Hello future Canadian citizens. Thank you all for the quite detailed thread, very insightful.

Lawyers in the house, do I need a practising licence to be evaluated or just the Law degree Certificate, LLB. I am concerned because I missed one bar exam paper, and i have to take it later to finally clear and get my practising cert after being called to the bar.
Does it mean I have to clear and be called to the bar before applying for the EE to use the option of a professional degree or LLB is enough?

This will help me know if I can commence the application or wait until next year.

Thank you all in advance.

Be careful here.... While you don't need your call to bar certificate to get your LLB evaluated as a professional degree by IQAS, there have been cases where the VO has requested for evidence to practice, which is your call certificate.

I can't remember who, but someone on this thread was asked to submit hers which she did. I also submitted mine upfront. Lets be clear, you are not really licensed to practice in Nigeria if you haven't been called to Bar, despite having your LLB. and especially if you are claiming work experience as a lawyer

Errrmmm, London Visa Office children, can I have that drink of patience you people give to yourselves? Your recently aware family member needs a little of it. Biko.

Awwww, personally I don't think LVO is the death sentence a lot of people act like it is. I'd rather have my application processed by LVO and eventually get my PPR than have it quickly rejected by Ottawa grin

Abeg cheer up. Meanwhile, how did you find out your vo?

Any insight?

You are in IP1. Next stage is supposed to be IP2 but with recent trends people have been moving from IP1 straight to PPR. I'd say give it 1 more month and if no change then order your gcms notes

Many congratulations to those who passed their IELTS, and if you didn't get your desired scores don't be depressed. Dust yourself and try again.
I already declared that the PPR rain has started falling so I'm expecting more good news grin grin grin grin grin

Good day to every Canadian hopeful. May God answer our prayers. Pls my people I have a dilemma. I was given ITA in February 2018, submitted all documents and got AOR. My issue is that I just realised that I forgot to include the fact that I was denied UK Visa back in 2012 when I tried to renew ( I had previously been given and even traveled). Is there a way that I can let them know this information? Or is it too late seeing as my application is already being processed? I am scared it might be a problem. Please help me with information. Thank you guys.

Raise a CSE immediately and inform them. What you have done is misrepresentation and could get you banned for 5 years. Not trying to scare you but just letting you know why they should be informed immediately.

Hi. Can a photocopied document (deed of gift) be notarized or must it be the original only?

cc copying lawyers, barristers

In my own practice ooooo, we only notarize originals or certified true copies (not just ordinary photocopies)

It is always possible to add a spouse in this case, if and only if the applicant hasn't landed. The processing would only be prolonged but yes, it is still possible.

Na the koko be that. It won't be seamless

Yeah. But don't forget to allow 'small breeze to blow on it'

This is where the risk lies. Add her too soon and it will drop the scores, wait too long and they will say your application has already been concluded.

Please lawyers in the house who have gone through this process , please help me quote this post so I can read up through your profile on how you did it step by step. Thank you

We are plenty. Check my profile for some info on IQAS and check page zero as well. The only thing different for us is our specific use of IQAS for professional Canadian equivalence of our LLB

Hello everyone. I finally got around to paying for my ECA and sending my documents to WES. I asked for my HND,BSC,ICAN and CIMA Adv Dip in MA certificates to be assessed. But after reading some comments here, I'm thinking I should have had my OND assessed too. Is it really necessary?

Also, I'm single but planning to get married in July. Is it better for me to wait till I'm married before getting in the pool or I can change my status to married later without any significant impact on my CRS score? Please advise a brother.

Lol, why didn't you include your WAEC result too? cheesy cheesy Abeg I'm just joking o!

But really, why all those certificate? You would have been fine with just BSC / HND or HND / OND

Please try and help yourself first. At least give her 2 or 3 NOC which you think you may fall in and also post your job description. As for th PM Assistant I doubt you can use it at all as its less than 1 year

I'm going to pick up my new passport tomorrow and then register for IELTS with MOD.
They still have slots open for April 21 and the daredevil in me is considering it but I'll probably play safe and choose May 12.

I wish you the best! If only everyone was or could be as dedicated as you in reading through the pages.......

I think you meant someone with OND and HND compared with BSC cos there is first class in the polytechnic too.

Yea, typically OND and HND holders are looked upon as being 'less' than almighty BSC in Nigeria, to now add that the BSC is First class, lol

Isn't it funny how life is? Someone with HND and OND has more value (more points) than someone with a 1st class. In this journey, no difference between 1st class and 3rd class. Lol

I have previously used that site and prices are relatively the same in most provinces,I have checked tax rates, checked housing rentals fee for Ontario(so expensive) against Manitoba(quite cheap but tax rate nah die and household cost get yearly increase like Lagos landlords),I need the experiences of people who are there to make a better informed decision.is it like Nigeria where all the jobs are in Lagos...what's the chances of getting a wonderful job if I don't wanna go to Ontario(population of 12 million when the whole canny population is 36 million)

Maybe you should ask this question in the 'living in Canada thread'. You are likely to get more information from people actually in Canada

Pls I need your help e-house, I want to request for ref letter from work but they are asking for the address is the immigration address so they can properly address it..

That address is fine. It's what I used too. I don't think the address itself is a big deal, focus more on ensuring the contents meet the requirements.
