I was born to employee parents and had been one all my life (even now as an entrepreneur). I am bold to say that being an employee has paid well. And that you need to be one to support that business venture you plan to move into.

URGENT HIRE: LEGAL EXECUTIVE
LOCATION: ABUJA

Alter 4 Change(A4C) is an emerging Real Estate Development company situated in Abuja. The company has grown consistently in its short period of existence. A4C requires in its service a vibrant legal practitioner that will join to promote change in this business sector.

Job Summary: To understand and uphold any and all legal matters related to business and corporate affairs. Provide relevant secretarial duties to the company.

Roles and Responsibilities

Legal
• To prepare, approve, sign and seal agreements leases, legal forms, and other official documents on the company’s behalf, as authorised by the board of the directors or the responsible executive;
• To advise, in conjunctions with the company’s solicitors, the chief executives and/or other executives, on legal matters, as necessary;
• Deal with enquiries from solicitors and other external agencies and advice accordingly;
• Advice corporate clients and employees on their legal rights and obligations;
• Ensure proper protection of company and clients’ company from trouble by anticipating and helping to circumvent problems;
• Keep A4C and external clients up to date on new business laws and regulations;
• Provides advice on labour relations, employee contracts, tax issues, employee injury, patents and contracts with clients/employees/vendors;
• All administrative tasks required for the post.

Company Secretary:
• Maintaining statutory books, including registers of members, directors and secretaries;
• Dealing with correspondence, collating information and writing reports, ensuring decisions made are communicated to the relevant company stakeholders;
• Organizing, preparing agendas for and taking minutes of board meetings and annual general meetings (AGMs);
• Contributing to meeting discussions as and when required, and advising members of the legal, governance, accounting and tax implications of proposed policies;
• Liaising with external regulators and advisers, such as lawyers and auditors;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Skills
• Must be a Legal Practitioner, or a Law graduate that has been called to bar with minimum of five (5) years’ post-graduation experience
• Must have qualified as a Chartered Secretary
• Relevant post graduate qualifications is an added advantage, but are not a requirement
• Must have worked in similar position for not less than 3 years
• General business interest and awareness;
• Able to work effectively at all levels in an organization;
• Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal;
• People management skills;
• Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal.

Role Summary: To provide high quality personal and administrative assistance to the Managing Director to support the achievement of the wider company goals.
To act on behalf of the Managing Director in his absence.

Roles and Responsibilities
PA/ Secretarial:
• Provide a full range of confidential personal assistance to the Managing Director; 
• Responsible for the execution of secretarial duties, management and organization of Managing Director’s office;
• Compose and prepare correspondences, reports, memorandums, agendas and minutes of meetings;
• Maintain strict confidentiality and interact professionally with all levels of management, staff and business associates;
• Maintain good filing systems for smooth data retrieving;
• Arrange meetings/conferences; prepare presentations and other related tasks.
• Make travel arrangements for related local and overseas trip;
• Convey, coordinate, supervise, pursue and follow up on the instructions by the Managing Director to the respective management staff;
• To represent the MD to third parties internally and externally;
• Liaisons with internal departments, subsidiaries, bankers, lawyers and government offices for the MD;

Office Manager:
• Ensuring visitors are greeted and welcomed warmly;
• Managing & booking meeting rooms;
• Ensuring all provisions are in place for meetings;
• Assisting with setting up workstations;
• Ensuring all Health, Safety and Security procedures are adhered to;
• To undertake other special assignments, ad-hoc functions and related duties as and when required by the Managing Director.

Qualification and Skills
• First Degree in Social Sciences
• Membership of Professional Organization will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 – 4 years’ experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal;
• Must be computer literate as well as proficient in the use of Microsoft office packages;
• A good deal of common sense, etiquette and an ability to think on one’s feet;
• Maintain the strictest confidence of the MD and CEO at all times;
• Excellent organisational skills;
• Highly personable;
• Excellent typing skills, speed and accuracy essential.
