GAPPLE:
Visa Approved today May 27.
Abuja Embassy
F1 & F2.
We just had our registry 3 days ago.
It was sweet.

Please I'd try to get transcript from hubby to post later because he is the F1.

My dear UmmZayd, BunmiBie, I just want to say thank you to you duo specially. Thank you everyone. I am indeed grateful.

Make I calm down wella. I go come back come post transcript.

First of, I want to apologize for taking this long to post our transcript, we just had our traditional wedding and ceremony last Saturday. So it's been quite demanding.
Since we only had our registry which declared us a couple before we went for our interview.

F1 & F2 Visa Approval
May 27
Abuja
Fine white bald man

N.B. : I am the F2(my first attempt), hubby is the F1(his second attempt, first attempt for MSc, second for renewal of visa for continuation of his PhD)

VO: Have you traveled out of the country before?

F1: Yes

VO: What about you?

F2: No?

VO to F1: Where did you go?

F1: He first answered for "when"(apparently didn't hear the VO actually asked for "where"wink
Omaha for my masters studies.

VO: Okay, you had some research work?

F1: Yes, I did and published my thesis as well.

VO: I'm thinking your relationship with her(me), is she your spouse?

F1: Yes, she is my spouse

VO: How long have you been married?

F1: We got married 3 days ago (we just had our registry wedding 3 days ago because he just got back to 9ja less than a week ago)

VO: (nods head, I leaned towards husbandman to ask him if no need to show the Vo our evidence of marriage, he said no)

I see you have enough funding to cover for you and your spouse.

F1: Yes, I do

VO to me: what do you do?

Me: I currently work as a volunteer staff at "my ppa: where I recently completed my NYSC. I am on the project management team whose aim is to organise educational programs for indigenous teenage girls.
( Vo kept nodding head, stopped at "girls", wasn't sure if I should add the number of teenage girls I've been able to influence positively )

And then the VO faced F1, asked about his course of study.

VO to F1: (checked through his i20) I see you already started your program

F1: Yes

VO to F1: What's your research area?

F1: discussed it at length

VO to F2: You will be with him all through the period of his study right?

Me: Yes.

Thats how he held our passports and gave us white paper oo.

It was like movie.

NB: We actually thought we were the first to get to the embassy on Friday, not knowing there's another entrance, which is even the main entrance because most people went in through there.

We lodged at Olympia Hotel so we left few minutes to 6, trekked to the embassy. Our interview was scheduled for 8am.
We wanted to be the first set to be interviewed.

Did screening and all.

We had our registry on Tuesday, went with our registry certificate, printed two of the pictures we had before husbandman(F1) went for his graduate studies(3 years ago). Went with pictures taken at registry.

None was checked, not even marriage certificate.

I just want to say
1. We found God's favour, honestly nothing more matters than this
2. We were only asked from the questions we practised, only additional one was what F1's research work is about.
3. We met with the fine bald American man
4. Read Nairaland back to back, asked questions and practised with people's transcript.
5. Imho, there is no one size fits all(especially with dressing, some were on slippers, I think what matters most is being comfortable in whatever you choose to wear)
6. Do your part, it's not easy to be calm honestly but try to be calm, say your words well
7. No deficit, funding covered for all with excess
8. Husbandman explained himself well
9. I did too for the 1½ question asked me.

Thank you Nairaland. Should anyone have any question feel free to quote me here. Peace!

Where can I find it in my passport booklet?

BunmiBie:

Thanks to God for his kindness and grace
All these happened in less than 2 minutes.

1. Fill your DS160 yourself, be as detailed as possible
2. Get your story straight, if your story doesn't sound believable to you, you won't be able to convince the VO.
3. Watch you-tube videos from ARGO VISA, this really helped a lot.
4. Lastly, PRAY.

Congratulations

Thanks a lot mama. Detailed. I appreciate.

1. The F1 spouse is likely covered by health insurance. Read this, call the insurance company and let them know of your birthing plans. They will advice you on what to do. You may even get a few things for free.

