Celebrities / Re: Omotola Blasts Lagos Government And PHCN by Gorodomu: 1:58pm On Apr 02, 2016
The problem is not taxation per say,Nigeria operates one of d lowest tax regimes in d entire world.I think its d improper application of d proceeds of tax. Each tax imposed on d citizen shld be for a specific purpose and not d present situation where ur tax money is muddled up with other revenue streams meaning ur 50 naira cld be paying for the flamboyant reception of guests at ur state govs daughters wedding.
Politics / Re: Sagay, Ezekwesili, Aribisala Clash At Roundtable On Corruption War by Gorodomu: 8:56pm On Mar 31, 2016
Hmmmmmm,On a good day Aribisala is a joker but he raised some valid points,
1.Our institutions need to be strong,d present structure of Efcc and Icpc cannot make it fight corruption effectively.Corruption agencies shld be controlled by an independent judiciary to ensure even d president can be investigated.
2.A system that allows a president to withdraw directly from d treasury without any form of check in place is definitely faulty,if we recover all d loot stolen by GEJ and co and we fail to change d system,it will grow wings again.
3.Drs no
how u can justify d fact that only petitions against PDP members see d light of day,any corrupt politician be it Apc or Pdp shld face d music squarely.
Finally Oga Sagay,U wld have simply made ur point without touching pples sense of self importance,I wonder hw old men like sagay who watched as Nigeria degenerated into its present situation think dy have d right to put down anybody.

softvio:

but you don't think PMB the MPR to resign? Traits of a hypocrite
So it was PMB that claims he needs magic to do his job?SMH for Nigerians and dr linear thinking. If you employ a staff and he tells u he is not a magician in d face of challenging deliverables wat wld u do?Anyway I dont blame U,it is a system dat has groomed pple so daft and uninformed dat dy ask so little frm dr leaders.Pple like Kachikwu knws dis and wld never say dis to his former employer.Come, do U even knw d reason for d present scarcity?Don't annoy me dis morg ooooooo!
Politics / Re: Fuel Scarcity: APC Asks Kachikwu To Resign, Silent On Buhari The Oil Minister by Gorodomu: 3:04am On Mar 28, 2016
Kachikwu's statement is not only ridiculous but also insensitive and I think its in order for his party leadership to ask him to resign if d seat is too hot for him.Fuel scarcity is a product of inconsistent policy and incompetent management. The MPR has not only failed to make our refineries work,dy have also messed up d importation process.
Politics / Re: "Nobody Can Stop Us From Moving Our Cattle Around Nigeria"-fulani Herdsmen Warns by Gorodomu: 4:22pm On Mar 27, 2016
The fulani issue is greatly misunderstood.Amongst d fulani U have renegades who terrorize even d cattle rearers themselves. They own automatic weapons have camps and trade in stolen cattle. Some are also available for hire as paid fighters and rob on d highway.
Another common misconception is that d fulani's own all d cattle u see on our roads and farms,I know a state commissioner in one of d SW states with hundreds of cows scattered all over d state,he employs fulani boys to herd them and I tell u dy are free to roam anywr.
Its really a complex issue with lots of powers at play,d fulani man destroying ur crops might just b working for ur state governors SA on environmental matters.

Abeg shut up. You are saying two different things are the same time. You say govt cant fix exchange rate in one breath, then u also agree govt is fixing it at 197. If you dont knw what to say, pls be quiet!
So ure having issues with comprehension and ure here making comments on issues far beyond what u can easily understand. Why not show both responses to a J S 1 kid around you for proper interpretation?

blackpanda:

Na wa o. When they said you shld go to school, u refused. Have u been sleeping since or living under a cave
Nigerian govt is actively in control of the exchange rate. Thats why CBN keeps selling at 197 eventhough blackmarket is 312. Were u asleep when Buhari refused to devalue

And btw stop lieing about spending your funds for this govt, cos your comments shows your criticisms arent constructive in the slightest. You are just a regular wailer trying to disguise as a supporter!
And d use of abusive words shows u went to school? How ignorant can u be?Do u think exchange rate is controlled by government pronouncement? Please its basic economics, govt. can only peg d rate if it can provide a reasonable amount of fx to meet demand.Ignorance is d reason pple like u fail to decern simple inference. How does PMB intend to get d fx to keep CBN rate at 197 in d face of dwindling income?D simple answer is what his economic advisers are not telling him,d CBN rate has virtually no effect on real rate as business owners including banks continue to use black market rate for most transactions. There is a time to dip ur tail in btw ur legs and run,I'm quite sure part of my funds is used to pay you for e-ratting,but like I always tell pple elections are over and we've won.We must not let Nigerians down.

