Olalekank: You obviously didn't read the post. It's a long post so I understand. In the post, one of the reasons I mentioned is "Companies/Clients setting impossible deadlines". A lot of Nigerian Companies that have the best developers in Nigeria still come up with Crappy Apps. Example Interswitch. Their Developers are high class. But their Apps are unbelievable. About your WhatsApp iOS example, it just falls under the Mentality I talked about. The fact that they didn't do that right, does it justify you not doing it right? Please read the post and see that I am not just attacking developers at all. But instead Clients and Companies also. All these contribute to our buggy Apps |

smh, being a business owner, I really dislike people like this OP. This guy has obviously not even used their service, and he came here to rant about how they are scammers. No proof, no nothing. Even Donald Trump has more proof than you. Do you know how difficult it is to come up with ideas only for some random Nairaland Blogger that cannot even make $100 from his blog in a month to come call you out as a SCAMMER. Do you know about high CPC keywords like Insurance, Properties, Real Estates? Blogging is not easy, but when done right and with the right Niche, you can make that much even for a young website. You just came here to rant about your ignorance. Na people like you SARS dey shoot. And if you like come up with the dumb theory of me being an agent, it'll just prove my point about your ignorance level even more. |

Programming / Why Nigerian Apps Are ALWAYS Buggy by FincoApps(m): 12:15am On Nov 21, 2019 |
This is probably one of my longest posts but I believe it should go a bit far in improving the quality of Nigerian Made Apps. I find it necessary to first of all, acknowledge that this is an unusual article in that this topic is rarely up for discussion in the Nigerian Techsphere. My main purpose of writing this article is to highlight the reasons “Made in Nigeria” apps always look and feel…“Nigerian”! Although it may seem offensive, this is something that should ultimately help Software Developers in Nigeria, create better Apps and shake off the stigma of bad quality. WHAT IS “THE NIGERIAN FACTOR” What exactly do I mean by “The Nigerian Factor”? The Nigerian factor is that obvious or not too obvious bug or imperfection present in most Apps made in Nigeria. These kinds of bugs immediately make a user know the App is made in Nigeria. The imperfections can be of different types or categories. Most obvious ones are: Minor User Interface Bugs: These are bugs like weirdly positioned logos or improperly centered views etc… These are minor but obvious imperfections. Unfortunately, they are more common in Nigerian Apps. Bad User experience: These are not actually bugs. They are just UI behaviors that are either not expected or odd. Grammatical errors: Grammatical errors, is just what it says – spelling mistakes, improper punctuation (in a Corporate App). These are minor, but their presence, unfortunately, gives away the nationality of the App. Plain old bugs: These are the normal bugs in almost all apps but much more obvious in Nigerian Apps. EXAMPLES OF APPS WITH THE NIGERIAN FACTOR Apparently, just listing a couple of bug categories is not enough to fully grasp the concept of the Nigerian factor, so in this part, I will list some popular Nigerian Apps and point out the Nigerian factors I could find in them. Please continue reading on the blog: https://fincoapps.com/why-nigerian-apps-are-always-buggy/ 2 Likes 1 Share |
Webmasters / Pin Pals – Dating App (android Version) by FincoApps(m): 2:00am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Most of our readers would know by now that at FincoApps, we were in love with the BlackBerry OS and we only stopped developing for BlackBerry 2017. One of the Apps we designed is Pin Pals Dating App. This is one of the Apps we are quite proud of. However, at first, Pin Pals dating App was available only on BlackBerry OS. We later launched a quick version for Android OS using Hybrid Technology. You can check it out here Pin Pals – Meet your next date. However, now that BlackBerry is almost totally out of the market, we decided to create a full native version of Pin Pals for the Android Operating System. Pin Pals has now evolved from just a Dating App to a social network that enables users meet people around the world. Pin Pals now has a lot of new features some of which are listed below. NEW FEATURES INSTANT MESSAGING The beauty of Pin Pals is the ability for you to get chatting as soon as it is downloaded. The days of sending requests before being able to communicate are leaving. Now with this dating App, you have the total freedom to tell your crush how you feel without the need to send them any form of request. INTELLIGENT SEARCH FEATURE The Random User Search feature uses your preferences over time to learn about the kind of people you might fall in love with and automatically shows them to you. ABILITY TO SEND A VIRTUAL KISS TO YOUR CRUSH Just like the Real World, dating is not just all about talking to your partner, users can can also send virtua... Webmasters / What Is The Deep Web? by FincoApps(m): 1:10am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Facebook recently announced a second URL for their site that can only be accessed through Tor. Tor is a software that allows users to log in anonymously from nearly anywhere on the planet even in countries where Facebook is heavily monitored or blocked (China, Bangladesh and North Korea for example). This makes Facebook the first major web company to offer a platform on the Dark Web. So what is the Dark Web or the Deep Web? First off it is important to understand that the Internet is vast and constantly growing and the majority of our daily usage only scratches the surface. Google, Yahoo, and other search engines only show us about 4% of the data available on the