Politics / Rivers State Needs A Man As Dumo Lulu Briggs For Governor by hadasah2019: 12:33pm On Mar 02, 2019
A foundation in the name of DYF23 founded by some rivers state youths was named after Dumo lulu Briggs, this alone proves he’s a cynosure of all eyes and his love for supporting the seemingly neglected people in the society speaks volume.
While other politicians who seem to be gunning for the Brick House in 2019 are gathering people for a bottle of drinks, Dumo is channeling his hard-earned resources to building human capacity. His group, Dumo Support Group, is found in every nook and cranny of Rivers State providing support for the downtrodden and other physically challenged people. He will definitely do more once he comes into power as governor.

Politics / The Summary Of Atiku/obi Presentations On The NG Candidates by hadasah2019: 9:56am On Feb 01, 2019
First and foremost, Nigerians should take note that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar defined Corruption as "the use of your privileged position to either enrich yourself or enrich your relatives or even your friends". When this is juxtaposed with his earlier statement in Lagos, that he will enrich his friends if he becomes President, we can safely conclude that he will be fully in the business of corruption if he becomes President.

Secondly, Atiku/Obi made it clear to Nigerians that conflict of interests as a public servant should be the norm as, during their tenures, they found absolutely nothing wrong then and today, with investing public funds in enterprises they own or their families own. For instance, Kadaria ran Peter Obi into a ditch when she asked him if his family was not enriched as a result of using public funds for his family business ‘NEXT’.

Thirdly, their claim on experience in running anything public or private cannot stand any act of scrutiny. The Presidential candidate, who is easily a major contributor to our huge unemployment problem today as a result of his corrupt privatization programme, counts this failure as a huge experience and wants to repeat same if elected.

Finally, their proposed Agriculture Programme which they claim to have put together to lift majority of the people out of poverty is a version of what is already being implemented by the present government under the Anchors Borrowers Programme and the Government Enterprises and Empowerment Programmes.

After watching Atiku/Obi on that programme, it has become clear to all Nigerians that our public institutions and commonwealth would be in grave danger if left in the hands of these dodgy and questionable characters who have no morals and no scruples about using and misusing public funds for private gains.
Politics / The Fictions, The Lies And The Facts In Atiku/obi’s Claims In Ng Candidates by hadasah2019: 9:49am On Feb 01, 2019
Nigerians watched with shock and dismay the barefaced lies and outright dishonest claims of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the television show tagged ‘The Candidates’
These are some of the lies they told in that programme, which some simple fact-checks would easily expose.

Lie Number 1:

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar claimed that at handover in May 2019, our GDP growth rate was 6%.

Fact Checked Truth: It is a well-documented fact that at handover, the GDP growth rate was 2.35%. The economy was on a free fall as the GDP growth rate had dropped for three consecutive quarters.

Lie Number 2:

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar claims recession was caused by the APC Government.

Fact Checked Truth: With a consistent and rapid drop of our GDP, their Coordinating Minister of the Economy at that time, Okonjo Iweala, former Central Bank Governor Prof. Charles Soludo and the Central Bank Governor at the time, now Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, warned the PDP Government and Nigerians that we were headed for a recession.

Lie Number 3:

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar claimed that security challenges were restricted to the North East during their time.

Truth: Nigerians will recall that the Boko Haram activities had spread all over the North East, North West and North Central. For instance, the UN Headquarters, Police Headquarters, a Bus stop in Nyanya, a prominent Plaza in Wuse II were all bombed during the era of the last govt. A church or Mosque was bombed every week in 2013/2014. The herders-farmers’ clashes were the deadliest in 2014, claiming over 1,300 lives in a short period across the North. Boko Haram occupied over 17 Local Government Areas and hoisted their flags, effectively establishing a caliphate in the North East. All these happened before the coming of this administration.

Lie Number 4:

Peter Obi claimed that out-of-school children grew to 13.5 million under this administration .

Truth: The figure of 13.2 million out-of-school children was a 2015 survey by UNICEF. An alarm was raised by several global bodies then because the figure had grown from 10.5 million in 2010 to 13.2 million in 2015, despite record earnings of the Government at that time. In other words, Peter Obi’s claim is self-indicting.

Lie Number 5:

That Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as a Customs officer, said there was nothing wrong at that time with setting up a company that had dealings in the Ports that were under Customs’ supervision.

