I am very sure you are still living under someone's roof. You are still been spoon fed. You don't own a car or a generating set neither have you started paying for electricity because no matter what if you are doing all of the above, this kind of statement will not emanate from you. You have not started feeling the pain those who are doing all of the above are feeling and your statement is very childish. You need to grow up. Yomisky: 3 Likes |
Science/Technology / China Kick-starts Development Of 6G Technology by gentlemayor(m): 8:43pm On Apr 06, 2020 |
China kick-starts development of 6G technology less than a week after rolling out its superfast 5G network China has officially begun the research and development of 6G technology. The news came less than a week after the country rolled out its superfast 5G network. The country's Technology Bureau has formally set up a team of experts to work on the next-generation mobile internet connection, state media said today. A total of 37 telecommunication specialists drawn from universities, institutions and corporations are on the panel, which is tasked with laying out the development of 6G and proving the scientific feasibility of it. The news was announced during a 6G launch ceremony in Beijing on Sunday, according to a report by Chinanews.com. Wang Xi, deputy minister of the Technology Bureau, said at the conference that the bureau was set to work with the experts to design a specific research plan for 6G and carry out preliminary research. China's three state-owned telecommunication carriers - China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom - launched their 5G data plans just last Thursday. The country is due to activate more than 130,000 5G base stations by the end of this year to support the network, which is one of the world's largest 5G deployments. Chinese engineers have already built a '5G smart town' near Shanghai, where residents will be able to download TV series, movies or games at an impressive speed of 1.7GB per second. 5G signal is sent out to the nooks and crannies of the 27-square-mile town of Wuzhen by more than 140 transmitters, which went into service recently. The country is also on its way to completing a 5G-equipped high-speed train station, in collaboration with Chinese tech giant Huawei. The 'super-fast' 5G network will be fitted to the existing Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, which is one of Asia's busiest traffic hubs and handles some 60 million passengers a year . Visitors to the station will be able to download a 2GB high-definition film in less than 20 seconds, according to Huawei. In comparison, it would take three minutes and 20 seconds to download the same film on a standard 4G network. WHAT IS 5G AND WHAT DOES IT DO? The evolution of the G system started in 1980 with the invention of the mobile phone which allowed for analogue data to be transmitted via phone calls. Digital came into play in 1991 with 2G and SMS and MMS capabilities were launched. Since then, the capabilities and carrying capacity for the mobile network has increased massively. More data can be transferred from one point to another via the mobile network quicker than ever. 5G is expected to be 100 times faster than the currently used 4G. Whilst the jump from 3G to 4G was most beneficial for mobile browsing and working, the step to 5G will be so fast they become almost real-time. That means mobile operations will be just as fast as office-based internet connections. Potential uses for 5g include: * Simultaneous translation of several languages in a party conference call * Self-driving cars can stream movies, music and navigation information from the cloud * A full length 8GB film can be downloaded in six seconds. 5G is expected to be so quick and efficient it is possible it could start the end of wired connections. By the end of 2020, industry estimates claim 50 billion devices will be connected to 5G. The evolution of from 1G to 5G. The predicted speed of 5G is more than 1Gbps - 1,000 times greater than the existing speed of 4G and could be implemented in laptops of the future. Politics / The Conflict Between Democracy And Sharia Ideology by gentlemayor(m): 7:27am On Aug 28, 2019 |
