Business / How To Scam A Scammer! by gigathon: 9:04am On Apr 28, 2017
Please, keep this list very handy. With this you'll know what a scammer's game is and use this to protect yourself.

1. Scammers don't usually write too detailed profiles.
2. Scammers will offer you over the top trades that look too good to be real. Always ask yourself if an exchange looks too good to be real. If the answer is yes, chances are you are dealing with a scammer.
3. Google the number provided by the seller. If the number gives a different location that the one the seller is providing, hesitate to continue any transaction with that person.
4. Profiles unusually have a low number of posts and e-currency exchangers are always in a hurry to complete the transaction.
5. Block your number immediately after buying bitcoin in Naira.
6. They will send money from bank accounts different than the name they are providing. This is the MITM technique and you must always double-check the names given.
7. They have several posts about being scammed themselves. Even though, some of those stories are from real people who got scammed, don’t take every story as real.
8. They claim to not have a Naira account to protect themselves.
9. They engage in fair exchanges before increasing the amount traded to find someone to scam. So make sure the seller is offering is roughly the same one the seller always offers.
10. They try to hide under religious names and use religious words to make someone lower their guard.

When you identify a potential scammer and you're suspecting something fishy about any transaction, give the scammer valuable run for his time while you go elsewhere to get yourself a safe transaction.

Business / FREE TIPS: USING TRUSTED SELLERS ON NAIRALAND! by gigathon: 8:41am On Apr 28, 2017
We have already talked about the recommendations on how to spot scammers on Nairaland.
https://www.nairaland.com/3753349/scam-tactics-how-not-scammed#55757813

As a buyer/seller you must be able to identify a scammer by knowing the basic tricks they use, such as, profiles with missing details, suspicious amounts in transactions, information that doesn’t coincide, lack of posts, etc.

But what happens when you make a transaction with someone identified as a “trusted seller” and then they disappear?
Here are some advices:

A trusted seller isn’t always real

The first thing you need to know is that when someone seems to be a trusted seller that doesn’t exempt the person 100% from being a scammer. Sometimes the person wants to build trust between the other members of the Nairaland community, by doing small transactions, to then launch a big burst and disappear. The greedy scammers will make sure to engage in legit exchange, even with you for some period of time in order to earn your trust, and then they will jump to a higher transaction after which you will never see them again.

A good way to identify if the alleged trusted seller is real is by noticing if there is a sudden change in the quantities they negotiate. If they have been doing smaller transactions and then take an unexpected leap to a much bigger amount, beware. Investigate first if they have done this before with other members of the forum and try to get as many references as possible.

Another good sign might be the use of another trusted seller for the transaction. Getting wives, partners, and friends involved in the transaction is a possible red flag that you will be scammed and both users will disappear after the transaction is done. Again, the best thing to do is investigate as much as possible even if you have done previous transactions with the seller. The appearance of a third party is a warning.

Business / SCAM TACTICS: How not to be scammed with Bitcoin exchange! by gigathon: 9:34pm On Apr 20, 2017
Bitcoin exchange is something that requires a level of trust between buyers and sellers, especially in the age of the internet where everyone can hide under an anonymous name. Places like Nairaland Forum, may seem like an excellent place to buy bitcoin in Nigeria. However, if you want to buy bitcoin with Naira, you have to be aware of the signs of someone potentially trying to scam you. Unfortunately, there is no way to be 100% protected. But if you follow this guideline, you can be partially protected against potential scammers. The bitcoin is a high value currency, you should learn how to start trading it.

Buy bitcoin with Naira safely

An important thing to take into consideration is to know whether or not the seller is a trusted one or not. It's extremely difficult to know this at these times when trusted sellers suddenly go rogue without warning or prior signs you could suspect. By looking at the history of a seller you can see if previous buyers have been satisfied with the seller or if there have been disputes with the person. All these should not be a worry if you're already trading p2p exchange on pexbank's marketplace.

Another thing that can be done to verify if the seller is trustworthy is asking in Naria. If you get at least 5 people to vouch for a specific seller, you can be guaranteed that the seller will complete the exchange instead of running away with your funds. Be warned, a team of scammers plot conspired deceit by vouching for each other and sharing the spoil after a scam transaction has been completed. Outside of that, there are things to keep in mind whenever dealing with an e-currency exchanger.

The best and easiest way to prevent a scam is by using a 100% trusted bitcoin seller, unless they are reaping you apart with their high exchange deals. Another option is to use ESCROW regardless of whether the seller is trusted or not. Pexbank is an excellent choice for escrow. And, as always, obtain as much information and as many vouching as possible before engaging in the buying or selling of bitcoin in Naira. But you could save yourself all these troubles by signing up to pexbank absolutely free today. http://ng.pexbank.com

Business / How To Use PEXBANK To Sell PAY-4-ME Service To Anyone Without A Website! by gigathon: 5:25pm On Apr 17, 2017
Pexbank is Nigeria’s Latest p2p exchange website for bitcoin and other currencies (e-currencies giftcards, fiat currencies).
http://ng.pexbank.com

It’s the easiest thing these days to complete a pay-4-me service on pexbank. Think of all the benefits you can have.
First, those that can’t have access to paypal, others OR those with issues of reliable paypal accounts can still get their services or products via other people’s help.
Second, When you have a paypal account, you often realize that you need to pay extra fees to replace the amount usually charged for paypal transactions. With pay-4-me, you wont need to bother about fees charged for receiving money before you are able to pay for your products. These benefits and others you could think of.

Pay-4-me on pexbank is just the same process private e-currency exchangers in Nigeria follow to exchange money on pexbank. To be able to give anyone a pay-4-me service,

1. Create an offer.
Offers look like this: I will Sell Paypal Funds @N400/$; Min. Order $10

2. While creating an offer, indicate in your description or by selection that you are able to offer pay-4-me.

3. You’ll get request from buyers via PM where you discuss with your potential clients what they actually need.

4. Your potential clients should now make an order right away or you create a custom offer for them.

5. As soon as their order is confirmed, go on, help them buy whatever they need.

6. Finally, deliver and get paid.

It’s that easy. Both the helper(exchanger) and the buyer can be sure that their interests are protected till transaction is completed.