Truth: The Code of Conduct for Public Officers was first enshrined in the 1979 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Atiku Abubakar co-founded the company, as a serving Customs officer, three years after the 1979 Constitution came into operation. According to Section 1 of the 5th Schedule to the 1979 Constitution, a public officer shall not put himself in a position where his personal interest conflicts with his duties and responsibilities. By establishing a company involved in Port-related business at a time when he was an officer in the Nigeria Customs Service charged with managing the Ports, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar definitely put himself in a position where his personal (business) interest conflicted with his duties as a public officer.

Lie Number 6:

Peter Obi claims Nigeria has record poverty now.

Truth: Despite high oil revenue, according to the World Bank, extreme poverty under PDP grew to 112 million in 2013 through 2014, compared to 86 million today. India pulled their citizens out of poverty for over two decades by using the same methods Nigeria is now using today.

In summary one would have thought that in the course of the programme, ‘The Candidates’, Atiku/Obi would have modified the lies they told earlier in their campaigns and make it consistent with reality as most of them were already fact-checked by independent bodies and proven to be lies. Alas they have continued on the same path, believing that ‘If you tell a big enough lie and tell it frequently enough, it will be believed’.

Politics / Onnoghen's Suspension Was The Right Thing by hadasah2019: 8:45am On Jan 30, 2019
With Onnoghen's alleged crime, if he was in U.S.A, he would be facing a congregational hearing, and be facing 20 years jail time.
In China, he would have been executed publicly
In Europe, he would have resigned
In S.A, his houses would have been vandalised and he would be in protective custody so he is not killed by protesters and rioters.
But in Nigeria, a corrupt man being the head of judiciary is celebrated and SAN's rally round him to fight for him, while the common man comes on FB to support him, with over 40 houses and over N1 billion in his account as a civil servant?
Let's accept it, Buhari did what every normal human being in power would do. Suspending him was the right thing to do and if at all he's not found guilty, he would be re-instated
Buhari is after the good of Nigeria

Politics / Buhari is better than Atiku by hadasah2019: 4:11pm On Jan 24, 2019
There's no doubt that most Nigerians believe Buhari hasn't made any change for Nigeria since he came into power but let's face the fact, he actually has in different sectors. Corruption is the major obstacle to growth and development in our nation and it has played a major role in causing serious damage to our economic and social landscape, which has undermined social welfare and also investment in the public services, thereby eroding the quality of life.
Most people expected Buhari to just get things done immediately he entered office but it doesn't work that way. If he doesn't sweep out the major problem (corruption) we face in Nigeria, nothing is going to work, even if Atiku promises heaven on earth.
Lets take for example you had a house party and everywhere was turned upside down and left in dirt. The first thing you do once the party is over is to clean up and arrange the house before you can feel comfortable and continue with your normal daily activities. That's how it is with Nigeria, Buhari came into power after a corrupt government and before things can get working, he had to clean up the mess left by the previous government, which of course we know will take time because this country was in serious shambles before he came into power. There's no doubt, things will get way better during his second tenure because the issue of corruption has been decreasing with Buhari as president.
4 years for change and 4 more years for consolidation. Buhari is the man that can actually rebuild Nigeria, unlike Atiku he actually keeps to his words

Politics / Atiku Can't Be Trusted by hadasah2019: 3:22pm On Jan 24, 2019
A man like Atiku cannot be trusted as President. Yes, he promised jobs but has he explained how he plans on creating jobs or what kind of jobs? Atiku's character can not be defended. He has either stolen, back stabbed or lied. What good comes out of a man that portrays such character?
Atiku is shady and cant keep his promises. There's enough reasons and examples to not vote Atiku as president.
If he couldn't do anything good for Nigeria or create jobs while as vice president, what makes you think it will be different now.
You can't change a man's character and as president of a country, character is important.

