Wow!

Any responsible God fearing husband will pay for at least half the bill.

The epidural probably saved your life and allowed you to conceive.

You need to raise the issue with his family because if unsolved, it will cause bigger problems later in your marriage.

One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Religion / Re: What Does It Mean To "Sin Wilfully" In Hebrews 10:26? - Prince Gabriel Okocha by Gatsby(m): 2:57pm On Jan 26, 2020
And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. They prove the truth of this proverb: “A dog returns to its vomit.” And another says, “A washed pig returns to the mud.”

For it is impossible to bring back to repentance those who were once enlightened—those who have experienced the good things of heaven and shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the power of the age to come— and who then turn away from God. It is impossible to bring such people back to repentance; by rejecting the Son of God, they themselves are nailing him to the cross once again and holding him up to public shame.

Obama, simply because Romney keeps shifting his position on so many issues.

We don't really know where he stands and undoubtedly, he will show his true color if he wins.

Romney thinks that it is fair to pay 14% tax and I dare suggest that his earlier tax returns were below 10%.

The Republicans vowed to make Obama a one-term president from day one and have made his tenure very difficult.

In spite of this, the economy is better than when Bush reigned.

Obama is good but not great.

Romney does not care about the middle class. He made money by buying companies and cutting cost (payroll/jobs) to become profitable.

People are numbers to him. So he can cut them loose without losing sleep.

That is why he does not mind making the lives of millions of immigrants so difficult that they will "self deport".

The man simply lacks compassion!

If Obama wins, it is simply because God allows it.

Politics / Blacks Cannot Rule Over Themselves (by An Afrikaner) by Gatsby(m): 2:13am On Jun 22, 2012
Speech made by former S/A President P.W. Botha to his Cabinet. It was reprinted by David G. Mailu for the Sunday Times, a S/A newspaper, on 18, 1985.

....We are not obliged even the least to try to prove to anybody & to the Blacks that we are superior people. We have demonstrated that to the Blacks in 1001 ways. The Republic of S/A that we know of today has not been created by wishful thinking. We have created it at the expense of intelligence, sweat and blood......

We do not pretend like other Whites that we like Blacks. The fact that, Blacks look like human beings & act like human beings do not necessarily make them sensible human beings.

Hedgehogs are not porcupines & lizards are not crocodiles simply because they look alike. If God wanted us to be equal to the Blacks, he would have created us all of a uniform colour & intellect. But he created us differently: Whites, Blacks, Yellow, Rulers & the ruled. Intellectually, we are superior to the Blacks; that has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt over the years.

I believe that the Afrikaner is an honest, God fearing person, who has demonstrated practically the right way of being......

By now every one of us has seen it practically that the Blacks cannot rule themselves.

Give them guns & they will kill each other. They are good in nothing else but making noise, dancing, marrying many wives & indulging in sex.

Let us all accept that the Black man is the symbol of poverty, mental inferiority, laziness and emotional incompetence.

Isn't it plausible? therefore that the White man is created to rule the Black man.......And here is a creature( black man) that lacks foresight....The average Black does not plan his life beyond a year..

…….. What are your thoughts?

I believe that we have seen some African and Caribbean countries make good progress over the past twenty years. For example, Ghana, Botswana and The Bahamas.

Unfortunately, there are too many examples of Black nations where progress has retrogressed!

If we get our act together, then we do not need to endure insults like the above.

God help us all! Aluta continua!
Religion / Anarchy In Nigeria by Gatsby(m): 2:01am On Jun 22, 2012
By Leonard Karshima Shilgba

I have seen that there is no leader over Nigeria, so what should the people do?

The people of Israel had a similar experience thousands of years ago, when there was no leader in Israel, and so every man did what was right in their eyes.

Boko Haram group struck some churches in Kaduna state on Sunday, June 17, 2012. Ah, this time, the victims or the aggrieved struck back at symbols which, in their opinion, most closely represented the aggressor, Boko Haram. The word that has popped up now is “reprisals”. Now, a new dimension has been introduced into the crisis of bombings in Nigeria.

It is my consistent position that if the leadership fails to provide security to life and property and welfare for the people, then the people do not owe it loyalty; such leadership has compromised its purpose. For a long time Nigerians have suffered as the Jonathan government looked on helplessly as Boko Haram continued to kill innocent Nigerians and desecrate Christian places of worship, killing even women and children.

The new dimension of reprisal attacks against Boko Haram provocations has sent across a poignant message that the people have now decided to fight for their safety and honor because the government has failed them. It is only an indicator that the Nigerian government has lost respect, integrity, and the confidence of the people. I saw war in Nigeria before that Sunday of reprisals; it was a deadly experience. The future of Nigeria can be guaranteed by the removal of the current Nigerian leadership and convocation of a sovereign national conference. This removal may come either constitutionally (via impeachment of the president and his deputy) or by a forceful overthrow by a group of patriots who can only be welcome if immediately after doing so, shall surrender Nigeria to her people for a sovereign national conference. The safety and future of Nigeria is greater than the political ambition of one man or his people.

