When you mentioned "big data" I would also ask which big data are you referring to, is it, financial data, medical data, educational data social data, etc it will aids to centralize your focus area, though.

During the period Obaseki was seeking for admission to UI, how many people were interested in going to school then? In other for the government to encourage people to go to school, it's possible for universities to lower the entry requirements. The last time I checked, some universities just upgraded to 4 or 5cs as a prerequisite to entering universities and polytechnic.

The desktop app you built is great; however, is mainly good for writing a business proposal, not an academic paper. The reason is in your app, you will mainly have just the front-end, back-end, and the DBMS codes/functionality. For an academic paper; you will need to have an abstract, introduction, methodology, results and discussions; conclusion.

In the academic paper, you will need a section for literature review, it will be difficult for you to do a literature review just based on your app. WHY? Anybody and many people have built the same or similar app using different front end and different database platforms; irrespective of the front-end language or database; the app will work what will matter now is efficiency and add-ons. So no way for you to get literature on this.



First, you have to define what your Ph.D. will look like. What research area you are interested in and then write the Ph.D. proposal sent out for evaluation. Take note; not all Ph.D. proposal/project is publishable unless its into academic pipeline. Just building one Face recognizer app does not capture what a Ph.D. is about, and one of the reasons is that many people can do the same without sweating much. But for it to be able to go in for Ph.D. then you may have to be comparing things like the language, technique, and performance of various Face-recognizer you have built and remember science must be reproducible.

Let me give you some example of AI topics that can be published and you can streamline that to your goal:

2. Secure and Intelligent Mobile Systems
3. Deep Learning-Based Biometric Recognition
4. AI in Smart Buildings

AI in Smart Buildings

Smart building refers to any structure that uses automated processes to automatically control the operation of the building, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, security, and other systems. In recent years, AI technologies have been widely used in smart buildings, which improve the operation and management efficiency of buildings. At the same time, these technologies can also improve the safety and amenity of building users.

So if Ph.D. research is directed here, it will be publishable and many already published work on this.

Air Quality Prediction Based on Machine Learning Algorithms

Worsening air quality is one of the major global causes of premature mortality and is the main environmental risk, claiming seven million deaths every year. Nearly all urban areas do not comply with the air quality guidelines of the WHO. This health threat could be diminished by developing models to forecast air quality and inform citizens of the risks of practicing certain activities during elevated pollution episodes. Several machine learning (ML) approaches have been used to predict a set of air pollutants using different combinations of predictor parameters. However, with a growing number of studies, why a certain algorithm is chosen over another for a given task is puzzling. So a Ph.D. in this area can use two to three ML models of air quality to better understand their predictive power.



No Ph.D. is not just by solving problems. A bus conductor is solving a problem for the bus driver by coordinating the passengers, assisting with navigation etc......does it means the conductor is doing a Ph.D.?

A Ph.D. is an academic degree focused on original research, data analysis, and the evaluation of theory. The goal is to develop significant and original research in your area of expertise and this research may now be tuned to solve challenges, develop a new solution, improve on an existing system or learn something new to give a deeper meaning to the poorly known phenomenon.

So you have to decide if you want to research AI-enabled devices (fabricating the devices and integrate trained AI) or AI-enabled services (get data, train data, and deploy them as apps)..........This will then inform if you will need to go to the lab or just make use of existing/fresh data. Think of your current environment, think of what problem/challenges and then see how you can solve it then start to think of what you will need to solve these problems.

Considering your background you may go for AI-powered electronics (this will entail device fabrication or using already fabricated devices and see how you can modify it to dance to your tunes). There are many opportunities in real estate, agriculture, and medical fields that will be needing AI-powered devices.
