Politics / Re: Oby Ezekwesili Replies CNBC's Tweet That Aruma Oteh Is The 1st African VP Of WB by gbemi12(m): 8:50am On Jul 25, 2015
I am not exactly sure why this guy has been receiving criticisms from a number of people on this thread just because he made a valid point. I am even more surprised by the level of sheer ignorance that is displayed at times by some respected international media outlets. For me, I am indifferent to the persons of Aruma oteh and Oby. I am just trying lay out the facts here. There are currently more than 20 Vice presidents in the World Bank handling different responsibilities and both Vice president, Africa and Vice President & Treasurer are included. See below:

Vice President, World Bank Group Human Resources Sean McGrath

Vice President, Leadership, Learning, and Innovation Sanjay Pradhan

Vice President, World Bank Group External and Corporate Relations Cyril Muller

Vice President, Global Practices and Cross-Cutting Solutions Keith Hansen

Vice President, Global Practices and Cross-Cutting Solutions Nena Stoiljkovic

Vice President, Budget, Performance Review, and Strategic Planning Pedro Alba

Vice President, Development Finance Joachim von Amsberg

Acting Vice President and Treasurer Doris Herrera-Pol

Vice President, Africa Makhtar Diop

Vice President, South Asia Annette Dixon

Vice President, Latin America and Caribbean Jorge Familiar Calderon

World Bank Group Chief Information Officer and Vice President, Information and Technology Solutions Stephanie von Friedeburg

CNBC is a dumb group of fools

Saying Oby was VP of African Region and not world bank shows how dumb they are.

Is African Region a company on its own?

For crying out loud, there are a number of VPs in world bank with different departments.

Oby was world bank VP (African Region)
Otteh is World bank VP (Treasury)

I mean...what is so hard to understand?

Excellent thoughts! Let me add this:

“Let Them Go”
By T. D. Jakes
There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you, let them walk. I don’t want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean, hang up the phone.
When people can walk away from you, let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody who left. The Bible said that they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19] People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can’t make them stay.
Let them go.
It doesn’t mean that they are a bad person; it just means that their part in the story is over. And you’ve got to know when peoples’ part in your story is over so that you don’t keep trying to raise the dead. You’ve got to know when it’s dead.
You’ve got to know when it’s over. Let me tell you something. I’ve got the gift of good-bye. It’s the tenth spiritual gift. I believe in good-bye. It’s not that I’m hateful, it’s that I’m faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He’ll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don’t need it. Stop begging people to stay.
Let them go!

For guys: If a lady doesn't really feel you and you have noticed, plssss just let her go. It will almost certainly have a bad ending and I am very sure that the guy will notice that the lady isn't really interested. And no matter who you become or what you achieve, she'll most likely not suddenly fall in love with you....she can only play along for her selfish interests. We humans crave for relationship because we feel lonely or because we want to be loved and appreciated.....but when you get yourself into this kind of mess, your life just becomes a nightmare and that loneliness glares at you every minute of your life even though you are married. its just better to be alone than to get into this kind of mess. An Uncle of mine got out something similar after five solid years. I couldn't hold back my tears when he told me the story....In situations like these, women can be evil!

Yea....I remember that old movie "Out of Bounds" which she did with RMD. Don't mess with my Tutu.... smiley
Politics / Re: I’ll Make Naira Equal In Value To Dollar, Says Buhari by gbemi12(m): 11:43pm On Mar 23, 2015
Ok. So let us assume that such an event happens overnight without a drastic change in productivity or a massive drop in real wages.

An average Nigerian Banker makes around #150,000 per month. Skills wise, this guy might be comparable to a guy making $3000 in the US
So 1 USD suddenly becomes #1 and this banker's productivity and salary stays the same but his salary becomes equal to $150,000. Before he is happy with his paycheck and go on to buy the latest car in town, a few things change.

Why would the bank pay him $150,000 when they can get someone for $3000 in the US? Of course they would not. So, every Nigerian –Bankers, engineers, teachers, accountants e.t.c - would be fired from their jobs and jobs would move out of the country as workforce is cheaper outside Nigeria. Where you cannot move the job outside the country (such as cleaning), companies would find tech. An awesome robotic vacuum cleaner worth $1000 would be used rather than the $30,000 per-month for human cleaner. As people get removed from the jobs, plenty of other jobs that rely on them (restaurants, cafes, retail shops, tourism, airlines...)....all vanish.

As people get fired, they will be ready to work for lower and lower salaries, until their salary drops below the international level of say $1,600. Since 1 USD = 1#, that would make great bankers make #1,600 per-month. How would they pay their outstanding loans and other financial obligations like instalment on cars for example. They cannot and they would default.

The banks would have huge unpaid loans and they will go bankrupt. Investors would exit and government would have print a lot of money to keep the banks alive. That would spike up the inflation and push down the naira so much that the rate might become #900 = 1 USD. At that point, the wage in Nigeria will be so low that jobs will move back again and the cycle would continue.

So in summary, it will just be a Nightmare and if anyone has said he’s gonna make that happen, I don’t know what the person was thinking.

Health / Re: HELP PLS...Very Hot And Badbreath Coming Out From My Nose.. by gbemi12(m): 8:48am On Mar 15, 2015
Hi. Please see below.

