Nairaland / General / Sources Explain What Will Happen To Emefiele Following DSS Arrest by Fidelarinze9(m): 2:10pm On Jun 10, 2023
The suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, will not be prosecuted following his arrest by the Department of State Service (DSS), THE WHISTLER has been told.

Security and government sources have told this newspaper that Emefiele would be removed as CBN governor after his investigation.

The revelation followed controversies surrounding the arrest and detention of Emefiele after he was suspended from office on Friday evening.

Emefiele was suspended by President Bola Tinubu over an ongoing investigation of his office. He was subsequently arrested by the DSS.

The DSS had, however, denied detaining him in a tweet on Saturday, raising eyebrows as to his whereabouts.

However, THE WHISTLER has gathered that the suspended CBN governor was arrested at about 2 am on Saturday from his residence, contrary to earlier reports that he was arrested Friday evening.

Multiple sources with details of his arrest told THE WHISTLER that Emefiele is still in the custody of the DSS, and the denial by the agency is a part of the exit plan for him to escape without facing prosecution.

The source said:

Nairaland / General / IGP ‘secretly’ Reinstates 3 Officers Dismissed For Misuse Of Firearm by Fidelarinze9(m): 12:37pm On May 27, 2023
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has secretly authorised the reinstatement of three Special Protected Unit (SPU) officers dismissed for unprofessional conduct.

The officers, attached to a popular Kano-based musician, Dauda Rarara, were captured in a viral video repeatedly firing shots from their firearms into the air in the presence of civilians including children.

The officers: Inspector Dahiru Shuaibu, Sergeant Abdullahi Badamasi, and Sergeant Isah Danladi attached to the SPU Base 1, in Kano were subsequently arrested, subjected to an orderly room trial and dismissed on April 13.

However, THE WHISTLER exclusively obtained a document from the office of the IGP, with number: AH: 6790/FPM/ FHQ/ABJ/VOL, dated May 25, stating the IGP’s approval of their return to the force.

The document, signed by CP Shawulu Danmamman, in charge of Discipline and Reinstatement at the Police Force Headquarters, noted that the approval took effect on May 18.

Nairaland / General / Tinubu Will Appoint One Of These 13 Police Officers As Next IGP by Fidelarinze9(m): 6:57pm On May 08, 2023
THE WHISTLER has obtained a document listing the seven (7) Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) and 33 Assistant Inspector Generals (AIGs) currently serving in the Nigeria Police Force, and who are in line to succeed Usman Baba as the Inspector General of Police.

President Muhammadu Buhari was expected to appoint one of the 40 officers as the 22nd Inspector General of Police (IGP) following the expiration of IGP Usman Baba’s tenure in March 2023, but he never did.

Analysis of the profiles of the 40 officers showed that a total of 14 senior officers: 11 AIGs and three (3) DIGs are scheduled for retirement in 2023.

By 2024, a total of 13 senior officers: 11 AIGs and two (2) DIGs will also retire from the police force.

The incoming president, Bola Tinubu, is left with the available options of 11 AIGs and two (2) DIGs on the roll to appoint the next IGP.

Below Are Profiles Of The 13 Officers ‘Qualified’ To Be Appointed IGP:

Nairaland / General / Unpaid Salary Arrears: Lagos Police Move To Avert Plan Protest By Retd Officers by Fidelarinze9(m): 6:48pm On Apr 10, 2023
A memo between the Lagos State’s Intelligence Bureau, Ikeja and the Commissioner of Police (CP), Idowu Owohunwa, obtained by THE WHISTLER has confirmed reports of a planned protest by retired officers of the Nigeria Police Force over unpaid six months’ salary arrears.

The retired officers who are within the ranks of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), in a letter titled: ‘PAY ARREARS OR GO’, said they had concluded plans to protest in Lagos, Katsina, Benue, Cross River among other states.

The officers are not only demanding the payment of six-month salary arrears approved and reportedly implemented by the Federal Government, but the immediate removal of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba whose tenure elapsed in March.

In a police memo seen by THE WHISTLER, the Officer in Charge of the state’s intelligence bureau called the attention of the Lagos CP to the proposed plan and recommended that actionable strategies be put in place to avert the protest scheduled for May 29.

Crime / EXCLUSIVE: Unease In Police As IGP Accused Of Sitting On N79m Election Allowance by Fidelarinze9(m): 1:15pm On Apr 05, 2023
There’s palpable unease among officers of the Nigeria Police Force over the alleged refusal of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali-Baba to release the compiled funds for the payment of over N79,870,000 earmarked for officers for election monitoring and evaluation among other duties.

Nearly three weeks after the election, many of the officers were yet to be paid any allowance while those who were paid alleged that they were not fully paid.

At least 670 officers deployed to the 28 states where the governorship and houses of assembly elections were held also had the onus of monitoring the social media space as regards political and security situations and ensuring compliance of policemen to the electoral guidelines.

The officers, drawn across various units of the police force in Abuja, were entitled to Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) and per diem (daily allowance), based on their grade level in the civil services.

The approval for the DTA was contained in a circular with number: SWC/C/O4/S.6/II/333 and obtained by THE WHISTLER. It was signed by the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission and dated August 31, 2022.

Officers within the ranks of Inspectors and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP) were entitled to N17,500 per diem; those between the ranks of Superintendents of Police (SP) and Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) were entitled to N20,000 per diem.