Politics / Obasanjo Speaking Falsely Against Buhari by hadasah2019: 5:15pm On Jan 21, 2019
It is ridiculous that Obasanjo claimed the federal government is funding Boko Haram when Boko Haram was formed when the PDP government was in power. During this period Boko Haram controlled 14 territories until Buhari came into power, now they have zero control over some of this territories. Buhari is more committed to wiping Boko Haram out completely.
If Obasanjo is so sure about this claim, he should mention names.
Politics / Obasanjo Has No Moral Right To Talk Against Buhari by hadasah2019: 5:04pm On Jan 21, 2019
Obasanjo claimed we are now in an Abacha era, meanwhile Abacha's era was characterized by infringements on fundamental human rights and Obasanjo's regime has been the only regime that has mirrored abacha's regime closely, arguably even more. Obasanjo committed uncountable violations on human rights during his regime, some of which are when he sent soldiers to the senate president's house to seize the mace, quarantined his house so he couldn't leave and no one could come in, to mention but a few.
If Obasanjo's crimes are listed, it would easily surpass those of Abacha but he didn't receive as much media attention and backlash as Abacha did because he received a lot of international credit for being a civilian governor who handed over to a military government in 1979.
Politics / Obasanjo, The Man Who Destroyed Nigeria by hadasah2019: 4:45pm On Jan 21, 2019
Its ironic that Obasanjo would talk about a government that has never conducted an election and therefore has no precedent rigging an election. It simply shows that obasanjo and the PDP already suspect that they stand no chance of winning in the upcoming elections and are attempting to form the foundation of their argument when they lose which will be THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED, WE ALREADY SAID THEY WOULD.
Obasanjo has no moral standing to talk about a government rigging an election because he is suspected to have been involved in a election rigging, of which the 2007 election was recorded as the most fraudulent election in Africa. Obasanjo era was believed to have the most bizzare stories about election rigging, number of votes in an area being 3 times more than the number of voters in that same area, ballot boxes theft, e.t.c.
Politics / Buhari Is Better Than Atiku by hadasah2019: 3:13am On Jan 16, 2019
Over the years, President Buhari’s tenure has achieved the three cardinal points of the APC-led administration which included; security, economic development and fight against corruption. The administration through its projections, promises, policies and programs viz a viz the opposition, it is obvious that beyond acquisition of power and winning elections, Buhari is obsessed with nation building.
This trait shows the integrity he has as a leader unlike Atiku and his campaign strategies energized towards only winning the elections to be in power without projecting towards building a corrupt free Nigeria.
Atiku is yet to clear his name of graft allegations in the US and indictment over alleged mismanagement of PTDF funds when he served as vice president. Is this the kind of leader Nigerians want for themselves?
A true leader with passion for growth will have no reason to move from one party to another showing how confused he can be in decision making. Atiku was the same man who joined in promoting Buhari’s campaign in 2015, prostrated and to him and showed confidence in his abilities as a leader. Suddenly, when a re-election comes into the picture, the tabled get turned and shattered.
Let’ join hands as we strive for four more years of better security, economic development and a corrupt free Nigeria.

