NYSC / Re: Nysc October Batch Meet Up Zone. by Godwyn(m): 10:47am On Oct 12, 2007
Hi Jerry, I Saw The circular but it only affects choice states like Lagos Abuja & a few others with high corper posting but poor camp facilities according to an NYSC official,Neighbouring states would have to carry d excess load. But I believe she wasnt telling d whole truth as every person in my school that was posted to such choice areas either has an uncle or an aunt working in NYSC or had to part with a ridiculous amount of money.Thats NAIJA 4 You and it sickens me.
Anyway man know man aside I'm looking forward to even better luck in my now very DEAR ONDO state.Hope they don't have OPC sha.just kidding

NYSC / Nysc October Batch Meet Up Zone. by Godwyn(m): 10:37am On Oct 11, 2007
Hi fellow nairalanders, With all the debate about whether or not Service is worthwhile going on and the absolutely ridiculous postings I've read, i think those of us that still have to serve have to psyche ourselves up. Despite the negative comments I'm lookig forward to my stay beginning on Sunday14th Oct. I just got posted to ONDO state and know absolutely nothing about where i'm heading to. Has anyone out there ever been to their camp or heading same way?

Lets all meet up and make ourselves a bit familiar before we meet in camp regardless of where U've been posted.

Any ONDO prospective corpers out there??

@ godwyn, are they like the ones i posted and can u post the pix for me to see?
if its cheaper in warri why have you not bought?
mine still goes for 5k sha.
cheers
As a matter of fact I've bought one and its blasting away in my ears right now and also blasts in my CD 4000watts when I'm at home. And yes they are like the ones in your link. At first I was suspicious with the huge price difference! But later i got to find out why. The one I have is MADE IN CHINA and i feel thats what u also have on offer as no US made will go for less than 15k. They are not all that perfect but they do what they ought to do,though it doesnt look like it will last that long but meanwhile I'm having real fun with it. And i think its worth it at just 4k.

@ primeson, check out this link
https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-81985.0.html

Interesting prices but they seem a bit expensive considering a 4Gig Ipod(not Nano) goes for just 4000 naira in Warri, i also had a store offer to sell an 8 Gig audio Ipod for 9 thousand which i believe would have been brought down if I'd persisted. Is it that its cheaper here or I dont know what I'm buying? Cos a cousin of mine told me a 4 gig goes for about 20k in Cash And Carry there in Lagos. does anyone Know better? cos i'm also desperately in need of one.
Politics / Cnn's Jeff Koinange Fired! by Godwyn(m): 6:59pm On Jun 01, 2007
Perharps this is a parting gift from CNN to OBJ ffor providing them with sensational stories. Remember Jeff who caused a national outcry when he reported in CNN that Nigerians desired the return of the military to power and an even louder outcry when he shot the infamous Niger delta hostages in captivity? this led to a rebuttal from our minister of info. Frank Nweke on CNN but the interviewer JIM CLANCY succeed in making the minister look absolutely ridiculous for describing the report as fictitious and CONTRIVED. Now word is out The Nigerian govt was right afterall (?) and CNN isnt commenting. The bubble burst from a rape incident involving jeff which led to his eexposure now the report ( hostage)has almost been substantiated to be CONTRIVED yet CNN isnt issuing an apology to NIgerians or the Nigerian Govt. this smirks of double standards and perharps confirms it that the cnnn delights in negative reporting.

Education / Re: Project Topic- Please Help by Godwyn(m): 1:34pm On Mar 22, 2007
What school are u ? dont u guys have a library? What were u thinking? ; just type your project topic online and the answers just comes flying in? theres a reason for the word RESEARCH, thats all U have to do if u're sincere about writing a good project and learning in the process.
I just graduated myself and my project writing was the most rewarding part of my 4-year stay in the university. If u're sincere about writing a project the first place U ought to start is your school library! your topic is so interesting i could write endlessly on it (maybe becos i read Economics but U're also a Nigerian and should be familiar with the story.) Anyway if u need further advise on how to go about it just Holla me at 08068551723 and for the sake of nairaland, I'll be at your service.

Career / Re: Ican!only For Accountants? by Godwyn(m): 12:34pm On Mar 08, 2007
U'lld only be limiting yourself if you think ICAN is just for graduates of accountancy. I believe its open for all that can sit for the exam. If u can study hard enough and pass your exam, then that puts you even in a higher footing than pure Accountants.I know of numerous Economists that have excelled in the Accountancy proffession after passing their ICAN exam.
Go for it if u've got the Guts! Though i believe u've got quite a lot to catch up but if u're dedicated its gonna be a piece of cake.

Career / Help On Proffessional Exams And Training For Graduate Of Economics. by Godwyn(m): 11:13am On Mar 06, 2007
Hello Nairalanders I need real help here.I've just completed my Bsc Economics from a state University and I've been sitting at home for quite some time now with little or nothing to do (mostly becos most of the job opportunities available are not worth the time) and it seems I'll have to wait some more as I wont be up for NYSC till some time in June. I'lld luv to improve my Resume as well as my intellectual capacity while I have the time to play with but, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO GO FOR!!!
What proffessional exams are available out there for a Bsc holder?, which would you advise me to go for? Or what kind of training or computer packages would U advise me to acquire while i can?
U'lld be doing someone an enormous fovour if u can help out here. Tanx and looking forward to hearing from y"all.

Career / Re: Masters From Abroad: Is It Worth It? by Godwyn(m): 6:44pm On Feb 19, 2007
Let me approach this from another perspective, Look at the alternative which is getting your first degree say your Bsc abroad thats a minimum of 3years paying in hard currency. But a masters degree means u get to spend half the time and lesser the amount but still earn the respect of your colleagues and employees as a BEEN TO grin
If u have the opportunity dont just hold on to it my brova, GRAB IT!!!!! wink
Career / Re: Economists Make Better Accountants Than Pure Accountants. by Godwyn(m): 6:34pm On Feb 19, 2007
It isnt just about excelling, of course anyone can excel in a chosen field as long as you are dedicated and know what u are up against and prepare for it. The point is there is an obvious advantage as pointed out by Gnature, the analytical skills are enormous.Citing a national example, the case of the CBN readily comes to mind as it was reduced to a mere financial clearing house under the likes of trained accountants like Paul Ogwuma and Joseph Sanusi,it took just one trained Economist, Soludo at the helm of affairs to make the CBN all that we all desire.GET THE POINT? grin
Accountants i believe may not be able to stand the challenge of economists who decide to foray into that field in the nearest future, thats as soon as employers observe this salient point.
Career / Economists Make Better Accountants Than Pure Accountants. by Godwyn(m): 7:03pm On Feb 17, 2007
As a Bsc Economics holder just leaving school the task of making oneself viable in the labour market looks daunting but among various options one begins to eye quite seriously ones chances in the accountancy profession.I believe an Economist suitably qualified in accountancy (of course through ICAN and ACCA) stands a better chance than a pure accountant in our labour market. There are enormous advantages that make me almost question the sense in reading accountancy in a university in the first place.
What do u guys think? Am i wrong? should I go for it or stick to my good old Economics? All honest and UNSENTIMENTAL opinions will be highly appreciated.
