[quote author=jeromestarks post=120580097] Are you guys serious? Yes. I'd recommend Sensodyne Activated Charcoal Toothpaste, got it for #1500 back in December and my family has been using it ever since. Not only does it have a strong whitening effect but no toothpaste has given me long lasting clean breath and mouth freshness than it has. I wanted to attach a picture of it but I'm not getting how to do that. You can check it out online, it has a black tube with a white cover. |

Valentineboy1: Hehe. It's not that I even have 1Kobo to spend on relocation or decided to relocate yet. Just checking out several options available, that's all. Thanks for your advice |

Gernny: Haba... Just wanted to know as many pathways available. Just a part of the whole research process so one knows what they are getting into. It's okay... Really appreciate your time so far. Best wishes Ma'am ! |

Gernny: Thank you so much. I believe the Mauritius degree plan is just for transit into better countries. If I may ask, how do you intend to do that. Can one get jobs or scholarships 'abroad' easily with their degree Apologies if it appears like I'm prying o I just want to gather as much knowledge as possible before I make my decision. Thanks :- |

Gernny: Wow. Congratulations. Was the application process really straightforward? May I ask how long it has taken you? 5000USD is quite on the high side. Looking at when I dd the travel costs, processing and small money to settle down when there, will be rounding up into 3m like that. Yet nursing and MPH are the closest viable options for me. Thank you |

BunmiBie: Good evening... Your post has been a while but I'm curious to know please. How much is the tuition for nursing in this institution? Thank you. |

highbee02: Ha! A higher education degree means I have advanced knowledge of the subject na. Would be a shame on me if after years of studying Physics or Engineering, I can't correctly mark exams of basic level. Plus, the exam body always provide marking guide already. What other experience does a person need to mark exam scripts of 15/16 year olds other than the understanding of the topics? Just some little orientation on the skills of exam marking, recording etc...dass all. But I do get your point, very well. Graduates of education might be the best for this role then, since they have gotten more experience through Observation and Teaching practice. I'm already a strong believer that only people with degrees in Education should be teachers but with the economy and state of employment in the land, it is what it is. Cost of training shouldn't be the problem. We already spend a whole lot on shenanigans, we can put those funds to better use. That's why we say the education sector needs more strategic funding, at all levels. A better/ widened curriculum with the same way of testing and marking might not bring so much progress, in the context of this OP's suggestions. |

RenerdLiam: But the colonial masters use these same systems in their world and are really excelling. I beg to say that 62 years is an extremely long time to still blame the colonial masters for the rot in our educational system. They are not responsible for our outdated syllabuses or lack of sufficient platforms for students to do more practicals. They are not responsible for poor infrastructures in our schools or lack of competence in our educators. Like your last input, it is OUR SOLE responsibility. 1 Like 1 Share |

saintopus: Hahaha! Not as easy as you have put it o . I taught Chemistry in a public school in South-West where many students could barely express themselves in English language and Omo, I did try to use Yoruba as much as possible but how do you say 'Electrolysis' in Yoruba naa? Let alone explain the whole concept. Me that my normal use of Yoruba is wack. What I did was to ensure I did some little class practicals and also used very relatable examples, most of the time. For example, I remember mentioning how people who fry akara in large quantities add pieces of charcoal to slow down the rate of fermentation of the grinded beans while frying... To explain rate of reactions and effect of catalysts. I made analogies, mnemonics etc and it helped. While I think teaching in local languages is great and has positive effects, I feel the issue of multiple languages might be limiting. Say, a child born in Enugu, being taught in Igbo through his early years, now has to relocate to Delta at age 10, where they don't speak his language... How will he cope? Or states like Lagos with much diversity, what local language will be the language of instruction. Those are my thoughts. The whole Education sector in Nigeria needs myriad of solutions jare 1 Like |

Chaos14: You are correct. They have to be considered and the matter is actually connected with other factors. The current crop of exam markers are largely teachers, people who are already burdened with so much task from their primary places of work, but, who, need extra cash, because they aren't getting paid enough. In my opinion, for OP's submissions to work, teachers, both in the public or private schools have to be paid and rewarded better than what they currently get. In addition, there has to be massive and transparent recruitment of graduates, for the sole purpose of examination marking. Say, graduates of agricultural science in a state, employed to mark only agricultural science, Animal husbandry etc. I think that will make things easier. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Good submissions OP. Especially, in the tertiary education stage. Graduating from the higher institution with no idea of how to apply your course of study to real life situation is such a waste of time and money The courses I really enjoyed and passed well in school were the practical and applicable ones. For instance, this course where we had paternity dispute case studies, or the one we learnt about genetic modification or the one where we learnt about population nutrition and designing healthy nutrition plan. Totally enjoyable courses. These were courses that could give a student a sense of career direction but sadly, they didn't come until final year. Sad when I see students of really practicable courses oblivious of the ways they can maximize their knowledge, even as students. For instance, imagine a student of International Relations or something that has to do with people, who doesn't like attending conferences and formal events or has no idea he should be actively involved in organizations like AIESEC and others that will build their diplomacy skills and give them experience and exposure. But you can't totally blame them, they are just victims of a system that hasn't exposed their minds to reality. That's why the advice for young people to study relevant and in-demand courses is good but not enough, people have to learn to use their knowledge for the real world. I'll give it up for a UI lecturer who made it essential for many of his students to watch the just concluded Kadaria Ahmed's Presidential Debate. Some of them felt he was being extra but boyy, if only they knew how he was helping them. So, true, higher institutions have to include practicality to their courses, right from year one to final year. Not that scam of final year project More platforms for students to gain experience and be able to offer value to organizations and the society even as fresh graduates. Also, students have to be intentional about adding values to themselves, thank goodness the internet is now there. No, we all don't have to be techies but we all can be innovative in whatever field we have chosen or "gotten". 20 Likes 1 Share |