Bevista:
TBH, I am now convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Nigeria's problems is beyond leadership, but a societal one. Are we just intellectually deficient or chronically prejudiced.
---
This was an interview where the Minister was specifically asked about the exchange rate situation. He tried to explain the factors that influence the rate making reference to oil price. He simply said the SITUATION (exchange rate) was beyond the president since he does not control oil price. He never said the ECONOMY was beyond the President’s control as misrepresented by the media.
---
How the media gets away with such mischief is beyond me. Worse still is the fact that 80% of readers do not even notice this distortion of facts. These are people that will later assume leadership positions. With such shallowness among citizens, the future is even more uncertain.
Seems ure d one with deficient intellect, why on earth will a govt. accept that anything is beyond its control?
If PMB cannot control d exchange rate why then is he pegging it?
D exchange rate is a fundamental part of d economy, govt. policies seek to stabilize, increase or decrease it depending on d motive.
If PMB's policy cannot control d exchange rate is it Iya Basira's policy dat will increase d value of d naira?
I supported PMB's campaign and even spent my personal money to ensure he wins, but lets call a spade a spade.

Same goes for his comtempoaries in other states,I think that was d golden era of state governance.
Massive estates,Sectariats and Industries found in all SW states were built during this period.I think we should study what factors contributed to this impressive growth.

I really dont understand Nigerians, are we saying she did wrong by demanding d authorities do all in dr power to rescue d chibok girls?Hw can any sane person not be enraged?GEJ really did not do enof on d chibok issue, the fact dat APC politicized it is anoda matter entirely.
Oby has always raised cogent issues, our legislators prefer taking selfies and twitting rather than sponsoring sensible bills, the debate on d floor is so porous at times I wonder if dy read at all. Most student union parliaments will fare better than our so called honorable members.

Ifeanyi Ubah is a noise maker and can hardly thrive without shady deals and political patronage. Can u imagine any of those regularly llisted in forbes leading a campaign group for a particular candidate or contesting elections under a mushroom party?
Can a sane business man claim to have d ability to control exchange rate?
Uba is a joke and only jokers will take him seriously.

Ignorance is a serious issue,So u all expect her to wear her normal everyday dress for a photoshoot!Of cos TY bello dressed her up for d photo session after discovering d potential in her.She actually sells bread for a living and this has been verified countless times.A world class organization like stanbic ibtc will not associate itself with anything questionable.
Why do we have d notion dat only educated pple can impact knowledgeHer life on d streets hawking bread is enough experience to earn her a place at d podium. Please lets stop all dis vertical thinking and learn how to interprete situations properly.
Politics / Re: Ben-Bruce Promotes Made-In-Aba Products (pics) by Gorodomu: 10:02pm On Feb 09, 2016
What exactly is made in AbaAll I can see is cut and sew products that don't even have original design. Is d fabric used in all dis poorly designed oufits made in Aba?or d artificial leather used in d sandals?or even d cast metal buckles and clips? We need to break away frm all dis poo. What we need are industries turning our cotten into fabrics, our palm into industrial and edible oil, cocoa into beverages and cosmetics, crude into plastic products and allied chemicals etc. not all dis poorly trainned artisans wasting our fx to import materials for low quality products dat cost more in d long run.

Brilliant write up,but sadly d few comments show we are not ready to change.Always blaming others or d govt.I wonder if d person who closed d sea port south of d Niger also blocked d land and air route.Instead of tackling d real problems of incompetence, corruption and ignorance dat kill Nigerian industries we keep blaming everyone but ourselves.Nobody has stopped Aba frm exporting its shoes or onitsha frm selling its wears in Malaysia. The question u shld ask is wy hasnt d Aba shoe maker grown over d years? What is preventing Aba designers frm competiing with dr peers in europe?

So much uninformed statements.Nigeria has several industries both large and medium scale producing pencils, ball point pens and even d much talked about toothpick. The only challenge is cost which is discouraging many investors. Our new govt. shld leave all dis drama and hasty statements and focus on critical areas dat will drive our economy.Regular power supply,Rail transport to all major cities to ease movement of raw materials and finished goods ard d country and security is all we need for crying out loud!Govt. agency to start production of pencils?Onu shld apologise to Nigerians.A minister dat shld be talking abt space technology to reduce data cost and nuclear energy to provide temproary relief in d power sector is going abt making fallacious statements.Nwanne take time o!
