Politics / Opinion: Now That Daura Has Gone, Igp Idris Must Go - Frank Eze by HammedSodiqq: 12:21pm On Aug 11, 2018 |
What a week in our political history? The build-up was stellar, like a block buster movie, both the politician-actors and Nigerian-audience had had an experience that will be forever etched in the sands of time. As analysis into the plausible cause of the event rages, at least one of the architects, Lawal Musa Daura, has been relieved of his appointment as the Director General of the Department of State Services. Like the proverbial old woman in Chinua Achebe’s Things Fall Apart, the two Ibrahims at the helms of affairs at the Police and EFCC have continued to act with so much unease. Remember Achebe once said that “an old woman always gets uncomfortable when dry bones are mentioned in a proverb.” Only days earlier, the IGP masterminded the blockade of Saraki’s convoy in the full glare of the public. While Nigerians were still recovering from that episode he deployed his men to invade the Benue State House of Assembly, all without recourse to the rule of law. That makes IGP Ibrahim Idris more culpable than Daura. In fact he started this whole drama, and unfortunately he’s now superintending over a kangoro investigation into an incident that was a culmination of his failed leadership as the Inspector General. Now that the “dry bone” of sack is passing around, it will be unjust to equity, justice and fairness for the IGP to hold onto his seat. No way, he too must have his own chew. Idris has been anything but a disgrace to the Nigeria Police Force. He has demonstrated times without number that he lacks the capacity to exhibit reasonable leadership; and that he does with crass impunity. Even though he is using ongoing investigation and the media to shield himself from the Tuesday’s show of shame, he must never go unpunished. The Igbos have a saying that “...it is not the day the child spills oil that he is flogged, but rather the day he spills crude oil.” Ibrahim Idris has spilled the crude oil several times in the past few weeks. Yes we forgive him for his many other sins. But for setting the tempo for whatever happened last Tuesday, he must be seen to have paid the price for his recklessness. In clearing this mess, Nigerians cannot afford to look far, because you only look for an animal's eyes in its head. Ibrahim Kpotun Idris is a culprit in this matter. If he is left to carry on then it will be justice denied; and Nigerians will continue to suffer from the indiscretion of such public office holders. Frank Eze. |

APART FROM THE NSO REORGANIZATION DECREE OF 1986 WHICH PRESCRIBED 3 ROLES FOR THE SSS BORDERING MAJORLY ON THE DETECTION AND PREVENTION OF ALL CRIMES AGAINST THE INTERNAL SECURITY OF NIGERIA, THERE IS THE SSS INSTRUMENT OF 1999 PROMULGATED BY THE THEN HEAD OF STATE, ABDULSALAMI ABUBAKAR. IN THIS INSTRUMENT, SECTION 2 SAYS THAT THE ROLE OF THE SSS IS THE PROVISION OF PROTECTIVE SECURITY FOR DESIGNATED GOVT FUNCTIONARIES, SENSITIVE INSTALLATIONS AND VISITING FOREIGN DIGNITARIES. HAVE WE WONDERED WHY THE HEAD OF SECURITY ARRANGEMENT IN ALL GOVT HOUSES IS CALLED CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER, A POSITION SOLELY OCCUPIED BY THE SSS? THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE CASE. Politics / Muslim Religious Leader Allows Men To Eat Wives If They Are Hungry by HammedSodiqq: 11:49pm On Apr 22, 2015 |
Religious Leader Allows Men To Eat Wives If They Are Hungry Men in Saudi Arabia are allowed to eat their wives but only if they are extremely hungry. Saudi Arabian grand *mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah allegedly issued the guidelines to allow a husband to eat his wife’s body parts in extreme circumstances. The cleric is reported to have said the ruling represents the “sacrifice of women and obedience to her husband” causing outrage of human rights campaigners. Saudi Arabian grand mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah allegedly issued the guidelines to allow a husband to eat his wife A statement reportedly from the cleric’s office said: “A fatwa attributed to the Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, which allows a man to eat his wife or parts of her body if the husband was afflicted with a severe hunger, raised concern and debate over social media since yesterday evening. The fatwa is interpreted as evidence of the sacrifice of women and obedience to her husband and her desire for the two to become one.” The controversial Muslim leader has previously called on all churches to be destroyed under Islamic law. But his latest declaration is yet to appear on his official website and no confirmation of its legitimacy has been made. Religious authorities denied he made such claims adding that this statement was fabricated. Saudi Arabia has an appalling record on human rights, including against women “These ill thoughts cannot come from any Muslim, regardless of a great scholar who Muslims refer to from around the world,” Khalid ben Abdel-Rahman El-Shaye, assistant secretary general of the Global Commission for Introducing the Messenger, affiliating to the Muslim World League, said. *A Mufti is a Muslim legal expert who is empowered to give rulings on religious matters. http://www.naij.com/426315-religious-leader-allows-men-to-eat-wives-if-they-are-hungry.html |

