TV/Movies / [.mp3.] Alanis Morissette Such Pretty Forks In The Road Album Download by gundazoon: 5:19am On Jul 28, 2020
[.Mp3.] Alanis Morissette Such Pretty Forks in the Road Album Download Such Pretty Forks in the Road is the upcoming ninth studio album by Canadian-American singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, set to be released on July 31, 2020, through Epiphany Music and Thirty Tigers in North America, and by RCA and Sony Music in the United Kingdom and Europe.

As with the rest of humanity, Alanis Morissette’s big plans for 2020 haven’t quite worked out. With the hit musical of Jagged Little Pill running strong on Broadway as the year began, she was going to release her first album in eight years, the wrenching Such Pretty Forks in the Road, in May and then tour for the 25th anniversary of her debut. The new album is still coming out — now on July 31st — but the rest of it has evaporated. “It’s the classic stages of grief,” says Morissette. As for the nearly decade-long wait between studio albums, there’s an all-too-simple explanation, she adds with a laugh: “I think it’s straight-up having three children.” (To hear the entire interview on the new episode of our Rolling Stone Music Now podcast, press play below, or download and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or Spotify.)

The introspection of your new album feels well-suited to the times. What was your thinking in delaying it from the spring?
I just thought it intuitively doesn’t feel right to be putting a record out about one woman’s crisis when we’re in the middle of a pandemic. I got a 50-50 reaction depending upon which friend I told that information to. One would say, “Yeah, wait, please. I can’t take any more.” And then other friends said the total opposite thing: “Are you kidding me? I want to lose myself in your story and in your words.”

Alanis Morissette was famous for being angry. For her legions of young female fans in the Nineties, her third album Jagged Little Pill was an outlet for their own rage – rage they’d been forced to swallow on too many occasions. For certain critics, it was emblematic of “feminist hysteria”, to which they responded with derision and mockery. She didn’t mind. “If I were to be violently and rudely one-dimensionalised the way that was happening during that time,” she said in a recent interview with The Independent, “I’ll take anger. I think anger is pretty amazing.”

But Such Pretty Forks in the Road, her first album in eight years, is less a diatribe than a post-mortem – a one-woman dissection of breakdowns, addiction, insomnia, depression and motherhood. She sings with a profound matter-of-factness while demonstrating the full power of her unmistakeable voice, making for one of her best-ever records.

Having Jagged Little Pill adapted as a stage musical seems to have influenced the jaunty piano chords and narrative storytelling on “Reasons I Drink”. Morissette emulates Broadway veteran Idina Menzel, belting the chorus then plunging down to her deepest register. The result is thrilling. The song itself is an astonishingly candid exploration of why people turn to substance abuse or other kinds of addiction; she doesn’t attempt to offer a solution, only a plea for understanding.

Morissette has spoken in recent interviews about suffering from post-partum depression, and doesn’t shy away from the topic here either. “Ablaze”, a highlight on an album of highlights, is devastating and visceral, bringing in biblical imagery to explore the unbreakable bond between mother and child. “My mission is to keep the light in your eyes ablaze,” she sings to her son. “I am here hell or high water,” she tells her daughter. “Diagnosis”, with its mournful violins, is the relief that comes with being able to put a name to a previously indescribable condition.

Each song on the record has been produced with the utmost care, aided by producers Alex Hope (Troye Sivan, Carly Rae Jepsen) and Catherine Marks (Foals, The Big Moon). You can feel the weight of the piano keys and sense the reverb on the mic, or its absence when Morissette lays her isolated vocals bare to stunning effect on “Her”. Opener “Smiling” nods to Radiohead’s “My Iron Lung”; Morissette’s lilting vocal melody in particular recalls Thom Yorke’s keening falsetto.

“Nemesis” is a bold venture away from the relatively simple instrumentation that forms most of the album. It plays out like a dance track, unfurling with dramatic drum rolls into a pulsing rhythm with spaghetti Western flourishes. With the orchestral closer “Pedestal”, she offers a ruthless anatomy of her own insecurities, convinced her partner will eventually stop craving her. Morissette was perennially undervalued at the height of her fame. Let's hope the same doesn't happen with this superb album.

I was just trying to keep it together,” she sings on the opening track “Smiling,” introducing us to an individual who’s doing what they can to put on a brave face. Morissette’s haunting vocal style is so full of emotion it’s theatrical, but none of it is a show. A quarter of a century has come and gone since the release of her popular album in 1995, Jagged Little Pill, and Morissette has had some time to reflect.