Politics / Buhari And Atiku Trade Words Over Corruption Wars by hadasah2019: 2:22am On Jan 16, 2019
There has been a recent war between Buhari and Atiku over corruption war.
Atiku has made claims that Buhari is the main problem of his anti-craft war according to Sun online news.
PDP members, blamed the Buhari' system for the slow pace of the fight against corruption in his administration.
Atiku made a statement, “that the President’s comment was an admittance that he failed in the fight against corruption”.
The truth is, PDP doesn’t have the strength and support to fight Buhari. They don’t have the records in security, economy and the war against corruption to mount any meaningful challenge. They have no records of accomplishments in infrastructure.
“In the 16 years they held sway, they have nothing to show for the colossal oil revenues earned, including $16 billion doled upfront from the Central Bank for power, without a single megawatt to show for all that money.
Reacting to this statement, the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, said Atiku was exhibiting early signs of depression, resulting from obvious frustration.
He asked Atiku in a statement in Abuja to “tell Nigerians why a discredited person like him should be elected as President instead of raising puerile allegations on a daily basis.
“For Atiku and his PDP co-travellers, the only interest is to grab power and continue where they stopped in their avarice. The APC administration is eager to showcase the impressive achievements we have recorded in the last three and a half years.
“We won’t yield to the PDP’s shenanigans. The obvious strategy of the PDP is to truncate the country’s journey towards economic buoyancy and social stability. We will not play the PDP’s game.
Politics / The Flag Bearer Of Pdp Is The Very Embodiment Of Corruption by hadasah2019: 2:16am On Jan 16, 2019
Atiku has been accused of money laundering and fraud in the United States, reports say. For context, Atiku has visited so many nations and cities on earth since he left power in 2007. But he’s never visited the United States or a city in the United States. Why so? The name Atiku Abubakar came up in a Siemens broadband contract scandal involving Nigerian and American officials in the mid-2000s. According to sundry reports, from 2000 to 2008, Jennifer Douglas, a U.S. citizen and fourth wife of Atiku, helped her husband transfer over $40 million in suspicious funds into the United States. The money was sent by offshore corporations to U.S. bank accounts. A chunk of the money was used by the Atiku's to pay consultants for the setting up of the American University in Nigeria. The Nation reports that: “of the $40 million in suspect funds, $25 million was wire transferred by offshore corporations into more than 30 U.S. bank accounts opened by Ms. Douglas, primarily by Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., LetsGo Ltd. Inc., and Sima Holding Ltd." Two of the offshore corporations' wire transferred about $14 million over five years to American University in Washington, D.C., to pay for consulting services related to the development of a Nigerian university founded by Mr. Abubakar. American University accepted the wire transfers without asking about the identity of the offshore corporations or the source of their funds, because under current law, the University had no legal obligation to inquire. Investigators say U.S. authorities probed the Siemens broadband contract because it was awarded to iGATE, an American company in which Williams Jefferson, then U.S. federal lawmaker from Louisiana, retained considerable interest. Jefferson and Atiku were best of friends at the time and it is believed in intelligence circles that the contract went on without glitches in Nigeria because Jefferson had agreed to pay bribe money to top political figures in Nigeria, including Atiku. In a secretly recorded conversation with the FBI, Jefferson disclosed that Atiku was promised $500,000 if he influenced the broadband deal from the Nigerian end of things. The case against Jefferson was premised on bribery, influence-peddling and contract inflation. Jefferson was found guilty and served jail time in the United States for his part in the transaction, but Atiku has never been prosecuted in Nigeria. There are insinuations that should Atiku visit the United States, he’ll be promptly arrested and prosecuted for his part in the transaction.
Politics / Increase In Electricity by hadasah2019: 2:11am On Jan 16, 2019
Buhari's administration is aimed at increasing the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in the country using various energy mix. This focus gave birth to the actualization of the completion of the Gurara hydro power plant in kaduna state with an additional 30 megawatts to help boost electricity supply in the northwest part of the country.
PDP has over the years robbed Nigerians of good electrical supply, adequate supply of water, agricultural and industrial growth due to the long non-completion of the Gurara dam since 2001 when Obasanjo launched the project. The contractors were given a duration of 3yr to complete but since Obasanjo’s tenure expired, every other president from PDP had failed to complete the dam.
Gurara dam 1,800 hectares of irrigation land had been leased to commercial farmers, individuals and retirees in the agricultural business sector. The Buhari’s administration has given retirees room to retire home to the agricultural system of economic development. This development has helped provide electricity to industrial companies, thereby improving industrial activities leading to employment.

