Politics / Opinion: Will Buhari Win The War On Indiscipline The Second Time Around? by gunnykid(m): 6:58pm On Oct 07, 2015
When he began his first stint as Nigeria’s Head of State after a coup in 1983, General Mohammadu Buhari promised not to allow the “the nonsenses of litigation” interfere with his fight against corruption.

He then proceeded to oversee an anti-corruption drive characterized by public executions, secret military tribunals, and imprisonment for journalists who dared to disagree with his policies. He jailed hundreds of high-profile politicians, businessmen, and civil servants, and instilled enough fear to dissuade many others from corrupt practices. Today, Buhari’s supporters hail those efforts as ‘sanitizing’ the system. Evidence, they say, that Nigeria would have been different today had he remained President.

Someone who visited the Cross River University of Technology, Calabar, student hostel sent this in.

The person wrote...

"this is what CRUTECH students take as breakfast. I visited their hostel recently and I met these guys who used N40.00 (forty naira only) to cook soup. It was just an egg, salt and maggi.and they got a pot of soup and a very big bowel of eba which they ate in joyous mood. Though the guys did not permit me to take their pictures but they were proud to say
that the meal is a balance diet. When i asked them to tell me what made the egg soup a balanced diet, one of them started listing the ingredients such as
water-1
Egg-Protein
Salt
Maggi
Palm oil
Onions
Pepper
Please guys, do these ingredients make up a
balanced diet?

Sports / Manchester Uniteds Defender Luke Shaw With Injury In The Match Against PSV:PICS by gunnykid(m): 11:16pm On Sep 15, 2015
Luke Shaw suffered a suspected broken leg in Manchester United’s Champions League match at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
With the score at 0-0, the United left-back was the subject of a sliding tackle by Hector Moreno in the 15th minute of the group stage match in Holland. Replays showed Moreno had swept both of Shaw’s feet from underneath him and his right foot lay at an angle, which indicated a break.
He stayed down for eight minutes of treatment before being carried off on a stretcher while receiving oxygen. Louis van Gaal looked upset at seeing the 20-year-old being taken away.
The United manager went over to the defender and gave him a pat on the shoulder as he was carried down the tunnel. He was then taken to hospital in Eindhoven. Both sets of fans applauded as Shaw left the field.
Moreno was not penalised for the tackle, which happened in the PSV penalty area. If Shaw has broken his leg he is almost sure to miss the European Championship, which is not good news for Roy Hodgson.
The England manager already has major injury concerns. Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge, Fraser Forster and Ben Foster all missed the last international double-header with long-term injuries.
Marcos Rojo, who replaced Shaw at the Philips Stadion, is likely to be a long-term replacement for Shaw this season.
Shaw’s team-mate Adnan Januzaj, currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund, wrote on Twitter: “Horrible to see what happened ... I wish u all the best my brother and stay strong you will comeback even stronger”.
Shaw himself took to Twitter, as many well-wishers sent him notes of support. He wrote: “Thank you everyone for your messages , words can’t describe how gutted I am, my road to recovery starts now, I will come back stronger.”
His former club Southampton told Shaw to “come back stronger”, to which he replied: “thank you, you don’t know how much you as a club mean to me , thank you so much I really appreciate it”

Politics / 3 Ex-governors Under EFCC Radar:pics by gunnykid(m): 11:54pm On Sep 13, 2015
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) looks set to dock more ex-governors who have questionable records in line President Muhammadu Buhari’s quest to recover the country’s stolen monies.

This follows rigorous grilling already dished out to ex-governors like Martin Elechi, former governor of Ebonyi state and Sullivan Chime, former governor of Enugu state.

On the heels of alleged laundering of state funds, three ex-governors may also been in EFCC’s watch list.

These former governors whose cases may be seriously considered by the EFCC include Babangida Aliyu of Niger state, Isa Yuguda of Bauchi state and Gabriel Suswam of Benue state.

Interestingly, the three former governors reportedly left the country shortly after the change of government in their respective states on May 29.
However, the EFCC may cash-in on the anti-corruption posturing of President Buhari to press charges against these ex-governors.

In Niger state, the new government led by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has asked for the immediate refund of the N2.9 billion, allegedly obtained illegally by the immediate past government on the eve of departure.
According to reports, Aliyu left a debt of N57bn for his successor. This immediately prompted the Niger state House of Assembly directive to Governor Bello to probe how his predecessor the state’s resource when he held sway as governor for eight years.

