Education / Nin Before Jamb Registration 2020 by Greatmindpress: 3:35pm On Nov 12, 2019 |
In view of this, we deem it necessary to provide prospective UTME candidates with the guidelines to register and obtain their NIN before the 2020 UTME registration begins as the registration is expected to commence soon. What to know About NIN? NIN simply means National Identification Number. It consists of 11 non- intelligible numbers randomly chosen and assigned to an individual after the completion of enrolment into the National Identity Database (NIDB). Once a NIN is assigned to an individual, it can never be reassigned, given or used by another person – that makes it unique in nature. In the case of the demise of an individual, his/her NIN is retired once a death certificate is presented to the Commission and the individual’s death is established. The NIN is used to tie all records about an individual in the database and is also used to establish or verify his/her identity. All citizens and legal residents in Nigeria, from age zero (birth) and above are eligible to enrol for their NINs. NIN Registration Process Supporting Documents Walk into the nearest NIMC Enrolment Centre with your BVN if you have one and any of the following required Original and Valid supporting documents: 1. Old National ID Card 2. Driver’s License 3. Voter’s card (Temporary or Permanent) 4. Nigerian International passport 5. Certificate of Origin 6. Attestation letter from a prominent ruler in your community 7. Birth certificate 8. Declaration of age 9. Attestation letter from religious/traditional leader 10. NHIS ID card 11. Government staff ID card 12. Registered/recognized private organization staff ID card 13. School ID Card (private/public) 14. Tax Clearance certificate 15. STEPS Applicants are to walk into the enrolment Centre with a supporting document. Applicant will be verified to ascertain if he/she has ever enrolled using the NIN verification portal. Applicant will be issued an enrolment form to fill if he/she has not enrolled before. OR the printed Barcode slip (for those who applied online) will be collected if the applicant had pre-enrolled earlier using the pre-enrolment service. Applicant’s forms will be vetted by a NIMC Official to crosscheck the information filled on the form against the supporting document provided and to check for errors/mistake filled on the form. Note: applicants who cannot read nor write should be accompanied by a literate individual who can do the form filling for him/her. Applicant’s pre-filled information will be inputted on the NIMC Software by a NIMC enrolment officer or the Barcode slip will be scanned by the NIMC enrolment officer to populate all the required field. The enrolment officer will ask the applicant to double check his/her information for errors using the applicant monitor. If the applicant is satisfied with his/her demographic information, the biometrics (ten finger prints and facial image) of the applicant will be capture subsequently. After completing the enrolment, a Transaction ID Slip will be issued to the applicant as an evidence of the transaction. However, the Transaction slip does not confer the right to National Identification Number. The applicant will be requested to come back for the NIN within 1-5 working days, as it is subjected to availability of network, authentication and verification. A National Identification Number (NIN) Slip is issued to the applicants after processing. The National e-ID Card will be Issued to applicant within 12months after Issuance of NIN barring any unforeseen circumstances. Education / JAMB Denies Parents Right To Make Changes To Candidates’ Profiles As From 2020 U by Greatmindpress: 3:21pm On Nov 12, 2019 |
JAMB Denies Parents Right To Make Changes To Candidates’ Profiles As From 2020 UTME Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has stated that parents, guardians and other proxies of candidates have been barred henceforth from making changes to the data page or profile of candidates for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). According to the board, only candidates could henceforth make such changes in their data page or profile. This development was contained in a letter by its Director of Test Administration Department, on behalf of the Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede. The letter reads: “It has been observed that there are cases of conflict on authorisation of changes on candidates’ data, majorly between candidates and their parents or guardians. This is in addition to fraudsters taking advantage of the naivety of some candidates to collect their vital access codes to effect unauthorised changes on a candidate’s profile. “Consequently, nobody, including parents or guardians or any proxy, should be allowed to transact any business on any candidate’s profile. No third party should be allowed access into or alter the profile of any candidate at any of the board’s offices or any Computer-Based Test centres. “Only candidates themselves (not with anybody, any agent or parent/guardian) should be entertained to conduct transactions on their profile at the board’s offices and the computer-based test centres. There is no exception to this instruction. The letter equally directed all JAMB Zonal and state offices and accredited and approved CBT centres to strictly comply with this instruction without any waiver or use or misuse of discretion. It added that JAMB's system is automated to monitor, report and alert on access and alteration on every candidate’s profile, including providing information on the person, the place and the system or facilities that transacted such activities and any person or centre that fails to comply with this directive will be sanctioned. |

