@sekinatmi, why not write GRE/GMAT and apply to schools in U.S that will guarantee u full funding till ur PhD sef? coz this 1st class in stats going to Germany might not really be the best sis, menial job dey but...ermmm..that degree will work wonders in U.S wit ur 1st class.. if U have a high score in GMAT, ul be guaranteed full funding in many schools in U.S and take ur kids along instead of Germany..

Try go for post grad like Machine Learning(really needed in states now, av little programming experience) coz in states with ur background in stats(hope u know how to use Octave, R, Matlab), im sure ur life will change oo..and I can bet my $100 on it..but if its cash constraint still do GMAT/GRE, apply whenever u r in Germany or start from now from Naija..apply to U.S skls..ul get funding sis, and ur kids will assimilate easily..

U av banking experience also;that surely fits well with stats..Permanent Residence(PR) in beautiful English speaking countries should not be ruled out also..Sister do ur homework and u will smile looking back at this.

Always have at least a day in a week to browse the web, gather info, form ur own opinion, check forums, ask(but dont take all suggestion coz person wey dey advice sometimes their IQ level is not even average oo..lol)

Hope you look into this

@DanIndia, well case closed, you have shared, I've shed more light on the info, so let the thread move on. ok..Nagode

when a program is not yet accredited or going through accreditation in German Uni's, they clearly state this and most times you will see asterik(***) beside such program. As for the Uni's being accredited, I can tell you all in Germany that you use to apply for a residence permit are accredited not your 70% assumption!

Enough of this, I bet you if you have that opportunity you'l be the first to jump at it . State what you know with facts(bring out evidence or data not presumption or assuming whatever!)

@DanIndia..pls stop this! please! your information is like someone picking up a headline without reading an article(click-bait).. Accreditation of programs in Germany is not like mushroom schools in India!..You are in India and dishing out all these misleading info. Stop it now! Germany is not like that.

Getting 2million naira for an average family to put in a block account is not easy!, also do you think its easy for someone to send the sponsorship letter(stand as your guarantor by earning 1,500 euros after tax monthly?) and here you are talking about something that you understand very little to nothing about. Stop it! and let the thread keep moving positively. k

justwise:

Why are you contradicting yourself? I politely explained to you couple of days ago why it's not good idea to drop contact details here and you just experienced one of the reasons I discouraged it but at the same time you want mods to allow people to keep dropping contact details here.

Talking about rules...we have 21 already here and peopke barely obey a single one of it. You don't need anybody to tell you that dropping your contact details in an open forum viewed by millions of people is a silly thing to do.

I encourage people to use nairaland email system as means of contact and by doing that you will avoid exposing your contact details for scammers to pick on AND you will also know who contacted you because his or her ID will show.

People seeing me as a dictator is number 99.9 in the list of my problems so give it a rest.

The mod does this for everyone's good..Make all conversations open, emailing or contacting one another outside here gives room for massive fraud coz people most times can twist anything which makes them not liable and after the victims come to blame Nairaland..Keep it open, any info u can get here or use other mediums to find urself. Emphasis on "urself" coz all info is online, just patience and understand the info provided.

99.9% of the time the mods are right! believe this or live to tale sorry tales!

@kunlelikeme..."and I am trying to transfer some credits from my HND from Nigeria. If I can successfully do that"...

@ ur quote is one of the options u have, it might be tough getting the course contents, credit hours etc from Nigerian institutions, but if u can pls do as German uni's will compare each course content and if satisfactory ul get exemptions..and easier also to transfer to other uni's..I must say I really like your resolve..really unrelenting.

Also, if ur poly finds it difficult to find the content but u remember wat u did in each course with credit hours, list them down from ur ND to HND, then tell whoever can help u pass it across to dept head in ur naija poly for stamp and signature..this is widely accepted also as our naija unis/poly's are slow sometimes in preparin course contents themselves.

av replied ur pm, its blank mostly, if not personal, lets keep it open on the forum as lotsssssss of people are learning from ur step..even those in Germo! lol

TheRoyalprince:

The school just changed their admission requirements starting from next year academic session. Congratulation to those that scale through before the new requirements. The new admission requirements states that you have to authenticate and legalize to your SSCE result from MOE and MOF, then to the embassy for verification and legalization (unlike before when you do all these after getting admission), so now it is before admission. Also, the English proficiency test required is either TOEFL or IELTS. I don't know how they use to evaluate English of SSCE and I have never had of that. May be you mail the school on such.

Il commend you on the info and it is 100% true..My cousins applied there before this new rules so U are right..More blessing..