For both of our profiles, each of us is added as family members in each profile

Thank you.

If they applied together, meaning on the cgi portal, they have only one profile, where F1 is principal applicant and F2 is added to profile as “Family Member”, then yes…every action affects both

Hello house!

For F1 and F2 that apply together for visa interview. Does F1 applying for Emergency Appointment also apply to F2?

I mean, when F1's EA date is granted, will F2 also be given same date as the EA date given to F1?

Thanks for always.

Hello house,
Well done bosses.

I would like to know any recommendations from any angle for F2 dependant that may likely get pregnant in the USA(first time pregnancy btw)

Like:
1) What should she put in place?

2) How to know a black friendly hospital to use?

3) How much to budget from antenatal to delivery

4) Any insurance/discount?

5) Any general suggestions

Thanks in anticipation of your responses, God bless.

Oh wow!
Thank you, thank you. So much insights.
I appreciate always boss.

UmmZayd:

If you will be married before interview, then you can state that in the DS160. Don't forget you can also update the form 72 hrs before interview so take your time.
Get the wedding album or some pictures just in case the VO ask for it. And he/she may ask if it's a love or arranged marriage. Most people go for arranged marriage. At first I didn't see the advantages of this but looking at it from another angle I see why most indians especially say arranged. If it's an arranged marriage then you both need the time to get to know each other.

Congratulations.
However, if it's possible to do the interview after wedding, it's better but if not, before wedding is good. Please make sure you have something tangible that will make you go to US and come back next 2weeks to take care of. That will serve as a good home ties

Best of luck.

Thank you UmmZayd for always.
It seems I didn't put out my question well.

Can we apply/register for Visa as married before our wedding date BUT we would have been married before we go for the interview?

Is there any problems with that?
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by GAPPLE: 4:54pm On Feb 03, 2022
Good day house.
Please I need to verify this.

My fiance in the USA on F1 visa is coming to renew his visa this year, also coming for our wedding, and wants to file for F2 visa for me also.

He said he can get F2 i20 for me before our wedding.

Can we register for our visas before our wedding?

We plan on going for our interview together

Thank you so much boss. This means a lot.

gbarinze:
If you're applying together, they may likely not ask you anything. All the questions will be directed to him. In any case, it's always a red flag to tell the VO you're doing nothing. If however you're asked (or he is asked) why you're going with him, it should be that you'll be briefly there to help him settle down and also have your honeymoon together, then return to Nigeria to continue your compulsory NYSC program.

Hmmn. Thanks boss. I could stay back. It's two months after my NYSC. So that could serve as home tie on my part right?
I appreciate.

UmmZayd:

How long far apart? I mean what's the space between when you finish your service and the interview date? If it's up to a month or 2, still remain at your PPA till then (if it's convenient) or find a job that covers the gap. Anything just in case but I hope you just go to appear for the interview and not asked any questions if everything is good from the F1 side.

Best of luck

Hello Lionize,
Can you suggest any hotel nearby the Abuja Embassy, coming from another state in SouthWest.

Also what should I budget and can two people be allowed in a room?

It may not be wrong but it may not add to anything.
Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by GAPPLE: 1:08pm On Jan 29, 2022
Thanks boss. We are applying together.

I would have been done with my NYSC before we go for the interview.

Do you mean I can still claim I am a serving corp member?

Thanks

gbarinze:
If you'll not be going for the interview with him, like you guys are not applying together...I'll advice you tell them that you're still serving and make sure you also have that fact covered in your DS-160.

Travel / Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by GAPPLE: 1:05pm On Jan 29, 2022
Thanks UmmZayd. We are applying together.
I just want to know incase the VO asks what work I do.

Because I would have been done with my NYSC before we go for the interview.

UmmZayd:

Yes both of you should return together. It's better. If you're both applying together it's possible the VO doesn't even ask you any questions.

Best of luck
