Crime / Re: Businessman Raises Alarm Over A New Scam In Town (video) by erniok(m): 5:03pm
Mistral:
Here is a summary of the key points from the provided video for those without data:

The video describes a new social media scam targeting people who want to make purchases online, particularly on platforms like Facebook Marketplace or Instagram. The scam works as follows:

1. The scammer posts an item for sale, such as a phone or other product.

Modified: your summary is all wrong.

2. When someone is interested in buying the item, the scammer requests the buyer's address, but does not ask for payment upfront.

3. The scammer then goes to a verified seller on a platform like Google and purchases the same item, using the buyer's address.

4. The scammer has the verified seller ship the item to the buyer's address, but does not inform the buyer that they are getting the item from a different seller.

5. When the buyer receives the item, the scammer will ask them to make payment, claiming it is for the original seller.

6. If the buyer tries to contact the original seller to confirm, the scammer will block both the buyer and the original seller to hide the scam.

The advice given to avoid this scam is:

1. Always insist on meeting the seller in person to inspect the item before purchase.
2. Ensure the payment is made directly to the verified seller, not the scammer.

Overall, the video warns about this new social media scam tactic and provides tips to help buyers protect themselves.

Your advise #2 is wrong. What he advised was the buyer insists payment details must be written on the receipt.

Midified: your summary is all wrong. I thought it was the advise you got wrong.

If you want to deliberately kill yourself, government doesn't owe you to stop you. That's why I mentioned enlightenment.

The truth is that many countries are already considering what I wrote here and you will see them implementing in the coming years.

Most times, the addict had no intention to kill himself. Just one try and then comes the addiction. This is unlike cigarette smoking that one time won't get you addicted in most cases and as such, you need sensitisation to warn people. This is more potent and devastating to say the least.

On your 2nd paragraph, it hope for the sake of their citizens such notion is discarded. It will only end in chaos and anarchy.

Very stupid decision even though I guess you’ve done it for more times than you can remember.

You should have read the news. They were deceived thinking they were still in mexico to check out some fields.

Just like tobacco, governments around the world should lift the ban on illegal drugs, tax those who sell them and focus on sensitising the people to the dangers of consuming recreational drugs. I don't understand why a substance that doesn't hold much value can be this expensive; it makes no sense whatsoever. If they do that, the price of cocaine and its ilk will crash in less than one year.
Not a smart talk. They look at the effect of this substance on those taking it. If you ever come in contact with an addict, then you'll understand why they come so hard on them.

You are still not getting it bro . We ain't saying those app don't take ur data but the thing is the data value we get from telcos has reduced drastically. If the value were to be okay, the data those app takes wouldn't have been that much enough to empty balance in just a jiffy unlike what we are experiencing currently. So the telcos knows what they are doing to us . Especially mtn.

He's correct. Download an app called glassware, youd be surprised that you network data usage tallies with the app.

No regulation!

Once again, I don’t blame them
Mtn data is cheaper than glo data and better without the nonsense that glo does; splitting your data into night and day options you never asked for.

House of Reps is already amending that law to allow only companies with about 25 employees and above to comply with that minimum wage regulation.

Well, I don't think it's a good move though because there are companies that don't need up to 25 employees to make millions of naira every month.

Meanwhile, Nigeria doesn't need two houses - House of Reps and Senate. They are just creating confusion.

Na copy copy carry us get the 2 houses ohh. Be like copier wey go copy surname plus reg. # join.

I can remember clearly but if I don't please refer me to it.

Never in my words did I use the word 'forget' in relation to colonialism in Africa.

In my words, I said we should stop using colonialism and it effects to justify our current position on the global stage, it's time we make good decisions that'll benefit Africa and Africans alone.

If not for bad leaders, we won't be in this position we are today as a continent let alone countries. This was why I used India as an example to validate my points.

We can't forget what they did to us, but our current underdevelopment and impoverishness is as a result of bad leadership and not necessarily the west's hegemony.

Germany and Russia prior to this war were doing business on common grounds and I'm sure they'll return to doing business once this war is over, does that means Germany and Russia are very good friends considering the history between both countries?
All dealings between both countries are for their own benefits, Russia is for Russians and Germany is for German, and it was businesses that brought them together.
An African man will forget about his people that put him into power and loot everything he can to fill up his pocket, by signing generational deals that'll destroy his country there after we blame the west for every misfortune forgetting that our black leaders sold us out to the whites.

Bros, what happened to US public officials staying neutral in a country's political process? John Kerry came to Nigeria and made some statements that supported Buhari, I could remember vividly. I see the western media as an extension of the western imperial power. Their narrative always follows that of the interest of the American elite on foreign issues. It is only in domestic issues that you have pro-left and pro-right media. Mind you, media wasn't even in favour of Obi in Nigeria, it was mostly social media. How many pro-Obi articles did you see in Punch or The Nation?

I was talking about their media. Ours did but were few.

