Hello please I just saw a news stating all travel Visas to Canada has been banned till May 2020. Does this mean they will not approve any visa till then or that you cant travel there till after May 2020? I'm due to travel there around that time. This CO-VID is really disturbing world peace!!!

Does this mean a pregnant woman with an existing B1/B2 Visa can still go through POE? Even though she is evidently showing?

MamaOO:

Thank God you do. My kids had the same issue as yours. ABO incompatibility due to blood type incompatibility. I’m blood type O and the kids are B (compliments of my husband)

I’m not a medical personel but I had to learn as much as I can about the subject because it caused me a lot of grief. My first son had to get airlifted by Medical helicopter to a children’s hospital two hours from us because his jaundice levels at 2days old was 21! These kinds of jaundice does not go down fast enough on his own without medical intervention. And by the time it goes down enough kernicterus and brain yellowing/damage might have occurred? Should we take that risk to save on cash? I personally wouldn’t. But maybe that’s just me. I won’t ever advise anybody who’s kid has jaundice to take them home unless the doctor okays it. And I’ll tell them to make sure they’re being monitored closely by a pediatrician. Maybe I’m just too paranoid and lily livered Sha sad

You are absolutely right... it sure made you very aware. Thank God it didn't cause any damage too. Also its cos I had to pay, if I was a citizen I would not bat an eyelash cos their healthcare is free and 80% of the babies born were jaundiced here. It seemed normal to them.

Concerning the bolded part, please don’t say that again sister. If you know the damage jaundice causes you will willingly allow them to keep your child as long as they can.

Both my babies stayed in the NICU for at least two weeks due to extreme jaundice! Instead of it to wear down as you said it would it kept jumping up until it peaked and eventually SLOWLY started going down. Jaundice can be deadly, depending on which type it is and cause kernicterus and trust me when I say I don’t wish that condition on anybody’s kids. (Google it for more info) The effects of the condition is so sever that eventually someone will wish they had spent the extra money and time at the NICU

Yes dear, I know EVERYTHING there is to know. I am a medical person too and this was blood group incompatibility cos I'm blood group O and he is B. My daughter had it too and few days exposure to sunlight and very frequent feeding she passed the bilirubin out.

Hello... Long Post alert on missionary journey
I had earlier shared my Visa application story and POE details

We (my 20 month old daughter and I) arrived Canada on the 25th of Jan. We stayed with a family friend in Mississauga

First was getting a hospital and doc to birth the baby, my host drove me to credit Valley which was the closest to us but their fee was CAD 4000/ night for mum and CAD 2800/night for baby.
We headed off to Oakville (Trafalgar memorial hospital) and their fee was CAD 3800/night for mother and CAD 2860/night for baby.

I had already called Scarbrough medical and gotten their bill which was CAD 1800/night for mother and CAD600/night for baby but it was quite a distance from me so we decided to head to Brampton Civic hospital

The lady at the registration desk was super friendly and helped me collate all doctors that take cash and international patients so I called them to get their fees.

I finally decided to go with doctor Nayla Khan, her office was just beside the hospital in the same building with Doc Ayodele
Her fee was CAD 3500 (normal delivery or CS) fee was Including all prenatal visits, delivery, epidural, pediatrician and post delivery visit. You pay this full amount at first visit. She however did not accept my tests from Nigeria so I had to redo them again at Dynacare lab and that cost me CAD67. She saw me every week till delivery since I came in at 34 weeks.

I had my baby on the 5th of March by Csection and it was a very fast and painless sugery. I had begged her to acess me after surgery and let me go after 24 hours and she agreed.
12 hours after birth my baby was jaundiced and they insisted he had to be taken to NICU. My heart sunk!! He was in NICU for 2 days but I was discharged after 24 hours and was given a complementary room in the NICU unit for the rest of the 2 days so I didn't have to pay for that.

I applied for the 4 in 1 birth certificate bundle for CAD 60 which arrived after 10 working days, I made a mistake on the form so it took longer to process.

We applied for the expedited passport and got it the next day. Thank God for Hotstepper who was very ready to guarantee me. Bless her heart

My contact at immigration proceseed the Visa On Arrival for baby and sent approval letter same day. Reach out to Hotstepper if you need help with this

We have added baby to our ticket and are leaving this weekend.

