You got in, great! Be thankful. End of story.

Who worked hard and put so much effort but looked up to God for help only.

I am yet to come to terms why people can't checkmate their emotions at this trying times. Information is forever welcomed, whether it is speculated or not. That is what makes the globe a progressive one.

Folks have said it times with no numbering in this platform that if you are not comfortable with happenings here, you deactivate and do not visit here again. For God's sake this is public and faceless platform and not someone's parlour where he/she gets to dictate.

As long as such speculations are linked to the subject, it is left for you to do the filtering rather than plug it. A river "sitting" on an acidic rock will forever remain acidic except you decide to unearth the acidic bedrock which is impossible except you want to take the river out entirely. All you can do at that instance is to fetch and treat.

UPDATES ARE WELCOME!!! That's what this platform was CREATED FOR!!!!!!!!!!

Been trying hard to refrain from ranting here. Funny enough, they see the tension they've caused and it's even worse than they think because we all are trying to be civil.
What a way to welcome us. And all they do is keep silent and let us figure stuff out for ourselves. Long road trips from all corners to Lagos for those who won't fly, traffic issues which will be new to many, feeding issues, early hours, late sleep and expectations of high performance in examinations, all at once.
Wednesday is gone and many have still not found a place to stay yet. Agents are calling outrageous prices for short let apartments and I hope trainees won't do transactions with the wrong people.
God punish unemployment.

nlanded:
I think the issue which is causing all this tension is because First bank stopped offering accommodation as earlier done without prior warning, and I feel that is not fair.

Just a week notice and you expect people to come from thousands of miles from all over Nigeria into a strange land without prior plans about catering for their accommodation, and we have to start an extensive training program in the midst of all this stress and uncertainties. What if most candidates don't even have money for these expenses? We know accommodation is not a right but privilege but the issue is that candidates had earlier not prepared for this.

Now its even rumoured lectures might be also held at Ikoyi and not only Iganmu, all these is too much for people coming to Lagos newly and especially people who had prepared their minds that the bank would accommodate them.

I believe First bank has its staff welfare at heart and should please look into this. After all we are also part of the future of this bank.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: 2016 Firstbank Graduate Trainee Programme by fayte: 7:38pm On May 08, 2018
You are a suspect. Well, it's not really an entitlement mentality. If this has been a trend, many people will be prepared to attend ts from various locations. It's 1 week notice and while it looks like 7 days, it isn't really up to that. Some have to be in Lagos earlier than that to actually find accommodation before 14th or 16th as the case may be. Before you travel, you have to put your stuff in place because prepping for three months stay outside home, isn't beans. You need to source for cash for accommodation, feeding, transport and basic running around as not everyone has more than enough Now. All these, in how many days? Then resumption stress too. Even if this is to build us for the stress coming, it's a whole lot. The mail alone is giving headache.
Meanwhile, nothing is impossible. It can still be changed if they want reconsider, which I still pray they will. I don't even know if your congratulations are in order, so no thanks. undecided

Roy11:
Congratulations guys....

It feels good to know you have crossed one of the hurdles of life. To be honest, this is what you have been praying for. The issue of no accommodation is an unfortunate event that is almost impossible to change, but guess what.... You have always prevailed. See it as a challenge and also an opportunity. Most banks conduct training without accommodation, yet the participants survive. I feel at this point we should not have this 'entitlement mentality ' ..start preparing for TS. Wish you all the best guys.
