For me i graduated from a respected school here in Nigeria after than i went on for my service. after my service<NYSC> i thought i work but when i tried searching for a job it was becoming tedious and unwise for me to just sit at home saying im looking for a job so i decided to go for my Msc.
currently im done with my Msc so im hoping by GOD grace something would come up. im also trying to get my self in some professional courses not to keep me idle.
just watch and pray by GOD grace everything would work out well.

sir,

Hope my post is not coming too late and I hope you still working with the bank currently.

Yes, I read petrus post and I totally agree with her, keep working no matter the predicament you find your self. Just keep to your self that you won't remain there forever or the manager won't remain there for ever.

Most importantly my friend always PRAY because the office is always like a war zone, No friends at work believe me when I tell you this.

I'm not here to talk about me but I have been in more than what you facing and I tell you with GOD I have grown above the office politics and I believe with time, concentration you would do same. Just be good at your work, develop your self and GOD would place you in were no man can reach.

I wish you all the best at work.

Cheers

My fellow nairalanders, Hope you all doing well? I was inspired to create this group because i think its high time we reach out to compatriot/colleagues/students so as to guide them and let them know how bad it is to commit plagiarism. But we should try and help them in project topics and also tell them the department which that topic can be used effectively.

We should be mature enough to assist them if they are in need of contact in other to learn about your work.

Firstly i would start with myself. I graduated from Federal University of Technology, Akure and also from University of Lagos from the department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and my project topics are;

1. Mechanical properties of coir fiber reinforced with polyester composite
2. Mechanical and physio-chemical behaviours of organic and inorganic waste reinforced polyester composite
3. Mechanical properties of AZ91 Magnesium alloy.

I do hope you share my idea and kindly support me in reaching out to Nigerians

Nice one. Supported! We have to be reasonable here and stop being a clown.

woodcook: I thought people come to this forum to seek advice/help and get one in return. Based on the comments above I am beginning to think otherwise. That he attended a private uni is not a crime, please if anyone out there has a solution or at least word of advise for him, kindly let him know. As for those attacking him, the op may have sounded strong but deep inside you guys don't know how frustrating it is for him, whether he is on the verge of committing suicide. Please when people come to this forum with their problems if you don't have anything positive to say to them just keep quiet. You never can tell what harm your careless "joke" may cause someone.

Education / Has Education Become More About Temporary Results And Grades Than Long-term Goal by Freezle(m): 10:55am On Jun 03, 2013
Dear Friends, I just want this to be a debate on the success of education.

Interesting insights. To put the point more precise the following are major disastrous practices we do have now,

1. Education is no more a service, just pure business. This lead to the compromising the values what originally the education should offer. Our students are studying based on what they get according to their financial capability and unjustified marks (unjustified comes my explanation below. Most of the institutions / politicians (almost all) are framing the educational system and policies with the profitability in mind rather the future of the students and the society in whole. It becomes a created demand to pursue certain courses like Medicine, engineering, MBA. More marketing you do for a course more valuable it becomes. True or not?
DOWNLOAD FREE BOOKS HERE
2. Students are consistently bugged with thoughts that they are going to school / college for earning money in future. The Passionate learners are reducing in numbers. Sorry we can't blame the students when the earlier generation had done that insisting mistake. Students minds are trying to relate learning to money without any correlation to the excellence in a particular passion they have.

3. Parents viewing their kids as an investment entity. Keep on advising them by looking at what they perceived from others around. Very few kids get support to fly free on the way to their interests explore and decide what career they want in life.

4. Look at our administrative system across nation. Most of the students does not want to know how a government rules us, their working models, pros and cons. Everywhere a job is to earn money but not to do the job with love and responsibility. The sense that every job we do for ourselves lead to national growth, cultural impact, etc. We need to have more futuristic approach right from the schooling. Else accept global warming, pollution, crimes, corruption as part of life. Cause we are not taught the importance of those in schools, we teach how to earn money by getting safe into a job.

Solutions : May look impossible for a pessimist. Optimistic view : Encourage your children to explore and decide. Give them opportunities to make mistakes when they have time to rectify.

Changing Education system cannot be created overnight or by more implementation of changed syllabus / practice. I can be brought by creating demands in students. They are the consumers of knowledge. Initiate activities to ignite their thinking. They will demand. The system has to change and provide what they want. Slowly it will change.

