Dear All,

It would be ungrateful of me if I didn't share this.

Bio. 12th Aug.
No nsf
Transfered to VAC: 12th Sept.
Received at VAC : 12th Sept.
Collection Mail : 12th Sept
Visa pickup : 13th Sept

I was overly worried to the point of loosing my mind. I did 2 paid calls and 1 paid mail.
Not sure though but nothing was moving until I started the paid calls and mail.

My advice for those still waiting is, do what you can whilst waiting. Distract yourself with other activities towards travelling and other logistics.
Do what you can. Paid mail, paid call. I think it helps. Get yourself busy with other matters as regards your resumption. I thinks it helps. It did help me. DISTRACT YOURSELF FROM THAT WORRY. It can usurp the mental energy you have to push through the whole journey. For me, what's gonna be is gonna be regardless. So why worry too much? Just do the very best you can and leave the rest. Pray and have a positive mind. Never entertain any negativity.

Meanwhile, Maybe it was a coincidence that things started moving after I did the first paid mail, I don't know but it worked anyway.

Appreciation to the Gurus in the house.

Ps: vignette well pasted and looking pretty. grin

Thank you

Hi fams.
I arrived Cologne, Germany yesterday morning from Dubai-Bahrain-Frankfurt using Gulf Air. The flight was nice and no time wasting from takeoff in Dubai DXB Terminal 3 to Frankfurt Terminal 1. The Germany border control police did not seemed to care about COVID-19 Negative result neither did the Gulf Air in Dubai.
I have been continuing my lectures in my self-quarantine. Inside is warm with the heater/oven while out there is cold between 4-7 degrees celcius.

For those who will be travelling from the Gulf Region, please use Gulf Air if you don't have much money as their prices to Germany and France are quite cheap about 45% cheaper than Fly Emirates and KLM.
When arriving at the airport, make the following handy:
1. Passport
2. Enrolment certificate
3. Required letter of presence (mine was never asked for)
4. Boarding pass slip
5. For Germany, Digital Entry Registration printout
6. Read about prohibited items in Schengen countries.

Thank you.

God's guidance upon you. Go and Excel bro!

Godtemi:
How Much Can An International Student Earn In Cyprus?

500-1200 euro

How many hours can an international student work in Cyprus?
Legally, an international student can only work 20 hours a week and that also after six months of arriving in Cyprus.

Let me explain it to you.
When you come to Cyprus on a student visa, the first thing you have to do is visit your college. The college will set you an appointment date with the Migration & Labour office. When the Migration Office processes your documents, then only you will be considered as a legal student in Cyprus

Since the day you are registered in the Migration office, your six months will be counted.

After 6 months, you will get a work letter from your college, and with that work letter, you can look for a job.

Update:
The law has changed now. You don’t need to wait for six months to work. You can work with your pink card now. It might take up to 3 months for your pink card to arrive. When you have your pink card, you can ask your college to give you a work letter.

Can international students work full time in Cyprus?
No, they cannot. You need to understand that you are a full-time student in Cyprus, not a full-time worker. You can work full time only when you come here on a working visa.

As I previously said, you cannot work for more than 20 hours a week. During holiday seasons, you can work up to 36 – 40 hours a week. That’s it. Legally, as a student, you can’t work full time.

How much is per hour wage for international students in Cyprus?
Usually, the per hour wage for international students in Cyprus is 5 Euro, but it depends. If you are a European, you might earn more than that.

Mostly for Asians and Africans, 5 Euro is the average salary.

What are the fields an International student could work in Cyprus?
According to the Ministry of Labor, the employment of international students is allowed in the following sectors:

Trade-Repairs
Health and Social Care
Household Activities
Manufacturing
Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fishery
Food Industry
Restaurants, Recreational Centres

What are the documents required to look for a job in Cyprus?
The primary documents
necessary for a part-time job in Cyprus for International students are as below.

Passport
A valid Residence Permit of Cyprus (Pink Slip)
Work Letter from College. (College won’t give you a work letter until you have your pink slip.)
A time table of your studies/class. (Your college will provide you the time table.)

As an international student, would I be able to pay the tuition fee with just a part-time job?

