the keratin-based growth on the head of animals. The horn of dead animals is sometimes converted to musical instruments or used as vessel for anointing oil. However, the horn has significant metaphorical meanings. It is a symbol of power, help, victory or glory. To lift up the horn connotes success, while a broken horn denotes defeat. It is with this understanding that Hannah rejoiced in the Lord by saying my horn is exalted in the Lord. May the Name of the Lord be praised and exalted for evermore in Jesus’ Name. As you meditate on the word of the Lord today, your horn shall be exalted in Jesus’ Name.

Exaltation has a spiritual connotation. It means to glorify, lift high, promote or raise a person to a higher status or position. It therefore follows that exaltation is of the Lord and only God and God alone is worthy of exaltation. However, Hannah said “my horn is exalted in the Lord”. Psalm 75:6-7 also says,
“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.”
This means that God can choose to exalt a person. In the Bible, we see some beneficiaries of the special grace and mercy of God in this regard. They include Abraham, Joseph, Hannah, Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon.

God caused Joshua to be exalted in Joshua 3:7:
“And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day will I begin to magnify thee in the sight of all Israel, that they know that, as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee.”
This same God is still alive today; He doesn’t change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Today, He will visit you with His love, mercy and favour. The Bible in Psalm 75:10 says,
“All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.”
Because you are made righteous by the blood of Jesus, you are a special candidate for exaltation. Your horn shall be exalted in the mighty Name of Jesus.

ACTION POINT:
Learn humility. Humility leads to exaltation.

MESSAGE:
Jesus left a group of 11 apostles behind when He ascended to heaven. He left them with a purpose and a mission to the world. He left them in the world, not to get absorbed or influenced by it, but to change it. Did they succeed? They very well did. Not long after Jesus had gone, in far away Thessalonica, the people exclaimed that the Christian brethren had “turned the world upside down”. This was an acknowledgement of the fact that they had brought change to the world (Acts 17:6).

For us in this generation, we should realise that the generation that the world cannot change is the generation that will change the world. If the believers of old were flowing with the Satan influenced current of their time, they would not have made any impact and they would not have passed down the torch of the gospel effectively through successive subsequent generations.

To change the world, you need to understand the current situation of the world, its functions and the active players involved. You cannot change a system you know nothing about. Some of us don’t know the current trends in the world around us. If you truly see yourself as being on a mission for God on earth, you cannot afford not to care about what is going on around you. Even our Lord Jesus Christ was aware that a tower fell on some people in Siloam and was able to appropriately reply those who asked Him questions regarding the incident (Luke 13:4). Next, you need to map out your strategy. Through careful planning, strategise for the desired change you want to introduce, considering the resources at your disposal in Christ and who is behind your vision (Luke 14:28). Having done all these, “stick to your guns” in Christ. Don’t be lured away from your objective, don’t succumb to intimidations or blackmail and don’t be distracted (Philippians 3:13-14).

ACTION POINT:
How much are you contributing towards changing the world by witnessing Jesus Christ? Be involved!

MESSAGE:
God is the only one whose knowledge covers both actual and possible happenings. He knows everything about things that are, and He has the knowledge of all things that could have been. Concerning you, He knows everything, down to the very thought of your heart. Even the things you will think of in future, He knows them (Psalm 139: 1-2). The devil’s knowledge is not in any way close to the level of God’s knowledge at all. He does not know the thought of your heart unless you reveal it one way or the other. Don’t ever make the mistake of equating Satan’s level of knowledge with that of God. Although Satan makes the most of his limited knowledge in advancing the interest of his kingdom, God is able to turn his wisdom and the wisdom of all your enemies into foolishness. This was demonstrated in the case of Moses, who was born to deliver Israel from their captivity in Egypt.

Several years earlier in Genesis 15:13-14, when God was speaking to Abraham that his descendants would be in servitude for four hundred (400) years in a strange land, Satan heard it. At the expiration of the four hundred (400) years, Satan knew that a saviour would be born for the deliverance of God’s people. So he put machinery in place to eliminate this saviour in order to stall the liberation of God’s people. One element of his grand plan was the enthronement of a Pharaoh who would not acknowledge Joseph or what he had done for Egypt. This Pharaoh was therefore hostile to God’s people. Satan used him to decree the killing of all Hebrew male children. In spite of this, Moses the liberator was raised under his very nose, in his palace and with his resources. If Satan knew everything, Moses would not have survived, he would have exposed him. God is able to raise you up in the midst of your enemies. Indeed, the Lord will blindfold all those seeking after your life and they will become your greatest asset, helpers, providers and stepping stones to greater heights in Jesus’ Name.

ACTION POINT:
Worship the most High God for His exclusive attribute of being the all knowing and for being able to bring His counsel to pass in your life, irrespective of all that the enemies may plan.

5:3 And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.

5:4 And one went in, and told his lord, saying, Thus and thus said the maid that is of the land of Israel.

This so-called Cause is God and there is nothing He created that has no purpose. Whatever God permits to come to you or to come your way has a purpose. There is a purpose behind you being an African, European, Asian or American. Far beyond the superficial things you may be looking for in that your exalted position in that organisation, God may have something in mind for you to accomplish. Maybe you got sponsored and supported to occupy a political office or maybe you are in government, have you found out why He opened that door to you, or are you busy seeking mundane things for yourself like the ungodly and unpatriotic ones?

In some cases, God’s purpose might bring you into an unpleasant or undesirable situation, just like the young girl in today’s Bible reading. She was taken captive from her native land in Samaria to the far and strange land of Syria. However, see what great effect the quiet little counsel she gave her mistress had in the life of the great but leprous commander of the Syrian army, and by extension the entire nation of Syria. Beyond the healing of her master, she projected the God of her fathers among the heathen, so that He might be feared and honoured. It is a pity that some Christians today do things that bring shame and reproach to the name of God. Such people misrepresent God through their compromising acts among sinners. Hear what the little girl said in 2 Kings 5:3:
“And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.”
It was just this one-minute piece of information God was waiting for to orchestrate a chain of events that would culminate in His name being glorified among the heathen. From this story, we also learn why it is good to be nice and kind to those who are around us, even servants, housemaids, gardeners, drivers etc. Some bosses despise and treat their subordinates inhumanely. Some housemaids, drivers and workers are treated as though they are not human beings (Colossians 4:1). If Naaman and his wife had been maltreating this maid, she probably would not have given them the counsel that led to the removal of their shame and reproach.

Objectively identify what exactly you are living for.
