Oga go through this comment and u will see u just saying the same damn thing, the last of what u said is the alternator takes power from the engine. Make una no dey deceive people, AC on consumes more fuel than when u off it. Having ur door glasses down theory is a different topic.

I don't understand how u guys believe an engine put under extra push cus of one using the AC doesn't consume much fuel. If ure speaking with newer models of cars, yes cus of some emerging improvements on the whole system. But don't coman tell me a 2001-2009 cars don't consume more fuel on AC is laughable

she gave me her number n told me to call her later since it was her boyfriend that ordered the trip..

we didnt really talk much during the trip..

i dunno wat to even te her if i call...

Or she was meeting him for the first time, paranoid and indirectly employing you as a guard.
Just a different angle.

For sake of next time let the rider update the trip or better still leave it as is, the distance and time will still be calculated.
One quick tip: always use your discretion when riders ask you to wait for them especially on short trips. Riders are trying to save money and I believe you are trying to make money.
Chose your side wisely.
Kanoski:
quick one guys ..
do i update my new location on bolt..
or i should just continue.
rider said i should not end trip that we will be going somewere else

No body is trying to make you fearful, the message here is to think beyond ehailing. I believe in 5 to 10 years from now, YOU don't want to continue positioning and waiting for requests.
In as much as you need to crawl before you walk, DON'T feel comfortable crawling.

My advice to fellow drivers out their, get a visible camera in your car to avoid something's like this.

You own a car of 1M but can't get camera of 6k is bad abeg.

I have 1 of this and its deliver well for me to avoid any transfer issues.

Especially when those (lekki babes) see the camera recordings although it's for front view alone but the kind fear wey dey catch dem no be here.

One was asking me oga this your camera eh dey recording inside? I replied and said yes for my protection or if rider want to outsmart me with payments, I send him/her my recordings on WhatsApp and in less down 1min I got my money.

It could be anything (lastma, vio, local government agberos, policemen, accident and so on)

And let's us learn to protect ourselves because COVID is real.
Peace

brogxy:

Sorry for this question as the bolded sounded strange to me, did you expect him to wait 48mins for you to get there before you sister steps out of the car?

And as for the route taken, there might be serious traffic congestion on the express that moment or the guy didn't want to get through that BAD express or the guy was dubious by taking the route taken. I believe your sister was awake during the trip, why didn't she object to the route?

What now do you need to contact him for? For Asking your sister to alight after ending the trip?
Or for taking the route?

Disclaimer: I intend not to defend any leader for not doing what they are supposed to do. This space and column is not for such as at the time of writing.
Oga Dru when it comes to people going abroad for treatment sometimes it is a matter of class and levels. Eg: you can treat cancer in Nigeria but some would prefer going abroad. The same way you choose Mobil 1 over other cheaper synthetic oil.
I will lose count with my hands of Americans that travel all the way to Malaysia for medical tourism. Is it that America doesn't have a 'good healthcare system'? (I will not answer that because Covid was and is still and eye opener.)

Truth be told, the main reason for "nonsense" driving in Nigeria, apart from consequences, is because majority of people don't LEARN to drive anymore. Commuters ain't got any clue of road rules.
Reason:
Because it is an automatic transmission they just enter, start, engage the gear and zoom. Some even drive without supervision.
Higher percentage of ones that drive with supervision inherited the errors of their supervisors and the cycle goes on and on.

You will still need the MIC, don't off it yet.
In context of you referring to life expectancy of stick drivers was not about health care system.
So don't shift the goal post.
It is no news that Nigeria healthcare system s**ks, so that one is out of the argument.
As for drivers being able to afford healthcare, it is a matter of someone letting people know that you can have a health insurance for as low as N1k per month.
dru23:

Another learner on the arising... .. How many Nigeria drivers can afford health care .... Come to think of itself Europeans have a better health care system than Yankee. Talkless of Nigeria .. Make I off Mic

I have never visited their website. Bros when it comes to site traffic and making money, as long as there is no banner ad or they are not cold calling you to sell you anything. THEY ARE NOT MAKING ANY SHI SHI.
And that is where investors money comes in. They might be getting the company's share for cents of a dollar now. If the business succeeds tomorrow dey don blow be dat. And if it fails, it is what it is.
That is what they might be spending at the moment, investors money.

NB: This is what some guys (Nigerians) that want to compete with Uber and Bolt do not understand. They think it ends with deploying an app on App store, BOOM! And they don blow and send foreign app companies packing.
I always laugh in Pinyin.

They are not making money yet. They want riders and drivers to be used to the brand before they start charging for their service.
My projection:
Whenever they deem right to start getting paid, anything more than 10% commission or a SUBSCRIPTION model; they have worked for nothing. Arguably, most drivers like oloshos would port to a more favorable company.

Nice one.

donfortune48:

A little observation..

If He/She transferred with the bank app, you can go once it's successful and He/She got debited.

But if it's USSD code transfer, please wait till you get an alert or confirm that the money have reflected in your account.

