Use buypower, download the app, enter your meter number, choose your location and then choose means of payment. You get units in less than 1 minute.
The meter in my house has a card, that's what we use to recharge. When I check online, it said the type of meter we use cannot be paid online and I would really like to pay online henceforth. Can you help me out on how to pay online. That's the picture of the card. And how to know meter number

1.I doubt you would say this if you were the one financing and constructing the project.

2.No businessman goes into business with the aim of benefitting the masses financially...they go into the business with the aim of benefitting themselves, their shareholders, their families and themselves, and themselves. (Yes, I said it three times). Even their workers...they are paid to bring in more profit for themselves.

3.What you are asking for has been tried before...in most Communist countries...and at the end, the projects failed. There is no such thing as masses taking part in building a project that can benefit them. At the end of the day, the masses would want to buy stuff from the same industries fior cheap...and this leads to crap products which lead to more mess...because the masses won't pay the prices needed for any'people's company' to function profitably....and this leads to point no 4...

4.Capitaliism works because it guarantees a profit....which is used to pay for new improvements and new investments. Most of the consumer stuff we use...computers, phones, etc....were made possible by capitalist profits. Yes, we use computers that work better than the ones we had five years ago because greedy capitalists paid for more improvements to improve their profits.

That's why by the 1970's capitalist countries were far ahead of the communist countries...to a point where many communist countries could not catch up.

5.But you can still benefit from capitalsim...when the company starts sellingshares....BUY THEM.

At the end of the day, your ideas can never work because, unfortunately....people are greedy, and people love to be paid. If we built a masses company to build cars....you think the masses would be willing to pay N10 million for a car like the RAV 4 from that factory...no they will insist on paying N100000, for a people's car, and the company would end up making crap cars, for the masses, or lose so much money that it would close down, then we can blame the 'imperialists'.
You're right but capitalism and communism are not the only alternatives.

You obviously do not know Nigeria well..................have you been to Aba,Nnewi or even kano....let us not talk of Lagos, Nigerians can build, assemble or fabricate stuff...........problem has always been Capital formation and financing, that is even on the production side of things............how about effective demand and consumption.........have we bothered to develop a truly robust National Identification system or a credit history system? This is the under development we talk about...not just the lack of infrastructure!
Spot on brother.

You have a serious point, a critical one that most Nigerians have never heard of and our leaders know next to zero about.
A nation does not become wealthy by contracting big budget 'infrastructure'.
All the roads, bridges and rail lines by themselves create nothing, but are mere tools to enhance an already productive people.

Even the so called mythical saying in these parts that 'providing 24 hours electricity will guarantee development' is just that because power in development is a factor of production. Power on its own does not produce anything and to an unproductive nation it then becomes an expensive burden.
You're now quite right, infrastructure is a good sign of an emerging economy as it also breeds investment. If someone in Lafia can get to Abuja by train every morning without been afraid of kidnappers, why would he spent huge amount to rent a house in Abuja. Constant power also relieves companies of stress of getting fuel everytime, schools won't have to worry about light, students don't have to be crowded in campus at night just to charge and see light to study. Alot sef is involved, I'm tired of typing. Good roads etal are the basis of development.

Typical Nigerian masses.

Go and use your brain.

This is brain washed capitalism..

Na one person go make all the billions while others slave for him .

Why can't oil producing communities have refineries like this? It will distribute the wealth properly.

Life is very hard for human beings, cos only one percent of humans control all the wealth.

Wise up.

The rich are getting richer, while the poor are getting poorer.

Can't blame them though, the west(US in particular) has made us see capitalism as the best form of economic development, and it's actually working well for them. So if capitalism will help us and bring more people out of poverty, maybe not make them rich, then let's have it. South Koreans are not that rich but they are not in poverty index like Nigeria, and they have massive infrastructure. You can also provide alternatives while you're at it, we can all learn a thing or two.

The reality is currently, and by our own behaviors, we have made ourselves inferior.

This will be the case until we CHOOSE to think and act better.
This is not about word play and sentiments, it is the cold hard facts. One that must be addressed clearly and owned up to without BS.
If you want to "blame the white man", you will only further prove my point. The inferior blames those they think are higher than them. Otherwise they would simply get up, clean themselves up, and walk with wisdom to a better future.

