Politics / Free Austin Okai by gdonmylife(m): 8:08am On Apr 12, 2017 |
STILL ON THE AREST AND CONTINUOS DETENTION OF USMAN OKAI AUSTIN By Dr. Usman Ogbo For the fast few days I took a break from writing not because those obvious wrongs that we have being talking about are not there but I am becoming tired of talking about the same thing without commensurable expected change. Two days ago the news of the arrest of Usman Okai Austin started flittering as a rumor until it was finally confirmed that he was arrested at Abuja by the SARS team from Lokoja. To me this is another big-minus mistakes by the Government of Kogi state. There are better ways to handling issues bothering on the activities of the opposition under a democratic settings as ours. Like my warri friend once said, "I no gree, I no gree, na him dey tear cloth". Arrest certainly is neither the best solution nor the right way to tackling the opposition. In fact in some countries, opposition politicians will deliberately provoke the ruling government for them to be arrested from which they will become famous. Through the arrest, public sympathy will be shifted to them which will become springboard for their political mobilisation. It is said that if because of "bad belle" you decided to sell off your slave, you may end up selling him to fame and wealth. Since his arrest, a lot of people that probably have not heard about Usman Okai Austin and his social media opposition activities are not only interested in knowing him but has joined the fervent campaign for his unconditional release. The trending story of the arrest of Okai is fast becoming like the story of Joseph in the Bible. The quantum of the political consequences of the arrest of Austin Okai is akin to the arrest of Mohammed Audu, the first son of late Prince Abubakar Audu who was arrested some months ago by the Kogi State Government and later charged to Magistrate Court Lokoja over frivolous allegations. The government did not only organized a political rally of a kind for the Audu junior free of charge because of the arrest, but also has catapulted him to famous political height. Let us agree that in the process of playing the opposition figure voice, Usman Okai Austin might have overstretched. But if indiscriminate arrest of those with opposing voice (whether genuine or fabricated) is the way, how many times was Alhaji Lai Mohammed the former National Publicity Secretary of APC and now Minister of Information who though arguably can be described as a leading expert in "blackmail" was arrested by the former President Goodluck Jonathan when he was peddling all manners of accusations against his person and his administration? Again, if what Usman Okai Austin was saying were not true, what then are the litany and numerous media appointees of the Government with different portfolios who as at the last count are not less than six doing to dispel by countering him with facts and figures? The arrest of Okai to me is a proof of his overpowering steps over those media appointees of the government that are been serviced with the tax payers money. If I must advice, the government needs to go back to the drawing table to review the steps taken so far with the view to correcting these obvious and avoidable lapses with staring political consequences. The transient nature of power and authority should not be forgotten in a hurry. The immediate redeeming step is to unconditionally free Usman Okai Austin. God bless Kogi state. #FreeUsmanOkaiAustinNOW!!! |

Religion / How Bridget Agbanime Was Murdered In Kofar Wambai Market Kano by gdonmylife(m): 7:27pm On Jun 05, 2016 |
According to a report from National Helm. Bridget Patience Agbahime of Mbaitoli LGA in IMO State and a wife of Pastor Mike Agbahime a senior pastor of Deeper Life Bible Church, Brigade Quarters in kano state who sold plastic materials at the popular Kofar Wambai market had wanted to close her shop on Thursday June 2, 2016 by 4.30pm to go for a church programme. Her neighbour simply identified as Dauda who is a Muslim came in front of her shop to wash his hands and feet in preparation for his own prayers. Mummy as fondly called by her church members told him to leave the front of her shop that she wants to lock the door. The man refused and told her to wait till he finishes with what he's doing (N.B;Mrs Bridget had been having serious problems with Dauda to the extent that their matter has been reported to the market association numerously). So she persisted that he should leave her shop, instead of complying the man started raining abuses on her saying that he would deal with her in the market. After people started gathering around due to the insults and abuses, the man calmed down and left...The woman thinking all had ended went to meet her husband who also has a shop in the same market but different location to report as usual. Both her and her husband went to meet the landlord of her shop, one ALHAJI Mustapha-prominent trader in the market which has been their advovate-to table the latest issue at hand. While they were reporting the case to Mustapha in the his shop.Dauda and his reinforced gang gathered and started chanting that the woman must die for blaspheming against the prophet Mohammed. The ALHAJI pleaded with them to come back in few days time promising to settle the matter but they vehemently refused and started stoning him. The ALHAJI ran for his life leaving the Mr Mike and his wife in his shop...The woman knowing that her end had com-knelt down and started praying before she was beaten and clubbed to death by the mob right in front of her husband. She was never beheaded. http://godwinitanyi..com.ng/2016/06/how-bridget-agbahime-was-killed-in.html?m=1 |

NEW FRAUD. PLS BEWARE!! Given below is what happened to someone & he has narrated this in his own words: " I received a call from someone claiming that he was from my mobile Service provider and he asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3G update to take place. As I was rushing for a meeting,I did not question, but just shut down my cell phone. After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and saw several missed calls from my family members and the others were from the number that had called me earlier –I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether I am safe. My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard 'my voice' crying out loud asking for help. My father was at the bank waiting for next call to proceed for money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report .Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up. They kept calling my cell phone until the battery had run down. I myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that there were many such scams reported. MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money. Be careful as this kind of scam might happen to any of us!!!Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls. If you are asked to shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND!Your family or friends might receive the same call. "Be Safe and Stay Alert! Please pass around to your family and friends !!!v DONT JUST READ, SHARE WITH OTHERS |