Internet. To access the other 96% we require customized digging through individual sites, sub pages, restricted access journals or archives and so on this 96% is called the Deep Web. It is also important to understand that pretty much everything we do online is visible, traceable and even possibly being monitored. Everything except for the areas of the Deep Web that are masked by the Dark Web. The Dark Web is concealed through a series of identity masking layers. This basically means that you can access and interact with it anonymously without being tracked. This is achieved through a special encryption software like Tor. What exactly is Tor browser? TOR actually stands for The Onion Router. The Tor browser currently publicly available is actually based on Firefox Browser. This means that when installed on your computer, it appears and acts like your standard Firefox browser. However, instead of routing your co... Webmasters / How To Prevent Default Context Menu In Hybrid Apps On Blackberry by FincoApps(m): 1:05am On Sep 02, 2019 |
Hybrid applications are really nice because of the “code once, build all” philosophy. However, since Hybrid apps are actually web apps, they tend to show a context menu when a user tap and holds some elements like links, images or texts. Hybrid app developers would agree with me that this context menu is pretty ugly in apps, so it’s best to just remove them. Well since I’m a huge BlackBerry fan, I love to develop for BlackBerry and this context menu seems to be a really disturbing problem for me and a lot of other BlackBerry developers. This is because most of the solutions to remove this context menu works on all other devices but BlackBerry. So css solutions like: -webkit-touch-callout:none; -webkit-user-select:none; -webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(0,0,0,0); or Javascript solutions like: $(document).bind('contextmenu', function(e) { return false; }); document.oncontextmenu = function() { return false; } or even HTML solutions like: <body oncontextmenu="return false"> Do not work at all. Most of these solutions do work on Android, Windows and others, however, it never seems to work on BlackBerry10. A work around for this context menu issue on BlackBery10 is: Replace all <a> tags with something like the <span> tag. This way, the OS would not see this element as a link and not bother your users with a context menu on tap hold. Remove all <img> tags. Replace them with <div> tags and use css to set their background image instead. So this: <img src = "data/fincoa... Webmasters / How To Make A Game With Processing (game Development) by FincoApps(m): 1:00am On Sep 02, 2019 |
In this tutorial, we would be going into game development by creating a simple game using Processing IDE. The game features a bouncing ball with a Paddle to catch the bouncing ball. In order to understand this tutorial, you need to have a basic knowledge of programming, preferably in Java. For this game development tutorial, you would need to download Processing IDE from Processing Website Here’s what you are going to be creating First of all before we begin, I’ll like to say “If you are already a programmer, it’s very normal for your mind to think you cannot go on with a game development project all because it seems too complex”. But for me, the way I overcome such thoughts is I decide to break the project down to steps and just start. If I get stuck in a step, I’ll seek help for that step. The first step in game development in processsing is to create the skeleton of the game, so open processing and type in following Java void setup() { } void draw() { } 12345678 void setup(){} void draw(){ } The first method above which is the setup() method is executed once, so basically code that you wish to execute just once should go there. (These are mainly codes that initialize variables or instantiate classes). The second method which is the draw() method is executed continuously, so code that you wish to execute repeatedly should go here (Basically the visible items or items that are drawn on the screen go here.). Webmasters / How To Remove A Key From JSON Object In PHP by FincoApps(m): 1:59pm On Aug 31, 2019 |
When developing with backend technologies like PHP, a time comes when you need to use and manipulate JSON objects. One of such manipulations is removing or deleting a JSON key. There are several ways to do this, however, I find the below method preferable. unset($json["key"]); 1 unset($json["key"]); Note that for this method to work, you need to pass a true parameter to the second argument of the json_decode() method. See the below sample: $json = json_decode($json , true); unset($json["key"]); 12 $json = json_decode($json , true);unset($json["key"]); The second parameter simply tells the method to return an associative array instead of an object. Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comment box below. ... Read more at https://fincoapps.com/how-to-remove-a-key-from-json-object-in-php/ |
Webmasters / What Do Hackers Do With Your Information by FincoApps(m): 1:59am On Aug 31, 2019 |
So there have been lots and lots of reports in the news and internet lately about large-scale data breaches caused by anything from clever and intelligent hacking to poor security practices to somebody just leaving an harmless-looking flash drive lying around. But once everyone’s email addresses passwords and credit card numbers get stolen what actually happens to all that information? Like is there something like Walmart for cybercriminals where they go to buy your personal information at rollback prices. And if your information is indeed part of a massive breach how do you find out what the appropriate precautions are? So one thing that is helpful in understanding what happens after a data breach is to realize the sheer scope of many of these Data Breaches. It is not uncommon for these breaches to affect tens of millions of people at once and sometimes even more, so that means that it isn’t particularly easy for an individual user to search through large databases of stolen information especially considering the sorts of places that information ends up. These data oftentimes will appear on dark web markets that require special software to access them where it is indeed bought and sold by Cyber criminals hoping to rack up fraudulent charges drain someone’s bank account or even commit outright identity theft. You can learn more about the dark web here but it turns out that this is not the only place where personal data can appear. In fact, sometimes it will show up in a much more public Pastebin site. What is a Pastebin site? Well, a Pastebin website co... Read more at https://fincoapps.com/what-do-hackers-do-with-your-information/ |