In a paper dated July 31, 2019, National Christian Elders Forum (NCEF), parading prominent Nigerians including Elder Solomon Asemota, SAN; a former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen Theophilus Danjuma (ret.); Prof. Joseph Otubu; Major General Joshua Dogonyaro (ret.); Archbishop Magnus Atilade; Dr. Kate Okpareke; Dr. Ayo Abifarin; Major General Zamani Lekwot (ret.); Moses Ihonde; Elder Nat Okoro and Matthew Owojaiye, analysed the state of the nation, tracing the root of the current crisis in Nigeria to a conflict between democracy and Sharia ideology. The full text of the paper, under the title, ‘Are Nigerian Christians on a wild goose chase?’, is reproduced below: •Lt. Gen Theophilus Danjuma (ret) – •Elder Solomon Asemota Core issues It is very disturbing to observe the ease with which Nigerian elites, particularly Christians, are dribbled and sent on a wild goose chase on very sensitive national issues. There is the need, therefore, to re-state the core issues that are causing problems in Nigeria and what constitutes the solution. At this rate, those who have constituted themselves into enemies of Nigeria are having cheap victory. Today, the following unpalatable evils define Nigeria as a country: corruption and sleaze at all levels, insecurity (bloodshed, sudden death, kidnapping, rape, etc), economic recession, broken down infrastructure, dysfunctional political system, fractured social relationships, ethnic suspicion and rivalry, one could go on and on. Two questions come to our mind: What is actually the cause of the problem? Who is managing the public discourse? Let it be made clear for all that the problem of Nigeria is NOT one of the following: It is not Christians versus Muslims or Muslims versus Christians. It is not South versus North or North versus South It is not PDP versus APC or APC versus PDP It is not military versus civilians or civilians versus military It is not rich versus poor or masses versus the rich It is not poverty, unemployment, illiteracy or desert encroachment Someone may quip, “So there is no threat of Islamization, after all?” There is an Islamization agenda and it is a serious threat. What needs to be understood is what constitutes the threat and this is discernible in the difference between a Muslim and an Islamist. A Muslim practices Islam as religion while an Islamist manipulates Islam as political ideology. This is the reason Islamism is referred to as “political Islam. ” Islamism is a conscious attempt to manipulate religion as tool for political and cultural domination. While Islam is a religion, Islamism, otherwise called “political Islam”, “is a set of ideologies that holds that Islam is not only a religion but a political system”. As a political system, Islamists insist that Islam is meant to dominate the environment in which it is practiced. In a sharply divergent society like Nigeria, any attempt to implement the principles of Islamism portends great danger for the nation. It is this Islamist political ideology that is driving the crisis in Nigeria. The problem The problem of Nigeria is IDEOLOGICAL. It is simply DEMOCRACY versus SHARIA. This is the problem Nigerians need to solve. Nigeria is a democratic country under the invasion of Sharia ideology. This is the core problem that must be solved and every crisis will evaporate. Every country in the world derives its identity and system of governance from its national ideology. Countries with Sharia ideology have a system of governance and way of life different from countries with communist ideology which is also different from countries with democratic ideology and so on. No country has two conflicting ideologies except, of course, Nigeria. The 1999 Constitution is a compendium of dual conflicting ideologies pulling the country in two opposing directions. Unless this conflict is resolved, Nigeria will remain in turmoil because democracy and Sharia ideologies are antithetical to each other. The entire crisis in the country, summed up as corruption, mediocrity, insecurity and ethnicity, are consequences of the dual conflicting ideologies plaguing Nigeria. Origin The crisis commenced before independence and was solidified under the military regime when most of the military Heads of State were Muslims from the North. During the various conferences leading to independence, the impression was created that ALL Nigerians wanted democracy. Unknowingly to the other sections of the country, some northern Muslims preferred a system of governance of which Islamic law is a major ingredient. Relentlessly, they pursued this goal until they were able to smuggle Nigeria into OIC in 1986 and brought Islamic law and jurisprudence into the 1999 Constitution. Invariably, a country under Common Law became a country under Common Law and Sharia. In the ensuing conflict, one of the two has to give way because both cannot co-exist. That is the crisis going on now. Public discourse In recent times, skilful spin-masters have been manipulating public discourse with the intention of distracting attention from the real issues. While Nigerians keep pursuing shadows, they dig in their preferred ideology. Let us recap some of those distractions. A very observant person listed the following: From grazing route to grazing reserve From grazing reserve to grazing colony From grazing colony to ranching From ranching to importation of grass from Brazil for cattle From importation of grass to Fulani Radio From Fulani Radio