I saw many of the guys here on the admission list..guys should comment more especially @demaej(d guy likes to ask update about everyone's life)
Now that he has gotten the admission, let others hear his own update. @demaej

[quote author=kunlelikeme ..na berlin or bremen or hamburg or baden wutterberg.

dont waste ur time on another bsc..Although u are already in it and not deceiving urself that things will sought itself, that ur spirit will make u overcome challenges.

for some tips-
Germany do not accept HND for masters no matter the UNI..

Try do a top up 1year degree or a post graduate diploma(PGD) ..(the cost comes to almost same in other countries..u might not kno this but the free in fee almost equates to limitations like the 240 half days a year maximum working period..which u can easily go over without knowin it.thereby violation but our naija mentality will say nothing dey happen but in reality its violation..dont go anywhere else in Europe..Czech? forget, jobs no too much!).

U can apply for a scholarship in U.S if ur grades are good and have GMAT/GRE..USA value ur Engineering degree especially if u can add some basic IT(coding) knowledge to it. Many schools accept HND and u can start to plan how to get scholarship..

Dont waste that degree!

HelloT:
@gadafitruth @moneybag100 It's a bit scary sha I'm having second thoughts... don't want to rush and have regrets later. I've mailed the rector cos he said I should mail him so he can now how many people have applied for the language program me before we proceed.

My advice is to start learning portugese in Naija right now, saves you money and helps when you land. Many schools are just transitioning to these English-taught programs just like Germany did in 2012, so more and more Uni's are opening up such programs.

Some will be opening up there portal by November for the 2015 winter session while others will start in February, there is still time, so gather all you need to succeed by learning Portuguese, try doing IELTS to know your English level(not necessary but helps you access yourself better)

Some English-taught program fees wont change and are not more than 1000 - 2500euros.. so that saves you money on exorbitant language course than you can use to fully settle down(even you will possibly leave Portugal in about a 1.5years or 2years, the best part is you have ECTS POINTS for subjects taken which makes you transfer to UNI's in EU region without losing any semester or year, you can also transfer outside the region with partner UNI's if you have the cash)

moneybag100:

Are you in Portugal also? Everything is going on fine and the only concern is the school don't reply emails.just wondering if embassy were to contact them and unable to get them... And worry About new admission letter stating February...and I don't think the 2500 euro is for 4 month language course... ...

I was once an exchange student there long time ago.. I do not need to be in Portugal to give you valuable info as I can see you are in a rush and it could be fatal when reality sets in.

Language program lasts for about 8 months minimum(so do you want to just learn Portuguese for that long for so much money?). You can use that 2500euros to pay for fees elsewhere in Portugal(English-taught programs) including accommodation for up to months.

Embassy goes by what you present to them, and when they need verification and contact school directly with no response, your application will be gathering dust at the table, until the school responds.. So be patient and choose wisely

@kunlelikeme i hail the essay was quite efficacious, I don't know if you are trying do direct entry or starting up again from year one, that what obfuscate me,the said hnd or 100 level transcript,is it for direct entry since m not planning to do one or just part of the requirement to be admitted into the school afresh?
if it part of the requirement then I can go register for NOUN and toefl test,i believe the deadline for the application form is july?
thanks a lot for ur contributions..

You will be starting afresh from 1st Year If you apply with Hnd thats why for me its just a waste of time since you can use your OND, Uni 1st Year transcripts or even do a PGD elsewhere instead of wasting another 3.5years in Germany unless your German is up to DAF level(require TestDaf). If You have age on your side though and burning to learn in an advanced nation then it makes perfect sense. But Emphasis on your German in the labor market plays a key role during and after studies.

Rhine-waal deadline for winter is July 15, Summer is January 15(its right there on the website). You will need 1st year Uni transcript or HND(they dont allow OND). Also IELTS or TOEFL is mandatory(check the required score on the website).

You can go to Cyprus, Portugal or Malaysia to do your 1st year Uni(if you doubt NOUN cert and in a rush).. Those countries public Uni's have moderate fees and you can meet up winter 2015 also..These are just my opinions(weigh your options and know whats best for you)

@gadafitruth greetings,as i ave said,i dont know if it for direct entry or the opposite,u said there are about 7 in total that accept a O'level + OND from Nigeria.can you plz list them here for other others to benefit as well as me?
my course is mechanical eng..
i will email the school right away, cant believe i lost sense of that.
thanks a lot for ur candid contributionz

You can do the search then bring it on here so we can always share with the house.

