Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, announced that the ministry will launch the Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) in October. Speaking at a ministry event on Thursday, Onyejeocha explained that LEEP is part of ongoing efforts to revitalize the economy and create jobs to reduce unemployment. According to her, LEEP is a comprehensive initiative by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment aimed at generating employment. The program's objective is to create 2.5 million jobs annually, both directly and indirectly, while ensuring the welfare and safety of workers nationwide. "Through the LEEP Digital Nomads pillar, we will develop the skills of our significant youth population, enabling them to access higher-income opportunities in the global job market. This will be achieved by enhancing their digital literacy and promoting remote work skills," she said. Onyejeocha also mentioned that the LEEP Vocational and Entrepreneurship Programme (VEP) will focus on providing relevant skills training for employment and entrepreneurship in various industries. "We will upgrade and expand the National Electronic Labour Exchange (NELEX) platform to streamline employment recruitment processes across all job types in the country. "Under the LEEP Job Fairs, the federal government, in partnership with private sector employers, will organize annual job fairs to connect job seekers with employers and partners across Nigeria. "The LEEP Center for Learning Spaces initiative will upgrade and modernize existing physical assets of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, as well as the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), to meet the increasing demand for training spaces suitable for apprenticeships, production hubs, and business incubators," she added. |

Jobs/Vacancies / CCT Disbursed, Npower Payments Set To Begin Next – Adeshina A. Adex by ezenwaez(m): 6:10pm On Sep 26 |
CCT Disbursed, Npower Payments Set to Begin Next – Adeshina A. Adex According to recent reports from Npower News, the National Publicity Secretary of Npower, Adeshina A. Adex, stated in a brief video message (lasting 1 minute 30 seconds) that the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer will begin the screening process soon, likely by next week. Adex mentioned that with the ongoing disbursement of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) – which is part of the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) – Npower payments should follow next. Npower Batch C Stream 2 beneficiaries, who have been awaiting their stipends for 9 to 12 months, have faced difficulties since the indefinite suspension of the Npower program by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Despite completing their assignments at their respective deployment locations, these beneficiaries remain without payment. The National Association of Npower Beneficiaries, representing millions of Batch C participants, is appealing to the President to lift the suspension on Npower, allowing them to receive their overdue stipends, especially amid the rising cost of living. |

N-Power Beneficiaries Criticize Alleged Plan to Abolish Humanitarian Ministry The N-Power beneficiaries have criticized the federal government’s reported plan to dissolve the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. In a statement signed by Nazifi Mohammed Abubakar, President of the Kano State Chapter of N-Power Beneficiaries, the group expressed serious concerns over the rumored decision, highlighting the ministry’s crucial role in addressing humanitarian crises, alleviating poverty, and promoting social welfare. Abubakar noted that the creation of the ministry was a strategic move aimed at streamlining and coordinating humanitarian interventions, disaster management, and social welfare programs across the nation. He warned that dissolving the ministry would hinder the government’s ability to tackle Nigeria’s socio-economic issues effectively. He also emphasized that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation is one of the few agencies closely connected to ordinary Nigerians and plays a key role in projecting the positive image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The group further pointed out that the ministry oversees vital social investment initiatives such as the N-Power program, Conditional Cash Transfers, and the Homegrown School Feeding Programme. Abubakar cautioned that dissolving the ministry would result in poor coordination of these programs, potentially leading to increased corruption and mismanagement within the agencies. “Nigeria faces numerous challenges, including internal conflicts, natural disasters, and a growing number of internally displaced persons. The ministry is critical in managing these issues, and scrapping it would create a gap that could worsen the situation,” Abubakar explained. He also stressed that without the ministry as a central coordinating body, corruption and inefficiencies could flourish, further undermining the effectiveness of these vital programs. “We call on the federal government to rethink this alleged plan and focus on strengthening the ministry’s role in addressing the country’s socio-economic challenges.” The N-Power beneficiaries also expressed their solidarity with other concerned groups, including civil society organizations and humanitarian experts, who have urged President Tinubu to reconsider any plans to scrap the Ministry. |

Npower Update: Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs Urges Comrade Kehinde James to Follow Up on Submitted Letter Tomorrow During a 50-minute interactive session between Npower Publicity Secretary, Adeshina A. Adex, and Eze Ezenwa, owner of the Npower Facebook page, Ezenwa was invited by Adeshina to share his experience as a former Npower Batch A beneficiary. He recounted how Batch A members effectively communicated their concerns about Npower payments. Though Ezenwa noted that Batch C beneficiaries face more severe challenges now, he acknowledged that Batch A also dealt with delays, particularly due to incorrect account details during registration. Ezenwa mentioned that when Sadiya Umar Farouq took over, Batch A beneficiaries experienced further delays in receiving their stipends. Ezenwa also spoke about Batch A's completion of the one-week NEXIT training and the continued delay in the disbursement of the promised soft loans from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. When Adeshina asked what Batch C representatives should focus on regarding payments, Ezenwa suggested pushing for the settlement of 9-12 months of outstanding payments and advocating for Batch C members to be absorbed into government ministries, departments, and agencies. Additionally, they should discuss securing soft loans and grants for exiting Batch C beneficiaries. On the topic of Npower’s current status, Ezenwa was optimistic, stating that the program is still active, though temporarily suspended, not scrapped. He emphasized that Batch C members will still receive their payments. Adeshina supported this, explaining that the program’s manager, Mr. Akindele, had stepped aside after the appointment of Dr. Badamasi Lawal as the new CEO of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency. Dr. Lawal will assume full duties after his Senate screening on the 24th. Ezenwa concluded by encouraging Batch C beneficiaries to support officials like Adeshina A. Adex, Comrade Kehinde James, and others, who continue to fight for the release of their stipends. He expressed optimism that Batch C members would receive their payments soon and urged them not to lose hope, as brighter days are ahead.