I don't know where you are (you sound like a woke black american), but there is a special frustration that comes upon you when you look at the MAJORITY of your people and feel disgust at the way they reason and think. There are idiots in every race, but unfortunately, ours are the majority.
Nigeria has no excuse to be the way it is right now....and foolish decisions are still being majorically made given the crap I hear these fools talk about in terms of who they are even still thinking about voting in.

No one is born inferior, but you collectively make yourself so through your own bloody choices.
I'm not blaming the whites, we are above that level this is not the 70's. I wish I can type long, but that won't change my stance about us not being inferior and I'm glad you said it in your last sentence. Way forward is all I'm thinking everyday for the black man and not follow the crowd. Action is what's next for us as a country and not pen pushing.

Family / Re: My Cousin "Disowned" Her Son. by Ex0rrcist: 12:32pm On Feb 11, 2023
Zupay:
My cousin's son has been a source of disturbance to me for the past 2 weeks.

The background story.

My cousin got pregnant with him when she was 19 but the father who then in his mid 20s denied the pregnancy in the presence of both families and went on to claim the reason he gave her money to procure an abortion was because he was only one of the guys sleeping with my cousin at the time (which was a blatant lie) and it was his own contribution.

My Uncle and Aunt (my cousin's parents) had to accept the guy's denial and solely took care of my cousin's pregnancy. Her son was born in 2007 and bears my Uncle's name, he was taken care of by his grandparents, uncles and aunts as his mother went back to school and graduated. My cousin got a better paying job in 2015 and moved out of their family house with her son, who is presently in S.S.2.

The biological father resurfaced sometime last year in May, starting to make claims and all. He went directly to the boy's school to introduce himself and starting meeting the boy, buying him things without my cousin's knowledge until the man showed up at my uncle's house with some of his relatives but my uncle didn't receive them.

The boy was becoming rude to his mother, talking back at her, telling her he would push for a change in his surname to that of his biological father, became cold to his grandparents etc To cut long story, he moved to his father's house in August of last year and resumed school from there. My cousin (his mother) was seriously sick in October of last year, this boy never bothered to call on his mother despite knowing of her illness and he has a phone he uses freely.

My cousin (his mother) relocated to the UK early this January, on a skilled worker visa as she works in a children' home and have made up her mind to refocus on getting married and having other kids. Her son has been calling her, which she has never picked also sending her long stories of how his father's wife have been maltreating him even in the presence of his father and the father would say nothing. Pleading with the mother to bring him over to the UK to live with her (her visa allows her to bring her son to the UK easily since he is under 18) but my cousin have not been replying him and this boy has been disturbing me to talk his mother on his behalf as I am very close to my cousin.

I have spoken to my cousin severally and she insisted she has washed off her hands where her son is concerned, that she doesn't want him around her as she needs to live singly and have a relationship that would lead to marriage, that she really wants to settle down.

I have told the boy to concentrate on finishing secondary school but he seems obsessed with wanting to relocate to the UK though my other cousin (his mother's younger brother) has confirmed that the boy is having it rough living with the father, his wife and other children.

I believe his mother has a right to have a new lease of life.

This boy is always messaging me asking for updates, I don't know what else to tell him!

A child will not be so bad we'll feed him to the lion. The mother should take the child back, he's just a child and we all make mistakes during our teenage years, it's not something abnormal or unheard of. So the mum shouldn't take a permanent solution to a temporary problem, the boy will always be hers. The boy has probably learnt his lessons too sha.

Before you throw labels, think about what he has said and try to logically dispute it first.
Labels can't think for you.
The basis of his statement doesn't have any proof whatsoever, its even devoid of logic. There's something they call process in life, stages, and there are rules to this things. China in the 50s will probably see themselves as inferior to the white man despite their rich history says otherwise. Read brother, research so you don't have to see a black man as inferior anymore, not sentiments.

There are poor people everywhere in the world, why don't other countries burn thieves or give them inhumane treatment in this 21st century? It's a peculiar thing to Nigeria, and these thinking needs to be changed, you see educated people supporting such on nairaland, one begin to wonder if they are also poor like you said. A system that wouldn't punish people for doing evil and allows it to flourish, the consequences is what we're seeing in our everyday lives. Nigerians need to be held accountable for their crimes, a lawless society breeds people with no empathy that sees murder as a normal thing.