Also, Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) and Commissioners of Police (CPs) were entitled to N25,000 per diem while senior officers within the ranks of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) and the Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) were entitled to N37,500 per diem.

Others including Police corporals and Sergeants fall under the 10,000 and N15,000 per diem category...

...Most of the officers had stayed for at least seven days before returning to Abuja without receiving a penny. Officers especially the Inspectors and the rank and file who form a major part of the deployment had expected to receive their allowances multiplied by the days they had stayed behind.

Two weeks after the election, some of the officers were paid less than the amount approved for them by the Federal Government. The credit alert was sent via a private individual without a description.

Officers who spoke off-the-record to THE WHISTLER were angry that the IGP has denied them their entitlements.

“To think I paid for my transportation to and from that volatile state (withheld) with N30,000 from my pocket, only to get N15,000. It is not even up to a day’s money.

“Many of us had to look for friends to stay with during the nine days we stayed. We paid for every expense. The excuse of the CP Election is that IGP did not give him any money, so he is paying N15,000 as DTA.

Like I said earlier, Buhari lost the war before he even started. No one gives two fvcks about him again.

To the high ranking members of APC, myself inclusive, we've already delivered Tinubu as our new president. We're waiting for his swearing on the 29th of May.

The only people still supporting Buhari in APC today are those that can't deliver their polling unit. Bashir Ahmad couldn't even clinch a primaries ticket. AGF, Malami couldn't get Governorship ticket. Buhari himself couldn't stop Jagaban from winning the primaries despite his envy.

Even Aisha Buhari is not supporting Buhari at the moment.

Buhari has less than 3 months to fvck off Aso Rock grin.

To the big political players, he technically has one week. All they need to do is deliver Tinubu next week and Buhari's orders will be equivalent to an order made by Obasanjo or Goodluck Jonathan.

To be honest, no APC governor gives a fvck about the dictator at the moment.

He is still in charge of the institusions of the state and security apparatuses, it will be unwise to attack him frontally in a country where rule of law does not really apply. Not that I care though.
Politics / Re: Rinu: Scarcity Of Naira Is Only Going To Help Politicians Buy Votes by Fidelarinze9(m): 3:21pm On Feb 15, 2023
Hopium:
cheesy Jungle don dey mature small small.

When they were making noise about how Buhari is punishing Tinubu to stop him from buying vote, they didn't think in this direction. They were suffering the cash and fuel scarcity in real life, but will come online to rejoice because Tinubu is going to lose the election. That delusional satisfaction and pending reward far outweigh the suffering, depression, and hunger waving across the nation. In their small and feeble mind, the pain and anguish they themselves are experiencing (including their parents in the village, their neighbors, loved ones, friends, and colleagues) is worth it so far Obi is coasting to victory.

Jungle don dey mature.

Only a naïve and inexperience mind - that doesn't know how the real world works - would think a person like Asiwaju can't access the new notes for vote buying. When people say Obi followers are dense, they're right. Very right. The mystery is that majority of his fan base are schooled but seeing how they think would make you pity the hard earned money their parents wasted sending them to school.

To every dull obidient other there who still think the naira scarcity is working in the favour of their principal, get it into your skull that aside the relative ease politicians now have to buy votes on the 25th, the apex danger of all is the possibility of the election not holding and an interim government being installed. Asiwaju tried to redirect your minds towards the things that matter, but you called him all sort of names.

INEC is already complaining of cash scarcity. What happens if they can't get cash to mobilize their ad-staff? I've read some mumu takes today about how INEC doesn't need cash to carry out their responsibility. Many people need to get their brain checked. I fear for the future of this country. We have so many illiterates who only went to school but failed to be educated. Full adults in their 50s, 40s, 30s who doesn't how the world works; have no clue about the nation's electoral process; zero clue about national politics; people who have substituted social media raves with critical thinking. These are people who have passed on their genes or getting prepared to. cheesy

I'm not doomposting nor praying for this to happen: The supreme court judgement only put Nigerians into more confusion. The CBN has rendered old notes illegal, banks are rejecting it, filling stations are rejecting it, people have started to reject too. BUT there's no new cash in circulation. Nigerians are in a limbo with no where to face. The commander-in-chief is silent. CBN is not obeying court orders.

From now until election, we will see many protests and riots. I don't see how this election won't be postponed. I don't. And when this happen, print it in your brain that Jagaban is not your enemy. He voiced out, warned us of impending dangers, even gave the CBN solution.

Your enemy is Buhari and by some extension Emefiele (that one will end up in jail one way or the other).
So you are saying Tinubu will buy votes?

You lots should stop spreading ill news about the VP..what should he be doing on a campaign trail when his boss the president is already present? There is no bad blood between the VP and his godfather Tinubu and even if they were it has little or no impact to Tinubu's ambition.

If not greed, why would an Osibanjo even think of contesting against his principal since you know over 8 years ago that being a president was his target..he literally took you from nowhere and made you a commissioner, from there to a VP,second most prestigious position in the world.

I am not a BAT supporter but he is a good man and wants the growth of all arounf him including foreigners(IGBOS)..he is the first governor to make an Igbo man commissioner, local government chairman in lagos state..Even an Igbo man from Anambra would not make another from Imo a part of his administration. If not tribalism why would the IGBOS hate Tinubu so much? what has he done to them at the federal level? he made lagod more habitable for them.