President Jonathan lacks both the moral and mental capacity to lead Nigeria. In truth, he is not leading. The biblical David testified that when a lion and bear came and took one of his sheep, he went after them and smote them. Nigerians are being killed weekly and the president is helpless. I wonder how he manages to sleep with this obvious self-conviction that he has failed the people he should protect; he has not gone after the lions and bears. What other definition of failure of leadership do we seek other than that the shepherd has not gone to look for that one lamb that is lost? When the senate president, David Mark said after the Sunday reprisals that they (“leaders”) would “continue to appeal to people who are responsible [for the spate of violence in Nigeria]” to desist, it further confirmed that we have no leader. Leaders don’t “appeal” to criminals; they apprehend and punish them. What is the use of a country if its leaders can’t defend the people? Why does President Jonathan lack moral authority to lead? When officials in Jonathan’s government could not answer the simple question on who approved the extra budgetary expenditure on fuel subsidy payments in 2011, Jonathan did nothing. When the fuel subsidy probe exposed to all Nigerians the apparent collaboration of government officials in the fuel subsidy fraud, the president did nothing. The president himself has been directly accused of acts that threatened Nigeria’s security (Refer to Henry Okah’s affidavit sworn to in a South African court this year). The president himself has openly confessed that he has Boko haram members in his government. Does Jonathan lack the power to sack any government official working in the executive arm of government? President Jonathan’s security adviser openly accused Jonathan’s party of being responsible for the monster called Boko Haram. Impunity is an appropriate word that can be used to describe the actions or inactions of Jonathan’s government.

President Jonathan lacks the mental or intellectual dexterity required to lead because he has run out of ideas to maintain security in the land. I should believe that he himself would be bored by any more condolences to victims of Boko Haram attacks. He has no inspiring words for the people of Nigeria. The last time he addressed the nation, he made such terrible pronouncement that threw the University of Lagos students into the streets, leading to a two-week shut-down of that university. Whenever formal leadership fails, informal leadership is the result. When people feel endangered and there is no help from their formal leaders, they would quickly accept informal leadership that could provide some succour. President Jonathan is insidiously ceding leadership to informal leaders. Should Nigerians wait until more reprisals against perceived and real aggressive actions become so common; what happened in Kaduna only reveals a new way of responding to Boko Haram by the victims. It is not right to call on Christians to leave “vengeance to God.” What happened in Kaduna on that “reprisal Sunday” was a message, harbinger of the deadlier days that lie ahead. Christians in Nigeria, who are at the war front without any protection from the Jonathan government, would be acting in self-annihilation if they do nothing (just like the Jonathan government) and watch their children, wives, and relatives killed every week simply because they have gone to their worship centers to worship. It should not be surprising if they carry guns and other weapons of defence to their churches every week. The response of President Jonathan would determine the next course of action.

When Nehemiah went to re-build the walls of Jerusalem, he and his people faced constant opposition and danger even to their lives. What did they do in such circumstance when they had only them to protect themselves? They went to work with weapons. While they built the walls, they also watched out for the adversary. This will happen in Nigeria should the Jonathan government continue to look on helplessly as the same pattern of attacks continue weekly against the church. What we are caught in is a war. In war, anything is fair. It is only disgusting if the adversary (Boko Haram) threatens to continue attacking Christians and killing even women and children until Christians in Nigeria become Muslims. This is utter nonsense! And if the Nigerian government refrains from stopping this, then even the moderate Christians will find it difficult to restrain reprisal attacks. But I see anarchy because President Jonathan is either incompetent or cowardly. Recent Judicial pronouncements also threaten anarchy in Nigeria. When the Supreme Court of Nigeria says that the principle of fair hearing in the Nigerian constitution does not keep in abeyance the 180 day-limitation on electoral litigation, and so a litigant “can go to hell” even though his claims have not been duly heard because of deliberate delays occasioned by the respondent, it makes a statement that in 2015 the courts may not be relied upon for determination of electoral disputes. When the Supreme Court bears no compunction upon its soul even as it interprets the constitution in a way that undercuts justice (fair hearing), it has sent out a strong message that it ceases to be the ultimate temple of justice in Nigeria; anarchy is the result.

The Nigerian legislature is presently enmeshed in one scandal and another, with one of its members facing prosecution for his involvement with Boko Haram. A former president recently referred to the legislature in Nigeria (both at the state and national levels) as a gathering of rogues and robbers. The integrity of this arm of government has been rubbished by this spate of scandals—fuel subsidy probe scandal, pension fund probe scandal, capital market probe scandal, and the electricity expenditure probe scandal. Although there have been no definitive judicial convictions in any of those scandals, the image of the legislature has not been helped by them. Therefore, the executive, judicial, and legislative arms of the PDP-led government have only acted to create a state of anarchy in Nigeria. We the people are left with one option—the creation of informal leadership for self-protection and survival in this state of anarchy.

