*Encomiums for Minister of State for Education, Rt Hon Opiah Over Fed Poly Nekede Second Campus in Egbema*

The Minister of State for Education, Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah has received enormous praises for the second campus granted the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Owerri, Imo State at Abaezi, Egbema, in Ohaji/Egbema LGA of Imo State.

The Federal Government some weeks ago graciously made available the Skills Acquisition Centre premises in Abaezi, Egbema, the homestead of Rt Hon Opiah, built by the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta, a second campus of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede.

In appreciation of the efforts of the Minister of State for Education in the realization of this giant stride, the management of the institution led by the Rector, Engr Dr Micheal C.Arimanwa expressed happiness on the efforts of the Minister of States for Education for giving Poly Nekede a second campus after more than three decades of existence.

The institution in a letter of appreciation to the Minister signed by Engr Dr Arimanwa, during the thank you visit to his office at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja, disclosed that the priceless assistance Rt Hon Opiah rendered cannot be overlooked in the acquisition of the second campus.

The letter reads “the Governing Council, Management, Staff and Students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede profoundly appreciate the Honourable Minister of Education (State) Rt Hon Goodluck Nanah Opiah for the invaluable assistance rendered to us in the acquisition of the second campus at Abaezi, Egbema In Imo State

“The news of the approval of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari to bequeath an already built-up campus to our institution was received with a lot of joy and fanfare”

The Fed Poly Nekede team on the visit showcased joy over the efforts of Rt Hon Opiah who was instrumental to the acquisition of the second campus at Abezi, Egbema.

It would be recalled that Rt Hon Opiah during his tenure as Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly In 2007-2011 ensured that the Imo State State Government converted the Micheal Okpara College Of Agriculture, Umuagwo Ohaji, a monotechnic in his constituency, to Imo State Polytechnic, before recent upgrading to University of Agriculture and Environment Sciences.

Did election hold in Orlu and Orsu LGAs?

Did Orlu residents come out to vote ??

The results reflects that.

You can only rig effectively if there's a good voters turnout.
Nobody rigged in Orlu the results reflects voting by party agents only same can be said of Orsu LGA.
But ORU EAST that hope Uzodinma rigged had a high voters turnout apart from Awomama where he snatched ballot boxes

Instead of you to channel your criticisms to Hope Uzodimma and his cohorts who are shamelessly manipulating and scuttling votes in Orlu zone, you are insulting Ndi Orlu..
I am beginning to believe some of the things that Ncheche guy has been saying ..

According to the budget, there's a proposal to establish a zoo at ikeduru LGA.

Maybe that's why the relocation issh, definitely imo state government can't relocate the zoo to Jos haha.

Probably experts were brought in from Jos to facilitate the exercise.

As for the estate development rumors, I believe it's true, the location is too prime for a zoo to be there, it's in the city center axis, should be at the outskirts of the City.

#HURRAY! FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC NEKEDE ACQUIRES SECOND CAMPUS

In another historic feat, the pace-setting Federal Polytechnic Nekede has acquired a second campus. This comes after a period of rigorous effort in this regard by the Rector and his team of Management.

Disclosing this last Thursday, the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. Michael Chidiebere Arimanwa, stated that the approval for the new campus had been given by the President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, through a letter dated 12th January, 2023.

Located at Egbema, Imo State, the second campus is a finished project with state-of-the-art facilities. It was originally built as a modern skill acquisition centre by the Ministry of Niger Affairs.

A tour on the facility last Thursday by a joint team of officials from the Ministry of Niger Delta and the polytechnic revealed that the site boasts of modern classrooms, workshops, hostels, staff quarters, auditorium and sports complex, among others.

It is expected to contribute significantly to the long-expected expansion of the institution, which has been a leading polytechnic in Nigeria. Ultimately, the new campus is expected to accommodate disciplines that are over 80% practical- oriented.

The formal hand-over ceremony of the second campus is expected to be performed by Mr President in few weeks. After this, some Schools of the institution would be moved to the new campus. The need for a second campus has been on the front burner for some time, prompting the Rector to swing to action on how to solve the problem. There are disciplines in the institution which simply require demonstration sites. For instance, all the disciplines in the School of Agricultural Technology require demonstration farms, by the standards of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

The first revelation on the possibility of a new campus was made last October by the Rector where he stated thus: “My administration is working hard to get a second campus for the polytechnic in view of the limited space for agricultural demonstration and other academic practical activities. The campus will be located at Ohaji/Egbema.

"Essentially, we shall site our agricultural demonstration centre, demonstration centres and skill acquisition centre there. The entrepreneurial centre is envisioned to train and certify people with low qualifications so that they would be skilled and useful to the society in the areas of brick laying, welding and so on. People coming for this type of programme do not necessarily need credit passes in English and Mathematics or other core courses.

"Already, a directorate of skill acquisition has been inaugurated and very soon we shall have students whom we are going to formally train in hands-on skills.”

The news of a second campus for the polytechnic has been described as a landmark development. A stakeholder in the institution has poured encomiums on the Rector, Engr. Dr. Michael Arimanwa and members of his Management for being creative and proactive in repositioning the polytechnic for greatness.

Another stakeholder described the Rector as a pragmatic leader who is full of ideas and innovations on how to make the polytechnic better.

There is a consensus, meanwhile, that the acquisition of a second campus by the polytechnic is of the legacies which the Arimanwa administration is bequeathing to an institution which the Rector has many times described as “my noble almamater”.

In a recent chat with the press, the Rector had further described his journey at the polytechnic thus: “Federal Polytechnic Nekede did not become the best performing polytechnic by chance. A large percentage of my life has been spent here. I schooled here as I obtained both my ND and HND certificates here. I went to the university to acquire further qualifications after which I came back to work here as a staff and now as chief executive. I started schooling here in 1982; that is to tell you how long in have been here.”

Already, preparations for the hand-over ceremony have begun. The Management has constituted a committee for the purpose. It is another date with history for the Rector who has particularly been consistent in making the institution visible through innovative ideas and infrastructural revolution.

The skill acquisition center built by Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs at Ohaji Egbema LGA has been approved as a second campus for Federal polytechnic Nekede Owerri by PMB, this was disclosed by the Rector of the institution during inspection at the facility. Formal handover will be done in few weeks.

Though the defunct marine university at oguta LGA is been given to futo to relocate it's department of maritime engineering to it.

Kudos to Hope Uzodinma and Rochas okorocha

Yeah I get you,but as much as the state is tilting towards diversification, the mainstay that emblazoned her name globally must be reinvigorated.

That Ihiagwa ongoing bridge project after its completion should serve as a precursor to a green- themed leisure park with a bridge view.

Some random pics

MCC road has just been completed

Focus will shift towards ihiagwa futo road

Though the outstanding stretch of Owerri ring road that connects MCC road to Eke megbu oha River has also been awarded.

The amusement park success stories will spore more investments in that sector am super sure of it.

More hotels is welcomed so far as it's human beings working there and not robots grin