If their media was an extension of their imperial power, can we agree that the imperial power favoured HE Obi the most?

I very much agree they should stay neutral in every country political decision and when trump running mate mentioned something to this effect, I was happy because it'shigh time US starts minding her business.

Like most US tacit operations, they did not officially declared support for Buhari but their actions and declarations favoured him. Jonathan has spoke extensively on this and you can get tons of media reports on it. The US sabotaged Jonathan's fight against Bomo Haram. The US media wrote several opeds declaring that Buhari is a better candidate.

The same way their press wrote mostly in favour of HE Peter Obi. They just mostly follow the general public sentiments.

Jonathan spoke about their body language. One question: if HE GEJ had covered himself in glory, kept his party together that there was no Npdp, do you think APC would have been on power today?

In Nigeria's case, as a heterogeneous country, i truly believe resting too much power in the hands of one person will not work as there are too many conflicting powerful groups. True federalism is the ideal, yet the current political leadership have selfishly refused to implement that and they would not unless they are forced to by an event bigger than them. It could be a mass revolution that dissolves the current republic and forces a constitutional review. It could also be a temporary military coup with a transitional period where the entire structure is rearranged and elections follow.

But you cannot look at military coups and condemn them in totality. Some good have come of coups in other countries.

With our diverse cultures, tribes, etc. Coup is just a fairy tale unless you believe say a northern military officer won't kowtow to demands 9f the north. Do you believe this?

You're still buttressing my point. Civilian rule is far more corrupt than the so called military rule. When Buhari was incompetent he was removed by another coup of IBB. But in civilian rule you cannot even impeach a bad leader because both he and the senators are all eating the money together.

I'm not buttressing any point unless you did not read my post or deeply understood it. You stated civilian rule is corrupt and I countered it with 2 corrupt military rule.

Look at US that you have strong institution and compare Nixon gate.i stated severally that what democracy always needs to work is strong institutions and I also pointed out some of the ways we can achieve that. What I will agree on is that we are yet to have a leader with the will power to help us realise this.

So if the civilian government we have today won’t do the needful in amending and implementing an amended constitution who will?. You surely don’t expect the citizenry to, we have no power to in this god forsaken land. You recognise the problems but you refuse to think of what we need to do as collective peoples to create a solution we so crave for, no matter how radical given that we recognise whom and what stops us from having the country we so desire. You are comfortable with this abomination of a government because in your mind it’s better than anyone else. Stay comfortable, posterity WILL judge us all.
Getting all emotional solves nothing and for the records, I do not like in the slightest way, what our country has turned to but you need to acknowledge the army you so much hope will save you may grossly disappoint you.

Before BAT became the president, he was arguing that we need restructuring and now, no sign of that yet. The problem with the political class is the will power to effect the right changes and damn the consequences. For example, the federal character principle needs to be urgently addressed to bring out the best but no one would want to do so because a section of the country would get offended. Don't think the military would touch it with a long spoon.

Any take over by southern officers will definitely lead to a counter coup by northern officers and should northern officers take over, they'd want to maintain the status quo to please their people. You can take this to the bank.

True federalism, giving states power over their resources, strengthening state institutions remains our best options but who will bell the cat.

Currently tell me what the civilian government have done that the military didn't do?

Our civilian government is even worse than military regime. Looting, abuse of power, abuse of human rights, corruption and more corruption without doing anything for the people. In as much as the military regime is not what we want but bro civilian rule in Nigeria has been worse that military rule. The military built most of not all the federal roads and some roads have remained like that to now. Make we dey talk truth abeg.

This shows you know so little about what happened during the military. What happened to the gulf war oil windfall during IBB? It is being said mike adenuga became rich as a civilian IBB boy and so were his army cronies. Read up orka coup speech and tell me if he did not accuse IBB regime of unabated corruption. Was a governor not accused of being stupendously rich because he helped Abacha launder our collective wealth. In the military, once order is given, it is obeyed(OBC). They can steal everything and order the CBN gov to reveal nothing.

Dunno why you keep looking for a military rule. Strengthen you weak institutions through constitution amendment if need be. US has amended their's 27 times to tweak it to suit them and everyday, we keep crying how weak the 1999 constitution is, have constitution reviews that we won't implement. The military coming wont guarantee the economic prosperity you are looking forward to.

And how does this justify the USA after refusing to sell weapons to us and then stabbed us in the back with the bringbackourgirls campaign?
It's your responsibility to bring back your girls and they only lent a voice like some are doing in both Gaza and Ukraine case even if they can't send troops and in Gaza case arms.

In arms deal, GEJ bungled it up like SA deal. There are diplomatic channels to use and give assurance that it won't be used on your citizens. If need be, you pay a personal visit on this issue. Indira Gandhi did same for india so also did so in the past when india was having issues with Pakistan. Most people viewed GEJ as a weak and indecisive leader and it affected his performance in the election.