NYSC / Re: NYSC Members Shun Work Over Unpaid April Allowances by Gatsby(m): 1:30pm On May 15, 2012
Nigeria Is Cash-Strapped, Can't Pay Monthly State Allocations And NYSC Allowances!

Sources in several state governments as well as the Federal Ministry of Finance have disclosed to SaharaReporters that Nigeria’s cash flow woes appear to be worsening. For the second month in a row, the Nigerian government was unable to meet the schedule for disbursing monthly allocations from the federation account to states.

Our sources accused President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration of depleting the country’s foreign reserves and recklessly overspending budgeted funds.
One source revealed that the Federal Ministry of Finance has paid March monthly allocations only to some states. The allocations for April and May 2012 remain unpaid. As a result of what some of the sources described as a major cash flow crisis, many civil servants and National Youth Corps members have yet to receive their April salaries or allowances.
In addition, the meeting of the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) has been postponed indefinitely after the secretariat said the earlier meeting scheduled for today and tomorrow was no longer feasible. SaharaReporters obtained a text message announcing the cancellation of the meeting. Sent by Philip K. Angulu, the terse message apologized to recipients for any inconveniences caused by the postponement.

SaharaReporters learnt that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has not been able to make regular payments to the federation accounts as oil marketers and corporation are now deducting their share of profit in offshore accounts to avoid dealing with local bureaucratic bottlenecks.

A source within the Presidency described Mr. Jonathan as a confused pawn in the hands of members of his security team who manipulate him to approve huge “security votes” for the so-called fight against terrorism. “Many of the president’s security advisers just keep deceiving him into releasing more and more cash to them – and they have nothing to show for it,” said the source.

Another source in the Central Bank told SaharaReporters that fuel marketers continue to defraud Nigerians with undocumented and fraudulent claims. “As we speak, I can tell you that the government has virtually spent this year’s budget for fuel subsidies – and we are only in the middle of May,” said the source. He added, “Nigerians are calling on President Jonathan to prosecute those who committed fraud in collecting fuel subsidies in the past. They don’t know that the fraud has actually increased this year.”
One of our sources accused Christopher Kolade, the chairman of the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment (SURE) Committee, of deliberately misleading Nigerians when he claimed that N60 billion has been saved for the implementation of the phantom palliative program put in place by Mr. Jonathan’s government to pacify Nigerians who thronged the streets of Nigerian and foreign cities in January to protest the removal of fuel subsidy. “Dr. Kolade knows that no such fund exists,” said the source, a ranking official in the federal government.

If you are a Christian, I highly recommend visiting Israel.

My wife and I visited in June 2011, with Dr. Myles Munroe from The Bahamas.

We were 114 in the group, from 18 countries. NIG, US, UK, SA, NZ, PNG, AUS, Curacao, Bahamas, Trinidad & Tobago, Ivory Coast etc.

It was a 10 day tour. We spent 8 days in Jerusalem and 2 days in Tiberias by the Sea of Galilee.

It was simply the best trip of our lives.

Dr. Munroe is a renowned teacher of the Bible and we had wonderful scriptural teachings as we visited each historic site.

We visited Mount Carmel, where Elijah called down fire and killed 450 prophets of Baal.

Can you imagine singing the song “The Lord that answereth by fire, Let Him be My God!” on Mount Carmel!
Simply priceless!

We drove by the Golan heights. ( I kept my eyes wide open for Syrian soldiers).
We took a boat tour on the Sea of Galilee.

We had marriage renewals (surprise) in a chapel near where Jesus performed His first miracle (at a wedding!)

We swam in the Dead Sea and were baptized in River Jordan.

We prayed at the wailing wall and the Garden of Gethsemane.

We walked through the “Via Delrosa” (Way of the Cross). The last path that Jesus carried the cross.

We had communion at the Garden of the Tomb.

Israel is beautiful with its undulating hills and dessert landscape.

It is amazing the harvest that they get through micro-irrigation in near-dessert conditions.

Their food (kosher) is very healthy.

Strange, though, that on Saturday (Sabbath) everything shuts down.

The Bible came alive.
It is like walking through the annals of history.
It is a trip that I will never forget in my life.

We plan to visit Israel every 5 years.

Shalom!

I just completed a 7 day cruise with my wife on Celebrity Eclipse (March 2012).
We are based in Houston, TX and flew to Miami FL.

It was our 6th cruise and probably the best.
We normally travel with our children or friends but this time we went solo.

We visited San Juan, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. The weather was gorgeous.
The food and service on the cruise was exceptional but the shows not as good as carnival or Royal Carribbean.

I highly recommend cruising as it relaxes you completely.

Last year we visited London, Dubai, Israel , Athens, Crete and of course Lagos.

The best airline for me is Emirates as they have raised the bar.
British Airways is so arrogant. They charge the highest, yet their service is nothing to write home about.

The best American airline for me is Southwest and then Continental.
Southwest allows 2 bags and allow you to cancel flight and rebook without any charges.

Actually in July, we are doing another cruise, from Houston to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

We are expecting a crew of 40 peeps. Over 20 from Lagos.

Should be a blast.
