That is the business opportunity I was talking about. Can we not develop it again. Deeperlife Mirror is still a comic book and goes for free. I think the problem is possibly with content development.

Literature / What Made Comic Books Disappear In Nigeria? The Business Of Comic Books by Hala(m): 5:14pm On Aug 22, 2023
Recently, I was looking for where to get comic books. I cannot explain my craving for it lately but I could not get it at any store close to me. Unfortunately, I am not in Lagos but I fear that may be the case there too.

Judging from our childhood, we never loved reading but we loved comic books. So I doubt it is the poor reading culture in Nigeria that led to the sudden demise. I see a lot of business opportunities in it. I believe a lot of stories can be represented in comics to tell the story to our children and prepare them for the future. I remember we feasted on comic books but my best Nigerian comic book was Binta.

So, it makes sense to ask, what made comic books disappear in Nigeria?
Education / Covid-19 Scholarship For Students In Tertiary Schools by Hala(m): 2:12pm On Dec 17, 2020
I got this link below from a friend in Abuja. It is a scholarship application form for students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

https://forms.gle/wJC8y9ZhApbgUzZc7

If government will indeed consider to support parents whose income have been affected by covid-19, that will be a laudable move.

It says that selection will be purely on merit. And exam centers will be in selected institutions around the country by 2021.

I hope this helps a lot of people that will find it difficult to go back to school after the ASUU strike.

Investment / Invest to Own A House With N100k monthly on www.mylandbank.org by Hala(m): 11:22am On Jul 23, 2017
Nigeria has an overwhelming need for houses and mortgage that is not available to the many that need it. Only the rich have access to ordinary loans that are so expensive. This discourages the low and medium income earners from building a house in time until old age or even retirement. I stumbled onto a company trying to solve this problem. They are called Southwind Investments and Engineering Services Limited and the platform on which they sell the equity bricks is www.mylandbank.org.

I got registered for free. Register free now on mylandbank.org?ref=2

Now with as low as N100,000 monthly contribution, 200 investors like you can own a house, live in it or earn income from rents and sales. They are launching a cooperative housing project to build 200 apartments in 5 Nigerian cities. They will be working with large cooperative societies in these cities to ensure they deliver on this promise. I think it is a great strategy to change home ownership.

We have heard testimonies of small housing projects completed so far. The company is owned by young Nigerians with decades of experience in real estate construction and maintenance.

I will watch out closely but i hope they make it through the real estate challenges in Nigeria. It is a profitable investment but a lot of challenges limit developers. I will support any company that wants to make this a reality.

Where do we go? Where should we run to?

Politics / How Can Nigerian Youths Redefine Politics In Nigeria? by Hala(m): 9:30pm On Jul 19, 2017
After careful evaluation of Nigerian polity, I got infuriated at the mess being made by our aged leaders? Alhaji Maitama Sule entered government as a youth; Nnamdi Azikiwe and other were in the last century, the youths that determined the future of a giant nation like Nigeria. Today, they roll in their Graves, seeing the stack of dirts in the system. They question remains, how can the youths of today break the veil of corruption and widesPread poverty to redefine politics in Nigeria? How can we stand together to demand our right and positions from the political parties. Where is NANS? Where are the youths? Where is the light? What is our future?

Crime / Re: Gun Battle At A Nigerian Bank Caught On CCTV (Video) by Hala(m): 9:38pm On Jun 08, 2017
All these are out of frustration and joblessness. When you have the guts to build a business but dont have access to the capital, you are pushed to do anything. That aside, the policeman would have succeeded more if he had a shotgun. AK47 is an assault rifle for battle field. Pistols are better wielded and controlled for security agents on posts. Nigerian police should learn to use more sophisticated short guns. The banks should also design gate houses with possible robbery attack in mind. They should use precast concrete buildings.

God will save us all and help Nigerians get meaningful jobs.

Car Talk / Canada Vs USA. Which Is Better For Nigerians At This Time? by Hala(m): 8:53pm On Jul 03, 2016
I have been made to believe that it is cheaper to buy a used car from Canada than in USA due to the US-Canadian dollar differences against the Naira.

Is this a statement of fact or are cars from USA more trustworthy than Canada.

