Does one just go to DHL if 4 days elapses for passport pickup or wait for it to be updated on the website? Its like one week now, still saying your passport is with the US embassy
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Ferdinand234: 4:29pm On Oct 28, 2020
Has your US visa ever been cancelled? Not sure about this answer on the DS-160. I ve had an expired b1 visa stamped cancelled without prejudice when i was reapplying for another one. So should this be a yes or no?confused.

Thank you!
Was this Lagos or Abuja?
What about the emails people are sending to get the dates?Wondering why the emails if it can be done through the portal.

Hollyholy:

Go to your appointment login page, click on emergency request.
You will need to provide evidence of sevis payment.
The earliest date available for emergency as at 2minutes ago when I checked is 4th of January 2021.

My program already started online, actually doing midterm exams already. Appointment date is for Abuja in March 2021 , I was wondering if the emergency appointments are still being given,i dont mind requesting for one in Lagos or Abuja, just so I can meet the January 10 spring semester resumption. Has anyone applied for these appointments in most recent times(I saw someone post that there are no more emergency appointments, dont know how valid that is). If yes kindly share the mail to request this appointments. Thanks

Thanks a lot. Yes that did it!
Stevenssen:

most likely you left it unsubmitted for more than 30 days and the system deleted it automatically.
Create a new ds160 and update your appointment profile with the new number, then print a new appointment confirmation slip.

Remember to fill and submit this one this time.

Yes all the rotations: both cores and electives are fully paid for.
I have decided to head to the caribbean in a couple of weeks and my school is going to work on my permit so i can reapply there. Thank you very much sir and I cant wait to enjoy this great career.

Segun889:

Hello Ferdinand,
I feel your plight. Understand that there would be several opinions on what you did wrong etc.
Personally, I don’t think you violated your visa and you were well within the limits of your visa. I think it’s unfortunate that getting a visa from Nigeria currently is tough.
I’m just wondering whether or not your previous electives were paid electives or unpaid. Going forward, I think you a get paid elective which isn’t hard to get before applying.
I would also suggest applying from Caribbean as your chances might be better there.
Lastly, I wish you success in your future application and completion of your studies. It’s a great career and you’ll enjoy it.
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 11:50am On Nov 27, 2019
Yes sir, you are wrong. Clinical rotations are covered under the B1/B2 visa category ,it is stated in the foreign affairs manual,i posted the clause in a previous post. However, the H and J visas are for residents( already qualified doctors) who are paid for the job. I will be taking an elective at the school as I am still a bona fide student, hence the residency
Bluefin:

Hi,

Correct me if I’m wrong. First I think if you are applying for a visit visa, then this is a wrong visa category. You should consider applying for H3 or J1 since you already have the internship offer from your employer.

Going to the Caribbean will not fix this situation since your residency there is not relevant. You are no longer taking classes in the school so what is the residency for?
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 12:39am On Nov 27, 2019
Dude, I used the visa for what i applied for. I visited the relative I wanted to.You dont seem to understand what I am saying.I visited my relative. My rotations only came up nine months after that, since I already had a valid visa which is required for my rotations, why would I have applied for another one.You are making assumptions now.

UhnNah:
Wow! You seems not to understand the reason why you were denied twice! you applied for your first visa saying you were going to visit an uncle or so (I don't remember the story, but it has to do with family) correct? Then you proceeded and used that issued visa for your clinical rotation! That is an abuse of visa,The lady from your first interview clearly told you this is why she's denying you!

What do you mean by ''abuse'' the terms of the visa.

AfonjaBoston:

To be honest, I actually don't feel sorry for you at all. Oyinbos no dey use sentiments chop burger.

You are reaping the benefits of "abusing" the terms of your first visa.
Unfortunately your denial came when you are almost done but that is life.

I applied 2 weeks after my first denial. 1. How can i proof home ties to that island, wouldnt it make more sense to show home ties to your country of origin
2. The bank statements of my parents would be from Nigeria and europe, isnt it easier for the consul in nigeria to verify nigerian bank statements rather than a third party country.
3.I had a resident permit for the caribbean island from 2015-late 2017 but since i started rotations and never had to return to the island,i didnt bother renewing it.Now I m planning of applying for a fresh resident permit, wouldnt they think its so early applying for a visa after getting a permit
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 3:13pm On Nov 26, 2019
Thanks a lot. Yea the school handles the residence permit, I am only worried cos i dont know if applying for a US visa right after getting the residence permit would count against me.

AngelicBeing:
Very unfortunate situation but if I am in your shoes, I will not apply again from Nigeria, l will find my way back to the Reggae island ( Carribean island were you did your medical school, since you were a former resident of the island, it might be pretty easy for you to qualify for another residence permits.

Once you arrive back to the island, find out more from an attorney to assist you re- apply for a residence permits, once you get the permits, you can give the US embassy another shot from there.

However, I know the VO in the Reggae island will have access to your file and the minutes on them by the VO's in Nigeria, but who knows motherluck might be with you if you are able to re-explain yourself again to another VO not in Nigeria because Nigeria seems to be on the black radar screen of VO's of recent based on several factors in the past and they are using koboko laden with chilly pepper to flog people as they like.

Lastly, your bank statements ( both Nigeria and Europe) will not be a big issue with them, they have ways of knowing / finding out if they suspect dagbo on any bank statement ( highest will be administrative review to enable them conduct further forensic investigations on both bank accounts) Nawao to be called a Nigerian in 2019 seems to be a plague shocked

Is it OK to apply for Canadian visa right after a US denial. some rotations can be done in Canada and I just have 16 weeks to complete this medical degree. However, some school of thought is that its not adviseable since they share the same database and a US recent denial ll pop up on the canadian application.