Thank you and i would love to hear from you.
Education / Rethinking Education by Freezle(m): 10:42am On Jun 03, 2013
I schooled in Nigeria and i think our educational system need to be restructured.

our education system is not broken but has simply become obsolete. It’s doing exactly what it was designed to do but unfortunately, our needs have changed. We can’t just make incremental improvement to the current education system to somehow make it work for the next century. It’s like changing the screen or making incremental changes to an old Nokia phone and somehow expecting it to become an iPhone.
It’s time for us to go back to the drawing board and redesign the education system for the next century. Let me give you my thoughts on the functional specifications of the education system for the next century.

Adaptive – Student Centric Learning

All of us who have or have observed children already understand that no two children are alike. We also intuitively know that children have different types of learning intelligence. Some children learn logically, some learn conceptually, some learn visually and some learn experimentally. Don’t you think it makes sense to have our education system adapt to the way a student learns rather than the way a teacher teaches? In other words, our education system needs to be “student centric” instead of “teacher centric”.

Personalized – Self-paced learning

Just like children learn differently, it should not surprise you that they also learn at a different pace. Some kids are naturally good at one subject and can master that subject more quickly but may take little longer to comprehend a different subject.

Gamification for Immersive and Addictive learning

Have you ever noticed that you never have to remind your children to play their video games? It’s always a struggle to get them to stop playing because they always want “just another 15 minutes”. Just imagine an education system that is as immersive and entertaining as a video game. Wouldn’t it be nice to hear your child begging to spend just another 15 minutes with math, history or science?

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking

Every child with access to a smart phone or other internet connected device has access to all the facts they will ever need. Do we really need schools to teach our kids basic facts or skills? I am not suggesting that children no longer need to learn these basic facts but I am suggesting that we don’t need schools and teachers to teach them. The students should learn these basic facts from various internet resources at their own pace before coming to the school. Schools can now be more productive and use the classrooms in an interactive and collaborative way to encourage children to use these pre-mastered facts to solve real world problems.

Collaborative and Peer to Peer learning

We live in a society where we have to learn to work collaboratively. When a person works collaboratively in an organization, the person is rewarded and considered a team worker. However, when a student in our current education system collaborates to get to the right answer, it’s considered cheating.
We intuitively know that there is more than one way to solve most problems. We all live and experience life differently and develop our own individual perspective. We individually may have a good idea but most of these ideas can be improved as we collaborate and get different perspective from others.

Punishment vs. Encouragement

The human brain is an amazing organ and it is optimized for our survival. It is always on the watch for the threats and acts ferociously whenever it detects a threat. It releases adrenaline, cortisol and various other neurochemicals to get ready for fight or flight. These neurochemicals increase our heart rates and shut down most non-essential functions, including our digestive systems and pre-frontal cortex.

Conclusion

We must remember that no challenge is too large for innovation and entrepreneurship to solve. The rapid pace and adoption of technology should encourage all of us to embrace what was previously unthinkable. Technology may not the answer on its own, but it can certainly help us reach the immersive, rewarding educational experiences we all seek.

We now have all the tools and technology available to us to finally create effective and engaging education system for the next century

As I said previously, it is important that we leave a better country for our children but it is even more important that we leave better children for our country.

Politics / My Country Nigeria by Freezle(m): 4:16pm On May 16, 2013
Dear friend,

Here we are passing through a tough time. Some foreign powers, in collaboration with some of our unscrupulous neighbours, are trying to destabilize our country. They do not like NIGERIANS to progress and to build her industries, Stockpiling of arms in the neighbour hoods is putting a great stain on our economy and development work, as we have to divert our funds to strengthen our defence and keep our forces in constant readiness.
Because of interference in our internal affairs, the law and order situation, especially in the border areas, has been worsening.

But, our Government is alive to the situation. In the country the opposition parties are in disarray and hungry for power. But thank God, our Government is in the hands of our farsighted and capable PRESIDENT who is tackling all the baffling problems with tact and wisdom and boldness. On the other hand, we have no dearth of friends abroad.

MOd kindly please this topic in the right position.

Warm Regards!
Kome
