culture is the customes and the custumes, the characters and the characteristics, the manners and mannerisms, the orient and the orientation, the philosophy and the ideology of our people. Culture is the totality of the people's experiences. Culture is the way of life of the people. ---Amb Yusuf Maitama Sule.

Religion / Is The Man Who Cannot Provide For His Family Really Worse Than An Infidel? by gst101: 11:12pm On Jul 30, 2012
the bible says 'THE ONE WHO cannot provide for his family IS WORSE than an infidel'. I want your take on the verse. This verse is so common among christ embassy members so i believe they can tell us more. I also want to hear from ladies. Its really important. Do you, as a lady, prefer your man to cheat on you to your man not to able to provide for you? If yes, would you have thought other wise if it weren't written in the bible?

....count me out of this, with all those Alaye(area boys) infested neighbourhoods in Lagos,it is simply the wildest dream ever!
do we have as many alayes in lagos than there are in brazil? Remember the govt had to deploy the millitary heavily armed like they were going to war to the slums of rio last year. This is a country according to dangote has mor private security than the country's armed forces put together. Does this seem like a safe country to you? But the citizens are not rubbishing their country like we are doing which is the reason why they are hosting the world in 2 and 4 years time
Sports / Re: Should Eko Atlantic City Bid For 2028 Olympics by gst101: 7:06am On Jul 29, 2012
if lagos were to go for the olympics against the likes of paris, new york, et al, i believe lagos will get it if we show real determination and zeal which translates to visible things on ground. Lagos can simply ride on the fact that no african city has ever hosted it.

The only reason why a lagos bid will fail is that there will be no moral support from nigerians ourselves. It is then we would start hearing the nonsense that people are talking about here.

Unless you can control the minds of all nigerians, and change the political shambles that is in our country i dont see that happening. How do you get rid of the massive corruption, and not to mention disturbing and absurd terrorism plaguing our country?? You speak of brazil also being a developing country and being corrupt, but does brazil have the same level of corruption as nigeria or to say the jihad craving terrorist brutally murdering its people?!?
india has so much corruption much more than nigeria and they pulled the commonwealth games

if you have withnessed unfairness at the hands of some men, if you saw your mother beaten right before you by her husband just for no reason at all, well i feel sorry for you, but going about setting up movements, campaigning for that which is, in most cases, senseless and a pure demonstration of anger isnt the way forward! I think what you need is to seek help!

Not like men do not suffer so much at the hands of women! What do you want us to say then? Shall we say women are not important to us anymore and go on off to exibit the kind of aggressive character feminists exibit toward us?

Romance / Re: Women Empowerment And Its Wahala !!! by gst101: 10:11pm On Jul 28, 2012
feminists are angry that men are the ones at the helm of affairs and i do not think they have the right to be angry.
The reason we men run things in this world has got nothing to do with our physique, our muscles, our 'ego', as people call it, or that which we have in between our legs.

Our being at the top is about atributes. Our courage, our strenght in character, our fearlessness, and our less reliance on emotions to push us to act. It is the aggregate of these characters that has put us where we are. And unfortunately, those attributes i listed above are found more among men than women. This also explains why not every man is up there becos not all men have those characters. It also explains why, in a male domineted world, some women have actually made their mark. The likes of margret thatcher, jazebel, cleopatra, queen amina et al.

Let us not forget that these women are called iron ladies. This is becos they have got all the atributes i mentioned above, atributes that are more associated with men.

With all i have said above, you can see its not only pointless, its also senseless for women to get uncomfortable seeing men at the top. They should stop envying us and stop looking at us wishing they were in our shoes; that we are beneath their feet!
Romance / Re: Women Empowerment And Its Wahala !!! by gst101: 9:00pm On Jul 28, 2012
my dear op. I am a man and i do not agree with you. I think they should be empowered so that the society will be better off. But yes women have to be careful were they are taking this femiwhatever becos it makes them more worthless!
Imagine eu trying to impose a law on all companies to give quota to women in the board. But the truth is; when we have say 10 women going for 2 available jobs (and the jobs must go to women by virtue of quota sys) and men are the ones to give out this jobs. It will become so easy for the men to have their way with the women making them more like objects. So you can see that that policy which, stemed out of feminiDAMN sorry feminism, is counter productive!

Women do not want to work. They want things to be given to them on a platter of gold. What happens to hard work? I careless if a woman is at the top of affairs. As for me, no man can ever be a threat to me talkless of a woman! The sky is large enough for so many birds to fly at the same time.
Sports / Re: Should Eko Atlantic City Bid For 2028 Olympics by gst101: 8:23pm On Jul 28, 2012
all of you doubting our abilities are only deluded. Nigeria as we stand now can afford the olympics. Or budget ever year is about 30bn dollar and we fund it without foreign aid.

Nigeria needs to host the olympic games. This is becos, the much needed infrastructure will be put in place. Not even the politicians would want the country's name to be draged in the mud. Third world countries never get serious about anything until that which they call national dignity is at stake

@norabenok, what you have said is not true. The people with the largest number of students in nigeria are the yorubas. Just as business takes you across the world, it is education that takes the yorubas across naija and the world. It is a known fact that the yorubas dominate unis in their land and in other parts of the country including the east, they drag dominance with the indegenes of that state

odumchi:
There are Igbo in the following 9 states: Abia, Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Delta, Rivers, Ebonyi, Edo, and Benue (if you count the LGA the Igbo share).

In addition to misrepresenting the extent of Igboland, you misrepresented the extent of Hausaland. Hausaland encompasses several Northern states namely; Kano, Kaduna, Sokoto, Gombe, Jigawa, Zamfara, Bauchi, and Niger.