“To my girl, all your innocence and fire: when you reach out, I am here, hell or high water,” she continues on “Ablaze.” Jagged Little Pill was put out when she was only 21 years old -- hardly old enough to drink, much less grapple with the hurdles that the music industry in the 90s could throw at a young woman. Singing to her younger self, she’s more easily able to recognize the turbulence of it all.

And indeed, the album moves into tracks like “Reasons I Drink,” a bluntly titled song that drags us through all of the pain, torture, and heartache hitting the bottle can cause.

“Call me what you need to make yourself comfortable,” she sings on “Diagnosis,” another gut-wrenching track that announces a form of defeat -- of finality. If you can’t beat them, join them.

Sydney trio DMA’S have announced their new album ‘The Glow’ will not arrive next month as previously scheduled.

The Glow Tracklist:
01. Never Before
02. The Glow
03. Silver
04. Life Is a Game of Changing
05. Criminals
06. Strangers
07. Learning Alive
08. Hello Girlfriend
09. Appointment
10. Round & Around
11. Cobracaine

"'Learning Alive' was written on the same piano as 'In The Air' and 'Step Up The Morphine'," DMA'S Johnny Took says.

"I remember playing early demos of the chorus to Mason and us vibing on it at The Lord Gladstone."

DMA'S worked with producer Stuart Price (The Killers, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, Madonna) on 'The Glow'. The band's previous two records have notched up four ARIA nominations, eight songs in the Hottest 100, while they've accrued 200 million-plus streams across DSPs.

Sydney’s rock gone anthemic pop boys, DMA’s have shared another single from their upcoming album today. Title track ‘The Glow’ is the third offering off of the album, following ‘Silver’ and ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’.

DMA’s frontman, Tommy O’Dell says this single is his favourite as it was fine-tuned over the years and flowing through the changes of the band. “For me it’s a snapshot of where we were and where we’re at now,” says O’Dell.

While DMA’s have seriously changed up their sound on this record, ‘The Glow’ is again so different to the other singles we’ve heard. The single combines O’Dell’s whirling vocals with a fast beat — super catchy and fun.

The record, which had been due for release on April 24, will now be released July 10, the band announced on social media today (March 23).

“Due to everything that’s going on, we have had to postpone its release,” the band explained. “All pre-orders will be honoured and sent out for the new date, and despite the delay [in] the release, we will have new music for you soon – stay safe.”

DMA’S had previously teased ‘The Glow’ with the singles ‘Silver’ and ‘Life Is a Game of Changing’. The latter received a remix by British dance duo Orbital earlier this month.

‘The Glow’, which comes two years after the last DMA’S album ‘For Now’, marks an expansion of the band’s sound beyond Britpop revival.

“Working with [‘The Glow’ producer] Stuart Price was really great, because it allowed us to try stuff that was different from DMA’S,” Took said.

“We didn’t want to make a record that sounded like either of the first two did. As much as we love the jangly, pop melody guitar thing, which is still on this record in bits, it’s nice to be able to change it up and to work with someone of Stuart’s calibre who’s tremendously inspiring to work with as well.”

The Glow follows DMA’s previously released records For Now and Hills End. They first caught our attention back in 2016 for their amusing blend of of alt-rock, Britpop, and indie rock — and promptly earned themselves a CoSign. Since then, they’ve only grown bigger. Based on this new song, it seems they’ve gotten louder, too.
“Life Is a Game of Changing” uses a thumping bass beat to kick off what appears to be the band’s new dance-focused era. It’s fast and flashy, so ready yourself for the chorus. By the time the descending synth glitter trickles in, it sounds like a Chemical Brothers track with pop vocals in the mix.

Phoebe Bridgers has announced details of her second album ‘Punisher’, as well as sharing ‘Kyoto’ – the latest track to be taken from the record.

The singer released her debut album ‘Stranger In The Alps’ in 2017, and its follow-up will arrive on June 19 via Dead Oceans.

It follows a hugely successful period that has seen Bridgers teaming up with Conor Oberst to form Better Oblivion Community Center, as well as co-founding the indie supergroup boygenius alongside Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus.

Throughout her sophomore effort, Punisher, Phoebe Bridgers is often transfixed by a feeling of stasis. Songs like “Chinese Satellite” and “I See You” evoke the sensation of being frozen, exacerbated by the perpetual anticipation of doom. “I’ve been running in circles trying to be myself,” she sings on the former. Again and again over the course of Punisher, the singer-songwriter laments her inability to find solid ground, her voice low but certain. These songs simmer beautifully and quietly, eventually boiling over in intermittent moments of sonic boisterousness, and the results are often stunning.