Politics / Buhari’s Character, Achievements Can Earn Him Presidency Return, Says BYO by hadasah2019: 11:22am On Jan 12, 2019
The Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO), Lagos State Chapter, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s character and achievements can earn him a return to presidency in 2019.
The group was reacting to the allegation of non-performance of the Buhari-led Federal Government by the Campaign Team of the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democrat Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
While addressing party supporters in Lafia Square, Nasarawa State, on Thursday, Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of PDP, had urged Nigerians to elect Abubakar.
Uche Secondus had challenged President Buhari to come out and engage the people on his record of performance, if any and “stop hiding in the Villa”. He alleged that while PDP candidates and leaders were engaging the people for votes, President Buhari and APC leaders were hiding in the Villa planning how to rig elections.
Reacting however, BYO said: “In response to the Peoples’ Democratic Party’s comments at the Nasarawa rally, BYO has challenged Atiku Abubakar and his party to benchmark the resources available, income earned and their achievements in 16 years respectively.
“The PDP should compare this with what President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has gotten in the last four years whenever they are talking to Nigerians.
“When we talk about character, President Buhari has demonstrated utmost care for the needy, pensioners, market women, and unemployed graduates.
“This, he did, with an impartial mechanism that debarred all forms of tribalism, religious favour or nepotism in the distribution of the Federal Government Social Investment Programmes (SIPs) to Nigerians.
“None of the PDP past leaders ever achieved the feat where proposed figure gets to the intended beneficiaries without any form of middlemen deductions.”
On Secondus’ allegation that some politicians in Lagos State who always spoke against about corruption had milked the state dry, the BYO leaders said: “No matter what yardstick will be used aside the size of the land area, Lagos remains the state that will always be at the top of all the good ratings when compared to other 36 states.
“Unfortunately, PDP can hardly boast of similar feat where a state’s internally generated revenue is enough to keep it going outside royalties.
“If PDP and Atiku want to uphold their claims, they should tell Nigerians what they used $500 billion oil earnings in 16 years for Nigerians to compare it with the $94 billion earned in three years under President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Politics / Companies That Folded Up During PDP Administration by hadasah2019: 10:27am On Jan 12, 2019
At least 800 companies closed down in Nigeria between 2009 and 2011, due to the harsh operating business environment, the Nigerian Chambers of Commerce has said.
The companies that have survived are also having serious challenges as more than half of them have been classified as “ailing.’’ This was disclosed by the President of Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA, Herbert Ajayi, in a paper he presented at a zonal workshop on economic diversification organised by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.
Mr. Ajayi said "the current situation of the “surviving” industries poses a great threat to the survival of the manufacturing industry. He added that capacity utilization in industries hovers around 30 per cent and 45 per cent on the average, with 100 per cent overhead costs. He blamed the continued decline in the manufacturing sectors on political and economic factors, citing poor infrastructure and epileptic power supply as key impediments to the industry. The manufacturing industry as a whole operates on more than 70 per cent of energy it generates, using generators; and operating these generators greatly increases the cost of manufacturing goods. The industrialist gave other reasons for the woes in the sector as incessant increase in the price of petroleum products used by industries, multiple taxation, unabated smuggling and inadequate access to finance, both local and abroad. The widespread insecurity and the inability of government agencies in the ports to meet their 24-hour target, for cargo clearance, have contributed to the dwindling fortunes in the manufacturing sector".

Politics / Nigerians Will Be Alarmed With Details Of Loot If Released by hadasah2019: 10:18am On Jan 12, 2019
A member of the House of Representatives, Mr Ehiozuwa Agbonnayima, has said that Nigerians would be alarmed with details of loot if released by President Mohammadu Buhari.
Agbonayima, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for Ikpoba-Okha/Egor Constituency in the House, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Benin on Monday. He said Nigerians would be so alarmed that they would want to kill some of the looters.
Agbonnayima said it was worrisome that Nigerians failed to realize that it was not Buhari that stole their money. He said those fighting against Buhari’s re-election were doing so because their oil wells licenses would would not be renewed. He alleged that there were some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Buhari’s cabinet that do not want him to succeed because the credit would go to the ruling APC.
Agbonnayima disclosed that a foreign lawyer engaged by the Nigeria government told him that some Nigerian lawyers engaged by same government were working against their own country to sabotage the return of stolen fund. According to him, this election is about development. If Buhari decides to release names of looters, Nigerians will want to kill them.
“The U.S. gave us comprehensive details of the crude oil that left the country illegally.
“We invited the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and they brought bags full of evidence. In all those documents from the NNPC, there was no record of any oil transaction being taken to the U.S.
“It was as if nothing left the country but the U.S., Custom gave us what landed through the Port of Houston.
“We have documents of who brought the oil, who bought it and the bank through which the money was paid.
“Former Vice President Abubakar Atiku should tell Nigerians the business he has done. He has only been a custom officer and Vice President of the country.
“He said he is an investor but he took INTEL that belonged to Nigerians. Congressman Jefferson has been jailed in the U.S. and the document the U.S. Attorney General sent to former President Olusegun Obasanjo to investigate Atiku is there,” he said.
Agbonnayima added:”Who committed same crime with Jefferson want to become president whereas his accomplice has been jailed.. We must shine our eyes.
“I do not think I have an opponent. Go and look at my last antecedent. Let them bring their records if they really care about the people.

Politics / President Buhari Deserves A Second Tenure by hadasah2019: 9:28am On Jan 12, 2019
The contractors were given a duration of 3years to complete it but since Obasanjo’s tenure expired, every other president from PDP had failed to complete the dam.

