Former president Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the milestone attained by Wizkid in the MOBO Awards where the singer took away the prize for the “Best International Act’.
Wizkid

Wizkid took the Award from a category that included music heavyweights like Jay-Z, Drake, Travis Scott and Kendrick Lamar.

Congratulating the “Ojuelegba” crooner, the ex-president wrote “When Nigeria does well, I cannot help but feel well. My happiness is tied to the happiness of Nigeria and when Nigerians break records and take the name of Nigeria to greater heights it exhilarates me.

“Thank you Wizkid for raising Nigeria’s flag high for the positive, not the negative. Your emergence as the Best International Act at the #MOBOAwards is a proud moment for Nigeria. And the fact that you emerged over JAY-Z and Drake makes it even more celebratory. WELL DONE. GEJ”

This is an addition to the numerous awards already won by Wizkid

Aisha Yesufu on Sunday blast the Kaduna state governor and rubbish President Buhari fight against corruption. The Governor El-Rufai mocking the PDP and its plan to fight corruption better than the APC and President Buhari if given the chance by Nigerians in 2019.

Governor El-Rufai who tweeted through his twitter handle @elrufai said:

SUNDAY JJOKE: “We will fight corruption better than APC when we take over in 2019 – PDP”. For more jokes text PDP to 419. .
https://twitter.com/elrufai/status/934734493553963009

In a swift reply, Aisha Yesufu rubbished the governor's claim and the current fight against corruption by President Buhari. In her tweet she said:

You got it wrong Mr Governor. The real joke is APC before election "We will fight corruption when we get into power" After election APC:You are only corrupt if you are not in APC Right now the code is APC to 419 Upgrade sir!
https://twitter.com/AishaYesufu/status/934736722193207296

Remember an APC senator once said Buhari uses insecticide to fight corruption outside but deodorant in house... He has defeated the saying that charity begins at home.

Just last week the APC in Lagos welcomed with merriment a former Minister who is been prosecuted for Corruption.

Politics / Senate Probes ‘diversion Of N20trn Stamp Duties’ by erunz(m): 4:35pm On Nov 14, 2017
The senate has directed its committee on finance, banking and insurance to investigate allegations of unremitted stamp duties revenue valued at about N20 trillion.

The panel will probe the implementation of the stamp duty act collection in the last five years and report its findings, observations and recommendations to the senate in about eight weeks.

John Enoh, senator, Cross River central, led the motion entitled ‘Urgent need to investigate allegations of unremitted Stamp Duty Revenue running into trillions of naira’.

He said N20 trillion due to be paid into the federation account from stamp duty charges on bank transactions was withheld between 2015 and 2017.

The senator said the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) declared in 2013 that stamp duties revenue accruals from five states alone were over N160 billion.

Enoh made reference to the stamp duty act in line with the nation’s revenue structure.

“The provision for stamp duty in the revenue framework of the nation’s annual budget for 2015, 2016 and 2017 has been N8.713 billion, N66.138 billion and N16.96 billion respectively,” he said.

Supporting the motion, Suleiman Hukunyi, senator representing Kaduna north, called for the need to demand notice on all unremitted stamp duties.

“The figures here do not show probity,” he said.

“The allocations of the stamp duties of the three years running appeared not to have been given any attention. According to a report, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said only five states were approved to be on stamp duties.

“Without gainsaying, the figures provided here are alarming. As a matter of necessity, we should approve the motion for a probe.”

Politics / Declare Fulani Herdsmen Terrorists Now – Reps Member, Gyang Begs Buhari by erunz(m): 2:27pm On Nov 14, 2017
A member of the House of Representatives, Istifanus Gyang, has said that Fulani herdsmen should be profiled and proscribed as terrorists by the Buhari led Federal Government.

According to him, Fulani herdsmen should be treated in the same manner as Boko Haram insurgents.

Gyang, said this in Abuja yesterday while reacting to a statement by a socio-cultural organisation, the Plateau Patriotic Youth Movement (PPYM), asking him to face his legislative business and desist from playing petty politics with the crisis in the state.

Gyang also condemned the fracas between security personnel attached to the Joint Military Task Force and residents of Sopp community in Riyom Local Government Area, in which three youths were shot.

