Davido's father, Adedeji Adeleke's house on Esther Adeleke street in Lekki, Lagos state was gutted by fire yesterday, July 16th. According to an eyewitness, the fire started this afternoon at about 1pm at the pent house of the building.

The fire service officials were alerted and they were able to quickly put out the fire before it spread to other sections of the house. No casualty was recorded in the incident.

My most memorable childhood experiences would be the moments I spent with my grandmother. I learnt kindness from her and I miss her a lot. She gave her all to people. I lived with her during my primary and secondary school education. She told us stories about life and how to deal with people. Back then, my ambition was to become a medical doctor.

Education

My elder brother told me I started school too early because I was a smart kid. For my elementary education, I attended Ajebo Muslim Primary School. From there, I moved to Itamerin Comprehensive High School in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. For my university education, I initially wanted to study Medicine, but I was offered Botany. I didn’t like the course, so I decided to study Mass Communication at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State.

Nollywood

People always told me I was good at acting, and a friend eventually introduced me to a certain theatre group coordinated by Big Abass. I was trained in Big Abass’ organisation between 2003/2004. Later, I joined Murphy Afolabi’s group. I now have my own production company. The title of the first movie I featured in was Olami Lekan.

Parents’ reaction

My dad is late. It was my mum and siblings that I had to deal with. I left home totally in order to pursue my dream. I was on my own, pursuing what I desired to do for some time. At the end of the day, they had no choice but to support me.

Challenges

My biggest challenge is my stature. I hardly get the kind of roles I would love to play. I consider the other challenges I experienced as obstacles I encountered when I started out. But, the story is different today.

Breakthrough

My big break came when I featured in Mama Ereko’s movie titled Omo Eleja. That was when people started paying attention to me. After that, I produced a movie titled, Wasila Coded. These movies are significant to my growth in the industry. I am still a work in progress though. I haven’t got to the height I would love to attain.

Lessons

I have learnt to be determined. If you are not determined in this part of the world, you will be intimidated. When you are intimidated, there won’t be room for growth. I have learnt to be my own competition. I focus on me and keep moving against all odds. I have also learnt to be more cautious when relating with people. That’s because it’s not everyone you love that truly loves you. I have learnt to be strong and focused; not to be intimidated by anyone.

Personal qualities

I have a good heart and I’m very accommodating. I am ever ready to support people, and that has really helped me a lot. I am a very open person, and I love to give.

Personal productions

I have produced eight movies – Ore Itunu, Omotodun, Obun, Wasila Coded, Adigara Wolu, Ana and Wasila Coded Reloaded.

Movie production can be very stressful; it is like building a house. The foundation, which is the story line, has to be solid. The technical aspect should also be good. When you are producing a movie, make sure you use the best hands.

Roles

Because of the roles I play, some people think I am a gangster, but that is not the real me. I will love to act a lover girl role in a movie. I will also love to produce a traditional movie.

Fame

Fame hasn’t robbed me of anything. I do some things and people ask me, ‘Don’t you know you are a star?’ I can do whatever I want to do and go anywhere I want to go to. So long it doesn’t belittle me and my reputation is still intact.

Toyin Lawani

Yes, I was involved in an online fight with Toyin Lawani. There was a mix-up somewhere. However, Toyin is a lovely person; she is so beautiful in and out. After the comment I made on the said post, I sent her a message, telling her I didn’t intend to insult her. She said she didn’t take it personal and we laughed over it. It has been resolved. On her birthday, I was there with my manager. She was excited to see me. We are not enemies. We won’t allow people on social media turn us to enemies.

Personality

I am very down-to-earth. I can be crazy, jovial and friendly. You cannot spend a minute with me and not laugh. I am a lovable person; I don’t like trouble.

Wasilat Coded

I changed my name on Instagram from Wasila Coded to Adebimpe Akintunde because people mix-up a role I played with my real personality. So, I had to revert to my real name because many don’t know it. Sometimes, I win awards, and ‘Wasila Coded’ is engraved on it.

Award-winning actor, Ali Nuhu, has been in the industry for quite a while. Mostly featuring in Hausa-speaking movies, many perceive him as being snobbish for not appearing in movies made in the southern part of the country. But in a chat with Sunday Scoop, the dark-skinned actor gave his reasons. He said, “There is a disconnection between the film industries in the northern and southern part of the country. There are many reasons for this; one of which is the market.

In northern Nigeria, the stories usually have Muslim themes with Hausa tradition, while in southern Nigeria, it is mostly Christian stories with either Igbo, Yoruba, Benin or southern cultures. As a result of different cultures and backgrounds, northern actors are not usually comfortable with the roles they are given in the southern film industry. That makes it uncomfortable for them to be part of the industry.

“Having said that, I don’t think the dichotomy is healthy for the industry because when movies cut across both axis, they tend to attract a wider audience. If there is a way the gap can be bridged, it would be of immense importance to the industry.”

The actor said he had been able to remain relevant in the industry by staying loyal to his target audience. “When I started out with movies in southern Nigeria, I used to experiment with different kinds of roles. And with time, I started realising the type of roles a large chunk of my fans wanted me to play and I adhered to that. If I am not comfortable with any role given to me, I tell the producer outright that I cannot do it. Every actor should have a target audience and endeavour to give them what they want per time. That is how I have been able to cope over the years,” he stated.

Contrary to the notion that the northern film industry is too strict, even going to the extent of banning actresses from hugging on camera, Nuhu stated, “I wouldn’t say that the industry is too strict, but the background and culture an actor comes from matters a lot. If you’re from a particular area and are loved by the people of that area, if you do things your audience is not comfortable with, you would be automatically rejected. And if you’re rejected in the North, even the producers in the south would not want to work with you.”

Below is a picture of Shindara Fatoyinbo, the daughter of COZA pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo, whom Busola Dakolo babysitted when she allegedly got raped a second time.

The picture was shared by pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo in celebration of her birthday in 2017.

He wrote:

“The Birthday Girl! Every time I look at you, I’m reminded of the miraculous power of God! Your mum and I love you beyond words. Thank you for being an amazing child and for making our work as pastors easier! Happy birthday Shindara!”

According to an interview Busola Dakolo had with YNaija, Shindara was born in 1999 which was around the same period she was allegedly raped by Biodun Fatoyinbo.

As narrated: “Fatoyinbo showed up at her house unannounced. It was a Monday morning early enough that Busola Dakolo was still in her nightgown. Her mother had traveled with her sisters and were absent at service the previous sunday. He didn’t say a word, forcing her onto a chair, speaking only to command her to do as he said. It took Busola a while to come to terms with what was about to happen, and it was why she didn’t struggle or make a fuss when he pulled down her underwear and raped her. She remembers he didn’t say anything after, left to his car, returned with a bottle of Krest and forced her to drink it, probably as some crude contraceptive. She remembers him saying. “You should be happy that a man of God did this to you.” At this time, his wife had just given birth to their first child, Oluwashindara”.

However, an investigation done by controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo reveals that Busola Dakolo may have gotten her dates wrong on the rape allegation.

“Busola lied about it, yes she lied about it. Because if she said she was 17 and that she was picked up by a pastor to go babysit his kid per the pastor’s wife’s phone call, and that the pastor’s wife was told that “I’m I your house girl or what?”. At the same time, this little baby was born in 2002. If Shindara was born in 2002, how could they have called you in 1999, or even in 2000 or 2001 before the baby was born? Busola didn’t add her dates up properly”, she said.