Politics / Youths United Against Terrorism (YUAT) On Apo Killings by HammedSodiqq: 4:56pm On Sep 24, 2013 |
APO KILLING, POLITICS AND 2015 Last weekend remains one of the bloodiest in recent weeks; from Benisheikh to Lamanti villages all in Borno State, the Boko Haram unleashed mayhem on innocent Nigerians, killing over 150 fellow countrymen. While these senseless acts of terror were on going, the Army and SSS stormed an uncompleted building around Apo Legislative Quarters, which they claimed is the hub of a new terrorist cell in the FCT. As expected, several reactions have continued to trail the incident. Of note is the prompt response to the incident by political stakeholders, human right groups and religious leaders. The question is, are these reactions borne out of patriotic zeal or another opportunity to make political gain of a pure security matter? The politics of 2015 has already overtaken our nationalistic sense of reasoning, as sentiments rather than patriotism now drive the survival instinct of our political actors. It is unfortunate that those leading the protest against the Apo incident have failed to condemn the Boko Haram massacre in Benisheikh and Lamanti in Borno State; neither have they condemned the killing of security personnel by terror groups in Borno, Yobe, Kano, or Nassarawa States. Their silence over these acts of terror in the North-East indicates that they are Boko Haram apologists after all. If not, why will the deaths of seven (7) Boko Haram suspects in Abuja mean much more to these champions of terror than the mindless killing of over 150 Nigerians by the sect? Why is it that those who blatantly refused to publicly condemned the Boko Haram, are now using the various news media and human rights groups to intimidate and discredit the Government? We are fully aware that actors in the political crisis in Nigeria are out to make merchandize of the Apo incident. But we want to reiterate here that the safety and unity of Nigeria is greater than 2015; our National sovereignty and development is far more important than any individual or group. Nigerian youths cannot be fooled any longer, that is why they have risen in Borno and Yobe States to put an end to terrorism. We shall not be cowed or manipulated into believing the selfish and divisive games being played over the Apo incident. Our collective will must aim at eradicating terrorism from Nigeria. Our nation has suffered enough, governance in northern Nigeria has suffered enough; health and educational institutions have suffered enough. We call on our politicians to keep their game within the political arena and stop making gains of Government’s fight against terror. Long Live Nigeria Youths United Against Terrorism (YUAT) |
Politics / The Hypocrisy Of The IGP by HammedSodiqq: 1:01pm On Jul 11, 2013 |
Increasingly, events in the country have revealed the inspector general's incompetence, inefficiency, tolerance for crime, complicity in illegality and enormous capacity for mischief. Most recently, his position on the illegally acquired weapons for vigilante groups in Zamfara state is yet to be ascertained, as reports suggest that the IG was induced into issuing approval for the purchase of the weapon. Recall that the zamfara state governor was quoted as saying that he is waiting for police approval to distribute arms already acquired to vigilante groups in the state, despite subsisting ban on the purchase and issuance of weapon and license respectively. The governor claimed that the state partnered with a security agency (OBVIOUSLY THE NPF) to procure arms for youths in the state, a move he claimed was aimed at assisting security agencies in combating crime. The twist however came when the IG reportedly denied having fore knowledge of the weapons, despites statement issued yesterday by Frank MBA. Mba disclosed that the police has commenced investigation into the procurement and proposed arming of vigilante groups. The statement further indicated that the arms were actually purchased in 2012, and are currently in the custody of the police. That the IGP is aware of the issue but kept quiet until the issue came up in the floor of the senate. And that the governor bribed the IG but he rejected the offer. Now let's ask Mr. IG some questions. How did the weapons enter the country? Who authorized the purchase? If the IG knew the weapons arrived the country since last year, why did he shroud it in secrecy? Isn't that an indicator of complicity? Where are the weapons now? If the weapons were acquired illegally, why has he not prosecute the criminals? Was the weapon not meant to prosecute the 2015 gubernatorial election in the state? What is the gurantee that the weapons are safe and still intact? Isn't the IG becoming part of our security palaver? Join ur voice lets fight crime |