The legislator had accused the soldiers of “sexual harassment and deliberate shooting”.

But the PYYM asked him to “deliver practical dividends of democracy rather than play politics.”

Reacting, Gyang said “Anyone or persons saying that the attacks and killings in my constituency are a basis for partisanship and politicking must either be insane or is simply being insensitive to the bloodbath that has been witnessed all this while.

“I take exception to such unfortunate insinuations. We must not trivialize issues that have to do with the lives of a people that are being hunted and killed as men hunting wild game. It is indeed sad and very unfortunate.

“Today, one-quarter of Barkin Ladi LG and one-third of Riyom LG are under occupation by the very persons that were welcomed and accommodated by their Berom hosts. The narrative that the attacks are simply conflicts between farmers and herdsmen is no longer tenable.

“The truth is that there is a quest by the herdsmen to forcefully acquire land and territory for occupation. Under this unfortunate development, the Nigerian state and government, which have the constitutional responsibility of protecting citizens from aggression have left the victims at the mercy of the marauding herdsmen.

“These attacks have to be profiled and classified as acts of insurgency and treated with the same response as Boko Haram has been handled.”

Politics / Lagosians Are Excited To Embrace ADP As A Credible Alternative by erunz(m): 8:50am On Nov 11, 2017
November 11th, 2017

PRESS RELEASE

Lagosians Are Excited To Embrace ADP As A Credible Alternative

Lagosians are excited about the formation of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Lagos State and they are very optimistic about the fortunes of the party in the coming 2019 elections.

This is evident in the joy we see citizens express whenever we visit gatherings or Local Government Areas of the state. It is apparent that Lagosians are totally fed up with the ruling All Progressive Congress that continues to enrich an already rich elite while the masses suffer in abject poverty.

Our party, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) was formally registered in June 2017 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, and ever since, the party has been spreading to every parts of Nigeria and most especially, Lagos. The residents of the state have now seen a credible alternative that can utilize the massive resources of the state to aggressively develop it.

Our party, guided by social ideals, has made it clear that its formation is to distinctively depart from the old ways of politicking where a microscopic few will continue to short-change millions of other Nigerians while they rob the state in broad daylight.

The ADP, is akin to a corporative society where majority of the citizens will have input on how the state affairs should be run. The ADP will depart from civil rule to a proper democracy where the lives of citizens will be improved through policies and programmes.

Since the party's launch in Lagos, our membership base continues to grow astronomically. Lagosians are joining in their hundreds of thousands in all the 20 local government areas and the 37 LCDAs on a daily basis.

Our party, ADP will ensure real development in Lagos; we will remove impunity; we will have a transparent government that will be accountable to the electorate and our party shall not entertain godfatherism in our system because the party belongs to all Lagosians.

Our party will allow Lagosians to decide and choose for themselves who they want to lead them and how they want to be led. Our party will not allow imposition or deception disguised as performance while millions continue to wallow in abject poverty. Our promise is that a vote for us, is a vote to massively develop the state in all its ramifications.

Lagos resources will be used to develop Lagos, our youths will be taken off the streets and be meaningfully engaged while basic infrastructure will be provided. Eradication of poverty will be our main focus as a party to ease the hardship of the masses in the state. We firmly believe that Lagos can be more than what its current leadership celebrates right now.

Politics / Reno Omokri Blasts Osinbajo For ‘lying’ Against Jonathan, Says VP Now ‘unequally by erunz(m): 7:43pm On Nov 07, 2017
Former presidential aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri has accused Vice President Yemi Osinbajo of defaming former President Jonathan.

The accusation which is coming a second time in four weeks, slammed Osinbajo for his continued and libellous defamation of former President Jonathan with “lies unbecoming his position as Vice President and his calling as a pastor.”

According to a statement by Omokri on Tuesday, the vice president spoke yesterday (Monday, 6th of October 2017) in Abuja at the legislative economic summit themed “Legislative Framework for Economic Recovery and Sustainable Development”.

“At that event, he accused the Jonathan administration of not building any infrastructure for Nigeria and frittering away the nation’s wealth saying “Of course, we all know that there was very little by the way of investment in infrastructure and capital projects. In fact, in 2015, capital spend was less than 11%. So, there was very little to show for where this money went.”

