Politics / Re: The Dirtiness That "Is" Nigeria by Godogwu: 4:42am On Apr 29, 2013 |
Every country, state, city, town whatever has its own filthy areas. Frankly we can't always blame the government for the filth; the people/residents should also take a bit of the blame too.
I can't even be offended by these pictures, it just shows more work needs to be done in beautification and infrastructure. Finally, its only a deluded nitwit that'll feel all parts of Nigeria looks this way. yea at the poster, you can't "shame" the government by showing pictures of the redundant areas in Nigeria... It's flipping Nigeria, its a third world country remember ?, I'm sure going through this thread people also saw pictures of dead areas in Europe and America thats filled with first world countries.
Nevertheless, i still love my country... We'll keep growing and we'll get there. |

If we had a working system in Nigeria, then I can assure you that Nigerians will rush home and help build our fatherland. So the people working and making a living for theselves in Nigeria are dumb or blind. The way some of you make it seem though, like the people who didnt leave their fatherland at the slightest opportunity are foolish, spare us the sentiments. I agree with you that there is no safe country though. 2 Likes |

Last time I was in Nigeria, I was in my early teenage years, not ven in High school yet. That shoity azz country scares the bejizuz out of me. As we started unpacking our bags from Departure, one guy just came and pick up two of our bags as if we send am. The thief was so brave o. In the middle of the day, with police around. Police go just point gun anyhow. And they treat you like a criminal just because you just came from Amelikka. These cops literally had us unzipping our bags in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. Going through our stuff. WTF? This was wayyyyyyyy before 2006 o, so it definitely wasnt because of boko haram, na greed. I promised myself never to go to Nigeria again. If not because I'm a true Ekiti girl, in love with her state and kinsmen, you think I'll ever think to break that promise (in the future)? Why not travel to Maiduguri, Kano, Zamfara and spend few days there before coming here to tell us how safe Nigeria is? Are those places not part of Nigeria? I travelled from New Jersey to North Carolina between 1:30am and 9am without any itch from police, armed-robbers or anyone, could that be possible in Nigeria with a brand new car in the middle of the night? You are spinning too much these days, bro. Just yesterday you came here to post about a phony $100B investment coming to Nigeria. Stop it! yes very possible. |

Omo_Tier1: Sorry, even though I live in the UK, as you may well have noticed I travel alot and Nigeria is one place I visit alot so I know first hand what it is like.
The fact is I can leave my house at 8pm tonight and drive all the way to Wales, or even Edinburgh and I would arrive there feeling safe and enjoying my gospel music all through the night with my heart feeling at home with me.
I remember traveling from Lagos at 7pm to Benin City and I got there at 2am due to traffic and only missed being attacked by thieves by a whisker and the reminder of the drive was on top speed! Even getting to stop at major eatery where those caoches from the East usual stop was a HUGE risk.
Lets stop kidding ourselves, Nigeria is only safe to those who have the means to protect themselves or have little of no value to loose if attacked. chill for a sec though....how about the millions of people that use night buses, the Dangote truck drivers as well as all the other companies? personally when I was in secondary school in Nigeria, we had a field trip (excursion) all the way from Port Harcourt to Jos and we left late so most of the trip was at Night and what can I say....I'm still alive!. We had the schools mopol security with us though but that wouldn't have stopped an ambush if one were to happen and nothing happened. The fact is that people tend to exaggerate these things way to much. 3 Likes |

Ishilove: It is only when they are directly affected, that is when we ever get to the roots of the situation. Take the late Cynthia Osukogu's cas as an example. Her dad is a member of the military elite, that is why her killers were swiftly captured and brought to book. Were it to be the common man, the story ends with the killing.
For years boko haram has terrorised this country, killing thousands and injuring more, decimating families and quenching the joy in lives forever. The government claim to know the sponsors, but never once was a suspect being named. Till date we don't know the outcome of the investigations involving that northern governor who was fin.gered as a boko sponsor. The latest stunt GEJ has pulled is granting pardon to his former boss and state man, Alams; a man who milked Bayelsa dry for years. Fifty three years after independence, we have nothing to show as dividends. All these years, we are still disgracefully technologically primitive and backward.
This country is a disgrace to Africa and the world, and I feel nothing but sheer hate for its ruling class. Inferiority complex just screams from some of you. Why the comparison with the US? its not necessary. We are a developing nation...... Yes? Don't we have less technology and infrastructure? Like!! You guys need to chill. And don't you think the government was absolutely concerned because its the flipping US and the whole world is watching?..... Isn't B.I.G's killer still on the loose after over 16years?, what about 2 PAC's killer? And so many under reported or unpopular murders in the US... Don't get me wrong, i absolutely commend the US police force and the President for apprehending the criminals but I'm tired of the fucking comparison. Finally, my country is not a disgrace to me, if you are tired....then leave!. |