With just a part-time job, you would be able to earn around 400-600 Euro per month. Now, with that much money, you can pay the college fee, but it depends upon how you use the money.

If you are living in an apartment where you would have to pay around 300 Euro for your room rent + electricity charge + water + WiFi charge + extra stuff, you won’t be able to save for the college fee.
But if you stay in a room with a less fare + you closely monitor your expenses, I guess you can save the money for the tuition fee.
Note:
I am talking about college and scholarship not a University. The fee structure of Universities is much higher than that of colleges.

There is no way you can pay for the University full fee just by doing a part-time job.

If there is no work, then how are students surviving?
Before giving you the answer to this question, here is something that you should know.

You have to bring 2000 Euro in Cash with you to show at the Immigration at Larnaca Airport.
You have to pre-pay the college fee for one year before coming to Cyprus.
Now, for a year, you don’t need to pay the tuition fee in college, and as you have 2000 Euro with you, you can easily survive for at least 6-7 months.

This is how most of the students are surviving.

The Ministry of Aviation is confused.
There have been so much pressure from the aviation industry to open up international flights.
Let's hope international flight may resume anything from mid Aug.
All is well regardless.

You should renew your passport. That's the wisest thing you should do right now. You will only need to go for interview (when AD comes) with both old and new passports. It's quite explainable but to be on the safer side, wait till you renew your passport before you book appointment.

Thank you bro, and thank you all.

I will sit down as recommend by Stiflersammy.

It's not my problem.

All am just saying is not to use your over desperation ruin the hope/chance of subsequent applicants.

As educated fellow, one would understand higher level of understanding from people of this category. We are in an unprecedented situation now all over the world. However, situation differs from one country to another.

If I may now ask, (1) why don't you ask them to open border to Nigerians because they opened to some other African countries? If your claim is right that they must interview Nigerians because there are doing same in other countries (2) initial visa will expire from 2 weeks to 6 months depending on categories) and from your interview it takes average of 6 weeks to a couple of months to process your visa. If they issue 3 months visa to you in March, you will still be on twitter complaining again. (3) how do you intend to attend visa interview during the lock down? Or you think they break every rules like us?
(4) how do you intend to travel even when it is not know when your own country will allow international travel?
(5) why is Nigerian embassy in Berlin not opened to her own citizens, even when all other embassy have opened?
(6) why did Nigeria not relax the curfew and lock down when Ghana and all other countries you are comparing with did?
(7) why not take to tweeter when Ghana relax curfew for Nigeria to relax too? Since we must be the same.
(cool why is traveling to France still possible from Benin Republic till today and Nigeria is internationally locked?
(9) if you ask for the reason why Ghana can chose their own date for interview and Nigerians can not, I will also like to know why visa was not required for a Nigerian citizens traveling to UK at a time in history but now a requirement?
(10) why is Nigerian part of those that can not apply for lottery to US for instance whereas some other Africans can still apply?
(11) what is the population of Ghanaian in Germany compare to Nigerians, and how many applications do they receive in each country?
(12) what percentage of Ghanaian return to their country after studies compared to Nigerians?
(13) what is the abuse of system rate in Ghana compare to Nigeria?
(14) why are Nigerians (including myself) always desperate to leave their country compared to Ghana?

Note; all this desperattions will only worsen the situation over time.
Before now, no blocked account was required.
Before now, to book interview require only half page of paper; name, passport number, travel date, destination, signature and date.
Before now, they allow us to do interview without funding.
Before now, they issue visa to some even without funding blocked account.

This is diplomatic issue, there is nothing your tweet can do about it. They have their reasons and valid data; even the one you don't have on your own country.
We can only deceive ourselves.

Are Nigerians more important to Germany than US? Or is Ghana even more important? Why are they interviewing and will soon allow Ghanaian to enter as against US?

All I will say again is please and please, don't cut the ladder by the way you handle things.

Is UK even undertaking visa process at the moment? Don't we have better link/ history with UK than Germany ?

Are we the only student in the world in this category?

The truth is, Nigerians just like most other African countries always look for who to blame. Whereas, we are the cause of our own problems, including racism.

Good luck all.