The board also has disclosed that it would no longer need to capture the biometrics of candidates during UTME registration next year as the information of candidates required by the board would be uploaded from the data captured by the NIMC for registration. Commenting on this, the JAMB’s Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, explained that the NIN would be guard against all forms of registration infractions. Buhari’s anti-corruption fight targets UTME candidates as Jamb intensifies probe Buhari’s anti-corruption fight targets UTME candidates as Jamb intensifies probe – The anti-corruption fight of President Muhammadu Buhari is in full swing on candidates of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has intensified probe into cases of malpractices during the computer based test. Financial Watch gathered JAMB; the examination body is seriously vetting the results of the 2019 UTME which explains why the results of the examination are yet to be released. Already, The Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede has warned that thousands of candidates who sat for this year’s UTME would have their results withheld for engaging in examination malpractices. No fewer than 100 candidates were arrested nationwide by security operatives for various examination malpractices. Our correspondent learnt that the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and would be charged to court at the completion of investigations. The board confirmed the arrest in a bulletin released on Monday, noting that the crimes ranged from multiple registrations, ghost writing to impersonation. It said, “No fewer than 100 candidates have been picked up by security agencies nationwide as part of efforts to sanitise the examination process. Among those arrested was a candidate who registered 64 times in a bid to take the examination for 64 candidates, since the examination ran for seven days and had an average of three shifts per day per centre. “The arrests of the culprits were made possible by the compulsory identity checks conducted on the candidates, with a view to fishing out professional ghost writers.” The Board have also launched investigations into the credentials of applicants dating back to 2009who in one way or the other involved in examination malpractices. This implies that persons who cheated the system to pass the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to get into school and may have even graduated and participated in the National Youth Service Corps will be arrested and their certificates withdrawn. |

JAMB UNCOVERS NEW SCAM, ADVISES CANDIDATES TO KEEP REGISTRATION NUMBERS SECRET. According to Greatmind Media The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed the new way fraudsters have employed to defraud UTME candidates. The Registrar of The Board Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who disclosed this in a weekly news bulletin which was released yesterday by the organization’s Head of Media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin. He advised all candidates to “jealously guard their UTME registration numbers and profile codes to avoid falling victim of this latest scam”. According to him, what these fraudsters do is to take advantage of their naivety and subsequently obtain their registration numbers with which they print their examination notifications slips, which contain the candidates’ phone number and other vital data. These fraudsters then use the information to send a message to same candidates disguising as officials of the Board or persons who have special information, access and capacity to inflate the candidates’ scores among other things. He added that the fraudsters use the information deprived of the examination notification slip printed, using the candidates registration number to open up a line of communication with candidates to dangle the enticing offer of awarding them higher scores in the yet-to-released 2019 UTME results among other mouth-watering information. The registrar advised candidates to disregard message or calls from anybody claiming to have access to the Board’s classified information. The board wished to state emphatically that the results of the 2019 UTME have not been released, “the registrar added” It also urged the public, particularly parents and candidates, to be wary of these dubious elements and disregard any overtures made by anybody touting their power or influence to inflate any candidate’s score. The board will make it public when the results are ready. As such, the channel through which candidates can view their results has been communicated to them. In the meantime, security operatives have picked up some of these nefarious characters and they are on the trail of others still at large, “it further added |

Kurfi, APC, Kastina Central and entitled, "The need to revisit the regulatory conflict between Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Universities admission in Nigeria."