Amaechi is a suspect. Let's not forget that there was relative peace in River State until Amaechi made the statement that rivers has suddenly become unsecured. Consequently, kindnap incidents masterminded by his gang came alive. Corpers and then SA, just to show that truly the police was not working. He threatened to withhold police fund, complained about leakage of security resolutions by the police chief. And I keep wondering, what is he hiding? Is the IGP and the president not chief security officers of the country in their own rights? Don't they have the right to know what is happening in rivers? He keeps clowning. Maybe he is drowning. Lai Mohammed has never been rational in his argument. The same man who condemned the state of emergency in the north, the man who didn't see anything wrong in the emergence of Tinubu's daughter as the iyaloja amidst stiff protest, he didn't condemn the interference of Ameachi with legislative proceedings. Isn't this hypocrisy? Can he proof Gej's involvement? He must not be taken seriously. Within his party, internal democracy is extinct and in fact nonexistent. Bamidele of Ekiti has been removed as a caucus leader becos he refused to concede his gubernatorial ambition to Tinubu's bully. Local government councils in choice areas in Lagos have been converted to Tinubu's plots, and the council relocated. The man that withdrew an active senator for the wife to go? A man that is covertly preparing the wife to become the governor of the state. Mtchweee Anyways, let me behave as if I didnt hear him 1 Like |
Politics / Obasanjo Shares 40% Cassava Bread With African Leaders by HammedSodiqq: 3:44pm On May 20, 2013 |
Obasanjo shares 40% cassava bread with African leaders on MAY 19, 2013 · in FINANCE 8:15 pm Share Tweet By Jimoh Babatunde with agency report Former Nigeria’s President ,Olusegun Obasanjo, took the 40 percent cassava flour inclusion in bread to Tanzania recently as he urged the Tanzania President to promote the use of cassava in confectioneries in his country to transform agriculture. He noted that the use of cassava flour in bread would stimulate the demand for the root crop, create jobs and, more importantly, make farmers proud. Obasanjo who is the Goodwill Ambassador for the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) was in Tanzania for the inauguration of the IITA Science Building in Dar es Salaam. Former President Benjamin Mkapa of the United Republic of Tanzania also ate the bread for the first time. The leaders supported the innovation, noting that it would bring several benefits to the continent. President Kikwete after eating the cassava bread commended IITA for the technology, saying that the bread had an “excellent” taste. “There is no difference between this bread and the normal bread we are used to,” he added. The 40 percent cassava bread was first developed by IITA in Nigeria, as part of efforts to boost the utilization of cassava and create market for farmers. The Director General for IITA, Dr Nteranya Sanginga said today that the bread innovation is part of the cassava value chain, stressing that it complements breeding efforts. In Nigeria, IITA Ambassador Obasanjo, in 2002 initiated a policy on 10 percent inclusion in bread under a program tagged “the Presidential Initiative on Cassava.” The program which was implemented by IITA and national partners, drove the demand for cassava, increased productivity by about 10million tons in 6 years, and made Nigeria the top world producer of cassava. The IITA Ambassador urged African governments seeking genuine agricultural transformation to adopt the use of cassava in confectioneries, and institute policies that would make the continent food secure and cut import bills on food. To facilitate the adoption of the technology across countries in Africa, IITA deployed a team of expert to train local bakers on the inclusion of cassava flour in bread in Tanzania. Dr Victor Manyong, IITA Director for Eastern Africa noted that the adoption of the technology would improve the livelihoods of farmers, bakers and have a positive impact on the economy of Tanzania. Consumed by more than 600 million people in the developing world, cassava has transformed from a food security crop to a cash crop with industrial uses in sectors such as brewery, pharmaceutical and confectionery industries. The crop is one of Africa’s major staples, with the continent cultivating about 50 percent of global production. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/05/newborn-deaths-fg-urged-to-finalise-passage-approval-of-nhb/ |

All men desire peace. It is morally wrong for us to take lives of innocent Nigerians. The recent military onslaught in the north is intended to rid the country of terrorist bent on disintegrating the nation. All well meaning Nigerians must support the government and the security forces on this. Stakeholders should prevail on them to lay down arms and embrace amnesty. For the country to grow, we need a peaceful environment. |