Summery
Hospital 2000/night mother and 2500/night baby because he was in NICU
Doc: 3500
Dynacare: 67
Birth certificate: Long and Short: 60
Passport(expedited): 107
Transport to and fro Brampton: 150
Circumsion: 175
Baby ticket: 77

Overall, it's been an amazing journey. I just wished they treated jaundice with less severity cos it eventually wears out on it's own. So baby alone cost me CAD5000 but he is hale and hearty
So choose a hospital close and cheapest to you to accomodate unforeseen expenses. Thank God it ended in Praise

Hello House, Long Post alert

I arrived in Canada yesterday with my 20 month old daughter. This is a flight and POE post.
First of all i want to say that life is a manifestation of your faith and Courage so this journey starts in your mind. So its better you see how you want it to go and then PRAY endlessly about it.

As you recall i applied the last week in November and was approved first week in December... the fastest i had ever heard!!!

Next was getting currency for the trip. I applied for PTA at Zenith bank and got $4000 at 358 same day.

The rest i changed at BDC at 361. But i made sure it didnt get to CAD10,000 so i didnt have to declare.

We used Ethopian airways and was originally checked in one of those seats with extra leg room cos of my condition but that wasnt was i asked God for though... after everyone had settled in, one of the crew members sent for me to give me back my doc documents cos Ethopian airways makes you go to their own doctor in VI to get fit to fly 2 days before the trip and my daughter ran after me. She asked how i was going to manage and i said my dear, God will have to help me.

So she sent someone to my seat to get my things and moved us to two seats in BUSINESS CLASS!!
I was overjoyed!!!! It was a long flight but i was super comfortable to say the least. Food was at your request and they are so courteous and professional.

We finally arrived after 20 hours, but there was a 3 hour transit at Adis Ababa. We moved to immigration for declaration card and the rest. I was carrying baby milk so i was sent to customs.

VO: Why are you here for 72 days?
Me: im here to have my baby
VO: How much do you have on you?
Me: 9000 CAd and already brought it out for her to see
VO: okay so its in cash. What about emergencies?
Me: i have $3,500 in my dollar card and my husband will be sending more if i need it.
VO: what does he do?
Me: He is an IT manager

Smiles and types...
VO: is someone getting you? And how many kids do you have?
Me: yes my friend is outside and i have just her. My daughter was on the stroller so i picked her up
VO: awwww she is gorgeous!!!
Stamped me in for 6 months and said have a safe delivery. The exit is that way...

My host was outside waiting and we came home. We have called a few docs now and waiting for appointment

So all i can say is.. pray! Pray and then pray again!!! Everyone back home prayed with me for favour. Just have a positive outlook about this journey. He that started a good work is faithful to finish it.

Wish all expectant mums good fortune and FAVOUR!!!!

Thank you @gingalady

I have a few question which I haven't seen the answer from this thread.

1)I don't have the funds for the medical bill in one account. Should I provide all the statement of each account or move the money to one account

2)Can I put that my husband and I will be sponsoring the trip even though he might not be travelling with me.

3) If I have a lump sum transferred to my account will be an issue.

Any one with answer, please assist. Thank you.

Hello,
1) well I moved it to one account and printed that statement.
2)my husband was the main applicant, so he was the sponsor and I was listed as dependent and he is not travelling with me
3) I had a lump deposit too so I wrote a cover letter explaining the source of the funds

Guess this is online application. Did you input all the information yourself.

As I planned to start my application on Monday. Trying to decide which will be faster. Online or paper. I am 21 weeks already.

Thanks.

Online is faster from my experience and I did it myself. Feel free to ask any questions

That is not TRUE!!!

I just got my visa and for 4 years too! And in two weeks even!!
There are two options: you either specify it under purpose of visit and put OTHER and insert childbirth
Or if it’s an Online application to indicate it at point of entry. Most important thing is not to LIE

There was no were to indicate but I later discovered here you could pick OTHER and input childbirth as purpose.

congrats @gingalady

I looked at the processing time for visitors visa and it’s showing 69 days. Any idea if this is for paper applicants as it seems rather long.

Also I was wondering , if there’s one sponsor with dependent (wife) , do they need separate online profiles ?