Let me make a point of correction before you get things mixed up.
The military qualification of PMB is equal to a masters degree.
The issue of his SSCE arose because PMB wants to remain humble and by the way it is the minimum requirement by the Nigerian constitution so he presented his SSCE instead of his other military qualification.
The PDP capitalised on this saying he did obtain an SSCE even his constituency denied him. We all know he has an SSCE as Cambridge and his secondary school has vindicated him
He has a Masters degree equivalent yet he doesn't understand what "inclusive government" means. Try and see the video on youtube. Believe it or yes, he doesn't understand the complex relationship between economic indices. Body language is not all that Nigeria needs. She needs intellectual excellence first. It's not a party-sided arguement. It's a fact-based presentation. The legislators are even making the case worse.

Politics / Speak Up Or Shut Up: Ssce Is Not Enough For A Nigerian President by Hala(m): 7:41pm On Jun 22, 2016
It has been argued in many quarters that SSCE should not be the highest academic qualification of a Nigerian president. American presidents for instance attend ivy league schools.

As conflicting as this might seem, no standard company in Nigeria accepts a 3rd class graduate at entry level. Why should Nigeria still keep to this part of the constitution. Although academic qualification does not translate to competence but understanding some complex economic relationship is key to any country's growth, if the leader can use the knowledge.

What is your take on this?

schumastic:
the things we hear this days in marriage makes one wonder if it will be a journey one should embark upon.
sometimes I wonder if this couples of now adays thing marriage is the same as relationship.
1.except if the communication is platonic I don't see any reason why the wife has to keep in touch with her ex infact is uncalled for, she is giving room for past emotions to creep in which will affect her marriage if care is not taken..
2.in as much as I don't buy the idea of partners doing through each other phone, her passwording her phone will only make him start thinking she is hiding something which is a bad move.
3.marriage I believe is all about communication and understanding, the both of them need to seat down and talk this through before it blows out of proportion.
4.fiinally he is the man and like every head of the family if he can't handle issues like this, is better he meets his or her parents, pastor or counselor, cus issues like needs people who have been married for long and still living together in peace, not most single people like us on nl..so op do the needful.
I buy your thoughts on this. It's an all yes idea.
Romance / Should A Wife Maintain Relationship With Her Serious Ex-date. by Hala(m): 6:39am On Jun 22, 2016
This has been a puzzle for me. A friend came to me with this question and at first, I thought it was OK but later, after hearing the stories of affection between them, I started doubting my conviction to that idea that all is well. Especially when she tells him the husband, that she still has feelings for the boy. In addition to this, he does not have access to her phone anymore because she has locked the phone with a password.

Should he act normal or escalate the issue?

Give me your suggestions please.

Business / Five Business Opportunities In ICT by Hala(m): 3:01pm On Mar 19, 2016
Many people are still thinking of new areas to tap into in the ICT. Let's come down to web based businesses. There are five out of millions of opportunities that are open active thinkers. They can be a source of prosperity for many. Here are they. Let's evaluate them.

1. Online DJ party mix: give 24/7 access to music mixes. You can log in anytime to get rich music mix anywhere in the world.
2. Online Doctor: to provide 24/7 access to medical experts for advise on immediate solutions to health challenges.
3. Online contest: the world is a global village. Why are contests still limited by geographical boundries? Break the boundaries with an innovative e-contest.
4. Online food vendor: people wish to have access to food from various vendors without physically leaving their homes and offices. This is a green area for any web enthusiast.
5. Online company rating: many employees are eager to speak up about their employer. Many do so on existing social platforms. Why don't you think of a way to give them a voice. Let your site be the voice of the union.

These sites may be in existence. But believe me, they are still green areas.

Tell me what you think.
Business / Doing What The Successful Does. by Hala(m): 2:31pm On Mar 19, 2016
Like in popular puzzles, spot the difference, you are meant to spot what makes a picture different from another similar picture. This is what successful people do to succeed. They paint a mental picture of what they want to achieve, look at the failures of past trials and then go on to forge their course.

As the saying goes,"those who know how to do, do. Those who don't, teach". Don't focus on what you have read or learnt from the four walls of a formal school. Rather, look for individuals who have broken the ice to emerge at the surface.

Our greatest problem in Nigeria and perhaps Africa is that the successful people do not discuss how they succeeded. This leaves the youngsters in the dark and often crippled by fatal mistakes that would have been avoided if the people with the experience spoke up.

Let's track successful people in different spheres. Let's know who they are and where they can be found.

Let's share.