A similar problem from someone: I have been suffering from a really horrible smell coming from my nostrils and if i sniffed i could also taste it..i tried actifed tablets and cattarh caspules but after a week it was still there..as if i had bad breath but instead of coming from my mouth it was coming from my nose..very embaressing as I work with customers every day and was sure they could smell it too. So I went to the doctor and he gave me a nasal cream called Naseptin and some tablets called Erythromycin. After only a day of using these the smell has gone! So there is a cure out there...its just finding the right one..now i dont know if its the cream that works or the tablets or both together but im just glad its gone. I have to finish the course tho. I was told that the smell was caused by bacteria that lives in the nose which had got infected. Hope this helps. N:B-I got it from the link below. You can check further to see other discussions and solutions regarding this.

Smartestelvis:
Dear Nairalanders i need ur help...From 2011,i started having a strange air coming out from my nose.its very hot and it smells like burning rubber i was teriffied and i went to see a doctor who presumed it was a sinus infection so he prescribed some antibiotics for me.But none of the pills worked and it kept getting worse by the day.i kept going from one clinic to the other, some doctors even went as far telling me its malaria and typhoid, which i took every desired treatment but nothing worked.

Its now worse that anywhere i sit now smells like someone farted or like its a toilet place,it gets worse when i eat a proteinous food.Everyone around me keep coughing, sneezing, spiting and all sorts of attitude to show disgust and i dont blame them for that coz when i persive it myself i feel like vomiting. It smells so far that even 100metres away you can persive the strong odour ouzing out from my nose..people have called me all sort of names, some say i dont bath, some that knows my hygiene practices say i dont bath well enought but i myself knows what the problem really is.....

The moment i breath out through my nose i just notice this kind of reaction from people around like when someone just farted...It sometimes gets worse to a point where it causes a heavy wind to be blowing around the environment.i got sacked from my work place because of this problem even though they had to make up another excuse for it...i now stay indoors 24hrs everyday coz i have had enough insults and ambarrassments from ppl around.....pls no one should mention things like me having cartahh, fever, malaria, not brushing n bathing, coz i do those things more than most clean people i know....Any resousefull contrubution is welcome n pls excuse my grammar n long writeup,i'm just despirate for a cure so i can go back to my normal life.i have made sucide attempts twice but my faith for a cure one day is wot keeps me going and i pray n hope i dont attempt a third one..thanks

Judgmentalness you say? It's quite imprudent for anyone not familiar with that environment to be out at that time of the morning so this is not a moral justification. Even if he had gone to the church, it wouldn't still make his action right. I hope he he safe tho.

Education / Nigerian Maths Progidy, Esther Okade, Aged 10 Enrols On A Degree Course by gbemi12(m): 5:32pm On Feb 25, 2015
Esther Okade, from Walsall, is finding time between playing with her dolls to study a maths degree with the Open University. She's a big fan of Disney's Frozen, and loves playing with her dolls. But Esther Okade is also a university undergraduate after starting a degree at the age of ten.
Esther, one of the UK's youngest university students, is studying for a maths degree with the Open University. She enrolled three weeks ago and is already top of the class, scoring 100 per cent on a recent test.Esther, from Walsall, in the West Midlands, isn't the only member of her family with a talent for numbers - her six-year-old brother Isaiah is already taking an A-level in maths. Her mother, Efe, said applying to the university was "an interesting process because of her age.She said: "We even had to talk to the Vice Chancellor."After they interviewed her they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning. From the age of seven Esther has wanted to go to university. But I was afraid it was too soon. "She would say, 'Mum, when am I starting?', and go on and on and on.Finally, after three years she told me, 'Mum I think it is about time I started university now'.Esther applied in August, and after a phone interview, an essay and a maths exam, she finally got the news in December that she had been accepted onto the course."
"She was flying," said Efe. "She was so happy.""She is doing so well. She took a test recently and scored 100 per cent."Esther talks about running her own bank one day," added Efe. "She has a lot of plans, and talks a lot about finances."She says she wants to be a millionaire.
"Isaiah, Esther's younger brother is following in his sister's footsteps. He is doing calculus and advanced algebra."Even when he was in my tummy Esther was already teaching him."

I will report you to Demola............lol
patlead:
I joined a major pension firm in Nigeria as a contract staff, a company that if u mentioned its name , all ur friends will just scream ,baba o! (like too much money, u knw what i mean)

I worked my head off, did my supervisor’s(full time employees) job without stress and i never complained to them, but trust me i was complaining to God. I kept my attitude intact, never felt inferior , and never allowed no one talk to me as trash.infact if u talked me down, i would use a much more calmer tone and give u my piece of mind calmly(u sef go know say na condition make crayfish bend) .I got several promotions that would earn me like additional 5k or 8k or 10k(but really what would that amount do for a grown person in 2013)

The worst part is that as long as i was a contract staff, it was affecting my opportunities of getting employed in a good firm, maybe because they usually felt that the pay they are offering is way bigger than what i was earning. I learnt everything i could learn, enjoyed every thing i could enjoy while at it and continued to pray to God.
I was been paid 52k and fast forward, 4 yrs later, went for an interview with another firm after like 9 months i was called to resume.
I am not there yet,but am glad i dropped the red tag called outsource/contract or whatever tushness it is called. In my opinion, its a trap to any Good employees career.
If you are in this shoe right now, please pray well and look well and learn all you can so that when u have the opportunity, you can shine.

He failed Mathematics does not mean he lacks calculation. Asserting that someone lacks calculation has a wider implication than failing Mathematics in an examination. People who lack calculation do not become Military generals and Rulers in a country of several millions in population. So IMO,the philosophical premise for your conclusion is flawed .
sbaks:
grin gringrin if this is true, it shows he lacks calculation and creativity.