Webmasters / What Exactly Is A URL? by FincoApps(m): 1:59pm On Aug 30, 2019 |
If you have ever used the internet (which you have probably done considering you are reading this post) then, you have almost certainly typed in a Uniform Resource, locator or URL, to get to https://fincoapps.com. But while some are simple, like LAN, full-length URLs can look awfully confusing. Why do we need things like http, https, ftp, ftps in there and what are all those ampersands (&, question marks (?) and hash (#)? Basic components of a URL Let us demystify the ingredients of your typical web address, starting with the beginning of the scheme HTTP The most familiar will probably be HTTP, which stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol. The set of commands that handles the transmission of Webpages. But there are other schemes as well. For example, if you have ever Clicked on an email address, you might notice that the link starts with “mailto” (a scheme that tells the browser to open up your default email client). There is also FTP or File Transfer Protocol, which is used to send….. files to and from remote servers and even IRC, which allows you to connect directly to a chatroom. Domain Name The next part of a typical URL is usually a domain name. The name of a website like amazon or microsoft. This is called a top-level domain or TLD which you can think of as the main categories that sort every website on the Internet and help route your request through several servers to get you to the correct IP address the requested website is located on. For example in “amazon.com”, amazon is the TLD. Similarly in “microsoft.com”, m... Read more at https://fincoapps.com/what-exactly-is-a-url/ |

Webmasters / Some Really Cool HTML 5 Apps For Your Inspiration by FincoApps(m): 1:59am On Aug 29, 2019 |
If you are about to start your journey into HTML5/Hybrid app development but are a little confused about how good hybrid apps can get, then read on. HTML5 apps have a relatively bad reputation as compared to native Apps. One of the main reasons for this is because it is amazingly easy to create crappy HTML5 apps even without knowing it… I was once guilty of this. Another reason is that some hybrid app developers are from a Web Design/Development background so they tend to develop apps just the way they would for a standard website forgetting the fact that mobile apps run on devices with relatively low hardware configurations. This means using some things like unnecessary Javascript animations would absolutely be inappropriate for a Hybrid App. So below is a list of some pretty cool HTML5 apps/games for your inspiration Brick Breaker Bold for BlackBerry10 – I didn’t believe this game was actually created with HTML5 until a BlackBerry Development Advisor confirmed it BlackBerry10 Browser – I still find it difficult to believe that the BlackBerry10 native browser was built with HTML5 even though it has been confirmed from a BlackBerry source. ViceVersa Walk2view GT Bank Mobile App Tic Tac Toe – This game is really amazing Summon Love Sms Collection – I personally developed this app, and I know there is still room for improvement Pin Pals – Meet your next date – This app can also be greatly improved on but it still deserves to be on this list. This list would be updated from time to time. ... Read more at https://fincoapps.com/some-really-cool-html-5-apps-for-your-inspiration/ 1 Like |

Webmasters / [SOLUTION] Error: Resource Android:attr/dialogcornerradius Not Found. by FincoApps(m): 1:59am On Aug 28, 2019 |
This error is actually more annoying than common. One of the major reasons it is so annoying is because of the fact that it does not actually point to the exact line or file that caused the error. It leaves it up to you to figure it out. Cause We still have not been able to point out what exactly triggers this error but it seems to have something to do with a mismatch in your Gradle dependencies. Solution There are different ways to fix this issue. Not all of them will work for you. Check your build.gradle file to make sure your compileSdkVersion matches the version of your support libraries. compileSdkVersion 27 implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:26.1.0' implementation 'com.android.support:design:26.1.0' 123 compileSdkVersion 27 implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:26.1.0' implementation 'com.android.support:design:26.1.0' The above code will possibly throw this error because the support library version does not match the compileSdkVersion. So to fix this, upgrade your support library version. Migrate your entire project to AndroidX. To migrate your project, follow these instructions: Click on the Refractor menu item in Android Studio Click on “Migrate to AndroidX”. Follow screen instructions The second solution could be problematic in large and complex projects. You might be required to manually migrate some of your libraries. However, this solution is guaranteed to solve this error as long as the migration ... Read more at https://fincoapps.com/error-resource-androidattr-dialogcornerradius-not-found/ |