to N100 billion paid to Miyetti Allah From N100 billion to RUGA From RUGA to e-registration From e-registration to military ranching From military ranching to, … what next? The attention of Nigerians is constantly kept focused on symptoms while the real disease is eating away the body. And what is the real disease? It is conflict of ideologies. If you notice, few people are talking about that. Since the inception of National Christian Elders Forum, the NCEF has been telling Nigerians that the problem of the country is the conflict of ideologies. On the 17th of March, 2016, NCEF addressed a press conference with a paper titled, ‘CONFLICT OF IDEOLOGIES AS THE GREATEST OBSTACLES TO PEACE, UNITY, AND DEVELOPMENT IN NIGERIA’. Other papers have been presented by the NCEF on this issue but it would appear that Christian elites are difficult to persuade with the truth. While attention is focused on ranching and RUGA, consider what has been done to Nigeria, supposedly Common Law country: The Common Law position of Nigeria has given way to Sharia Law with the CJN as Sharia Lawyer. Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the country is Sharia Lawyer. Head of Law School is Sharia Lawyer. The 9th Assembly has legislators already mooting suggestions of amending the Constitution to provide for life Presidency. (This is Sharia, not democracy). The Federal Character Principle, one of the pillars of justice, equity and fairness in the Constitution, has been subverted. This is Sharia. The 2019 election is a classical example of Sharia in action. It was not a democratic contest. Compromising leaders The Islamists have made great strides in their goal to transmute Nigeria into an Islamic Sultanate since all the major structures of governance are under their control. They have been greatly helped by the “Islamist collaborators”, the compromising leaders in the Church and the traitors amongst ethnic leaders, mostly politicians and traditional rulers. These treacherous collaborators hunt with the hounds and run with the hare. In an earlier paper on this subject, it was stated, “Nigerian’s political history is conflict-ridden due to untiring efforts to supplant the tested and acceptable liberal democratic ideals with the Sharia, which the British Colonial powers had rejected because of its restrictive, sectional, discriminatory and subjective theocratic bias; and the fact that it could not pass the “REPUGNANCY TEST”. Our national development has been hampered by the institutionalization of conflict through the unilateral infusion of the Sharia into the 1999 Constitution under the Islamic biased military dictatorship, as against the restrictive “Islamic personal law”, which had been adopted and applied by consensus since independence and national development.” One is mystified by the outcry against RUGA in recent times as if RUGA is the problem. There is no difference between RUGA and Grazing Reserve, the difference is only in nomenclature. If Christians had devoted half the energy expended on combating RUGA on the real solutions, more progress would have been made for the country. Now that RUGA has been replaced with e-Registration which has also been followed by proposal for military to establish ranches all over the country, what would those fixated on RUGA do now? Real issues There is the need to focus attention on the real issues and avoid distractions. Whoever wants to provide solution to the crisis in Nigeria should address the conflict between DEMOCRACY and SHARIA. Nigeria is a democratic country under Common Law and it should remain so. What are the solutions? Every Nigerian with understanding should begin to agitate for a new Constitution that is based wholly on Liberal Democracy and Parliamentary System of Government. This is the ideology agreed upon by the founding fathers of Nigeria and the only ideology that could accommodate all the divergent groups in the country. Nigeria needs a NEW Constitution. Implementation of the Report of the 2014 National Conference as precursor to restructuring the country. Establishment of Truth and Reconciliation Commission as the basis for healing, forgiveness and reconciliation of all the divergent groups in the country. *The Willink’s Commission Report of 1958, states as follows: “The whole structure of the proceedings leading to independence is based on the belief that Nigeria meant to f ollow the road of liberal democracy and parliamentary government and to base part of the structure on the opposite assumption is to invite government to do their worst. But if the road is followed (liberal democracy and parliamentary government), votes will count and in the last resort it is votes that will win fair treatment for minorities” Every energy, advocacy, and intervention should be directed on these solutions. These are the solutions. It is time to stop chasing the wild goose. Source: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/08/state-of-the-nation-its-democracy-versus-sharia-ideology-danjuma-asemota-lekwot-others/

