Foreign Affairs / Here Earlier Than by haipingliaoi: 7:38am On Dec 03, 2020
1、 My statement was clear, I believe I had #Coronavirus in Nov 2019 and I advocate for antibody testing. I also believe a lot of people in the US had the virus earlier than 1/2020. In no way was I implying it started in the US. I’m merely saying, it was here earlier than claimed.
Foreign Affairs / Breakdown Of Race By County Or City by haipingliaoi: 7:29am On Dec 03, 2020
In Michigan, where the state’s 845 reported deaths outrank all but New York’s and New Jersey’s, African Americans account for 33 percent of cases and roughly 40 percent of deaths, despite comprising only 14 percent of the population. The state does not offer a breakdown of race by county or city, but more than a quarter of deaths occurred in Detroit, where African Americans make up 79 percent of the population.
And in Illinois, a disparity nearly identical to Michigan’s exists at the state level, but the picture becomes far starker when looking at data just from Chicago, where black residents have died at a rate six times that of white residents. Of the city’s 118 reported deaths, nearly 70 percent were black — a share 40 points greater than the percentage of African Americans living in Chicago.
Foreign Affairs / And Eventually Find A Coronavirus Vaccine. by haipingliaoi: 4:28am On Dec 03, 2020
FORT DETRICK, Md. -- Army researchers at Fort Detrick are fast at work growing batches of COVID-19 to help test treatment options and eventually find a coronavirus vaccine.
"They take some of the virus and put it onto cells," Dr. Kathleen Gibson, a core laboratory services division chief at the U.S. Army's Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases [USAMRIID], explained through a triple-glass window as Army researchers wearing protective gear worked with the deadly virus. "They look for the virus that will actually kill portions of the cells and they'll count those killed portions."
