Mele kyari said that. Bros, try and read more before you argue.

https://m.guardian.ng/business-services/nnpc-to-reduce-cost-of-crude-oil-production-from-17/amp/

What Mele Kyari said is untrue. He is just saving face. Nigeria produces at much higher prices. You need to add security cost and multiple taxation from different government agencies.

Even Russia which produces at a lower cost averages $20 per barrel. Even Saudi produces at a higher cost than the $4 or $5 Kyari reported.

Guys, abeg I am sorry. The lashing is too much and unexpected.

I wish everyone the very best. Wish GTs and EHs success.

I digress: Just to contribute on the ongoing debate

The oil price drop is caused by two factors - oversupply by Saudi is the highest driver (like 70% of the cause) followed by low demand due to the pandemic. Saudi has promised to push in more barrels in April so expect even lower prices in April. The next OPEC+ meeting is not likely to hold anytime soon at least until June. So expect sustained low prices till at least June. CNN has also reported the pandemic may last for up to a year. Hopefully mankind will discover a vaccine before then. So oil prices is not gonna rise in weeks.

Even without oversupply, oil prices wouldn't have gone above the 40s due to the pandemic.

Also, the cost of producing oil in Nigeria is one of the very highest in the world, between $25 and $35 depending on the area. Whoever said $15 is not familiar with the Nigerian oil industry. Nigeria is currently producing literally at a loss. Also remember that we are not able to sell our crude as we are outpriced in the international market by lower cost producers like Saudi and Russia. So Nigeria isn't making any money right now. Worse still, the ECA is almost empty. Hard times ahead.

wow this is unfair for you to come here and pour such negativity saying it could take years, especially as it is all your personal speculation. It may be easy for you to say all this because you may not be one of the 1,050 hopefuls who have begun documentation online with a start date of May 1st.

I pray that at worst the start date for GT's is pushed to when it is healthy and safe to gather in numbers.

Congrats to all new GTs.

Prepare your mind for the following:

(1)The coronavirus will most likely affect resumption date. State govts across the nation are banning large gatherings and minimising physical contacts as much as possible. It is clear your orientation will be postponed.

(2) The problem is further compounded by the extremely low oil prices which have not even bottomed out yet. Nigeria is currently producing at a loss with the current prices, and we are not even able to sell our crude. No oil firm recruits during periods of low oil prices. NNPC boss has emphasized the need to cost cuts to.produce at current prices. Most companies fire or place employees on furlough. So the orientation will be moved to much later date when or if things stabilise.

(3) You are yet to receive official appointment letter. You have only received a notification of success. By law, no company is not legally bound to recruit any candidate that has not yet received an offer letter. Even with official letters, there has been several cases where govts or insitiutions withdraw offer letters even after resumption with no consequences. So the current case is even more precarious.

I therefore foresee a situation where the new GTs are put on reservation list for several months or years. A worse case scenario is that the recruitment eventually be cancelled or extremely streamlined. Forget sentiments, this is a real scenario right here.

I therefore ask all new GTs to hope and pray this crisis pass as soon as possible. The longer it stays, the less chances you will be recruited.

Hi eminemkayc, was this still a normal interview session or just a chat with the manager of that department? A friend mentioned that last stages usually involve a casual chat with the dept manager or so. Also, any idea how many people are going to be taken out of the 4 u just mentioned? I wonder why they still want to screen from 4 people. I have not been buzzed after my last interview, so still praying hard. Maybe calling at this stage varies by department. I just wanted to know if I should still prepare for a fresh normal interview as opposed to my friends advise that it will merely be a casual chat.

Thanks a lot for your volunteered info here so far. We appreciate.

it is an interview with the dept head, usually one person but on rare occasions, he may decide to invite additional managers for the interview. it however goes beyond a casual chat. they may choose to ask HR and technical questions.

35 graduates and 15 experience hires to be taken. Take it to the bank

I believe this information is very correct.

From very reliable company sources, about 50 engineers are to be hired in total.

And I know from past trends, the graduate hires make up more than 30.

The white guys you saw for the experienced hire are contract staffs of the Mobil training school (TTC).

I don't believe there will be another interview.

there is definitely going to be a 2nd stage interview. Take that to the bank. But this 1st stage interview is the most important.