In July, six vehicles allegedly taken away without due diligence of the law by the former governor Aliyu Babaginda and his wife Hajiya Jummai Babangida Aliyu, were recovered at their Abuja home. This was disclosed in a statement by Ibrahim Dooba, the chief press secretary to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.

The governor’s spokesperson said the vehicles were two Range Rover Jeeps, two saloons and a Mercedes Benz station wagon, as well as Hilux van recovered from one of his aides.

The EFCC is said to have started the probe of numerous petitions filed against the former governor, all bothering on alleged corrupt enrichment at the expense of the state’s resources.

In the similar vein, the current government of Bauchi state is said to be pushing for investigation by the EFCC of former governor Isa Yuguda on alleged treasury looting.

The community was founded by a black American named Walter Eugene King who was born on October 5, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, USA.Eugene went to the Cass Technical High School and got fascinated by the African culture. He also got exposed to the Katherine Dunham Dance Troupe at the age of 20 which increased his love for the African culture, particularly that of the Yorubas.
On August 26, 1959, Eugene became the first African born in America to become fully initiated into the Orisa-Vodun African priesthood by African Cubans in Matanzas, Cuba. This marked the beginning of the spread of Yoruba religion and culture among African Americans.

With a few followers, and after dissolution of the Order of Damballah Hwedo, Eugene founded the Sango Temple in New York and incorporated the African Theological Arch Ministry in 1960. The Sango Temple was relocated and renamed the Yoruba Temple the same year.
In the fall of 1970, Eugene founded the Yoruba Village of Oyotunji in Beaufort County South Carolina, and began the careful reorganization of the Orisa-Vodu Priesthood along traditional Nigerian lines. He was initiated to the Ifa priesthood by the Oluwa of Ijeun at Abeokuta, Nigeria, in August of 1972.

Politics / See Reasons For The Improved Power Supply by gunnykid(m): 7:50pm On Aug 24, 2015
Its becoming or will i say the undefined power supply in Nigeria has now been improved, those this signifies nigeria becoming a better country or that we now have a good government. Well here are reason to which Power Supply in the nation has now been improved.

The anti-corruption disposition of President Muhammadu Buhari has been matched to the improved gas supply and relative stability in power supply across the nation.Baba Umar Mustapha the acting Managing Director of Yola Electricity Distribution Company, YEDC stated this in his maiden interaction with journalists at the headquarters of Yola DISCO.

Baba Umar Mustapha who debunked insinuations linking improvement in power supply experienced across the nation to the rainy season, said the notion while incorrect, had gained currency because most people think power generation often peaks during rainy season due to power generation from the hydro-electric power stations in the country.Relatively, he said the improvement in power supply, which is being witnessed across the nation, was due to anti- corruption disposition of the Muhammadu Buhari presidency as well as improvement in gas supply to the various thermal generating plants. Mustapha noted that the investors had been told to either shape up or ship out.

Also the new acting managing director also informed that with the improvement of power supply, Mubi Town has been reconnected to national grid after several months of being in the dark.

Furthermore also canvassed the assistance of the Federal Government to allow the restoration of power supply to some Borno towns following the reconnection of Mubi Town in Adamawa State to the national grid.

Mubi twn owhich fell to Boko Haram at the height of the onslaught of the insurgency has been in blackout since October last year following the destruction of key power installations as a result of the war waged by the military to retake the captured town renamed Madinatul Islam by the insurgents.

“They could have said there is gas supply improvement to the thermal power generation plants because the hydro-electric power stations do not contribute up to 25% of our demands for now, though they are more reliable.

“The bottom line is that there’s a gas supply improvement in the system and partly also because of the zero tolerance for corruption by the present government has also contributed. Because it is no longer business as usual, whether you generate and make your money or you pack and go,” Mustapha stated.

He also noted that the Yola DISCO was privately owned and not unlike other privately-owned entities does not get subvention from the Federal Government, hence was responsible for paying the emoluments of its employees through the revenues it generates.

Moreso he revealed plans to take YEDC to greater heights even as he debunked insinuation that the company had been returned to the government.

He had also warned staff against corrupt practices, saying any staff found guilty of sharp practices would be fired.
