The problem is that a lot of people do not know about credential evaluation or what it really does. I have a friend who got their HND from Nigeria but traveled to the US and started undergrad degree simply because they didn’t know they had a degree already. If you just send your HND certificate directly to the school, you could be denied admission because the school does not understand what HND means. That’s why you proactively do credential evaluation. This tells the school that your HND is a bachelors degree though titled differently.

The purpose of this thread is to educate people. I believe you have read about the experiences of the people who wrote extensively earlier. I can confirm to you that with credential evaluation, many universities will accept you directly for a masters degree, not just that, some universities do not require GRE, many others do.

one of my former lecturer who is currently having his PhD in York university told me this morning tru our chat that most university in the U.S and Canada don't give scholarship to HND holder, and that there is no way I can gain admission into any of this uni without GMAT, GRE, TOEFL and the like.

Though I told him I have seen testimony of some of my people on Nairaland but at the same time I can't tell him that he is lying as our culture don't encourage that.

so my Oga... I don't know if u have any thing to say to this sir because what I was planning before is to do my certificate evaluation tru WES next month and later try to apply to one or two university without using GRE, GMAT or Toefl because I don't have the luxury of time to get my hand on some of the material and start jacking because my PPA is a little bit demanding.

Please i need someone to hep my sister out, she has successfully registered online to the aforementioned school, sent her transcript with (other requirement) from her school directly to the school, also she has sent emails as well as called the supposed supervisors but to no avail rather it always goes straight to the voice mail (answering machine) even though she always leave a message behind but nothing nothing, could it be that they dont answer calls from Nigeria (nawa o), nobody to acknowledge the receipt of her transcripts etc, Please can someone maybe someone already schooling there put us through on what to do, coz for me, i am already tired of the negligence and the cumbersome protocols/procedure, just that she insists she wants to study their due to her choice of course.(environment & sustainability)

To answer your question, some institutions (especially the ivy leagues) require GRE testing as part of their admission consideration requirements while many others do not require GRE testing but they do consider it and it may increase your chances as well.

Before you apply to any institution, however, first get your transcripts evaluated for BSc equivalence. World Education Services (WES) is one of the most reputable credential evaluation institutions out there which is respected by most universities and colleges.

Note: It is highly advisable that you DO NOT send your transcripts directly to the school you’re applying for admission, get your transcripts evaluated first and confirmed as BSc equivalent by WES, then send them the evaluated copy. This is because they (or their own evaluation body) may misunderstand your qualifications as the degree is titled “HND” instead of BSc, but proactively evaluating your transcripts through WES makes everything clear and easy for them. When admitted, they may require the official transcripts directly from your school, you can then request your school to send the official copies to them.

Also, when you’re requesting for your transcripts from your school, request for both ND and HND as you need them both to evaluate for BSc.

WES is in USA and Canada as well so depending on the country you want to further your education, their office in that country will assist you.

u people have been a blessing to us. with my HND certificate I usually see myself as someone who doesn't have what it take's to say things when my friends who went to the uni are talking but with this information I just gathered i think there is hope for the future for most of us who went tru the polytechnic educational setting(s).

without a doubt I have to appreciate u all for your decent work and high level of professionalism.

pls I have 3.67/4.00 in my ND computer science and 3.65/4.00 in my HND also in computer science.

Though I will be through with my Nysc programme come December.

now my question is can I use this my ND and HND certificate to apply for scholarship in any university in the US/Canada? and will doing GRE increase my chances of been admitted?

I will be so happy if this my questions are look into..
