This is enlightening and educative. A fresh burst other than the usual nairaland's topics.
The more one lives, the more one learns. Good lesson here -reading through three other comments by others with deeper mastery of the English language- was that no one is absolute depository of knowledge.
Thanks to the OP for making the effort. Thanks to the other three masters for chipping in.

Even you sef ain't perfect. It's typo and not typographical error as you wrongly put it.
The more one lives , the more one learns.
angryAll my learning, I have typically assumed typo was an abbreviation of typographical...until today!! Waoow.
Salute to the brains on here....
Things we just assumed growing up, oh my my, and never ever care to check up!

Definition of typo
: an error (as of spelling) in typed or typeset material
typographical error noun

Definition of typographical error
: a mistake (such as a misspelled word) in typed or printed text
The book contains a number of typographical errors.

On another thought I think the crossing
is not literal, more like actually mating with the woman. If any one remembered Efunsetan Aniwura movie, those time doesnt allow portrayer of sexual intercourse on TV so Dr Isho Pepper's act was inferred as "crossing" the other female slave.
I believe the origin of this crossing is from we the Yorubas, so as to preserve the sanctity of matrimony and pregnancy.

On another note, I do not think there is much to a child doing that stunt- it's just part of discovery and playfulness. However some that commented earlier related a true life experience, so may be it can be real in some cases, and it may be just pure coincidence. Point in hand, those parents that only have 1 child, does that mean the 1st baby never bended over or never did the stunt? Kia cheesy I don teach am how to bend!! wink
Romance / Re: My Mother Rejected Her. But I Impregnated Her And Aborted It by Gilbertman(m): 11:32am On Apr 17, 2020
Hey,
I just want to comment here, in assumption, that your story is true. I will numbered my comments for easy digest.

1.The problem with the 1st lady was not by/from your sinful act, otherwise she will not just call you to ask for contributions, she and one or more of her family would have visited you or your family. Do not let the fear of the sin committed be capitulated on.

2. What is your plan for the lady in question? The one that aborted for you? You need to have some understanding and agreement with her , so that you can be free and both of you will be on the same page.

3. Mother (most) always know best. Though you are apparently old enough to take or reject advice from anyone, including your parents. Since you went behind your mom to do the forbidding and progress to aborting the resultant pregnancy, your recourse now is God. May God have mercy on us all that has been involve in that or that such was done on our behalf with or without our knowledge.

4." Iro ni nje mo ku tan!" What was that aspect of 'committing suicide all about? If you want to die, please go ahead, you would have only self selected end, with speed, as far as your lease on life is concern.

5. You may want to consider marrying the 1st lady, so as to contained, reformed and reproduce. However, her being the consulting oracle type is a cog in any wheel.

6. Let your new lady know your tale, she can decide what course she should take with you, save your soul or part ways with you.

7.Tell the whole tales to your mum. She will know what to do to calm the first lady and what to say/do to/with the second lady.

Romance / Re: Loneliness & Dating Abroad: Perspectives of a Nigerian Student in The U.S by Gilbertman(m): 9:22am On Apr 11, 2020
@OP, your summation nailed it! Lets' note however all the issues of loneliness, dating and such raised in the three threads, are common to every nationalities from coast to coast. Here we are concerned though with what affects/ relates to us Nigerians.
I was on several dating apps from OKCUPID, HINGE, BUMBLEBEE, BLACKPEOPLEMEET, TELEGRAPH DATING,BLK to NL,etc. I expereinced that majority of the women, apart from setting unrealistic Eldorado, they are not really ready yet for any commitment. They think it's time, yet they place cogs in their wheel to move forward.
1. Most are advanced in their academics, you will see a profile of a 37 year old, never married, no kids, a professor of this or that. After several flirts , real messages, apps prepared messages, they will then check out your profile, 1, 2 and 3rd times and eventually gifted you with monos- Yes!, Thanks! emojis! You kept on, they understand you are serious, and then you managed to get them to chat, you impressed them and boom, the decision- You are a good and kind person, but we can only be friend, I want a professional. Ask her a professional? She will responded- a professor like her in any field. Now tell me, where in the world will a eligible bachelor be with all those qualities in one basket!!!?
2. You find some with Nigerian name, , they will view you 100 times, but never think it ok to say even a hello!
3. You find other ladies, from other nations, with 1, 2, 3, 4 kids, never married, living with 1 or all of their kids, and they want all your qualities, and to accept all they have in their luggage and just fit in. Yet you get them to go out on a lunch/dinner date, go along with all their fancies, and they still said your final approval lies with their children approval!!
4. You talked with 55 year olds, very willing, mother of a 25 year old, but with one ailments or the other and don't want kids no more! There is the brick wall for you!
For someone like me, having seen most, it is just to take it softly and keep up the hope and faith spirit.
The Op from the rejoinder Canadian thread has lots of uploads on her channel, guess she is too occupied to check her inbox.
Anyway, life goes on as we know it. COVID-19 killed, is killing more men than women, compounding the see-saw dilemma and loneliness for the women now and the singles.
And yet the men surviving, are still missing out, the serious and ready one though!!!