“This is a barefaced lie and it is sad that the Vice President has decided to descend so low.

“It is on record that the Jonathan administration is only second to the Yakubu Gowon administration in terms of infrastructure.

“The most expensive and valuable project built in Nigeria in the last 20 years is the $1.8 billion Abuja-Kaduna 187 kilometres super-fast railway that enables Nigerians work in Abuja and live in Kaduna.

“This project was built and completed by the Jonathan administration. Does the Vice President know this?

“Also, former President Jonathan revived the Nigerian Railways in five of the six geo-political zones restoring direct rail service from Lagos to Kano, Port Harcourt to Maiduguri and Makurdi to Gombe.

“When Rotimi Amaechi took over as minister of transport in 2015, he said “In fact, I think we have a problem; most people don’t believe that the railway transport is functioning in Nigeria. I didn’t even know, until I started this tour, I never knew that the railway was functioning, it was even from his (MD’s) speech that I learnt that there are some coaches or services that go to Kano or Port Harcourt or elsewhere.”

“My question to the Vice President is who built these rail infrastructures that Amaechi was referring to?

“Under former President Jonathan, Nigeria for the first time had national radar coverage through the the Total Radio Coverage of Nigeria (TRACON) project completed by the Jonathan administration in 2012. TRACON is the reason Nigeria no longer has frequent air crashes. Can Vice President Osinbajo deny that this was done by the Jonathan government?

“Going further, the Jonathan administration completed the $600 million 750 MW Olorunsogo II Power Station in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. Does the Vice President deny this?

“The Jonathan government also built the 504 MW simple cycle Gas Alaoji Power station in Aba, Abia State. Is this also a lie?

“That administration also built 12 brand new federal universities including the only federal university in President Buhari’s state of Katsina. The Jonathan administration also constructed and completed 165 Almajiri schools all over Northern Nigeria.

“Nigerians will recall that the Jonathan administration rebuilt the Benin-Ore portions of the Benin-Lagos road, the Vom-Manchok road, the Kano-Zaria Road bridge in Kano (named after late Emir Ado Bayero) and many more.

“These are just a few of the many projects that the Jonathan administration provided for Nigerians.

“Now, I urge Nigerians to compare these projects with what has been conceived of, started and completed by the Buhari administration which has only been able to initiate and complete only one project in two and a half years, which is the helipad in Daura.

“How can an administration that cannot even provide paracetamol for the Aso Rock clinic despite over N3billion budgeted for it under President Buhari (according to the First Lady) accuse the Jonathan administration that refurbished 10 general hospitals for the masses across Nigeria?

“Another lie from the Vice President was when he said Jonathan reduced “external reserves from $45 billion to $28 billion as of May 2015.”

“Why would the Vice President continue to lie so childishly?

“There was never a time that the external reserve was $45 billion under Jonathan. The reserves were $33-35 billion under Jonathan. The money the Vice President added to make it $45 billion was the Excess Crude Account which Jonathan refused to touch until members of Mr. Osinbajo’s party, the All Progressive Congress, led by the then Governor of Rivers state and chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Rotimi Amaechi, took the Federal Government to court and got the Supreme Court to force the Jonathan administration to share that money with them.

“It is very sad that a man of whom we had expected to so much from has reduced himself to a pathetic liar.

“But Nigerians would note that the Vice President’s lies intensified with the exposure of the $25 billion contract scam at the NNPC and the Maina scam of which the head of Service revealed that the President was aware contrary to what he told the Nigerian people.

“We will continue to pray for Vice President Osinbajo who is obviously unequally yoked and is now mixing light with darkness.”

Politics / Re: Soldier Writes Buhari: We Borrow Money From Civilians To Feed by erunz(m): 11:19am On Nov 06, 2017
father01:
A soldier who refused to disclose his identity has written a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari to complain about the alleged corruption in the army.

The officer on the frontline of the war against insurgency wrote the letter in reaction to the army’s dismissal of the complaints of Abdulrauf Aliyu, a private of the Nigerian army.