Yea but I mean,it is totally permitted and legal. i really dont understand why. my studies are on a stand still now and i just have a few more weeks to be done sad

Green paper again today, although I was given a fair chance to speak unlike the last time and I indeed believed it was all going well but at the end, the gentle man said he regrets to inform me that i do not qualify for a visa at this time.

Please is this okay to fill in the reason for denial box as per my situation from last week
REASON:
The purpose of my initial visa application(insert date) was to visit my sister and colleagues which I did and returned to Nigeria(insert date). Ten months after my visa was issued my clinical rotations commenced (inserts date) and since I already had a B1/B2 visa that was required for rotations, I travelled to commence my rotations. The officer on duty on my last application interview which was denied on (inserts date) believed I started my rotations on my first visit, however I have all documentation showing my itinerary and when my clinical rotations commenced.

seyewest:

Same here but wish he will follow due process next time.

Finally been able to get a sooner date for 12 days from now. Anyone has an idea of an articulate wording or explanation for reason being denied when i m filling my DS-160. Only God know what the visa officer has written on her notes now from the last interview.
P.S : My expired visa is on my expired passport(which has been cancelled without prejudice) and V.O stamped the expired visa Cancelled without prejudice, hope i m good?lol
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 11:48pm On Nov 06, 2019
I m still on it. I have not been able to secure an earlier date yet.

Spanishmilf:
Have you gotten a date? ? If yes what d earliest? ? If No give me update about the date thanks
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 8:49am On Nov 06, 2019
Thank you so much. i really appreciate. Right now I am exploring the opportunity of an earlier interview date and hoping my Abuja interview goes well with a fair hearing. In the worst event, I will go apply at the caribbean.
wuki:

Yep, if I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t have come back home to reapply in Nigeria especially if you’re able to secure an earlier interview date in the islands. Back when I was on H1B visa, I flew from the States to the Bahamas for my visa interview. Lasted only 2 minutes and wasn’t as stressful. I’ve had few clients apply in next-door countries like Canada and Mexico with similar experiences. So if going to the islands is an option, I’d encourage that. Otherwise, try emergency appointment in Nigeria — with ample reasoning. Good luck

In the meanwhile i paid another visa fee but closest appointment is January 2, I was thinking of requesting for an expedited appointment with the supporting documents from my school and the US hospital. However, What does anyone think about if i go back to the island where my school is and apply for another b1/b2 at a consulate/ embassy in the region? (
P.S : the expired visa was stamped -cancelled without prejudice- ; i do hope that is not a problem?
Thanks very much to all you guys with your advice.

Thanks very much boss. I really appreciate the advice, Yea I was not given a chance to be heard at all . I am thinking of going to the abuja office now for the next interview, I just want to finish my degree, 4 more months to go and this bottleneck now.
groovychik:
Hello Ferdinand. Just a tip that a friend swears by. As you reapply, take charge of your interview. You are neither a thief nor a flight risk. At the start of your interview forget the good morning, no one cares how anyone's morning is, start by telling the VO that you would really appreciate if he/she gives you the opportunity to be heard. Point out you travelled to see your sister before you passed the exam, thus used for the initial purpose. Then take it from there.

Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 8:47pm On Nov 04, 2019
My first visit on the visa was to see my sister . I did not do any clinical rotations whatsoever on the very first visit. On the application that got refused today, i never got a chance to declare to the VO that my reason was to conclude my clinical clerkships, asides filling it on my DS-160 form, the VO did not ask me this question before dismissing me. I just wanted a fair hearing.
OmoBendel24:

Sorry, what was your first visit on that visa about majorly? And the application that got refused now, what was the main reason for wanting it as declared by you to the VO?
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 2:16pm On Nov 04, 2019
What do you think about going back to the island where my school is and applying from a US embassy or Consulate in that region?

wuki:

Make sure to bring all the documentation supporting your argument. Your next interviewer may be more receptive to what you have to say.

P.S: I understand you were likely going back and forth because you didn’t want to run the risk of overstaying. A workaround to this is you could have filed for an extension of status using form I-539, supporting documents and fee payment while still in the States.
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 1:49pm On Nov 04, 2019
And I am NOT receiving and remuneration /compensation. I have documentation that shows when my clinical rotation started (which was on my second visit on my visa to the USA), unfortunately they do not ask to see any documentation. The modus operandi of caribean medical schools is such that clinical rotations are done in the USA after passing an exam. At the time I applied for my visa, I had not passed that exam so rotations were out of the question at that time. V.O just kept saying her assumptions, I had no chance to explain talkless of showing any documented evidence.
wuki:

This only applies if you’re not receiving any form of compensation/remuneration. That said, it will be hard to prove your case to the V.O that your original visa was intended for tourist purposes only. Except if you are implying that you had no interest in medical rotation prior to trip and only after you got to the States did you become interested. No harm in reapplying as long as you can convincingly argue that you did not *intend* to abuse your tourist visa. That’s what your VO was more interested in establishing — and likely your next interviewer too. Good luck.
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 1:33pm On Nov 04, 2019
Yes i am

Spanishmilf:
just googled it now it legal.... I don't know why d VO denied u
Are u planning to reapply
Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Ferdinand234: 1:33pm On Nov 04, 2019
Shouldnt J-1 visas be the visas for residencies. My clinicals are purely observation without any renumeration whatsoever.
wuki:

Sorry to hear. In nutshell, what the V.O is saying is that you abused your tourist visa (whether or not you intended to do so when you applied.) What visa category are you now applying for? Most candidates I’ve worked with in this category usually apply for J-visa unless if the clinical is OBSERVATION ONLY. Make sure to check with your DSO for the correct visa category.