After months without posting on Tiktok, he finally released a video of him saying something else debunking whatever truth he has told his followers and from that particular video, you'll notice he was threatened while he was doing the video to say something the people threatening him wanted him to say.

Things are really happening.

Cos lately, I've been watching all these conspiracy theories/facts on Tiktok and I've been seeing a lot of revelations and truth in plain sight.
You are going down a rabbit hole that'll make you question things you don't need to. Conspiracy theories are nothing but that, that's why they are called that. Ungrateful lots
Unpatriotic folks
They just game the Nigerian government.
They got cheap medical education and will rather use it for another country.....why didnt they go to study the medidcine in europe or america....they wont because they cant afford it.
The didnt complain about ill equiped medical schools and teaching hospitals while training only to jump on the next plane to countries where they couldnt afford to study Medicine.....
Before anyone says rubbish....... doctors that want to practice in USA should go there for their studies if they can afford it not take advantage of the subsidized medical education in Nigeria and thereafter run away......Government subsidized it so many people can be trained to be useful to the country.
That line of reasoning is somehow to me, because there are some European countries that have subsidized school fee too for their medicine students. These students don't finish school then travel abroad to go and practice, because whenever they are done there is a likelihood of them getting a proper job in that same country. If you can check some countries in Europe that have subsidized education, you will understand what I'm talking about. So that line of reasoning honestly doesn't work, the fault still lies with the government there's nothing bad in having a subsidized school fee.

Family / Re: My Pregnant Neighbour Has Been Restless Because She's Carrying Twin by Ex0rrcist: 1:14am On Jan 22, 2023
UnfairLife7:
My pregnant neighbour has been so restless and sick having discovered she's carry twin

This neighbour of mine is pregnant with 6 other kids. She has been finding it difficult to feed her family including her 6 children. Her husband is an electrician and plumber but he hasn't been getting job inorder to take care of his family. The children had been out of school for several years

I live with my aunt who's a widow. I saw my aunt stressed out yesterday and worried and i was wondering what could be the problem. She was the one who told me about the woman predicament. My aunt has emptied her little foodstuffs because of this woman and her children. My aunt is just a poor widow who's managing herself and kids but she can't stand the sight of this woman and her children hungry.

My aunt told me the woman's friend advice her to inject the pregnancy through abortion. She's six months gone and according to those her friends even nine months pregnancy can be aborted provided she has the money and her state of mind is willing to not forceful

According to her friends, they felt that's the best decision she could consider due to her condition. She cannot even feed the ones on ground, they are not going to school and she's still carry twin right in her womb. She hasn't gotten any baby things. It was my aunt that took her for antenatal when the pregnancy was in 4 months stage. She has been so confused on what to do. My aunt wasn't in support of it though, same time she doesn't have money to support her and her children.

Nigeria isn't saner climes where government support the less privileges. She will be having 8 children in total if she chose not to abort it. What will become the fate of these innocent children? How will she survive with these children in Nigeria? She fainted yesterday and was rushed to the hospital. It was confirmed that she has been thinking so much and she doesn't eat well. This has affected her health conditions.

Her family and that of the husband had been so helpful according to her and it has really taken a toll on them. She even lost one of her uncle who has been supportive. This woman is sad, she's broken and shattered into pieces. I'm even scared of her life because she's not getting good medical attention for her condition. She doesn't eat well for herself and the foetus. I'm even bothered about her life, I sincerely hope all what she's going through wouldn't tell on her on the day of delivery.

Please what's your advice for this woman and her family
I only pity the kids and not the two fools who chose to be bringing kids into their impoverished life. Illiteracy is not an excuse anymore for all these sort of things, it's about using one's brain. They shouldn't bother to abort since it's over six months, it's too risky considering the kind of health care she will have access to sef. They can donate the twins out to parents that don't have kids, an adoption home might also be willing to take the newborns. This kind thing no dey pain me again, from number one to number four. My parent no go school, dem still no do pass the three wey dem fit take care of.
