The Richest Man in Babylon
Written by George Samuel Clason

It's a classic written in a story format that makes it more interesting to read, it teaches the basic principles in investment which am going to summarise in the 8 points below.

1. Pay Ourselves First( learn to save first before you start spending)

2.   Live below our means. (“Control thy expenditures, curtail your expenditure to the minimum ”)

3. Make our money work for us( learn to invest your savings to yield more for you)

4. Insurance protects our wealth.  (“Guard they treasures from loss.”)

5. Our home is our biggest expense.  (make efforts to get your own personal house)

6. Have a retirement plan. (“plan for your retirement now your still working)

7. Invest in ourselves. (“Increase your ability to earn by learning more and more through books etc)

8. Track Our Wealth. (Know where you are and where you are going.)

This was the one of the first books I read and it has been more than helpful.

I have the soft copy(pdf), if you need it let me know.

Happy reading smiley

start the food biz as your husband adviced.I always like it when women obey their spouse.just as I told my wife to operate the type of biz I want.this will also spice up your marital life when he sees that u followed his directives.however u must be ready for the challenges that comes with any "trading business" which I explained sometime ago on this thread:
1. it is energy sapping(so you will need a sales girl).
2. it requires huge human effort
3. it is time consuming
4. you will need space for storage
5. it does not guarantee instant income

other businesses you can consider that guarantees instant income are listed below(u can use the 2nd shop for this).
1. biz centre/cafe
2. barbing saloon
3. sell audio/video cds

with barbing saloon alone you can make average of N4000 daily(depending on your area). its a biz av done b4 in 2008 during my nysc so I can guarantee thats its very profitable.since u are on ground,u can monitor daily sales.just employ a good barber.you will excel

Health / Re: Nigerian Doctor Recovers, Discharges From Quarantine by Gdyne(f): 10:51am On Aug 18, 2014
Dont forget that Africans especially Niger people believe in the Almighty God and whenever we call upon him in time of danger especially, HE always answer to prove the enemy wrong. All Enemies of Nigeria will be put to shame. Mark it somewhere.

I'm not given to sensationalism but I'm excited by this news.
Its going to go a long way in boosting the confidence of the care givers and increase the morale and fighting spirit of the other infected victims to survive.
I want to believe our standard of living is higher than those countries with 60% mortality rate of the EVD or at least those were impoverished people in their rural area with not so high immunity. Nothing stops the mortality rate being 40% or lower here with good nutrition and health supplements. [/quote]

Investment / Re: How Do I Open A Fixed Deposit Account? by Gdyne(f): 10:30am On Jul 15, 2014
Please am interested in T.Bills how do I go about it. Thanks.

fckyourman: Yes you can open a fixed deposit account. Ask your bank for the minimum usually around 100k.

Rates differs from each bank.
There are 3 months 6 months or even 12 months.

Fixed deposit is a good investment when you have a lot of money since the interest are usually around 10% per annun.

I would advise go for treasury bills
Celebrities / Re: Divorced Cases That Shook Nollywood (Photos) by Gdyne(f): 12:05pm On Jul 03, 2014
Edymonte and hugelyendowed, your comments are good because devil is out to wreck marriages and he has some women and men as his agents and if you are a wife or husband and don't recognise it, you become a victim of circumstance, just like the case of Late Titilayo of sky bank. Some use their first wife or husband for ritual purposes, that is , through diabolism and since you can't trace it, they name it something, meanwhile the person is gone, and they will marry another wife or husband. If anyone notices any consistent and unrepentant evil move, is better to come out alive. Let people talk. If you have children, it is better you are alive to them your story than you are gone and they will forge so many things against the dead. May the Almighty God be with us as we make our choices of spouse.

Remember, Isaac told Esau, in Genesis 27:39 And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; 27:40 And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck." (Genesis 27:30-40 KJV).

This also confirms that, whatever we bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever we allow on earth shall be allowed in heaven.

Investment / Re: New Shares(public Offer) by Gdyne(f): 4:50pm On May 24, 2008
I wonder why it is not easy to buy from PP. Anytime I ask my stockbroker to help me buy he will say is not available. Is there any criteria for it or for some class of people or rush or minimum sum involved.

I really need to know because they are not encouraging me.

Thanks.

Business / Re: Which Bank Is The Most Customer Friendly In Nigeria? by Gdyne(f): 3:47pm On May 24, 2008
Ive not done any business with GTB but Ive heard so much about them. My bank is Intercont. they are very friendly, and go to any lenght to satisfy their customers. The worst is Bank PHB, our assigned accounts officer never cared to know us, I had to change our staff salary account to Intercont.