Politics / President Buhari To Ministers: No Government Money For Campaigns by hadasah2019: 9:24am On Jan 11, 2019
President Muhammadu Buhari pledged that he would not authorize the use of any money from the government treasury for his re-election campaign. He reiterated his commitment to eliminate corruption in campaign financing in the country.
The president made the declaration in a statement by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity at the close of the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja.
President Buhari directed cabinet ministers to take advantage of technology to reach out to voters on the need to return the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration in next month’s general elections. “As political parties spread their ideologies and views to every nook and corner of the country, the issue of cash payment to voters and its corrupting influence in electioneering has once again become a topical issue.
“Try and use text and multi-media messages to seek votes for the party and government. “There is no money from the treasury for use in the campaigns. I will not authorize that.”
According to him, the APC-led administration has a clear development agenda best suited to take Nigeria forward and sustain economic development.
‘‘This message needs to be taken to all Nigerians that we cannot use money from the treasury to share out to prospective voters.
‘‘Nigerians want change and we alone can deliver that change. Our people can no longer be swayed by money politics,’’ he added.
The president also used the occasion, which was a valedictory session for the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Hajiya Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim, to wish the minister success in her electoral contest.
The minister had signified her desire to leave the cabinet, in line with existing regulations, to run for a legislative seat in her native Yobe.
Politics / Atiku Can't Get Nigeria Working by hadasah2019: 8:46am On Jan 11, 2019
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should have been prosecuted and jailed for various acts of corruption and abuse of office after he left office as Vice President, some of which are:
(a) For himself and his boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, granting themselves licenses to build universities as President and Vice President whilst in office in clear breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers. Those Universities should have been probed, seized and transferred to the Nigeria State and the Nigerian people by now.

(b) Laundering slush funds to the United States of America using phoney companies, part of which was used to fund his present American University in Adamawa State through which he is also extorting Nigerians through exorbitant fees. It is public knowledge that this indictment is contained in a US Congressional Report that has led to the prosecution and conviction of his accomplices in the US, which are William Jefferson and Siemens.

(c) His indictment and recommendation for prosecution by the Report of the EFCC over the PTDF scandal whilst he was Vice President.

We have also read with keen interest the case filed against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by some public spirited Nigerians alleging that he never paid his Personal Income Taxes as at when due, yet he wants to ‘get Nigeria working again’.

As Vice President, Atiku diverted $125 million from the PTDF into his personal business. He steals from Nigeria and uses that same money to fund his political ambitions founded on lies and greed. #factsdontliePDPdoes

Politics / President Buhari Will Campaign For All APC Candidates – Presidency by hadasah2019: 8:41am On Jan 07, 2019
The Presidency says President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections, will campaign for the party and all its candidates.

A presidential spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, made this known in a statement while reacting to media enquiries over the hosting of Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Sunday.

Amosun was accompanied by the Ogun state governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Abdulkadir Adekunle Akinlade, during the visit.

The statement read: “Following repeated media enquiries on the matter, the Presidency wishes to state in clear and unmistakable terms that as a party leader and a candidate on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the coming elections, President Muhammadu Buhari will campaign for the party and all its candidates.

“This, however, does not mean that he, as the nation’s leader, will decline courtesy calls or offers of support from citizens including candidates flying the flags of other parties.

“There is no doubt that the President has no competition here in terms of popularity in the coming elections. But the more support he gets, the wider the margin of victory there will be.

“So please let there be no confusion about this. President Buhari is APC. He will campaign for all APC candidates, but he welcomes support and endorsement,".

Prior to Sunday’s meeting with the president, Amosun, accompanied by the APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Dantalle, had in Dec. 2018, met with the president at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Amosun, at the meeting, presented a letter of adoption of the President by APM as the party’s presidential candidate in Feb. 16 general elections.

The governor said the endorsement letter was given to him by the party for onward presentation to the president, adding that with the endorsement, Buhari, whom he described as a man with good heart, would garner massive votes in the 2019 presidential elections.

The President and his visitors, at the end of today’s visit, had group photograph where they all demonstrated the “4 + 4’’ symbol with their fingers, meaning another four years for governing APC in Presidential Villa.

Amosun’s ‘consensus’ candidates for the governorship election (Akinlade) and state assembly elections are contesting under the banner of APM.

But, the governor is contesting for the Ogun central senatorial seat as a candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