Also, since you are probably free now, why not you learn German at Goethe institute in Lagos, pass up to B1 - B2 before 2015 winter and apply for a Studienkolleg this will make you perfect your German skills the 1 year you will be there and saves you lots of headache. At the same time you can be applying to English-taught programs at some Uni's, then you have options.

Brother, I promise i will not quote you (ah! am sorry I just did, grin) lol this guy, u be case. Na just joke naa
Some people are not as lucky as your younger ones. I know someone who came back to confess his numerous failure after much advise against applying through OND and do many people like that. pls dont do that. Let them spend as much time, they will surely find.
Them research research but dem no find.
As I said, #1. Eliminate all schools under Uni-Assist, #2. Go through all 16 federal states in Germany and search each Uni there that are not part of Uni-Assist and have English-taught programs #3. About Three of these Uni's are in Eastern states.

When You do the elimination , You will be left with few, then let the person who wants to study do the maths.

Also, remember to have a detailed course outline of all areas covered in each course passed in the OND #very important

researchQ:

Please attend to my question. is it that the person is qualified to be a sponsor if 1) 1,500 euro is left after tax deducted from his salary or
2) even if it is exactly 1,500 euros he earns then if tax is deducted his final pay left with him is less than 1,500...can he still qualify to be a sponsor? because he works only 5 hours right now cos he has no responsibilities yet.
Oga Eke, Kelly and co. help needed

When he goes to get the letter at the council, if he is eligible for such with less than 1,500 euro after tax, he will be given, if not then no. His earning s from what you stated above is around that figure even minus tax, so you he should be fine.

Pls dont quote me..if you misunderstood me then move on..lol.. on a more serious note I can bring out some post by some of the old members but seems no one was really taking note then, I believe anyone going to study overseas especially a place like Germany(independent research and study is what is done in Germany) start the research and at the end of the day you will be fulfilled as you will not be obliged to thank anyone but your God, and nairaland. its not about me holding any info, its about the people who need it to start doing their search right away.

Tip as you said is to take out all Uni's under Uni assist, that leaves you with few that run programs in english.

@Gadafith,u can be very right o,I am not disputing those facts, pls give us the school names so that people with ond and o'level can benefit ...thank you so much for the eye opener.

I wont do that as I have seen few old members of the thread guard this info with some codes, so I have deciphered enough, it now remains each individual to make his/her own findings...An old member of this thread likes to use, people should run their race, not together with anyone so a OND holder should be able to dedicate at least few hours to browse(on tablet but preferably PC) and all info they need is right there staring them in the face.

Dont crucify the post but I believe people running their own race wont make applications to such institutions over the roof. So pls start the search coz the info is there.
Travel / Re: Anyone Studying In Portugal!!!! by gadafitruth: 8:19am On Oct 20, 2014
@moneybag and helloT, You guys should not rush things as I see you do not know what you are getting yourself into yet, 2500euros for a language course and the Uni unresponsive mail reply should indicate that something is not really right(although its not all wrong).

There are many Uni's in Portugal that their studies are in english and they reply their mail within 24hours.. I have been through this route before so pls calm down and apply to somewhere communication is between Yourself and the institution. No third party either paid or free coz thats the bedrock of easing the tensions of any mistake during program application, visa/permit application, and school enrollment.

Eventhough some Portugese Uni's are jacking up their fees, so also some raise fees and communicating with them is fluid. Many will want you believe that all Uni's in Portugal will do that; the answer is not all and not most but some only. So dont be alarmed

Do the search my people, its not rocket science to see requirement and make enquiries on things you are not clear of(not something already stated on their website)

Bottomline is go to Uni that you have communication with so you do not burn your money on fees you wont even be able to explain how they came about.
Travel / Re: German Embassy And Visa by gadafitruth: 8:04am On Oct 20, 2014
@kuzee.. I want inform you that your OND is enough to get you admission into some German Universities. The big secret is None under Uni-Assist but through individual Uni's that accept admissions directly. They are about 7 in total that accept a O'level + OND from Nigeria. I have my facts since 2 of my younger bro's are studying there.

Try as much as possible to dedicate time to search using daad.de and also through each state universities. All info you need is at your finger tips, you do not need to budge to the norm and normal saying of OND is not enough. Believe me one of the 2nd generation(last quarter of 2012 set) members know about this info that few know of..so my brother start the search, email, contact the skls directly.. if u are not clear come back here and ask questions; that will benefit others also.

goodluck

wow! my 1st comment though av been on here even before it metamorphosed into Nairaland