Thanks in advance

That’s an average and every application is perculiar. Mine was processed in 1 week just the passport return took almost a month cos of Xmas holidays. All 3 of us had just one application profile
Travel / Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by gingalady: 5:33pm On Jan 06, 2019
Hello, I have been following the thread for quiet a while now and decided to share my success story to encourage someone.
My US visa expired July last year and I tried to renew it in October but was called for interview after doing Dropbox. The category had changed to a B1/B2 as I had the intention of using it for childbirth this year. The Visa however was denied. VO said the hospital I chose in Houston was fond of defrauding Medicare. The denial shook me for about 3 hours but I picked myself up and started the Canadian Visa that same day.
First I answered the questionnaire and noted the documents that was required and went about gathering them. This time my husband was the Principal applicant and then my daughter and I dependents.
About 2 weeks later I was ready to submit the online application. Here are a list of documents submitted.
Employment letter
Bank statement of 3.1M
House documents
Letter of introduction from his office
Marriage certificate
Travel history
Invitation letter from my cousin with her tax forms and driving license
Travel itenery

These documents were basically all his as they didn’t request for mine or my daughters’ except for the immigration forms we filled

My timeline :
Sunmittted: 22 Nov 2018
Biometrics: 27th Nov 2018
Approval mail ( RFP): Dec 5th 2018
Submitted: Dec 6th 2018

I had thought it would take less than 5 days for the stamped passport to be returned. But December ended!! To say it didn’t test my faith would be a big lie! I tracked my passport everyday!!! And finally
Stamped Visa: Jan 4th 2019

All 3 of us were given Visas: Hubby 2 years, me 3 years, my daughter 4 years!
Leaving for Canada next week! Meanwhile I had booked my flight since I got the approval mail!! I wasn’t going to take a NO!!! So yeah thats my long story!! Keep the faith! Be positive! And go ahead... Wish everyone a positive story this new year

Thanks to all the contributors on this thread, the info here is invaluable. I've been silently reading up on all the pages here and just took the decision to apply about a week after I got a 221g interview invitation from the US Embassy and couldn't find any available dates before I'm due to travel cos I'm currently 24weeks gone and due in March next year. Thankfully that has been resolved, just got a favourable date now. Anyways here's how the Canada TRV application went for us:

Submitted online application with hubby as PA: November 13th 2019
Biometrics Enrolment: November 15th 2019
Original passport request: December 4th 2019

Vacation and birth tourism were stated reasons for applying. Got lots of info from here and dove into the application right away, just so grateful to God that we had our application processed quite quickly.

Onto active Dr, Hospital and accommodation search now. Headed to Oshawa, Toronto, that's where I stated as my destination in my application.

All the best with all your plans dear mommas and daddies too.

Hi dear, have you gotten your passport back after passport request? And how long did that take?

The new passport is ready at Nigerian immigration . I used the one with my fathers name to apply for visa online . The new passport will be activated with my thumbprint, I have not collected it, I’m still skeptical. The passport I have now will expire in 15 months.

I think you should submit both and then add a cover letter. Better still take both to VFS and explain this. It would make more sense if they stamped the new passport so you have 5 years visa instead or reapplying after a year

Ontario.

I'm not good with all the names. I just got my visa approved and aside not having a doc or accomodation....I'm wondering if it makes sense to travel with my 14 month old son to a place where I don't know any one.

I can really use your help and advice. In my form I filled Toronto with a hotel address as my destination. I also did not state that I would be travelling with my son but he's a US citizen and won't require visa processing.

I'm 32 weeks gone and ready to be on the next plane if I can get some directions. Otherwise it looks like I will have to stay back in Nigeria.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi dear, I think if you have someone to look after your son while you are gone and can’t handle the stress then leave him here. I’m travelling with my 19 month old soon too cos no one to leave her for here.

If your budget can handle it then get an accommodation for the stay period.

If you arrive there I’m sure you can sort doctor and hospital. That’s if you cant get them from here
@hotstepper can help you out

I applied for visit visa online two months ago, and I got a message on Friday that my visa was approved.
I also applied to change the name on my passport three weeks ago. I changed my surname to my husbands name.
My current passport which I used to apply for my visa expires in April 2020. In 1yrs and 4 months.
The question is which passport should I take to vfs for visa collection?
And also how many days does it take for Canada embassy to return your passport?
Thanks

Do you now have two different passports?
Which one was inputed in your application?
They need to see the travel mdocument you will present at the border. If it now has a new name then it should be in the records
