Politics / Nigeria Election 2019 by FiathAboje: 3:47am On Feb 13, 2019
The Nigeria election 2019 is right at hand and Nigeria’s future will be determined by our wise choice of candidates. https://nigeriathinknow.com/nigeria-election-2019-informed-choice/

In this light, the ball is in our court as Nigerians and we must look and think before leaping out to cast our votes this Saturday, February 16, 2019.

If you know nothing about these candidates, I suggest you do a background check now. So that before the election, you know who the candidates really are, that is, their abilities, character, exposure, track records and so on.

Do Your Bit – Make Your Free Choice.

The Nigeria election 2019 is for every Nigerian to make the right choice. You must understand and consciously have it in mind that; your choice is what determines Nigeria’s future. Which is either progressive growth and development or doom.

I would emphasize that a quality choice is an informed choice.

And as Nigerians, we must stand up for ourselves rather than letting ourselves be manipulated and become blind followers. Shine your eyes and Make your free choice. Enough is enough of stagnancy and retardation!

Do you really desire to see true change? Are you not tired to live in a system that is not working? I am!

Do you want to see Nigeria completely crumbled? You may act like “nothing concerns me o!” but the truth is that it’s affecting you – and hard at that.

So, let us examine the following simple scenarios;

Health Sector

You get to the hospital and you have to wait for over 1 hour before the records department retrieves your folder. Still, you wait for another one and a half hours before the nurses check your vital signs. Then, one more hour to see the doctor. This is three and a half (31/2) hours gone down the drain, never returning.

In addition, you still have to join another queue at the Pharmacy to cost your prescription. Yet another at the pay point, then back to the pharmacy to get your drugs. Oh Gosh! how I loathe these time wasting and waiting. Sadly, this happens in all facets of the economy and I am sure you do not want it to go on. But can we change it? Yes, by our vote at the coming election this Saturday.

We need focused and passionate leaders who would correct this and get things moving fast.

In most cases, our hospitals lack functioning equipment, administrative and medical professionalism etc. Unfortunately, these needs have led to the unwarranted loss of precious lives.

Hence, we must decide in the coming election, to let in the leaders that can make right these situations by making an informed choice. Think about it.

Unpaid Salaries, Working Condition:

Don’t forget the issue of unpaid salaries. This goes on consistently for months in some states. Therefore, we no longer want to vote for leaders who do not care or simply turn a blind eye to the wellbeing and welfare of citizens. Have this in mind when making your choices concerning your governors too.

However, we want leaders who would deliver excellent working condition, and ensure to get maximum productivity from workers. Thus, a happy worker should put in the work. This should no longer be business as usual, where people go to work and go back home having done nothing.

Nigerians expect a whole lot from the government, but we also have a huge part to play or contribute. For things to really work, we must take responsibly. For example, if the government should invest in the training of staff, the staff, in turn, must get the job done. By so doing, Nigeria can move forward.

The Environment – Crucial:

My interest is really huge in knowing what plans the election 2019 candidates have concerning our environment. I wonder if they see our environment as a very important sector that it is.

Renewable energy, for instance, is what we should be using, in order to contribute our quoter in fighting climate change. Amazingly, Nigeria keeps signing agreements just like other world leaders to curb this menace, but never really gets round to actionable plans and implementation.

But we can stop polluting our environment by resorting to using renewable energy and getting rid of wastes from our homes and streets.

Nigeria should divert attention from gas-fired electricity generation, and save the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole from pollution.

This we can do only if we make the right choice of leadership in the coming Nigeria election 2019. Leaders that can drive Nigeria to a near Zero Waste State like Sweden. YES, we can do that!

Infrastructure:

On the other hand, if it hurts you to drive on bad roads daily, or you trek on rough road paths and your ‘knockabout’ pair of shoes nor dey last.

Or if you as a car owner, have to pay visits to the mechanic every other day, spend money unnecessary that you should rather utilize for other useful expenditures, had the roads been motorable. Then check out your candidates. Scrutinize them and make your own decision, but shine your eyes.

Tourism?
In my opinion, this sector has been scoring zero percent. Almost all the places we brag about and call tourist attraction are really not meeting up to standard. I mean, what is so special about the national mosque, or a state university, and the church structures? Did we build these structures using standards of unique or new architectural breakthroughs? Why would somebody leave his/her country to come and see these things when they have better structures in theirs? Do you get my drift?

And the Millennium Park in Abuja? In my opinion, it should be a normal thing for Nigeria to have such parks at every corner of our cities/towns. I don’t have to travel all the way from Kubwa to Maitama, to be at the park.

I have seen very similar beautiful natural topographies around Abuja that we should convert into lovely packs. But sadly, we use them as refuse dumps and the authorities do little to stop that. And again, I ask, why should a park like that be called a tourist attraction? These visitors have them littered around their neighborhood.

Therefore, the Nigeria election 2019 should deliver to us leaders who would for sure develop this sector, make it a revenue generator and a thing of pride indeed. Our tropical nature is what is peculiar about us.

Furthermore, we must preserve our animals, and save them from being killed. Our forest is almost gone, and the desert is encroaching fast. This is not beautiful. Who wants to tour a country like this, hm?

Nigerians, wake up, choose the leaders who have this foresight and are passionate about these things. Leaders that truly want to make a change.

We no longer want leaders who make promises during elections like; “I will repair your roads and bring pipe born water to your homes” Promises! promises! promises! Our ears have grown sore from bombardments with repetition of such tales.

We want informed and intelligent leaders who know what democracy is and are willing to practice it. Leaders who have a clear vision for leadership. Who understands that leadership is servant-ship. Leaders who would listen to the people. Leaders who know the pain of the people and fixes problems. Leaders who are willing to stick out their necks for Nigeria and readily would give their lives to save it.

It is time for us to stop being ‘follow follow’, stop collecting stipend to put just anybody in power. This person will not remember that you exist when he gets there. So why sell your birthright so cheaply?

Put in the Sacrifice Today:

We must adopt the mindset of “Put in the sacrifice now and gain the rewards later”. Sacrifice in terms of self-denial of gains today that would jeopardize our future. Shun politicians who during Nigeria election offer you money to buy your vote. Deny yourself today of the garri or N500 rice, which that stipend can only give you. Let us fight for our tomorrow and that of our children.

People are Destroyed for Lack of Knowledge:

Basically where to start is by allowing ourselves to be exposed to information. Get knowledge. People are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Read books, national and international news, magazines, blogs. Get to know what is happening around you and around the world.

This way, you will know that we are far behind trends and development. The world is speeding far ahead and we let ourselves to be dragged at the tail, yet we sing praises of ourselves. Isn’t that a shame?

The time has come at the Nigeria election to take our destinies in our own hands.

We must be honest with ourselves. Think about tomorrow.

Nigeria Election 2019; Vote Worthy Candidates, Not for a Party:

Please note that, instead of voting for a party, examine the candidates, drop ethnicity, religion, gender sentiments, party craziness, and tribalism. Vote realistic worthy candidates. Let us be wise. A party will not deliver to us what we want.

And let us face it. We must team up together to rebuild what we all played a part in pulling down.

As we all know, the points above are only a bit of Nigeria’s numerous issues.

In summary, I call on you, fellow Nigerians, as the election 2019 fast approaches to begin to think about these candidates if we are not doing so already. Take a look again at the debate, shine your eyes, access the candidates then make your choice. Let us vote the right candidate who would listen, who recognizes that he/she is in a democratic setting and must allow democracy to prevail.

We, the people, are part of the government. Therefore, we must build our Nigeria together.

Get your PVC and Vote.

God bless Nigeria.