You are probably right about the white folks. I didn't write the test. I know they aren't senior managers though.

info info but yet ignorance obviously. A security man cannot give out that info. It will be very unprofessional of him. Google expatriates. White men don’t come as security personnel because they do not have enough intelligence on the security of the nation. Except you are talking CIA or FBI. Did you write the experienced hire. The white men are part of the recruitment team and whatever info they give is true. 2 to 4 weeks may be the time for completion of the recruitment. It is obvious Mobil don’t want to waste time. Don’t Honk you have any concrete info. This is a recruitment handled by top level staff and privacy and confidentiality is key. Do you think the white nan didn’t know they will be contacted before 2 weeks. Make una chill small make over Sani no kill una.

I'm not asking you not to keep hope alive. Don't give yourself hypertension over this, ehn. Usually the interviews are in phases and could span for up to 3 weeks. So chill.

And no, I didn't write the test.

You people should stop this mediocrity. That you wrote this test shows you are not kids.

What do you gain coming here to make these kind of posts? When there's nothing, you just put some people in panic mode for nothing.

This is not university exam or test, and moving forward you need maturity in the place of work.

Cc nana06

Exactly! Getting an ExxonMobil job can be life changing so no need to provide false information here.

A few info:

*The 2 white guys you saw during the test are most likely security personnel (expatriates). So you dont necessarily rely on the 2 or 4 weeks they mention. Management decide that.

* The most important stage is the first interview currently ongoing. Once you pass that, there is 90% chance you eventually get the job. There is one more interview though.

* information reaching me is that more than .0 engineers in total will be hired

* mails for Graduate position interview has not yet started rolling in. Most likely next week.

So have been observing when I post a comment I do get pms but I discover 90% of them are lagos based and mostly yoruba, does it mean my brothers from Akwa ibom are not on this forum?

Before y'all get me twisted I'm not tribalistic just that it will really hurt if one begin to nurse feelings for another and distance happen to be the only barrier.

I'm based in my state of origin and will like to get to meet reasonable matured guys(preferable in their early 30's) from my state on here.

RedBenson happen to be the only Akwa Ibom or na Cross River he's from sef but I don't like his online personality, he seems to be a flirt tongue

So feel free to say hi if you're my bro! wink
I will be relocating to Akwa ibom very soon. Getting transferred. though i am neither from Cross River nor Akwa Ibom, I wish to meet people who are based there and make friends that will help me settle really quickly.
I have got no friends in that state for now except my colleagues undecided
The email which I used to open this account is inaccessible so kindly follow me as I follow you so that i can send you a direct message.
BTW I am 30+ and it would be nice to meet you smiley

Mr. Feex please I need your advice!
I'm a graduate of Mechanical engineering, though I finished with a CGPA of 3.29/5, I have never for once allowed my finishing with a 2.2 detter me from pursuing my dream of becoming a true professional in a not too distant future. The journey hasn't been smooth though as I have had to settle for a maintenance technician job in a rather small FMCG company for the time being. Though I get paid a very small salary, one thing the job has helped me to discover is the line of Mechanical engineering I would really love to pursue a career - Plant Maintenance and asset management with a great desire to get certified as Reliability engineer someday.

My concern right now is my job responsibility as it only
requires me to work as a technician meaning I don't get to
carry out the maintenance functions of a maintenance
engineer viz planning, designing, scheduling and monitoring of preventive and predictive maintenance programs, hence I feel the need for me to pursue professional trainings. But the only trainings available are administered online, so do you think potential employers would fancy such trainings as I would be spending a lot to undertake them, or I should just wait till a job opportunity where I would fully work in the capacity of a maintenance engineer presents itself and then learn through the ropes?

Thanks for your time, your opinions and advice would be
really appreciated.

NB: Apologies for the long write up, just really feel I need to
come out clear enough.
I think a postgraaduate degree will be more useful to you. Since your current job deals with maintenance activity which is your career path of interest, I will advise that you do it for a while to gain some experience, even though you are technician before actually pursuing a masters degree.
A professional course may not be of much help right now. What you need is either experience or a postgraduate degree if no suitable job is forthcoming. A professional certification can only cap it off.