Aliyu had complained that he was abandoned after being shot by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

But Sani Usman, spokesman of the army, denied the allegation, saying Aliyu was declared a deserter for leaving the hospital he was receiving treatment without being cleared by the authorities.

Usman said as a deserter, Aliyu should be apprehended and handed over to the nearest military unit or police station, if seen.

“This is a clear case of a deserter from the Nigerian army trying to run a campaign of calumny against the Nigerian army on Social Media,” Usman had said.

But the soldier who wrote the letter spoke in defence of Aliyu and also drew attention to the plight of his colleagues.

A picture of the rice served to soldiers. Not a single meat in it
He said knowing what they signed for, soldiers “expect to die in the hands of the enemy, not in the hands of the Nigerian Army”.

The letter in full:

Having read the online correspondence between Dr. Idris Ahmed of CUPS and our Army spokesman, Brigadier General S.K. Usman, I have decided to take a major risk and write to your Excellency directly over this issue.

Sir, I am a course-mate of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu, who Oga S.K. claimed that he has gone AWOL. We trained at the same company, Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria, Kaduna State. We are presently posted to Operation LAFIYA DOLE. On behalf of all the colleagues of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu, I categorically refute the allegation that Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu deserted the Army. The Sections 59 – 63 of the Armed Forces Act, Cap A20, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as quoted by Oga S.K., has always been mentioned by our superiors, to protect themselves and antagonise us, whenever they have done mischief.

Your Excellency, the case of Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu is actually not an isolated one. There are many such cases of soldiers who got wounded on the battlefront. It is true, some are well looked after, as mentioned by Oga S.K. Usman in his press release. Unfortunately, due to corruption in the system, some unfortunate soldiers, mostly from less privileged backgrounds, are left to fend for themselves. Like myself, Pvt. Abdulrauf Aliyu comes from a humble family. He sustained life-threatening injuries in the abdomen during a routine operation. The initial first aid treatment and medical care that he received was very inadequate. With full Army permission, Pvt Abdulrauf Aliyu and his family paid for his transfer to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, the care he received in Maiduguri Teaching Hospital too was inadequate. Eventually, his family had to pay for his transfer to a specialist facility in Sokoto.

Your Excellency, corruption in the Army is REAL, and it is killing us. Every man and woman who decided to join the Army knows the risks. While we expect to die in the hands of the enemy, we don’t expect to die in the hands of the Nigerian Army, due to corruption and criminal negligence.

Just the other week, about 14 (I am not sure of the exact numbers) of our colleagues died in the hands of Boko Haram, who attacked the Army camp. The circumstances surrounding their unnecessary death warrants a full investigation by his Excellency. Sir, you will be shocked of the outcome. The bodies of the slain heroes are still lying here in Damaturu, Yobe State. The story of this incidence has hardly been officially published by the Army or Nigerian media. Attached is the picture of the commander of the camp. He too died in the attack.

Your Excellency, this is the third month in a row that we have been denied of our operations allowance. We have to rely ONLY on our meagre salary for everything. From battalion commanders, to Company and Sectors leaders, we are all in debt, because our salaries are not enough to sustain us at the battlefront while feeding our families back at home. It is a big shame that we have joined the Army to defend the civilians, yet we have to go to the civilians in town to borrow money to fend for ourselves at the battlefront.

Take for instance the food that we are fed. Most of the times it is not fit for human consumption. I attach for your perusal, your Excellency, the lunch that was fed to us this afternoon (3/11/2017). As you can clearly see, there is not a single piece of meat or fish in it. The taste of the food is so bad that we have to add surplus salt to be able to eat it. This is also dangerous for our health. A plate of our food per soldier is probably about two hundred Naira (N200).

It is said that the Federal Government spends about fourteen thousand Naira (N14,000) on each prisoner in Nigeria. Here, at the battlefront in Operation LAFIYA DOLE, the Army spends about six hundred Naira (N600) per day per soldier on feeding us, while in reality billions of Naira is appropriated per year for this purpose. Your Excellency, we are treated like animals. Most of us are afraid to talk because of the dire consequence.

As the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, your Excellency, kindly investigate. There is corruption in the Army. Brave soldiers are needlessly dying.