Travel / Canada: Maxime Bernier Promises To Cut Immigration, Build Border Fences by gentlemayor(m): 9:45pm On Jul 26, 2019 |
OTTAWA — Maxime Bernier says that if he becomes prime minister, his government would slash immigration and refugee numbers, build a fence to block asylum seekers from walking across the border, and end a program that lets immigrants sponsor their families to join them. With his People’s Party of Canada is barely touching two per cent in opinion polls, the Quebec MP chose to hit one of his key themes at an event in Mississauga, Ont., a western suburb of Toronto. “I can understand why immigrants would want to bring the rest of their extended family here, including older ones who will benefit from our health-care system,” Bernier said in the prepared text for his speech Wednesday evening. “But we cannot be the welfare state of the planet.” He pledged to reduce the number of immigrants admitted to Canada each year to 100,000 or 150,000 at most, if the economy and “other circumstances” allow that many. Canada currently admits about 350,000 immigrants. Bernier said Canada must look after its own citizens first, and focus on newcomers who bring economic value to the country. He denounced “mass immigration” and “extreme multiculturalism,” saying that these policies would lead to “social conflicts and potentially violence.” These ideas have nothing to do with freedom, his speech said, but rather “a very dangerous type of social engineering.” He identified “Islamism or political Islam” as a threat to “our values and way of life.” And Canadians agree with him, Bernier said, citing polls suggesting up to half of respondents think immigration levels are too high. Bernier promised to make each immigration applicant go through a face-to-face interview with a Canadian official to judge the applicant’s values and his or her acceptance of Canadian “societal norms.” He cited one of his nominees in Ontario, Salim Mansur, who has written that official multiculturalism is a lie. “A lie based on the idea that all cultures are equal,” Bernier said. “A lie destructive of our Western liberal democratic heritage, traditions, and values based on individual rights and freedoms.” Finally, on refugees, he pledged to build fences at popular crossings for migrants between official ports of entry — including a popular one in Quebec — and to rely on private sponsorships for funding new immigrants rather than government support. Romance / Re: I Don't Want To Marry Her. Should I Reject The Job? by gentlemayor(m): 6:08pm On Jul 14, 2019 |
You all are getting it wrong, what we need to ask first and foremost is that is there any form of relationship between them in the first place. Have you been seeing the daughter before the offer of job came? If your answer to the question above is NO, then go ahead with the job, you don't have to be afraid of anything except if the mother is helping you with the job on a condition of marrying the daughter, then you can let the job go. Marriage is based on a genuine love. If you go ahead and marry her based on the issue above, you have just enslaved yourself. Love in marriage should be reciprocal, it should be a two-way thing and not one sided Thank you. |

Travel / Bumi Thomas, Nigerian, Faces Deportation In UK. Given 14 Days To Leave by gentlemayor(m): 9:56pm On Jun 26, 2019 |
Musician born in UK given 14 days to leave the country Bumi Thomas has been told she is illegal despite being born in Glasgow and spending most of her life in the UK A musician born in the UK faces being kicked out of her home because of a little-known change to Home Office legislation. Bumi Thomas was given 14 days to leave after being told she is illegal despite living here most of her life. The rising jazz star grew up thinking she was British, attended university in the UK and has legally worked and paid taxes since graduation. However because her parents are Nigerian, she now faces deportation and being separated from her family and friends. The situation bears a chilling resemblance to the Windrush scandal, which saw many people deported in error after decades of life in the UK. Ms Thomas was born in Glasgow in June 1983 to parents who came over from Africa in the early 1970s. In January 1983, Margaret Thatcher’s Tory government changed the British Nationality Act that removed the automatic right of citizenship for children of parents from former colonies. The singer’s parents should have registered her but were unaware they needed to do so. In a twist of irony, Ms Thomas’ elder sister Kemi was born one year before the Act and has always had legal status. The musician, 36, believes she is a victim of an increasingly hostile attitude by the Home Office to migrants in the UK. She told the Mail on Sunday: ‘My parents came here at the end of the Windrush era. ‘I had a National Insurance number, I had my birth certificate, I’d got a driving licence, a bank account, I went to college. ‘At no point during that process was there any indication I was doing anything incorrectly.’ Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she continued: ‘I have never had any question in my mind that I’m British and Scottish. ‘And that’s something I’m proud of. But according to a piece of paper, suddenly what I think about myself isn’t valid. It’s an illusion.’ At the age of three-and-a-half, Ms Thomas and her family returned to Nigeria. She came back to the UK as a teenager, thinking she automatically had dual British-Nigerian nationality. After graduating with a degree in fine arts from Bath Spa University she began to work and moved to London, where she now lives with her sister. It was only at the age of 25 when she went to apply for her UK passport that she was told she was never registered as British. The Home Office was told she had technically overstayed in an illegal capacity. Ms Thomas said her case was classed as ‘complex’ and she was told to use human rights legislation rather than immigration laws to fight it. That marked the start of an ‘exhausting and expensive’ decade-long legal battle. Two weeks ago she received a letter from the Home Office saying her application for permanent residency had been unsuccessful. She was given 14 days to appeal or face detention without notice. Ms Thomas has since lodged an appeal and is awaiting a court hearing. The musician, who has performed at the Royal Festival Hall and London Palladium, continued: ‘My parents had no idea of the law change. ‘This was in an analogue age, where correspondence was written and there was no social media.’ She added: ‘When I was told I wasn’t British, I was shocked and devastated. My soul and my spirit were screaming. ‘Nigeria is foreign to me and I am a foreigner there. I’ve been in the UK for 18 years.’ Ms Thomas’ grandfather came to the UK to study medicine and she said her parents were also given a warm welcome as part of the Windrush generation – when people from former colonies came to the UK to rebuild the country after the Second World War. She said their treatment was in stark contrast to the way the Home Office was now treating her and thousands of others who ‘fall through the cracks of the system.’ She added: ‘There is a stigma attached to being an immigrant these days. ‘At no point did I ever think I was doing anything wrong. ‘When my parents came over they were welcomed but now it is different. There are people who have lived in the UK for 30/40/50 years facing hostility.’ Ms Thomas continued: ‘The Home Office right now has a hostile environment policy, a set of administrative and legislative measures that are designed to make staying in the UK as difficult as possible for people like me.’ The musician should be making her US debut at the Ford Theatre in Los Angeles in October but the immigration issues mean that is now in doubt. She has launched a gofundme page to help towards legal costs, which are already at £7,000 and rising. Ms Thomas’s lawyer, Fahad Ahmed, said she missed out on automatic citizenship by a matter of months and added: ‘Courts take a less harsh view than the Home Office, and if someone can prove their life is here, the courts will use their discretion.’ The British Nationality Act 1948 gave citizens of British colonies the right to settle in the UK. Since they had the legal right to come to the UK, they never needed nor were given any documents upon entry. In what later became known as the Windrush scandal, many were wrongly detained, denied legal rights or deported in administrative blunders. The Home Office is set to pay up to £200 million in compensation to people whose lives were damaged by their mistaken classification as illegal immigrants. The Home Office has been contacted by Metro.co.uk about Ms Thomas’ case. Source: https://metro.co.uk/2019/06/26/musician-born-uk-given-14-days-leave-country-10074909/?ito=cbshare 1 Like 1 Share

essenceplus: Somebody called me with this phone number 07060714545 telling me he was doing some registration online and he mistakenly put my number on what he was registering, that my number is similar to his number and that the password of what he was registering was sent to my phone which I actually saw as 6310. I really didn't want to honour you with a reply before but maybe you should read the quoted part again and you will understand where the post is driving at. He said he made a mistake by entering a wrong number. So tell me how a code sent to a wrong number will be useful to him. I don't understand how this brings about an insult. SMH |