Food / Re: The Animals Boys Caught After Morning Training (Photos) by Gilbertman(m): 9:19am On Apr 09, 2020
We can not just keep talking and condemning the insensitive massacre of the few remaining wildlife(ves?) in Nigeria. We all need to take action and be responsible. Granted- bush-meat/eran-igbe delicacies and wild life hunting are favorites pastimes and menu choice for most Nigerians/ Africans, but at this age and times, for the sake of the younger generation and ecosystem we should have reservation killing these animals. Some animals were alive in the 70s , 80s & 90s that has been hunted to extinction now. This means our children born in late 90s to present will never ever get to see even the pictures of some of the native wildlife that God blessed Nigeria with!!!
I suggest our charity should begin on this NL forum- desist enabling any posting of any kind of pictures or thread that showcase brutality or hunt of animals.
In another civilization, you will see wild Turkey, Squirrel, Deer, Antelope, Fawn, all roaming free close to humans , without no fear or care. Yes they allow hunting in those countries, but with regulations -seasons to kill, what area/location and with what means( e'g arrows/ guns, etc), and not just anyone can get up and kill, you need to obtain license to be able to engage in such hunting/ killing/ fishing expedition.

This is absolutely impressive. How I wish Nigeria supports and promotes talents!! Imagine what this genie of crafts will do with other materials?
@OP encourage him the best way you can, good that you shared this, that's a form of encouragement. Advice him not to relent, rather to keep improving and pushing...one day e go be.
See if you can get materials for him to cover the tyres' unclothedness, that way the appeal will be enhanced. I bet those 'tyreture" will be more durable than some furniture type.
Also tell him to be detailed in the cleaning of the materials, and did he stuffed them with anything? He may want to look into that in future
The comment about not good enough to make love on!! I am amazed at the way it's easy to knock great ideas and innovation!!! At least, one should try sitting and jumping on any of the lad's production to have evidence as to its sturdiness or otherwise. Please let's give talents and stars a chance.
I bet the lad has enough sense to have figured in durability and transportation.
As they looks, one may not decorate one's main living room with these, but basement living room, boy's/ gaming room can boom with such.

The only regret from this great man is he may die without grooming anyone to his level of his lyrical sense. Every legend should be able to mentor younger generations to continue your work. No one ever fit into this shoe again. You have my respect always sir. May God keeps you for more years to come in good health. What a great musician the yoruba race will never going to have again!

Chief Ebenezer Obey has groomed many. Our KSA was once with him, and so many others. However, style and level are crafted uniquely, hence noone may actually be able to wear the exact size of his shoes. Not only him, all with any God assigned talent. Check out Uncle Gbenga Adeboye, Papa Fela, Alhaji Agba, Pa Adeolu Akinsanya, Baba aladura- IK Dairo, Alhaji Haruna Ishola, Alhjai Anigilaje etc, Just mention any of our long gone legends or even the living ones-- other may follow their footsteps or be able to copy-reproduce their songs, but o ma ma jora won ni, ko le je kan na!!

an elderly last month, told me that back in the day, it was used to check against rape. A man that forces himself upon a lady is likely to rupture the beads which would scatter in his room or wherever. And those beads are tiny and numerous, not easy to totally recover. Sighting of this beads is what was used as evidence in rape claims.

In addition, it's a beauty adornment for females to showcase their cultural heritage, family dynasty, etc. Other uses as already mentioned by others on this thread include -to shape and to trained a young girl to her femininity- how to be beautiful from little etc.
Over the years, lots of evils having been sown and grown in the hearts of men (okunrin), all the original uses and intent has been adulterated( use as means for whatever end, eg security, protection, revenge, enslaved, diabolical/cult initiations...)
For the guys that said they were afraid or flee at the sight of beads on ladies, how far/fast can you run? Nowadays, there are invisible ileke, camouflage ileke - you can't see, you can't feel, but it is there gidigba! Watch when that girl didn't fight you when you said you want to.... or after all your roughening her up, she just smile....

@ Op, you have been given enough responses here to help you make a good decision. I just want to add that you focus on your work, raise funds and move out of your brother's place. There is nothing you can tell him or the 19 year old that will make them stop. They have been at it for long time, it may be that was why he even moved out from your aunt's. You are his cover up. So the onus is on you to speak out. Who to tell? Which of the parents are you closer to? Tell that elder- via hints..., but include in your story that you are not sure , but that you suspect that your cousin seems to be doing more than cooking, whenever she visit your brother.
And if you can be patient a little bit, the story will be reveal soon!! However to save your own integrity. Tell one of your parents..

This is really a mystery- not the snake, the killing or the 30 little ones, but the fact that different kind of snakes, with different name and characteristics came from the same womb! It beats me. Technically that translated to the possible logic that the snake sperm has all race(s) of other snakes? If a human being, say a Nigerian should give birth to Asian looking baby, people will shout adultery! God is really a mighty God and so loving to humankind as to make us a Dominant creation above all these wonderful creatures with wonderful capabilities!!!
Thanks to the "resourceful"ones on this nairaland, there is always one new thing or the other to learn.