80% of failed/reversed transactions were done using USSD code. I've strictly observed this. And I've never seen a successful App transfer reversed yet.
Business / Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Gogettaz: 2:11am On Jan 29, 2021
Fake Alerts and Rider Scam:

I don't reject transfer except if you are going to the airport or Lagos island. But you MUST agree to wait for confirmation before I release my bank account details. The only confirmation I care about is the one from my phone.
N:B there are exceptions though; if you are sitting in the from and I follow the whole transfer process from A-Z.

These tips could help-
1. Try to have as much account from different banks as you can.

2. If a rider asks "which bank", reply with "which one are you sending from let's see if I can save you some transfer fee?"
The idea of saving them transfer fee cancels the perception of being rude. An average rider believes they are better than you.

3. If you don't have every other bank, try to have Access in your toolkit. From experience it delivers alert swiftly.

4. If a rider starts to tell you how his Benz is costing him serious money or how he just bought a car for his girlfriend. (You know those kind of unsolicited gist) BE ON YOUR GUARD.

5. If for example a rider trip is from Agungi to Chevron and on getting to Chevron you are pitching going to Egbeda in the next couple of hours to me. Bros, I can wait for your alert for the next 45 minutes. Don't get greedy.

6. Don't get greedy, if you are waiting for an alert and 2.4x surge enters am not leaving without seeing your money. A bird at hand... And it takes an average surge more than 5 minutes to vanish completely.

7. To minimize waiting time for payment confirmation, of you are not a fan of bank App be sure to have internet banking. They let you know what's up even when text alert delays.

Guard your money guys, you worked for it. They are not doing you favours.

I would advice you go in with as lower equity as possible. Since you don't like popular brands, if you can find a good non problematic car at half the price of the 2011 Elantra, go for it.
Peugeots are great if you can handle the stress of manual transmission.

As for getting to destination, you will learn on the job. Just believe in yourself and smart up.

Idaytesj29:
Hello good people, I am about to start Uber business, I will own my car and drive it personally. I am looking at getting 2011 Hyundai Elantra for it and relocate to Lagos for the business.

My question is

Is my intended car and year okay for uber? Cos I am not a Toyota person, infact I don't like popular brand, I currently cruise a Peugeot.

Secondly, as someone very new to Lagos, not totally cos I did my masters in Unilag, will I be able to get by finding the riders destinations?

Thank you

You have a valid point about old trips being rated later.
Pearl1910:

My rating changed 4times, in less than 40trips. From 4.98 as at 4th of Jan to 4.93, 4.88, 4.80 and 4.73 as at 11th of January.

I cancelled a lot of trips this period as usual but I still don't believe its cos of cancellation cos I was cancelling when my rating was going up.

Obviously I didn't do upto 160 trips (40x4), 40 being the required number of rated trips to calculate current rating. So current trips alone couldn't have changed my rating 4 times.

That left me with the conclusion that old trips where rated much later. so when we see rating changing abruptly we think its cos of cancellation. No, ur old rides have just been rated recently.

But u still have a point about Bolt punishing drivers for picking trips after seeing destination and still cancelling without getting to destination and waiting for minimum 5mins. I think this is worthy of investigation by we drivers. So let's do it, guys with high rating should help lead this research.

BOLT RATING; MY EXPERIENCE

Note this is based on personal experience. While I will try to make you understand my numbers, I will NOT use exact figures. (E get Y)

I drove last in November 2020, resumed driving this January and only driven for 5 days.
My overall completed trips within these days are less than 50 which is about 60% of all incoming requests.
Now during these 5 days my rating has changed 3 times. I mean it 3 times.
Hence I wonder why the frequent change in the current rating?

My position:
Bolt has changed their algorithm to punish drivers that select trips.
Think about it; drivers can now see rider destination and have the luxury of selecting which trip to honor. So as a way to force you to accept and complete almost all trips, they make you aware of account BLOCKAGE. Who wants that?

Proposed solution:
Instead of arguing for hours on end could we try and decipher the code behind driver rating?
Let us check parameters that might be embedded in their execution.

Come forward if your activity score is less than 85% and your current rating is greater than 4.85 stars.

If there accounts with the above characteristics then my bias is FALSE.

If you headed towards VGC/Ajah and you intend returning towards Lekki, you may need to abort mission. Traffic headed inbound VI is madt. From 2nd toll gate up to about Osapa.
Reason is unknown to me. A rider am taking to Opic just aborted her mission.
This is around 1:30pm November 13.

Calm down bro
Those are actually sensitive, that you still have your account is because Bolt developers have other things to worry about.
In fact, I don't know you, I don't know your name but let Bolt give me access to their data; I will find you and I may BLOCK you.
Olayetan:

You guys will just carry phone and type anything that comes to your hands.

Pls what sensitive confidential have i disclosed here, is my name on bolt disclosed?

Is my number attached to bolt disclosed?

Can you tell me how I'm risking my account for any possible block....

Una go just come here and be misusing the 'Sensitive' word as if you are the only sensible person while others reasons with their hands....

FYI, bolt themself knows the hours asked to be spent online is much, you will only kill yourself with work if you stay online to get request while they care less if you breakdown through the over work.

& you didn't inflate any fare, you never cheated any customer, you only stayed online by giving yourself a fake request which you didn't even embark on do they ain't that dumb to flag that as fraud or whatever.
