Today, the Lagos State Government
arraigned the owner of Vintage
Hotel in Owode Onirin area of
Ikorodu, Chief Patrick Okeze before
a Yaba Magistrate Court for
allegedly aiding and promoting
same sex sexual activities and gay
club in his hotel.
Okeze was arraigned alongside two
of his workers, Sunday Isang and
Bright Oba for allegedly
encouraging the illegal act to be
perpetrated by young men and
minors in the hotel contrary to the
provisions of Same Sex Marriage
(Prohibition) Act of 2014.
The State Government had on
Thursday arraigned 28 adults and
12 minors before Yaba and Ebute-
Metta Magistrate Courts
respectively for engaging in
homosexuality using the said hotel.

Specifically, Okeze and his workers
were said to have aided 40 people
and others still at large, to engage
in same sex activities as well as gay
club/party in the said Vintage
Hotel.
In his ruling, Magistrate Ojo
ordered the defendants to be
remanded in prison pending the
DPP advice. The Magistrate also
adjourned the matter to September
4, 2017.
Magistrate Ojo had, after the
arraignment of the 28 adults on
Thursday, ordered them to undergo
health screening by the Lagos State
Aids Control Agency (LSACA) and
sexual rehabilitation by the Lagos
State Domestic and Sexual Violence
Response Team (DSVRT).

According to the Gombe State Emergency
Management Agency (SEMA), over 23 people
died and five others are missing in the flood
disaster that happened in the state between
June and July.
Acting Head of Rescue and Rehabilitation of
SEMA, Malam Mohammed Garbay made this
known to journalists in Gombe today…
He said apart from those who were killed, 21
houses were also destroyed by the flood, over
a hundred houses got flooded and home
owners had to evacuate, and that 119
farmlands at Jauro Baba, Jauro Mai and
Jauro Saini communities at Kamo Ward in
Kaltungo Local Government of the state were
also washed away by the flood.

The Awujale of Ijebu Ode and paramount
ruler of Ijebu Land, Sikiru Adetona, is alive,
contrary to rumour, the monarch’s cousin

Nigeria, Bayo Onanuga, has told us
The rumour of the Awujale’s passing
started going viral on social media
platforms, especially Facebook, Monday
afternoon.
“It’s not true; he is alive and I spoke with
him today,” said Mr. Onanuga. “He is in
Lagos and he is just laughing over the
rumour.”
Mr. Onanuga said the monarch was ill two
weeks ago and travelled to Lagos for
treatment at a hospital from which he was
discharged two days afterwards.
“We are from the same ruling house; I’m
his cousin. That’s why we are close, not
because of I’m a Journalist,” said Mr.
Onanuga.
Mr. Onanuga said it was not the first time
the monarch would be rumoured to have
died.
The Awujale was born in 1934 and
ascended the Ijebu throne in 1960.
“Yes, the man is old,” remarked Mr.
Onanuga, “but he is fine.”
He disclosed the monarch is in popular
Lagos hotel where he has been resting since
he was discharged from the hospital.
In Ogun State, a source at the palace of
the monarch also debunked the rumour.
”Not true. Kabiyesi is recuperating and
presently at the Oriental Hotel in Lekki,” the
source said.

President Muhammadu Buhari
today met with the leadership of
the All Progressives Congress (APC)
and some governors elected on the
party’s platform.
A statement by the presidency,
which provided a photograph of
the event, gave the names of those
who met with the president to
include Governors Rochas
Okorocha of Imo, Umaru Tanko Al-
Makura of Nasarawa, Nasir El-
Rufai of Kaduna, Yahaya Bello of
Kogi, and the APC National
Chairman, John Oyegun.
Here’s what the President’s
spokesperson, Femi Adeshina said
regarding the meeting:
In a telephone conversation
following the meeting of All
Progressives Congress (APC)
governors and leaders with
President Muhammadu Buhari in
LondonSunday, Governor Rochas
Okorocha of Imo State, said the
President was very cheerful and
has not lost any bit of his sense of
humour.
The governor said the party
delegation spent more than an
hour with President Buhari over
lunch, and it was very clear from
the discussions that he followed
developments at home very closely.
He said the President was delighted
to receive the delegation and asked
each governor about affairs in his
state. He also asked the Minister of
Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi,
about the state of the railways.
When asked to react to all the
negative things being said about
him, the President just laughed,
describing such negative reports as
lies. Governor Okorocha said
President Buhari was completely
unperturbed by the cocktail of lies.
He, instead, sent his best wishes to
Nigerians.
According to the governor,
Nigerians don’t have to worry at
all, adding that President Buhari
will be back as soon as the doctors
give him the green light.
“By our visit to London today, the
merchants of lies have been put out
of business and Nigerians will not
buy the garbage they have been
selling. All those who look up to
fake news can find better use for
their time,” Governor Okorocha
noted.

Not less than Ten persons including a toddler were confirmed dead in an accident involving a white Mazda bus and a Mack truck at Ibara village , along Abeokuta /Sagamu Expressway in Ogun on Thursday.







Apart from those that lost their lives, Five others were critically injured.

Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the incident.

Akinbiyi told newsmen in Abeokuta that the crash which occurred around 10:30 am was caused by reckless driving on the part of the Mark truck loaded with granite.

He stated that four male, five female and a toddler died in the accident while three male and two female were seriously injured.

“The Mazda with registration number TRE 556 XA was coming from Sango going towards Ijebu Ode and Ijebu Igbo before the accident.

"We Learnt that the bus parked by the traffic corridor to allow one of the passengers, a female, answer the call of nature, when the trailer from no where rammed into the bus from behind.

"The trailer with registration number LND 564 XP dragged the bus along until it fell on it.

"Three of the dead victims were prospective students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, OOU, who were going to the school to formalise their admission requirements.

" The baby who died among other victims, was two months old and she died with her mother, " he said.

The TRACE spokesman explained that the corpses of the dead were deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) mortuary, while the injured were taken to same hospital for treatment.

He, however, said that the driver of the trailer that caused the fatal

Rsidents of Kiwafu West, Division ‘B’ in
Entebbe Municipality, Uganda were
thrown into
mourning after a 12-year-old boy
identified as
Derrick Mukisa, a primary two (P.2)
pupil at
Kiwafu Modern Primary School was
found
hanging on a rope in a bed at his home
on
Wednesday, June 28th.
Taban Stephen, the deceased uncle said
that
he returned home from a nearby
carpentry
workshop where he works, at about
8.30pm and
on opening the bedroom door, he saw
the boy
hanging dead on a rope.
He notified the Land Lord Hussein
Nusura who
in turn contacted the OC Station Entebbe
Police.
According to Doreen Namusisi, the
grandmother to the deceased:
“Mukisa returned home from school on
Wednesday to have lunch and on his
way back
to school, I found out that my money
Shs70,000= was missing.”
She further revealed that she went to the
school to inquire whether it was her
grandson
who had taken the money, and he
(deceased)
admitted to have kept the money under
the
pillow.
“I returned and surely found the money
under
the pillow, then proceeded to the landing
site in
Kigungu where i normally work,”
explained Ms.
Namusisi.
It’s not yet clear what drove the boy to
end
his life however, close neighbors who
spoke on
condition of anonymity revealed that the
family
has many problems, adding that the
deceased
father poisoned himself when his wife
was two
months pregnant.