I'm still yet to understand why Benue and Kogi should even be considered for admission (not that it's going to happen, though) into the South East while there are millions of Igbo scattered in other areas.
pls kindly educate us. Which LGA in benue will you find igbo indegene

Culture / Idoma Promiscuous-conservative Paradox by gst101: 3:50am On Jul 26, 2012
all over, the idoma people and indeed the people of benue as a whole are seen as being promiscuous. But the idoma people are one of the most conservative tribes in nigeria when it comes to intimate relationship between a man and a woman.

In all of idoma land apart from otukpo, there is a long history of alekwu (spiritsof ancestors). These spirits protect, reward and also punish any one who goes contrary to the morals, norms, cultures and traditions as laid down by the elders of a family or clan. One area i know the idoma people have conservative laws is in matters relating to s3x. For the sake of time and data plan, i am not going to go into all of the traditions but for those of you who know better about the tradition, you can help me.

i cant understand the paradox. some one more informed should pls explain to me. I know in otukpa the law is most conservative.

whats your prob with this life expectancy you are always talking about? How did anybody arrive at that figure. I have never seen any one come around our houses taking data before. The only reason why those figures exist is becos no one has questioned it.

It is not in lagos life expectancy is low. This is becos the quality of life, acess to health care is available. Lagosians are not the nigerians that live below a dollar a day. This is true becos 2 dollar is not enough to take you around. And lagosians are always on the move.

it is highly unafrican to speak bad about the dead hence the saying 'dont speak evil of the dead'. Ghana deserves the condolence even though when it happened to us they where here insulting naija and yar'adua. Shame unto the those southern nigerians who are insulting ghana. I guess that is your mentality when you are from the forest (yorubaland), creeks and the gully erosions

@ angel of valor. Stop been hipocrite! Your people are not too diff from the yorubas you are pointing fingers at. When yar adua died, you people from the gully erosion where every where insulting the man and his personality. You called us in the north all anner of names. Now yoruba don talk about your ike eba who got more honour than he deserved, you are here making noise. What you do to others will definitely be done to you! Karma that is

i am tired of defending nigeria. This is becos our own people will always say we shouldnt blame them but our leaders. That we are down all of that crap! But it is statements like this that give these people the gut to talk to us the way they feel. Let me tell you; these people judge you by what you say about yourselves. When we hype them so much, talk less about our achievements and say things we dont know like: 'they celebrated 10 years uninterrupted power supply', what do you expect them to say to us?

Enlightened1: @ OP... We're on the same page. I am such a shy person. I am 24 and have never asked a woman out before, for the fear of rejection and unfavorable response. No matter how hard I try to give myself confidence, once I meet a lady I just forget what to say, and it makes me feel so stupid. So I just stopped entirely. I try to do other things like play video games and read to take my mind off there. I've never had sex before, don't know what it feels like. But yes I do self service.
we have so much in common. But for the wanking, pls curtail it! I am wining
Politics / Re: Did Idoma Make Mistake By Not Joining The Igalas For A Separete State/ by gst101: 10:05pm On Jul 23, 2012
@ mesico you can learn the similarities between the two brother tribes from the clowns post. I told some that i am idoma and he said 'agba' to me immediately. That confirms the clowns point that the two tribes are often mistaken as one.

If the two tribes where to be alone in the same state, whats happening between igala and the other kogi people will not happen between idoma and igala. This is becos, there will be no clear majority in land area and population and also resouces.

The igalas in their current state have 7 LGAs while idoma in benue have 7 LGAs together with igedes 2 making 9 LGAs. In population, there is no clear diff and most importantly, they are almost the same people.

I even think the idomas will have an upper hand. This is becos they will always have the support of the igedes.

It is in the light of the above that i believe it was a mistake not to have joined the igalas in '91

jacobscros: it can NEVER be overcome unless God decides to change you. I know frm experience cos me i dont think i will ever stop being shy so just know that we both have zero hope
may be it will never change. But is there a way i can move on despite the 'shy' thaing?
I know i can be the best lover to any lady i fall completely for. This is becos what i feel, is the guarantee that i will be empathetic

that i will show fairness in judgement of issues regarding us

that i will be instinctively and automatically romantic down to the earth

that i will be so ready to give without expecting anything in return not even sex

that even if i argue with her, its going to be with love glowing in my eyes.
Politics / Re: Did Idoma Make Mistake By Not Joining The Igalas For A Separete State/ by gst101: 4:08pm On Jul 23, 2012
@torkaka. I never knew idoma and tiv share names. Thats quite a revelation and thanks. But if those name you mentioned are the names we share, then i would say thats an idoma influence on the tiv people.becos those names are more synonimous with idoma. And for the 'understanding each other becos of proximity', i would say that; the idomas understanding igala is way beyond geographical closeness. It is by blood! While the idomas understanding tiv is only becos of proximity.
Politics / Re: Did Idoma Make Mistake By Not Joining The Igalas For A Separete State/ by gst101: 3:23pm On Jul 23, 2012
Mesico2: @torkaka. Thanks for making it clear to the op. Even though I'm a yoruba by nature, I can say I know much about benue and Otukpo precisely more than my home state of kwara cos I was born and bred here. The thing is Idoma people are themselves problem. He made mention of no any single barrack army in Idoma land but I can say to the op that he got it wrong there. There was an army barracks before in otukpo a long time ago but Idoma people themselves protest against the barrack that the soldiers are sleeping with their women and their wives before they later shift the barrack to Makurdi. Infact the staff quarters of the barrack is still alive til today and people are still living there. Go to Gboko and see how great and develop it is. What has the Idoma people done to develop their town? Nothing and all they know is opopowulu [D. Mark]. I pity them sha cos Otukpo or any other town in the whole Idoma land is still like a remote village compare to other state towns.
i only heard of an army barrack but that was then and its no longer there.