I think we should also call out the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin to open up as their action(s)/ inaction(s) is/are having bad effect on us over here.
I read in one of the press releases by the EU concerning resumption of Embassies and border lockdown relaxations. There is a condition that was given. RECIPROCITY. if any EU country is to open it's borders or consular services to a particular country, the same country must show reciprocity. I think that could be the cause of the issue we are having.
I want to suggest we call out the Nigerian embassy in Berlin to open quickly. This way we will have, hopefully, better results.
Let the Gurus in the house lead the way and we'll all follow. We will tag abike dabiri. Tag every official concerned with diaspora matters

walexies:
This is dicey. My opinion is we should not blame the embassy, neither should we blame those going on Twitter.

Why we should not blame the embassy: put into consideration that the EU/Germany made their decision far before this month. And if we look farther, we would see that there was restriction on movement in Nigeria (interstate). If the embassy were to be opened for CAT B interviews far before now, how will those living outside Lagos and Abuja get to embassy for their interviews. Moreover, there was restriction on local flight, until yesterday. So, since the government has relaxed local flight restriction, it makes sense to believe the person that said they may open for CAT B interview on Monday.

Why we should not blame those that went on Twitter: All around the world, peaceful protest is the order of the day, just like the ongoing BLM. Let us see theirs as virtual protest due to the on-going coronavirus. I am not against what they are doing so far it is guided and has a solid goal.

This call for my question: what is the goal.

Is it for the embassy to start sending emails for appointment dates? If that it the case, it was impossible until 8th of July as we had flight restriction locally, don't forget FGN relaxed interstate travels July 1st and German government were not in the know until when FGN announced; they can't wait for our government before they will make theirs, Ghana relaxed theirs (local flight) far before July; hence why Germany inculcated Ghana's when making their decision in June. So in nutshell, they can interview Ghanians even if they are yet to relax international flight ban coz their was no restriction locally. For ours, that was what they thought coz no one knows our govt would relax July 1st, which was same day when embassy of countries under EU were directed to resume; but for Nigerians, if they had decided to call us for interview when we had interstate restriction, how will the person in borno get to Abuja or Lagos; and even if Germany had given the order to call for interviews the next day after FGN announcement of interstate movement, don't forget we had local flight restriction (not everybody can travel that long distance by road due to one or 2 things)

The second goal: Is it for us to be able to choose our appointment dates like our counterparts in other countries? If this is the case, it is arguable but not 100%. Our government is not helping, our international profile is not assisting, some of the Nigerians in diaspora are making matter worst and tarnishing the image of the country, just like our so called politician.

It is arguable because they can still do something about it rather than making us look less human (if you see it that way; believe me, no one can treat Americans like this); but think about it, if our economy is on point (like China) or thriving to be there (like Rwanda), German govt and EU won't have option but call our government to the table, and address her citizens like Kings and queens.

Free education with German tax payers money extended to foreigners is a privilege; and for those with the school of thought that the 10,236 euros (payment into blocked account) is an investment in German economy are also damn right.

However, to guys on Twitter, nice work but be guided. Remember there is a thin line between how fine what you are doing is and how bad it can be. If it is bad, is going to affect not just us but generations to come; and if it is a good job, is going to also have effect on generations to come.

I believe with no expectation from a seer that they will start calling for interviews next week since our govt already relaxed the local flight restriction yesterday (8th of July, 2020).

Well said brother. Well said

Questions define who we are. Let's ask critical questions for critical thinking and answer.

Dear Brothers,
There is no need insulting people asking questions. Some questions on this forum may sound silly and I feel like damning those asking the question too. However you can never understand someone else's view if you are not viewing from their angle. I have answered to a seemingly silly questions without insulting the person.
I don't want to argue about this please. Let's not insult people asking whatever question. Some might just want to be sure. This student visa waka ehn, u can never be too sure. You can never tell that "silly" question that somebody will ask and the answer will save you greatly. There was a time you guys were new here and knew nothing. Someone must have seen ur questions as silly as well. If these questions were not answered, you probably would have comitted some costly blunders.
All you need do whenever questions are asked is just answer questions or if the question feels stupid to you, don't answer!
This forum has helped many in terms of information and I think that is the essence of the platform. Let's not kill purpose.
