All various types of the visit visas have been converted to standard visit visa so yes you can apply and state a hotel as your place of address this time. Mind you, you should have a hotel booking confirmed
Thank you so much giselle237.
I book the hotel and get a confirmation email before applying.
Thanks

Hello Everyone.
I need your help please. Is it possible to switch from a Family visit visa to another type of visa? I've been travelling to the UK with my wife on a Family visit visa, invited by my brother inlaw in the UK. 6 months,2 years (2×) visa. But this time around I would like to go on holiday with my wife and 3 children,so we won't be able to stay at my brother inlaw's. Looking to stay in a hotel. I'm planning to renew me and my wife's 2 years visas and apply a fresh application for our children. What other visa category can we switch to please? And if we switch,Will if be possible to renew the 2 years on another visa category?
Waiting for your reply please

Sorry, I am replying late. Like I said earlier, you don't need to send any document to nowhere. Go with the original document of everything, make (if possible coloured) photocopy of documents that are not in A4 or are have tears, print out pictures, screenshot of communication etc in A4 coloured preferably. Then at the TLS centre, they scan everything and return your original documents to you. That is all. Don't forget to cross check the list given to you to ascertain that all ur documents have been highlighted. Human error might be inevitable.

Thanks so much for your reply @olad2a.

@olad2a no I haven't been able to sort it out yet. Do you mean i don't have to sent the original documents to Sheffield, for an EEA family permit? After the first refusal we waited for 3 weeks and we still didn't get the documents back. So I reapplied and scanned all the documents at the TLS centre, and also sent copies to Sheffield, with a letter that they still have my original documents with them. I got an email a week later that the application is complicated and they won't be able to make the 15 working days. So 3 weeks later I received a decision has been made email. But on getting to TLS contact, My son's passport was returned without a decision. No visa issued or refusal letter. I called them the same day and on their system the application status is still in progress, they said a decision has not been made yet. The case has been escalated and I'm still waiting for their email. I called them today to know why I haven't gotten any reply and I was told they are still on it. I received my original documents back(For the first application)last week. I still don't know why the passport was sent back when the application is still in progress.

Hello, have you been able to sort this out? For an EEA family permit, you don't have to send document actually, in my experience, I just went with all my documents which were scanned at the TLS centre. In my opinion, I think that's why you experienced the whole documents ish.

Thanks a lot and God will relieve you. They will definitely reply you. You must DHL everything to Sheffield. They will only scan passport, application and TB Test certificate. Applicant is required to DHL all documents and self-addressed envelope to Sheffield and as at yesterday all our documents have been returned to my wife

Congratulations. I'm so happy for you,And thanks so much for your help.
I'm yet to receive a reply from the Sheffield email address you have me yesterday. Hopefully they reply me soon. One more question please. Should I take sponsor's documents to Ikeja for scanning before sending it back to Sheffield. Or they just need to scan my son's documents only. He is a minor ,so he doesn't have much to submit. Apart from DNA test result, TB test result, his school documents and birth certificate. I was confused maybe he was refused because I didn't submit any of sponsor's documents in Nigeria, I sent everything to Sheffield. Please really need your help on this before re-applying. Thanks

Funmijj3, Did you actually send with your initial application self-addressed envelope for them to return your document as they require from the spouse applicant? Alternatively, send an email to Sheffield (VisaShefield@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk)telling them your predicament that you wanted to reapply and this document is holding you back or reapply with the photocopies you have and writing a note that the original documents are with them. I do empathise with you and understand the emotional and the psychological trauma you are passing through. You will be relieved soon
JUST A SUGGESTION. I HOPE THIS HELPS.

Hello everyone. Please I need some help. I was advised here to make a fresh application instead of going thru appealing. MY problem now is that I haven't received my original documents yet from Sheffield. No email from Sheffield to confirm they got my documents and no email that my documents has been sent. MY question is, is it possible to make a fresh application now, since they still have my documents. Or should I wait till I get the documents back. Thanks

Hello everyone. I'm new here and I need some advice please. My son age 8 applied for an eea family members visa recently,And he was refused. He went to Ikeja to submit ,and I sent all original documents (pay slips,DNA test, employment letter, tenancy agreement, letter from landlord etc) to Sheffield the same day. To my surprise, I received an email exactly a week, that a decision has been made.
The refusal letter states the reason he was refused is because we didn't include evidence of employment in the UK. So they are not sure if I am exercising treaty rights in the uk. But everything is with them in Sheffield. They didn't even bother to check because the decision was made just 5 day after. He was given a right to appeal. Please does anyone know how long it takes to appeal or should I put in a fresh application?

@stillwaiting so sorry to hear about your experience. You must have gone through a lot.i pray everything works out in your favour. I will do as you've suggested as soon as I get my original documents back from Sheffield. Please do you have an idea on how long it takes to get it back.

Learn from my predicament. Experience is the best teacher. Appeal and reapply simultaneously. Read my ordeals here: ' After Thirteen months of appeal, since November 2015 I got NOTICE OF HEARING beginning of this month which was fixed for towards the end of May (17 months)'. For appeals, if not overturned, then one should be looking forward to two years. Pls, A burnt child dreads the fire.

Thank you so much for your help. I will make sure I put everything necessary this time around as you've said. I didn't know to appeal takes that long. And considering the BREXIT and all. Do you think going for an appeal will be the best or putting in another application. The application is free for an eea family member and it won't cost me anything. And please should I put a copy of the refusal letter in the new application? Thanks

Appeal these days takes a lot of time and patience. Waiting time can range from within 6 months to over 1 year. From what you said, It appears you have a strong case and it would be overturned in your favor before or during the appeal period. While appealing address the ERROR made by the ECO and any other areas you fill was'nt considered. If possible supply more evidence. On the other hand if you have the finance you can put in another application as it would save you time. I also recommend you read back through this trend and you'll be more enlightened as to how to go about appealing.......
