Education / Movies Financial Literacy Nigeria by FinLitNig: 4:26pm On Jun 14, 2016
Financial Literacy has become important in Nigeria ever since the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) launched the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) in 2012. The strategy aims to reduce the number of adult Nigerians who do not have access to financial services from 46.3 per cent in 2010 to 20 per cent in 2020; and to improve product usage by empowering consumers of financial products and services through an increase in coordinated financial literacy measures that are complemented by consumer protection.

Financial Literacy helps individuals deal with personal finances by increasing their knowledge and understanding of financial products and processes; financial planning and control; and confidence in dealing with money matters and financial service providers.

The SEDIN programme of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) aims to increase sustainable employment and income generation in MSMEs in Nigeria. As part of our interventions in the financial sector, the GIZ-SEDIN Programme has developed two (2) financial literacy movies to help increase awareness and access to financial products and services in Nigeria. The movies were produced to create awareness about Microfinance and Microinsurance in Plateau State, Nigeria and beyond. The series combines educational messages with a good amount of entertainment.

1. E Go Better - The Microfinance Way: Introduces the audience on different financial products and especially how microfinance works. Watch the trailer of the movie by clicking on this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqxZZm2Dsmo
