GhostProtocol: There are issues about political alignments and strategizing that you seem to have deliberately chosen to ignore. APC is the coming together of 2 parties. There was a very transparent primaries involving candidates who will be widely acceptable for now, this present moment in order to capture power. Once that is done then they will work on the next phase which is consolidation. We will all know if the strategy is working or not in a couple of hours. But then we are Africans and especially the Yoruba and Houses, we respect our elders and we allow them to lead the way and show us how to navigate the terrain. We watch and learn so that when we take over from them, we are prepared and confident. To us age is not a crime. Instead it come with wisdom which can be tapped into by all. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Jarus: Easterners? Those guys are digging their political grave in Nigeria without knowing it. If GMB wins this election they can kiss presidential ambition goodbye as their votes will not be needed for a SW or a middle belt candidate to win after GMB. I guess none of them is thinking about that the fact that they may be in a politically sunk ship if GEJ should loss this. I think they took a wrong gambit. More analysis sill follow official results. |

[quote]For instance out of the 133,442 registered voters in Yenagoa Local Government Area, only 51,577 showed up for accreditation. The situations were the same in Kolokuma-Opokuma, Nembe, Ekeremor and Ogbia where 13,785, 29,238, 14,451 and 13,389 persons respectively refused to participate in the exercise.[quote] There seem to have been a high rate of abstention here. Is it that his people don't completely believe in him and will rather abstain than vote for the opposition? Hmmm curious. Just my observation and thought o. |

Now that we have result from Katsina, can we also have result from Bayelsa please? |

yorke1: At least we are all seeing results that is influencing the hope in APC people. Where are the results that give hope to PDP people? Are they still being recalculated and readjusted? Please we need some openness here. This total silence is beginning to smell fishy and heightening tension. And don't go on saying things like waiting for official INEC result cos I have beard some result from other states even on AIT today. Nigeria is bigger than the ambition of any of the candidates. 1 Like 1 Share |

By now both parties will have copies of election results from all over the country. For Abati to come across as though he is unaware of the trend of things result wise Except for Ekiti State does not sound reassuring. They don't have to put voters through this suspense. By now they know the result and the loser should congratulate the winner as they do in the US whose system we are copying, and let Nigerians get on with their lives. |

ManUtdholic: Comments on this issue have been rather bias and sentimental. We should not forget that Amaechi was once in the fold and so he knows the game plan. He knew the result sheet will never be there and so that was the first thing he went for. He was not prepared to vote cos he knew it will never count. He probably has done that before too. But what happens to all the people who stood in the sun and rain for so many hours for accreditation and voting? If their votes didn't count then a crime has been committed. It doesn't matter of their party won, their votes still didn't count and by extrapolation they really won't have a say in the gov't. If that is how the people want it, too bad. Then our democracy still has a long way to go. But I would think that reasonable people in all eras where such happens will really want to follow this up and get to the bottom of it to prevent it from happening again. |

SmartAlex: Mind your language. These are not thugs please. They are voters who have legitimate right to protect their votes. And they should be commended for that. How many of us in SW, SE, SS etc can stand so firm on what or who we believe in? 4 Likes |

fearless2014: What is it about TANoids that get them to be abusive or edgy anytime someone expresses an opinion different from theirs. Seems like they were all trained by FFK and Fayose lolz. Seriously that is a sign of weakness indicating lack of self confidence and the ability to carry people along with your ideas. That is not a good virtue in democracy. That is because in a democracy, the minority must have their say without being shouted down, while the majority have their way. So even if GEJ will win, people must be allowed to have their say. |

kendrick9: That means all the lives that were lost over the years due the ir.responsibility of somebody does not matter. How do you think the family and friends of those people will feel with that very insensitive statement? Na wa o. |

[quote author=Eluwilussit post=31837557] I agree with your summation totally. Sanusi was not good enough nor experienced enough to be our CBN gov. We all know that, but he's a fulani as you rightly said. I am aware of Akaluka's case. We all know the role he played, yet such a vagabond was made the CBN gov and now emir. I beg your pardon sir, speak for yourself only. But for Sansui the rot that went on in the banks would have led to catastrophic consequences for everybody. Now we have banks that are strong players in global financial market. You can sleep soundly because you know your deposit is safe in the bank. But Sanusi is not the type of lame duck CBN governor that the politicians want. He will not look the other way when he smells corruption. But then in the present dispensation anyone who dares to differ from the FG is working for the opposition. So how do we attain greatness if all of us must see issues the same way? What happens to intellectualism that Nigerians are known for? What a people, what a waste! |

"But it is on record that he (as CBN Governor) attended the hearings of the Senate Committee on Finance where the issue of kerosene subsidy was exhaustively looked at vis-à-vis the Presidential Memo directing the removal of kerosene subsidy. The explanation was that the process of implementing the Presidential directive was not followed through by the Minister of Petroleum Resources at that time as required by law which technically meant that kerosene subsidy was not removed. Pray, do we even read, internalize and analyze issues before commenting or do we give stereotype robotic comment to all issues? From the quote above petroleum minister spent about =N= 685 billion without appropriation. Is it just me or is this the height of unseriousness as a nation. Yet nairalanders have nothing to say about this. Instead they curse the person who brought this to light. And we all know that it is a crime to spend even =N= 1 without appropriation. Common guys we can do better than this. And talking about the subsidy, how many of us buy kerosene at subsidized rate? So where did all that money go? Your guess is as good as mine. And talking about the audit report, if it was in favor of the gov't it would have been released long ago but the president is sitting on it because, according to the minister, so that the opposition party will not use it to campaign against them. Meaning report may not be very good. 1 Like |

Sacramento4real: What a waste, what a shame. After so many years of failed leadership we Nigerians have come to regard aberrations as the norm. We have to stratify the society on the type and size of generating set, have to justify and defend the indefensible while the sellers of inverters are strategizing. They have been so oppressed by their leaders that they have even forgotten that power, water, good roads, education, security and accommodation is their right and not a privilege. Ironically, the people who should ensure those right (president, governors, MPs) were employed by them through their votes. So what do you do if you employ someone that is not doing what is in your interest? Maybe Nigerians are really weak minded because as the saying goes people get the kind of leaders they deserve. But just in case you don't know the power to EMPLOY your next president, next state governor, senator, member of houses mot rep and so on is your PVC. Use it wisely. Decisions you take today will decide what you get for another four(4) years. Just my 2 cents. |

ireneugbomah87: I seriously hope you are joking because this is a seriously flawed way of reasoning that should be condemned totally in a democratic setting. It is really disappointing that a leader of tomorrow that you are, can so justify ineptitude. Just in case you have forgotten please be reminded you that GEJ begged for our votes then knowing fully well what the situation on ground was with a promise to rectify it. The position was not forced on him. Well it clear he has not delivered as the responsibility may have been beyond his ability . The consequences of that failure should be left to Nigerians to decide. But please don't ridicule yourself by trying to defend the indefensible. 1 Like |