The album’s first two songs, “Garden Song” and “Kyoto,” perfectly illustrate this dynamic. Musically, “Garden Song” sounds tense and distant, with a light and bouncy guitar turned all the way down in the mix, while the unabashedly jaunty and bright “Kyoto” nearly bursts at the seams, every element clear and pristine. The restraint of “Garden Song” helps “Kyoto” hit harder and peak higher. And all the while, Bridgers’s breathy but confident voice remains the focal point of the track: “When I grow up, I’m going to look up from my phone,” she sings with certainty, “and it’s going to be just like my recurring dream.”

Bridgers has become one of the most acclaimed singer-songwriters of recent years by writing bleak, introspective songs grounded in twentysomething realness — she’s the folk rocker most likely to make you cry a little as you brew your morning coffee. Outside of her music, though, she’s irreverently funny, especially on social media. (“If eating ass is wrong I don’t want to be right” and “Every Wednesday is ass Wednesday where I’m from” are among her greatest hits on Twitter.)

She doesn’t see any contradiction there: “I think there’s more humor in my music than people hear,” she says. “I have never wanted to be a character, and I have never wanted to hide stuff about myself. I want to normalize personhood. Songs are like therapy to me: I’m just like a normal person, going to therapy.”

Elsewhere, Bridgers addresses a generation resistant to defining itself against a backdrop of catastrophe. “Halloween” creeps along while the singer muses about ambulance sirens ringing out in the night: “I used to joke that if they woke you up/Somebody better be dying.” Later, when Bridgers draws out the line “Come on, it’s Halloween,” it feels more mournful than celebratory, like a haunted state of being rather than a fun night out with friends. This renders the one seemingly hopeful line—“We can be anything”—sound like a comment on the paralysis that comes with trying to decide which mask to wear.

black lives matter!!!” the sister duo wrote in an Instagram post. we’ll be postponing our album to June 12th in solidarity of all the beautiful black lives lost.”

In a video, the two sisters explained why they felt it was important to postpone their album. So first and foremost, we just want to say we love you guys and over these past few days we have just been really angry and we’ve been hurting and physically shaken up over everything that’s been going on,” Chloe said.

So with that being said my sister and I felt like it was only right to postpone our album that supposed to be coming out this Friday, June 5th, and will be moving it to June 12th. In honor of all of the lives lost due to police brutality we felt that it was only right to fully shine our attention and light on them.”

Absolutely. Music has been used for a long time to bring us joy and healing in difficult times like this. That is why we are very excited to share it with you next week, on Friday because we’re going through this together,” Halle added.

Emotionally this week we have been very up and down because of the black men that are in our family, our father, our little brother. We think of them when things like this happen, so we definitely just want to continue to shine the light on George Floyd and him getting the justice he deserves.”

Exactly, as well as Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all of the beautiful black souls who have lost their lives. Without justice, there is no peace, and we are very proud of you for using your voices to make a change,” Chloe added.

We’re sending so much love and light to you all. Stay safe everyone. Love you.” Ungodly Hour will be released on Friday, June 12. Watch Chloe x Halle’s announcement below.

Chloe and Halle took to their Instagram account to make the announcement. They let their fans know that they pushed the album’s release back in solidarity for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Chloe x Halle return with a party jam called “Do It.” The Bailey sisters, who were signed by Beyoncé, just want to enjoy a night out with friends on this feel-good bop. “I beat my face, moving fast cause the Uber on the way,” the begin the song, which they co-wrote with Victoria Monét. “Taking pictures make sure you can’t see no lace, that wig secure like the money in the safe.” The R&B duo then lays down the ground rules on the chorus. “I’m just with the crew, we ain’t out here looking for boo.”

“Do It” is representative of the direction of Chloe x Halle’s much-anticipated sophomore LP, Ungodly Hour (out June 5). “For this [album], we really just wanted to show how we could pair our musicianship with a few bops and letting people enjoy themselves,” Chloe told Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “We called it Ungodly Hour because it’s okay to not be perfect all the time.” Halle reiterates that message. “We wanted to challenge the idea of us being these perfect angels that everybody has this image of us in their head,” she adds.

Listen to “Do It” and check out Chloe x Halle’s Ungodly Hour cover art below. You can pre-order the album here.
