As warplanes pound ISIS targets and U.S. special forces ramp up operations in Syria, the war against the terrorist group may be unfolding on another far more unconventional front as well.
The hackers’ collective known as Anonymous says it, too, is at war with ISIS. In a series of messages posted on Twitter and YouTube, Anonymous claimed to be “preparing to unleash waves of attacks” on the extremist group, which is also known as the Islamic State, ISIL, or by its Arabic acronym Daesh.
Though the latest messages refer to Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris, which left 129 people dead and more than 300 wounded, the Anonymous activists want to be clear that they’ve been fighting this fight for some time.



But what does an online declaration of “war” really amount to?

“Cyberattacks can have a tremendous impact,” cyberwarfare expert David Gewirtz told CBS News. “Of course, they can’t be used to arrest people or take terrorists off the field, but they can certainly be used to compromise structural components of terrorist operations. More to the point, they can go after both the money that terrorists have and their funding sources. Damaging the money flow can certainly have an impact on the terrorists’ operations.”

According to top Hollywood publicist and crisis manager Howard Bragman, he was approached by people close to Sheen six months ago to deal with the crisis, but never dealt with him directly. “The interview could open up a lot of sympathy for him, but he has to be concerned about a fear of litigation from former sexual partners. “It’s been going on for quite awhile. He’s not necessarily comfortable talking about it. It was very hard to get up the courage for him to talk about it.”

“I’ve known about this a long time, it’s not a surprise to me,” says Bragman of the news (which was first reported by the National Enquirer). “I feel very sorry for his pain. And I hope it’s used as a teachable moment for the world. This is a disease that can affect anyone.”
The actor, 50, has long struggled with substance abuse and has admitted tosoliciting prostitutes in the past.

His volatile personal life was reportedly behind his public feud with Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre and subsequent departure from the CBS sitcom, and his unpredictable behavior has frequently been a wedge in hiscontentious relationship with ex-wife Denise Richards, the mother of his two daughters (he has twin boys with his third ex, Brooke Mueller).

In recent months, Sheen has seen many ups and downs, including his 50th birthday, both blowouts and celebrations with Richards, drug dependencyaccusations from his former Two and a Half Men costar Jon Cryer, a brief hospitalization from food poisoning and even a flirtation with a run for public office.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a popular Abuja socialite who is also a top official of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Dr (Mrs) Imaobong Akon Esu-Nte. The suspect, a Grade Level 14 Officer with the Federal Ministry of Finance seconded to the Nigerian Prison Service as Head, Capital Accounts, was picked up Tuesday May 6 by operatives of the anti graft agency. And for several hours, she was grilled by investigators over allegations bordering on corruption, abuse of office and money laundering.

EFCC officials said they received tip-off regarding the suspect’s lifestyle which was inconsistent with her position as a public servant on a monthly salary of N121, 460 ($751).

The suspect owns several exotic cars and properties scattered over the (Federal Capital Territory) Abuja. Among her properties is a palatial mansion, a duplex with two-bedroom Boys Quarters at Sun City Estate, Abuja and another duplex at Karu Extension, Abuja, which is nearing completion.

Three luxury automobiles were recovered from her at the time of arrest. They include a Mercedes Benz ML 350 4matic wagon, Mercedes Benz GL 500 SUV and a Toyota Sienna.


EFCC sources said Imaobong’s arrest was triggered by intelligence report on suspicious inflow of huge funds into her account with a new generation bank.

Close scrutiny of the account by investigators literally opened a can of worms, as it came to light that the suspect is the promoter and signatory to the accounts of three companies: Abasiaga Global Resources Limited, Abasiono Nigeria Limited and Ememima Global Ventures Limited, the companies were established after she was posted to the Nigerian Prison Service and all the directors are her children (Dr. Etsu Daniel, Eme Faith and Uwen David).

She is also the owner of two other companies- Darima Properties and ID Petroleum

The Police Special Fraud Unit (SFU) arraigned the publisher of Best of Nollywood magazine, Mr. Seun Oloketuyi at the Federal High Court in Lagos over a story that Fidelity Bank Managing Director, Nnamdi Okonkwo, impregnated a staff of the bank.
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday slammed a N3 million bail on a blogger
for allegedly publishing a defamatory item about the CEO of Fidelity Bank Plc, Mr Nnamdi Okonkwo.

The accused, Seun Oloketuyi, 39, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on defamation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused was arraigned by the Police Special Fraud Unit
and he pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Mohammed Yunusa, who gave the ruling, also granted the accused two credible sureties in like sum.

Yunusa said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused while the second surety must have
a landed property in Lagos.

He added that the sureties must swear to an affidavit of means while the sureties must be verified by the prosecutor.

He ordered that the accused should be remanded in Ikoyi Prisons pending when the bail conditions would be met and
adjourned the case to Nov. 4 for trial.

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is reported to have recently lambasted former President Goodluck Jonathan for lack of vision in the implementation of his policy on the railways. He said that the decision by that administration to rehabilitate the railway system, completed in 1903 to carry three million tonnes of goods, to meet today’s needs was not well thought through.

We agree with Obasanjo’s position that Jonathan lacked vision on the railways. This was evident with the contract bazaar that the railways under his watch became with huge sums wasted on contracts awarded to cronies and the bogus commissioning that turned Nigeria into a laughing stock in the world.

What is, however, galling is that it is Obasanjo that is calling Jonathan out on the railways. The same Obasanjo who would be aware that the World Bank had informed us that our railways only needed to move 1.5m tons per annum to be financially viable and sustainable as long as it was run by a competent private sector operator with a stake in the railway business.

The same Obasanjo who met a railway with 45,000 workers and left it with less than 7,000. A railway that moved 1.5m tons in 1998 before he came but which moved only 42,000 tons in 2006, his last full year. The same Obasanjo who refused to fund the railway in all the years he was President and who cancelled the $500m contract for the rehabilitation of the railways awarded by Abacha when it was near completion and after over $400m had been expended on it.


The same Obasanjo who in 1999 requested the development of a 25 year strategic vision for the railways and whose Transport Minister, Ojo Maduekwe, in April of 2002 in the forward to the report claimed that it could not be simply another report, not only because it was the first of its kind, but more importantly, because the awesome political will required to execute it was clearly evident in that administration.

The same Obasanjo who did nothing with this report for which his government had spent millions of dollars until the twilight of his administration in 2006, after he had failed to secure tenure elongation. What he did next was to award a huge so called modernisation contract for $8.3bn. A contract that was not in the 25 year vision but was in fact a departure from its provisions and recommendation.

The same Obasanjo who after awarding the contract refused to make the mandatory 25 per cent advance payment provided in the contract and to make matters worse, situated the project in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), an office that had no business with railways nor the capacity to manage such a project.

Surely, in our opinion, it cannot be the same Obasanjo who is querying another for lacking vision on the railways. How hypocritical can a former president be?
